I'm not rain1, but I can tell you Leahey absolutely edited the scripts during her run. I'm about 95% sure Beldner does (or did until recently) edit as well. I think the problem with Beldner is he was forced into the editor role, one he DIDN'T want -- he wanted to remain on BDs and as AHW (I think it was good ol' Megan who forced him to make the change, but I could be wrong...)

I couldn't agree more. Now, of course, OLTL is still miles better than any other show right now, but Ron is no (you saw this coming didn't you?) Nancy Curlee or Douglas Marland.

Well he's only written for a total of 7 months. I see greatness in him and time will tell if I can put him in the same category with my Reilly (to your Curlee and Marland). I loved Brad Bell before, but he failed me. I loved Guza before but he failed me also. So now it's RC's turn.

I think the one thing I DO like about Ron is that he has passion for the show, which is one thing I can't say about any other show. I know it because I FEEL it in his writing. It has alot of heart.

You'll love Clare, she's deliciously psychotic. Gemma is leaving EastEnders at the end of the summer, but I doubt she'll go back to Hollyoaks (the door was left over for her though). Clare was heavily invovled with Max, and as you know, he'd dead now.

I think the only reason she ever came back to EE was due to her popularity on HO. I don't think they quite knew what to do with her on EE this time around.

Mimi Leahey edited (largely unmessed-with) during her tenure at AMC. Jeff Beldner has been editing since Mimi moved on, but Megan McTavish "edited over him", as did James Harmon Brown. This means that Jeff's edits were either "improved upon" (sic) or overridden, so whatever made it to air may or may not have been Jeff's (and/or the SW's) handiwork. Keep in mind that our beloved actors tend to "ballpark" a lot of their lines-- verbatim readings are as rare as hen's teeth-- which is understandable when one considers how many pages of dialogue they're required to memorize, as well as the break-neck production speed. Rule of thumb for "serious" writers: if you want to hear your words as written, write plays.

Lord knows that's the truth. I can't STAND all of the "yeah, well, you know what's" and the "Look at me, look at me..." that a LOT of these actors do when they're mentally searching for their next line. That's one of the reasons I said Cameron Mathison should've NEVER been given that awkward Beach Speech. If you read the ACTUAL transcript, there's a generous helping of "you knows" as well as "and-and-and..."
