"I think they'll find me with more credibility than a woman with 5 or 10 aliases and 2 dozen wigs"
HAHA, he ate with that one. BTW, they have chemistry. I need them to be an evil power couple
Very rarely a recast will be accepted on the first day. You have to give the new performer a bit of time to get into the groove of the character and putting their own stamp on the character.. and the writers then adjusting their writing to play to an actor's strength.
Interesting that tone of voice can affect how a character is perceived, but it is one factor that can make someone be accepted as a recast.. or rejected as a recast. For instance, my late mom despised Eden playing Bianca on AMC because of her Minnie Mouse voice.. and the moment the recast debuted, my mom said 'wow.. so nice to have a more commanding tone of voice now'.
Thanks for the info.
I haven't read the RH book, but I guess this is a reminder that actors will have very different views on a recast than fans. I can see where they thought Carney was low-key, especially compared to Kate Mulgrew, who has always had such a vibrant presence. But even if I wasn't a huge devotee, I'd still say she was the best of the other recasts. Kathleen Tolan (RIP) is one of the worst actors I have seen on a soap. She could not speak.
