GH: Marlena on mob war

Complete and utter trainwreck? Isn't that a bit harsh, MichaelGL? Guza & Pratt turned the show around after McTavish's mess. That had their faults, but...Remember the resurrection of Stavros Cassadine (2001/JFP/McTavish)?

This allows for greater character interaction. Maxie can interact with Sonny & it won't be a WTF moment. Isolation leads to nowhere. Dr. Olivia on Y&R, among many others, is familiar with that. I'd love it when Edward gives Sonny a piece of his mind. I'd love to see Audrey do the same to Jason. The underused Rachael Ames would rock those scenes.

I'd like to helm GH with you MichaelGL. Do you want to be the primary HW with me 2nd in command? sole HW? Me as a co-HW? I'm improving my storytelling skills & scriptwriting. I see myself more as a SW, but I can do both. I'd like to write for shows that have struggled in the ratings like AMC & GL (I need to brush up on its history). Didn't she who's name shall remain nameless say that she'd love to have 6 months reign as HW on GL & 3 months on DOOL?

The reason we are supposed to believe Sonny sells "coffee" is so that we won't hate all of the disciples of this wretched duo. If the townspeople admit what Sonny and Jason really do, they have to take a long hard look at themselves and see what horrible people they are for always standing up for them (remember Lizzard could not even stand to hear Ric say that Jason was a murderer - what a sick slut she is for continuing to lust after that beast). Back in the day, Spanky and Alfalfa would have been run out of town on a railroad. The townsfolk would not be singing their praises.

Guza is an idiot!

What are you really saying, Andrea? Do you want Benard & Burton to leave the show permanently? If that happens, you can say goodbye to at least 4% of GH's audience. Shows prone to get under 3 million viewers for any episode like GH cannot afford to lose any more viewers. Remember: No matter what people tell you, every viewer does indeed count. Their departure would also affect characters like Carly, Michael, Morgan, Kate, Coop, Bobbie. If you think for one second that they'll write for Bobbie without Carly being on the show, you are sadly mistaken. Like it or not, Carly is Bobbie's only chance of a semblance of a story.

Would your dream storyline involve the citizens of Port Charles running Sonny & Jason out of town? If so, how should it be done?

I know you loathe Guza, so how do you feel about JFP? The other writers/producers?

Who would you want to replace Guza? Robert Alexander? Would you want the unjustly removed team of Michele Val Jean & Elizabeth Korte to helm the show?

Really? It's nearly October, and Carly's been all over the place, but I can't remember seeing Bobbie once this whole year. I don't think the opening montage counts. Before getting rid of Sonny and Jason, it's absurd that no one has tried backburnering them. I guess the actors are fearful that they'll never have as much material to play in their careers again, because they don't seem to get vacations either.

I'm not saying that at all. There is a place for both characters. Luza has made certain of that. And in all honesty, my problem is not with Jason and Sonny. It is mostly with the disciples of this duo. Each and every character has to be related to them. There is no story for anyone outside of the mob, and now if the audience is as stupid as Luza hopes, we buy that Jason and Sonny are the good guys. And now to totally wipe the Qs from the canvas, that silly skank Lulu will move into Jason's? Had it not been for her, we would not have seen the Qs at all. I'm glad Lulu is out of that house, but the downside is that Luza now has a reason to never show them again.

You don't sacrifice all of your characters for one, and this is exactly what Luza has done. After this mob war, what do we do for February sweeps? I got it...let's have another mob war. Let's bring in someone even more dastardly than Craig and Zacharra to drive home the point that Jason and Sonny are the good people. Let's continue to turn all of the women into mob loving sluts who will defend them at all costs. I once enjoyed Alexis until she crept into Sonny's bed. Now she giggles at the sight of Craig? Huh? And Lizzard. I was always indifferent to her until last year. I absolutely loathe this heiffer. Can't stand the sight of her. Lulu showed promise early on, but that soon disappeared now that she is more concerned with what the baby secret is going to do to Jason as opposed to how hurt her brother will be after learning that his slut wife has been duping him for over a year. It is criminal what Luza has to do to a character in the name of Jason (and sometimes Sonny) Morgan.

If Luza is worried about the size of his audience, perhaps he should branch out a bit.

As for the writing questions. I'm not as wordly as many of you when it comes to who wrote what and when, but I don't know that someone needs to control Luza. He needs a co-hw, and if the EP is the problem, then there needs to be some adjustments there as well. I don't like one-dimensional shows. It's lazy.

If Frons agrees to produce a 2nd season of General Hospital: Night Shift, then new writers must be hired because Guza & JFP are responsible for 6 hours of content per week. Guza & Korte are the head writers, on top of their current GH duties. GH's BDW are even writing scripts on GH:NS. This is just madness. Writing for a 5 episode per week TV show is not as easy as people think it is. I'm surprised no one has burnt out from the gruelling pace.

    • I think maybe Andre is subconsciously looking for a caretaker/nurturer in his life to replace his parents. That would explain his attraction to both Ashley (nurse) and Dani (older woman/his aunt's sister). I don't see any chemistry between Ashley and Andre though. In fact Andre and Derek had more chemistry in the pasta night episode than either of them have ever had with Ashley.
    • My only recollection of Ms Felder in Tom Lissanti's book is that she was not well liked backstage, and nobody was aware of rumors that she was fired because of her looks, including the network executive interviewed for the book.
    • a) you would not be sorry, but  b) full episodes from the first half of '89 are hard to find.
    • Ya see..., that's why I can't watch this show on my own!

I'm ripping it for being dumb, meanwhile half the episode goes over my head.  Hello pot, I'm kettle.
    • When put very plainly it wouldn't make sense, but you could say that Ashley would prefer someone that can pay his own way without sharing expenses and has more than a working class experience. Andre might want someone more stable and level headed. Of course the issue is that the characters don't match despite the plausibility of a connection making s
    • I am fine with no one mentioning Bob-ette again.  It's frustrating not ever knowing what was up with him truly or why we wasted so much time on that to never get a conclusion.  I am willing to forget it though. Abe being on the board makes more sense to me because of Lexie and Theo.  I think there was a wing dedicated to Autism research or treatment years ago possibly named after Theo and Lexie was the chief of staff at some points and worked there for years.  I could see Abe having interest in the hospital still.
    • TR eventually came to be a nickname for Theresa Regina, the name her kidnappers gave her. Estelle never referred to her as Rebecca, though, always Theresa. I guess that was what TR wanted.    TR went to Switzerland. Jane returned for the last week.  After Ryder died, TR never had a love interest. I assume they gave up. I wouldn’t have dropped John Loprieno as Danny but he got squeezed out by Quinn, really. A TR/Evie/Jerry triangle might’ve worked.    David Forsyth and Jackie Schultz had good chemistry. I liked Luann though. I think Sharon Gabet would’ve been a more interesting recast, and she might’ve kept Joe Lambie on as Lloyd.    But Suzi and Wendy were gone, and Liza was talking about leaving town to join Gary in Africa, so before the cancellation, I do believe Liza was getting phased out.  Sunny and Patti and Evie were set up as heroines, and it was a small show.
    • Andre/Ashley are a mismatch and not in a cute opposites attract sort of way. He is a very stylish photographer, independently wealthy, wordly  and she is a simple, struggling nurse with limited experiences. He has been having a covert sexual relationship with an older divorced woman and she is involved with a meat and potatoes blue collar  dude. Just  don't see what the attraction would be on either side.
    • I read that somewhere too - maybe it was mentioned in that book? I hope it's true.
    • I took a break from Edge of Night to finally start watching this. I watched the first week's worth of episodes. I started off chronologically even though they released the show originally with the Barnabas era first (don't know when he comes in). I had those discs in the complete coffin collection. I'm watching the complete series on Amazon so I hope Amazon doesn't pull a Knots Landing and yank the series before I finish as I don't have all of the beginning episodes. Thoughts: I appreciate the creepy black and white vibe and how everything is so mysterious even when it's just people walking into rooms. I also like seeing actors I know (Louis Edmonds, Joan Bennett, Mitchell Ryan, Conrad Bain (although he might be a cameo), etc.). It was nice to finally see Joel Crothers as I have yet to see him on Edge of Night. Crothers is quite looking so I wish he'd show up on EON. Mitchell Ryan is also attractive. I like how they set up Devlin's animosity towards the Collins family during this week.  We're left to wonder why Roger is so upset. Why is Devlin angry? What happened to Roger's wife? Who wrote to Victoria? Not much has really happened but I'm intrigued. The dialogue is certainly not on the level of EON. It amuses me they leave bloopers in. Bennett in particular struggles with doors. Was this filmed live?
