September 15, 200718 yr Member NEW YORK -- Rosie who? No one at ABC Daytime may be thinking that now, but Whoopi Goldberg's first week as moderator of "The View" is certainly looking good. Her debut week tied Rosie O'Donnell's with a 1.2 rating for the highest premiere week ever in the 11 seasons of "The View," according to data released Thursday by Nielsen Media Research. Its average of 3.5 million viewers was only 2% off last year's premiere week, the first week of O'Donnell's stormy tenure. O'Donnell left the show this year and was replaced by Goldberg, who has brought a less caustic vibe to the show. ABC said the daytime chatfest is back in the top five of daytime programs and up 42% from the week before. It also was up 12% among women 18-49 with 980,000 in that demographic. And there's more growth for "View" in the first few days of Sherri Shepherd's tenure. The new co-host joined the show Monday. "View" averaged 3.9 million viewers Monday compared with last season's second-week average of 3.1 million viewers, according to Nielsen.
September 15, 200718 yr Member I am so glad to see good press for "The View." Rosie made it something that seemed flashy and was only must see-TV to see what she was going to say, if her and Elisabeth would fight or to see who she was going to piss off next. What Whoopi has brought to "The View" is something that made it stable for 9 years with Meredith, it's about woman talking about things and let's face it not a lot is happening yet in the world...so yeah...I like it now and there's five women at the table again FINALLY! So I'm hoping for the best w/the show!!! It's a whole new View!
