Variety: PASSIONS Heads to DirecTv

LOL, yeah. I remember your prophecy.

I think Lindsay would stay. In her latest interview, she did not seem too gungho about going on auditions.

I think the Miguel/Kay/Fox storyline will be a primary focus on DirectTV.

If Lindsay, stays, fine, I'm glad; she IS "Passions" and it'd be hard for the show to live without her. But what about me?! Lol. I can't watch this damn show anymore if it's on DirecTV! :(

Ahem!

To all those naysayers that said Passions was DEAD come Sept 7th, Come on out of the woodwork ;):P

If Passions does well, I wonder if the future of soaps coule be on satellite? Sounds like they will use the UK soap format? 40 minutes 4 days a week with an omnibus (sp) at the end of the week?

At any rate, I am very happy that PSNS has been picked up. I don't have DirecTV but my Grandma does, So I will be having her record it for me.

Oh, R!ck, thanks for bringing up the naysayers. We sure did tell 'em, didn't we?

I'd like to thank R!ck, Rion, myself, the academy...

Oh, having faith ROCKS, man.

Oh, but I fear there will be some TICKED OFF "AW" fans about to come out of the woodwork, lol. think about it!

There's always YouTube.

I expect the show to be much different on DirecTV. It'll probably have more of a telenovela format -- "seasonal" stories, as the show will likely not air year 'round -- and the cast will likely be cut in half. The other half won't stay, LoL

NBC must not want this news out yet. I've posted this three times on NBC's official "Passions" board and they've removed it within seconds, each time.

YouTube sucks, Kenny, only because soap fans (and you know this, I think, based on past posts) LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOVE to keep their favorite episodes. And watch them over. On TV. Not on the Internet in pixelated form. I have a whole library of favorite "Passions" episodes on tape and I'll soon cave (one day) and get a DVR so I can record the final episodes on that, for best quality. You can't do that on YouTube.

So, again, YouTube sucks! :(

My only option, as I see it, is torrent.

...and my account has also been temporarily suspended until May 5th for posting the information, LoL

Those NBC moderators are such cunts!

It's in Variety so I don't know why the hell not. There's no reason to keep it secret! In fact, if the conspiracy theory that ratings are down, even though the show is good again, due to the knowledge of looming cancellation, this would only HELP their cause!

Oh, my GOD. That's insane.

I agree, they suck ass!

...also, this will never last long-term. I give it a year, tops.

That's what a lot people, especially AW fans, said back in 1999. LOL ;)

Like I said, we don't know what the business model/show format yet. It could work if done right.

I'm excited for the show because I know there will be changes, even good ones, but I'm ticked that I may be unable to see it!

Anyway, will JER write this version?! Also, was this discussed in the SHOCKING, abrupt interview with the "Passions" producer that NBC was interviewing today at 4 p.m. (I only knew about this because of the little bug that flashed during today's show).

The moderators are so obviously a bunch of 14 year old pubescent girls, because they're very unprofessional. They didn't offer me a warning, or a private PM or anything. Just an outright account suspension, because apparently they're too lazy to go about things the right way and don't know what the hell they're doing.

I hope they're all murdered, brutally, by someone pounding them to death with their very own keyboards. :) Because that's just the kind of mood I'm in.

Oh, my word! Death wishes over being kicked off the "Passions" board?! Wow. Well, unless, unless it ALSO got you suspended from all NBC forums, including, of course, "Days of Our Lives." Then I could definitely see why you'd be so pissed! It's just too extreme!

Anyway, did ANYONE attend the "Passions" producer chat TODAY?!!

I agree with Kenny. This just won't work.

First off, a godo deal of Passions fans are teens and young adults. Do you think they have the money to get DirectTV if they don't have it? DirecTV just isn't going to be good enough. It won't last and I can sure that at least half the cast and probably most of the good actors will jump off the bandwagon. How many will want to work for a show on DirecTV? They already lost Brook Kerr and if Passions loses some of the more popular actors and characters then even some of the dedicated fans won't even consider getting DirecTV for it. That is the problem. I just don't see this lasting. If it were HBO or Cinemax or something, maybe. That is more mainstream then satelite. I am a very positive person but I just don't see how this can work.

I also can't blame the naysayers. Cancelled soaps hardly ever get picked up. I never said that Passions couldn't find a home. I had doubts and didn't give a good change at getting one but I never said it was hopeless. It was nearing that point though. I just think this is a bad decision if you want the show to last. Good for Passions but I doubt it will even be worth it.

I wonder if NBC isn't commenting yet because the deal isn't done and the details are not worked out yet.

This is interesting news, time will tell who will stay, who will go; and how long each episode will be......

Just trying to read those boards at NBC was enough for me, I registered there but have never tried to post; it reminds me of the crazy goings on at the Soap City Boards.......
