ION to Hold Upfront May 3

John Consoli

MARCH 28, 2007 -

ION Television will hold its upfront sales presentation on Thursday, May 3, in New York City, to unveil its programming strategy for the 2007-08 TV season.

Beginning June 29, RHI Entertainment will serve as ION’s exclusive programming supplier on Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights, and at the upfront, will provide a preview of the original shows that will debut on the network.

RHI Enterainment is owned by Robert Halmi Sr. and Robert Halmi Jr. and is a producer of miniseries and movies for television.

Prime time ratings for ION, albeit from a low base, are up 30 percent this season. On Feb. 15, its Thursday night telecasts of off-network shows Mama’s Family, Diagnosis Murder and Charlie’s Angels delivered a combined 0.7 household rating, the network’s highest weeknight performance of the season. On March 25, a John Wayne movie, The Cowboys, earned a 0.9 household rating, the highest weekend night performance of the season.
