March 26, 200718 yr Member So what does everyone think of this latest breaking news in the Anna Nicole media saga? I still don't understand how she was on 9 different med.'s..... http://news.yahoo.com/s/wplg/20070326/lo_wplg/11388057 Detailed reports released by Broward County Medical Examiner Joshua Perper show that Anna Nicole Smith's primary cause of death was "combined drug intoxication." Autopsy, emergency room, investigative reports and a news release show the conclusion to be a drug interaction that had "unpredictable and dangerous effects." Perper said Smith's death was caused by an accidental overdose, and after an extensive investigation there was no reason to believe the Playboy Playmate was the victim of foul play. The autopsy report shows that Smith, 39, had about nine prescription medications present in her body. Perper's initial tests found no evidence, either in Smith's stomach or her bloodstream, that she had taken large amounts of prescription medication. Through more testing, Perper said he was able to determine that a combined drug interaction was what killed Smith. "Based on the totality of the results we finally concluded that the primary cause of death was combined drug intoxication with the primary drug being Chloral Hydrate in conjunction with multiple other drugs in therapeutic concentrations," said Perper. The medical examiner also pointed out that Smith had "abscesses of buttocks and viral enteritis (intestinal infection) and possibly the flu." These factors also contributed to Smith's death, according to the report. Because Smith's death was so sudden and her 20-year-old son Daniel died under suspicious circumstances five months earlier, there had been speculation of possible criminal activity, but Seminole Police Chief Charlie Tiger said Monday the case was closed and the death was accidental. Smith arrived at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Hollywood on Feb. 5 and planned to leave four days later aboard a new yacht to the Bahamas that she and her companion Howard K. Stern were arranging to buy. She became unconscious in her three-room suite on Feb. 8 and later died, according to the reports. Perper apologized to Smith's family, "friends who loved her" and her fans because of the diclosure of the public records. "We must do what is compelled by law," said Perper.
