SoapNet: Why One Tree Hill & The OC?!?!?!?

Because those shows perform well in the demos and they can probably sell more advertising time at a better rate during those shows than re-runs of Santa Barbara or Loving/The City.

The episodes of Melrose Place & Beverly Hills 90210 perform very well in the ratings for SOAPnet so adding more programs like that to their lineup will do well.

It would be nice if we could tune into see classic soaps, but under the guidance of Brian Frons that will not happen any time soon.

You are. That was AW, which is part of the reason why they chose to start where they did. I believe some stuff in the early 80s is what's missing.

They say that's the problem, but before Rick Rhodes died, he offerred to re-score it for free and most of the team (if not all of them) have said that they would take no compensation if that's what it took to get it on the air. SB- Best. Crew. Ever.

I tend to disagree there- as Canfan stated, Frons was very much involved with SB and considered it 'his' baby (though it truly belonged to the Dobsons). Many of the producers/writers that Frons worked with at SB (JFP, JHC, Guza, Pratt, Bennett) are on his payroll. I think he has a certain affinity for SB and in all honesty, really is our best hope of getting it back on the air right now...

So what if Frons was involved with SB. If it doesn't fit his "vision" of what SOAPnet should be, then we won't see it. Frons already has stated that he has his vision for the networks that people will have to adjust to. If we can't get classic marathons of the ABC soaps already on the air in a consistent basis, what makes you think they're doing to add SB?

They can earn more money re-airing the primetime soaps then they will with airing some of the classic soaps. We can say that "all former viewers of SB will tune in". Maybe that's true. But then again, maybe not. It all boils down to money.

His big fat EGO, that's what......

Frons had nothing to do with the production values, writing, and quality of classic ABC soaps- so to him, they're crap anyway. Why live in the past with Luke & Laura, Karen Wolek, and Greg & Jenny when you can tune into Jason & Sam, John McBain, and Babe Chandler?

I know. But can't I just live in my bubble and pretend SB has a shot of being re-aired?

Anyhow, we're activating.......we've had some rumblings in some of the chats during the SB radio shows about possibly launching a website that will re-air the show, in its entirety, every day, Monday-Friday. People have the collections........the videos are there..... IF TBTSNBN can do it, why can't we? :)

    • I am no Bo/Hope fan girl, but I think the ages were about 18/22.  It was more Doug finding Hope in a comprising position with Bo that gave him a heart attack lol.
    • Never forget, as we celebrate the 40th anniversary of Bo and Hope, that their age gap was so wide it gave OG Doug a heart attack.
    • Doug can legally order drinks and has since he arrived so I assume he's like 22 or 23.  A little too old to be creeping on Holly, but they are all graduating or graduated (Ari) so it's not the worst.
    • I just think with high schoolers, you have to establish the age of their romantic interest.  Otherwise, it can get really creepy.  If Doug was 19-20, I would've enjoyed his poetry/books discussion with Holly because on paper, it was actually pretty good.
    • I am glad Ned gets some say.  I don't really understand why he was left out of this decision.  We have no evidence that Ned wouldn't have 100% supported Brook's choice. I can understand leaving Sonny and Olivia out of this if BLQ didn't want to reveal Dane was the dad, but Ned should have been in the loop. Yes, Donna is the most adorable child in the world.   An unnecessary Sonny/Carly child, but adorable AF.   Justice for Avery though.  Where was she?
    • Peyton Meyer is 26, but I'm telling myself Doug's about 21, since all the actors in his group (Tate/Holly/Arianna/Sofia) are all a few years older than their characters. Actually, Leo Howard is a decade older than Tate! Still not the greatest optics, but still much more tolerable.
    • Michael coming back and taking his son home was a great cliffhanger......however, my number one pet-peeve on soaps is episode-to-episode continuation.  How in the world could the writers not show us Gio/Brooklyn/Lois?? I was so bummed by that.  Is Scarlett Spears (Donna) not just the cutest little girl? Those dimples!  She was so adorable with her performance.
    • If he's younger, he is very precocious when it comes to loan sharking, prison, and poetry.  I wonder if he is meant to be younger than Javi?
    • That was another thing was surprised me in a good way. Having a teenage character hook up with a total stranger on her second episode?  Wow. We don't often see that.  But to have it happen with Diddler-Doug? This is now the second girl he's gone after who's still in high school.  In my mind, Diddler-Doug is in his mid 20's, unless the show has established that he's not?
    • Does anyone else think Lauren Buglioli talks too softly? I get she's supposed to be a pampered princess, but I can't connect to her performances because I always feel like she needs more grit or something. She needs to be more ferocious for me. More of a firecracker, because she's coming off like less than a sparkler. I will say bringing on Tracy was exactly what Anita needed because she's been all stoic all the time. Seeing her be infallible made her feel human, rootable, and relatable.  This was the first episode where I feel like the new Ted had settled in well. Pretty good for a near immediate recast.
