Thanks for your concern, but I'm fine.   :)

I just felt I had to clear up some misunderstandings about the way we have handled this situation. I know that we seem to have a higher ratio of deaths in relation to confirmed cases than many other countries, but we probably have a larger amount of unconfirmed cases than most as well, since we haven't done any widespread testing so far. We have concentrated more on testing high-risk groups to ease the pressure on our health-care system. Instead we've been asked to stay at home from work when you experience even the slightest symptoms, and stay at home until you've been symptom-free for two whole days.

Another aspect is that of the 870 deaths we've had reported so far, 88% have been 70 years or older, and the vast majority of those have other illnesses. So it is not entirely certain that Covid-19 was the cause of their deaths. They had the virus in their bodies when they died, but the actual cause of death could very well have been something else. But they are included in the statistics anyway.

I thank you for this. I really do.

I heard yesterday the deaths in Missouri are in fact 100% African American.

they are. the governor is getting run up one side and down the other. his inaction has made the situation dire, so the St. Louis City mayor & County executive have just went ahead and they are basically running St. Louis.....same thing in Kansas City, even though the mayor of St. Charles refused to issue the order until he got DESTROYED and then changed his mind.

Well when people start dying in rural America which is under resourced don't admit you were wrong of course. You think because there are just a few cases now in a community that 100% believes this is likely no worse than the common cold due to propaganda are going to take actions to stay safe. And I know the assumption - urban to some of you = PoC. And you blame it on population density not the fact that a lot of the essential workers - people in grocery stores, fast food restaurants - can't work from home - and a good portion of them are PoC - unprotected, underpaid, and under serviced.

And what are the testing rates in Missouri? You also failed to mention that almost 100% of the deaths in St. Louis are PoC.  I am sure it's population density and has zero to do with who is out there working unprotected but is considered essential.

And a public event by the way is one of where one of the major outbreaks in Chicago started. A church service. Have they cancelled church services or are they like in Kansas allowing people to pack into churches on Easter.

Jane, I now ignore this person. this person adds nothing to this conversation.

That's why I'm almost suspicious of the recommendation that everyone wear a mask. I'm sure we'll find that some people made moves in the stock market that worked out well for them once the new guidance was announced.

I forgot about them. I guess I'll have to deal with the price gougers.

very true. the one percent have really lined their pockets on this one.

As terrible as things have been in NYC, I fear that COVID-19 is really coming for the midwest with a vengeance.  There are grim reports of body bags inventory running out in Michigan, people dying in hospital hallways. And now this.

this was reported o our local news here. Walmart will now not allow anyone here to come into the store without a mask and gloves on. that story is causing a major scandal here.

Good. He showed himself to be a scumbag with his big statement to the crew about Crozier. It was obvious they would have zero respect for him, which is very dangerous.

I was very proud of the former Captain's men and women. They shouted at this a-hole to defend their CO.

  7. BREAKING: Navy Sec Thomas Modly just submitted his resignation letter to Defense Sec Esper. Modly is the one who talked trash about hero Captain Crozier, who blew the whistle on coronavirus spreading on his ship.

I theorize that the 1985-86 Days Pawn storyline was changed when Drake Hogestyn was cast or soon after.

Was Robert Poynton always intended to be a transitional actor in the role? Hogestyn wasn't cast until, I think, November 1985, just as the story was starting to air. I think when they cast Hogestyn, they knew they had their Roman, though he didn't film until January.

If I remember correct, Steve saw the bandaged Pawn in Miami before surgery, but he sure didn't know who he was when he picked him up off the side of the road when he escaped from Victor a month or two later.

From what i understand from back then, SA asked Wayne N. to come back. the producers wanted him to come back, but each time he said no. so after the last overture, she started looking for the new RB. when she casted DH, she felt she found him...but if he didn;t have chemistry with Dee, he would have turned out to be one of Stefano's sons (which they were going to do when they were trapped on the island after Lawrence A. caused and earthquake.)

    Dallas:

If Phil Capice had not been forced out as EP (and had Patrick Duffy not have returned) Steve Forrest's character Ben Stivers would have turned out to be Jock Ewing.

Back to Pat Falken Smith and Days.

In addition to Stefano's obsession with Julie, Roman's younger brother Marcus was going to be involved with Melissa Anderson and there was a Di Mera sister Vanessa who would be involved with Mike Hortin I believe,

Edward Mallory said he was approached to return as Bill.

Roman's younger brother Marcus? so Bo was supposed to be Marcus?

Alan Merrill has passed due to complications from the virus. He was a big name in Japan many years ago, but may be best known for writing "I Love Rock and Roll."

@OzFrog @Roman the network that airs BBCanada pulled the plug last week as Canada is moving into only essential productions. I think the episodes where they learn and leave will air next week. (BBCan has been a mess for many years anyway but this is not the right thread for that discussion...)

Sorry if this was already posted. And [!@#$%^&*] you, Falwell.

I cannot decide whether Donald Trump has officially washed his hands of everything related to coronavirus, or if he is truly at a loss as to what to do next.  I don't know, maybe it's a little (or a lot) of both.

Either way, the message he sends now -- that it's basically in the states' hands -- scares the crap out of me.  Especially because I live in a state (Oklahoma) that likely still looks at this as a hoax and no big deal.

    both.
