Where I live.  I'm from Western Loudoun but now live in Eastern Loudoun which is more Liberal.  Western Loudoun has a lot of racism and generally Conservative although it's starting to flip.  John Mosby was big around Loudoun. They won't talk about it but it's true.  To their credit they did pull the Confederate statue from the courthouse grounds.  But yes, out there there are a lot of people still use the term "Colored" in Loudoun.

    my goodness.

my deepest thanks for explaining this. I didn't go off, but people still openly using that word.....

Until now, YouTube had been the only remaining major social media platform not to have suspended Trump in some fashion.

Facebook has suspended Trump's account "indefinitely," while Twitter has banned Trump completely.

YouTube is suspending Trump's channel for at least one week, and potentially longer, after his channel earned a strike under the platform's policies, the company said Tuesday evening.

(the article does NOT say anything about deleting all the existing content,
Youtube has only removed a specific vid.

They are only preventing new vids from being uploaded,

and also they are preventing commenting on existing vids.)

    full story:
    https://www.cnn.com/2021/01/12/tech/youtube-trump-suspension/index.html

A recent video on Trump's channel had incited violence, YouTube told CNN Business. That video has now been removed.

YouTube declined to share details of the video that earned Trump the strike, but said that after the one-week timeout, it will revisit the decision. YouTube also removed content from the White House's channel for violating policy, the company told CNN Business, but the channel itself has not been suspended or been given a strike -- just a warning.

"After careful review, and in light of concerns about the ongoing potential for violence, we removed new content uploaded to the Donald J. Trump channel and issued a strike for violating our policies for inciting violence," a YouTube spokesperson said in a statement. "As a result, in accordance with our long-standing strikes system, the channel is now prevented from uploading new videos or livestreams for a minimum of seven days—which may be extended."

YouTube also said it will be taking the extra step of disabling comments underneath videos on Trump's channel.

Under YouTube's policies, earning a second strike will result in a two-week suspension and three strikes will result in a permanent ban.

More: YouTube tells me the company also removed content from the White House’s official channel for violating policy. Doesn’t sound like it earned a strike but I’m asking.

Content that’s similar to the violative posts and lack context will also be removed, the company said.

YouTube tells me that although content was removed from it, the official White House channel has not been suspended or been given a strike -- just a warning. If further violative content gets uploaded there, it would be eligible for a strike under YouTube policies, I'm told.

Been trying to figure out which video it was that triggered the enforcement.

YouTube tells me that it was comments he made to press yesterday morning. From my notes, though, he spoke to reporters twice -- from the south lawn of the White House and again at Joint Base Andrews.

what he said yesterday sealed his fate. his business, what remains of it, is in shambles. his name is now forever toxic. his children followed him down into oblivion....

and I just read where a GOP senator who backed the "stolen election" stuff is now giving up his honorary degree from a college after they received 2500 signatures calling for it to be taken away from him. it took 51 years of my life....but these republicans are finally where they should be.

Meanwhile, I'm hearing Dianne Feinstein, who's so old she doesn't even leave fingerprints anymore (tm Dorothy Zbornak), has filed paperwork to run for another term as senator.  Really, girl?

there is one thing I will always hold against her. she gave out police evidence in the Night Stalker case, which allowed the killer to walk onto the Golden Gate Bridge and throw that evidence into the Frisco bay. she graduated with Moses so why does she think she should have another term? she is part and parcel of why there should be term limits.

Nobody is doing that. But if you never acknowledge a win and keep moving the goalposts by searching for the worst takes or people and insisting they are going to win when they're clearly not, you're not living in reality.

let me say this one more time.

we see this differently. I have moved on. ok?

and don't tell me what reality I'm living in. period.

Why are people worrying about midterms already? I swear we democrats need to stop our bed wetting and living in fear.

Because you don't let your guard down with republican and trump people who have shown they will do whatever, even storm the capitol, to keep hold of their sick, racist power.

I'm just ready to forget politics for awhile once we get 46 in. We can get the vaccines rolled out properly and see to the needs of others that were so cruelly ignored and ridiculed by this administration. It's nice not having to worry about his sanity.

it will be very nice a week from tomorrow to not have to worry about what that moron will say. ever again.

That's true, but I doubt he sees it that way.

he doesn't. the ONLY reason tonight he is backing impeachment is so he can use it in two years. Democrats will have screwed everything up by then and lose one of the chambers....hopefully not but....

  6. WASHINGTON — A man photographed casually sitting with his foot on a desk in House Speaker Nancy Pelosi's office at the U.S. Capitol while a pro-Trump mob rampaged the halls of Congress was arrested Friday, law enforcement officials said.

Richard Barnett, 60, of Gravette, Arkansas, was taken into custody in his home state on charges of entering and remaining on restricted grounds, violent entry and theft of public property. Further details were not immediately available.

Apparent images of Barnett were splashed across social media as the deadly mayhem unfolded in the nation's capital on Wednesday, just as Democratic and Republican lawmakers convened to count the Electoral College votes. Members of Congress condemned the violence and rioting, which was preceded by a rally led by President Donald Trump who told his supporters to swarm the Capitol in defiance of the election results.

A New York Times reporter tweeted that he spoke with Barnett after his stunt in Pelosi's office. In a video, he boasts that he took a personalized envelope, but insisted he didn't steal it.

"I left a quarter on her desk," he said.

I didn't. I thought he'd slink away in 12 days. But the possibility was always in the back of my mind, I shouldn't be too surprised. What he fomented and caused, he's been doing for years. I just didn't think it would implode on him before he left office.

it wasn't just him. he had help from republican members who are either blaming BLM or Antifa or liberals for what they did. they ALL should be stripped of their offices and run out of DC. none of them should be seated in the new session.

Lt. General Russel Honoré just said out loud what everyone is government and the media is afraid to say out loud! That the Capitol Police and the Senate sergeant-at-arms appear to have been complicit in Trump’s insurrection!!

As an outsider, without real knowledge on politics in the US, I think that Nancy Pelosi is doing exactly what needs to be done. It really doesn't matter if an impeachment is successful or not, she has to do this. It would set a very dangerous precedent if they didn't demonstrate in every way that what happened is completely unacceptable and that they will do everything they can to make sure that the guilty ones will suffer the consequences. It doesn't matter that Trump "only" has two weeks left.

agreed. screw political outcomes.....this man and his flock got people killed. a police officer was beaten to later die, and a woman was trampled to death. how many times have people in this very forum say that one day someone would get killed because of this creature? and here we are. he must be removed and locked up.
