I wish more people would have paid attention to the danger. If this is not an example of white privilege I don't know what is. I am especially disappointed in Eichenwald.

I wish I could find the link but I was reading an article in the Wall Street Journal the other day talking about the budget plan being now tweaked by the White House. THey are changing the growth numbers increasing them to around 4% which is 1.5% higher than the Obama white house had them. Most economists and the CBO have the projections at around 2% for the next 10 years, but of course Trump doesn't believe in economists. The Congress of course has to follow the CBO in the budget. What's interesting about it was the fact that our labor market participation rate has been up while unemployment has been down, not hard to see why(baby boomers starting to leave the workforce) and the only reason we are able to maintain a decent participation rate is - lets wait - immigration and foreign workers. So the WSJ article basically is saying if the rate of immigration is reduced that there is no possible way those growth numbers are achievable and likely would not be even if we weren't kicking people out, deporting, and cutting back on immigration. And they can keep increasing H1B Visa's but that won't make up for it, as many younger people who come here on Visa's going to college end up staying and become permanent residents. It's amazing the ignorance of these people. While this country may not be welcoming to many, these people help our economy thrive and grow. It's what has separated us from everyone else. There are already 3 million jobs in this country that can't be filled due to lack of skilled personal.

That one gives me pleasure because that actually costs him money and yammering on a book tour. Now in allegedly half of Breitbart staff saying they will walk if he is not fired. His downfall after all the first amendment pearl clutching done by venomous GOP is one short lived positive.

He's from Illinois. I should have remembered that. I just remember all the "the poor man is sick" comments because he rolled into court in a wheelchair.

Oh yeah I know that. I guess my comment was more cynical. But I guess we know pedophilia at least right now is the one bridge too far for these folks. But honestly I don't buy they didn't know what about him. Much of this has been known about him for a good long time.

They are? I guess pedophilia was a bridge too far but xenophobia, white supremacy, domestic abuse, bigotry are all a-ok(see who else is speaking).

This is awful but it's the kind of stuff he's been doing for ages. He's dirt in the worst sense. We've been considering cancelling our cable service regardless, but finally did today. My intended gets internet service with his job so we don't need that aspect of the service anymore. When asked why we were cancelling, I told them it was due to Bill Maher and his show and support of Milo. I said for HBO to continue to support this was a bridge too far for us. Granted this is not the cable service direct issue, but hey maybe it's on record somewhere.

I am in no way advocating for keeping Trump. But the danger is once he's gone, Pence will look like a relief. And I can just see the media and press calling him some sort of savior not because policywise he is any better but because he won't attack THEM. I believe it. But this is a distraction from Russia

I actually kind of agree with Carl. And not trying to discount what your saying Vee. The danger is the progressives will be so relieved to be rid of Trump, his exit will look like a huge victory and the people who I believe are awake right now might just be willing to ride things out until the next election. With Trump in place I do think 2018 is going to be a huge turnout for progressives finally. With him gone people might believe the victory has been won and stay home. After watching how the press, media, Washington and many people in her own party demonized Hillary, I am not sure I have the confidence people will stick with it. They are still blaming her for Trump. On the flip side hopefully this election has woken up the silent majority who I think in some sense realize now that they are the ones responsible for Obama getting so little support after 2010. Lord knows I have been critical of Obama at times, but I'd like to think I hold my politicians accountable, but I would never vote against him, never not show up because I am "not excited" or he's not perfect. I know a good public servant, someone who wants to do good when I see it. So many of these idiotic progressives need a rock star like Obama not a solid hard working non charismatic leader like Hillary Clinton. Not to say Obama was not all those things but he has the rock star quality, charisma that Clinton has lacked for years and people in our party need that extra umph to motivate them to vote.(why I can not take millennials seriously as voters) That's exactly how we ended up with Bruce Rauner as Governor in Illinois a billionaire do nothing right to work loving republican over Pat Quinn, a non charismatic but well intentioned democrat who inherited a mess and tried to do the right thing. The election Rauner won only saw a 28% turnout in Illinois.

Other than Hillary, I can't think of anyone else who could announce that would cause him to lose it. Bernie is too busy trying to suck up to Trump and "work" with him

Obama's hands are not clean when it comes to Syria. But I will say in an interview he gave about 6 months before he left office he was asked whether there were things he regretted during his presidency and number 1 was Syria to the point where he said it continues to keep him up nights. I think the most humane thing we could do as a country at this point is to allow the refugees in and up that number. We aren't Germany who had limited experience with vetting large numbers of refugees from this part of the world. I'm not suggesting millions, but we should certainly take in a reasonable number. Sending ground troops in accomplishes nothing. Interesting that one of the criticisms people threw at Hillary was her hawkishness and that she was going to get us involved in more wars, sending more troops overseas.

Pence is only safe if the Intelligence Community decides he is and doesn't leak and even then, there's more than 50% of this country who aren't buying Pence. Probably more than that. Trump didn't win because of Pence. I've now seen a couple of members of the GOP come out and attack the IC. Now trust me when I say the IC is not ethical and has their own interests they are protecting. But when you go after them, compare them to the Gestapo, you get what you asked for. This is a group of agencies that have worked to topple governments around the world. People thinking anyone in the GOP is protected is crazy. And their goal mind you is to force the GOP's hand. If they don't change their tune, the main players IMO will be picked off one by one. Don't think they have nothing on the likes of Paul Ryan. The question one has to ask is how deep does it go. There was also information leaked related to some congressional races particularly in a couple of races in Florida, that the GOP congressional caucus led by Paul Ryan had no issue using against the democratic opposition. It's sad when the only way the GOP can win is through voter suppression and now through being in cahoots with a foreign adversary to tamper with our elections, perhaps this country's biggest adversary for the past 65 years. But I know, the GOP is all about America first.

I'm no where near ready to award CNN or any network for any kind of Profile in Courage award. It's all for ratings as it was last year. I am prepared to recognize those who were consistent like The Guardian and yes even the Post to some extent. I still won't give the New York TImes one penny.

That writeup by Rather shows the parallels. And while people, me included, think the GOP are cowards and such, Nixon initially had the support of his party because they felt he was controllable. And at the end of the day we saw how that turned out. But the dripping of info, the firing by Nixon of Cox and then the subsequent resignations by the AG, the attempt to discredit the media, all there. But while Nixon suffered from paranoia and delusions, he was functionally competent and he did govern.

I think the difference with Pence is Trump's cult members, didn't vote for Pence they voted for Trump and those who wanted to shake up and blow up Washington didn't vote for Pence. I don't think the fanatical right will have the same kind of passionate support they have for Trump. And it's not like Pence is not involved. I had a suspicion the Intelligence Community was going to be Trump's downfall and it's astounding that these people believed they could out maneuver them, especially Bannon, who I frankly may not be Einstein but isn't stupid. The question I have is the FBI and what was going on there to help throw the election to Trump. It seems they and the FBI are at odds. There are a couple of journalists out there who believe that there is a contingent in the bureau who helped Russia set up Weiner and caused that whole episode with the emails being found on his computer, even to the point where it's possible they worked in setting Weiner up from the beginning with the girl. That last part seems far fetched but after reading Louise Mensch's article, it's certainly possible.

I think people just don't understand the supply chain. It's easier to scapegoat illegals as being dangerous because so many believe they are taking jobs from them when in reality they help create jobs. It doesn't mean I support illegals, what I do support is an immigration plan which every president since Reagan has been trying to get passed with no luck. By the way the thread with Mikki Kendall above also talks about how our undergraduate and graduate educational system is going to be hurt tremendously by bans and huge immigration restrictions, because international students foot the bill for the 40k a year tuition so our students can pay less money.

Yep didn't mean to ignore that. I saw that. And it's going to get worse coupled with Mexico potentially going to Brazil for corn purchasing.

This is an amazing thread started by Mikki Kendall on Twitter. Take a look. How this administration is going to tank our economy through kicking out the "bad people".

So Mexico is already taking action on the potential to hurt our agricultural market. They are pursuing purchasing corn from Brazil. Corn according to this article is the US's biggest agricultural export. I no longer think it's going to take a couple of years to tank the economy. These ICE raids will scare migrant workers away from working in the fields, leaving crops unpicked, there is a drought that is going to continue in the Imperial Valley. Produce prices are going to go up. THis administration is going to be allowed to crash the economy while members of his party look the other way and claim they had nothing to do with it. Good luck to all those "economically challenged" workers who were allegedly suffering. It's just going to get worse. Particularly since there are no manufacturing jobs to come back. http://money.cnn.com/2017/02/13/news/economy/mexico-trump-us-corn/
