  1. Yeah... nobody remembers Taft LOL! I do say the idea of him getting stuck in the white house bathtub makes me laugh my ass off! Max... I truly don't think it would do more harm than good... and if parts DON'T work, then portions can be repealed, adjustments can be made. Medicare had to have the wrinkles ironed out at first as well. Many Republicans just don't want it because Obama sponsored it. And that's why this new crop of candidates is losing credibility with the public. They are railing against the exact thing that NIXON propsed. I know they've disowned him, but that doens't change the fact that he DID have conservative support before watergate. It doesn't negate the fact that Nixon and the conservative establishment at that time, supported the same thing they decry today. And BTW!!! Carbonite, one of Rush's biggest sponsors has just pulled the plug!!! i'm so excited I can hardly stand it... and after Rush back pedaled, and stumbled all over himself to give an apology. Too little, too late!
  2. Well... Oprah could get a built in audience if she aired a soap or two ...
  3. Max... I don't think it's perfect, but there are MANY good things about it. Like this..... do you disagree with this portion of it? http://www.healthcare.gov/law/features/choices/co-op/index.html
  4. Oh Max, considering his health and morbid obesity, he'll be lucky to be ALIVE in 2016. the man is a coronary or Stroke waiting to happen.
  5. Yeah, Carl... Rush has lost some big sponsors over this, AND people are saying this woman has good grounds for a libel suit. Sleep Number, Quicken, and Legal Zoom have all dumped his show as sponsors. Rush has always bleated about letting private enterprise and free market dictate EVERYTHING... well.... there you go! LOL
  6. And the problem is... the republican and tea party use abortion and social conservatism issues to keep these people voting for them, all the while screwing them in their pocketbooks. And, yes.. medication is a huge expense for many... I am VERY careful when prescribed anything, before I decide to take it. I've heard people talk to each other and say things like "Oh, I don't what i'm taking... theyr'e some green pills...." and it shocks me that people do not KNOW what medications they are taking. I'm sure my doctor will try to give me a statin... but I can tell you for sure, I will NEVER take one. In my little limited sphere, i've known of THREE people who's lives were ruined by the side effects. These are big cash cows for the drug companies.
  7. And the health care plan that NIXON proposed is not that different from Obamacare... and every time I throw that in the face of conservatives, they remain strangely quiet. the thing is... insurance is a SHARED RISK POOL, and THAT is also socialism. People who don't get sick pay premiums, and make up for those who do get sick, and use more than thyev'e paid into. Except that conservatives have been duped into this idea that we need some bogus, money making middle man to administer it all.
  8. Oh this is funny as hell:
  9. I wonder why nobody seems to be able to see that health insurance is a for profit middle man that is not neccessary to the equation of healthcare. Not when it can be done for less money by someone who doens't make a profit. And why should it be non profit? Because from my moral compass, I can't stomach the idea of making a profit off of someone else's pain and misery. A certain amount HAS to happen, because the doctors and nurses and hospital employees can't work for free... they have families to support. But the insurance agent don't need to make money off of you. To tell you the truth, the best thing that would even happen NOBODY has suggested, and that is to go direct from patient to doctor and hospital. Leave out insurance and government ENTIRELY, have hospitals offer memberships where you pay a monthly premium, and if you ever need care at that hospital (or any of it's affiliated hospitals), it's taken care of for free. Just like MAST ambulance service does with their yearly "memberships" here. Groups of Doctors could get together and act as their own insruance company... pay a monthly premium, and you can see any doctor in that network. Except the money goes DIRECTLY to the doctors and not to insurance companies, and that is naturally cheaper because you don't have to pay all these secretarties to handle all the insurance company billing. The hospital coverage could be required, and be on a sliding scale... so even the poor would pay a small amount, like 5$ a month, the top amount would be capped, so nobody would be paying 3,000$ a month or whatever. I also would like to see a mandate making all hospital be non profit. About 1/4 of them are already that way... everyone who works in them makes a salary, the institution itself doesn't need to make a profit off of people's sickness and misery.
  10. Oh, I don't think it;s photoshopped.... it's called a girdle
  11. Yes, Clive is like that, Carl. That's the main reason that Martha only recorded one album for Arista... her exact words about Clive were "That man ain't gonna tell me how to sing!" And Taylor Dane is very open now, and has been for quite some time. Thanks, SFK... i'll watch that Billy Preston unsung... that's a great series. I acutally think at some point Robyn is gonna spill the beans, and lay the whole thing out in the open... I would almost lay money on Seeing Robyn do an exclusive with Barbara Walters.
  12. Alvin, what you are saying makes perfect sense. Why else would Whitney do so many drugs if it wasn't to hid emotional pain? she had everything else in the world. The deep homophobia within the black church is really INTENSE, don't underestimate it.
  13. I totally believe this. Considering her strict religious upbringing, and the high profile her family had.... let's keep in mind, many in the church shunned Cissy when she started recording secular music.... imagine the fallout of Whitney being a lesbian?
  14. You are NOT gonna tell me that you were watching Whitney's homegoing sittin on the throne, are you?
  15. I'm hearing reports that Bobby's "entourage" consisted of Whitney's Stepchildren. If so... then WTF, and who would have the gall to ask the ex-husband and children to move three times? After the third time, if I were Bobby... I would have said, "Is it ok if I go back and STAND in the back corner?" Or he should have said "Ask me to move one more time, and you'll have one hell of a mess on your hands".
  16. who the hell invited Al sharpton? I wonder if any of Whitney's friends from high school rated an invitation?
  17. I am... got to say that casket spray was beautifully done. I do florist work, so I notice these kind of things.
  18. You get your hat out the closet, ok? Iknow what you were sayin about Tequila. i've seen some people get totally crazy ass sh!tfaced on that stuff. I wanna know who would drink something that has a nasty old worm in the bottom? If a waiter in a restaurant brought you a worm in your dinner, you'd sue their pants off. I never understood the appeal of it.
  19. Absolutely, SFK... so true. I've known about that family for quite some time... Cissy's roots in the church, and Dionne's sophisticated music and image carried over the Whitney's image... but these were "rough ridin bitches" as my friend calls them. People would be surprised, because of the type of music they sing, people expect them to be these aristocratic, Maya Angelou types, that simply is not the case.
  20. That's very true. The Supremes held that record with 5 consecutive number ones until Whitney came along and broke the record. I sometimes wonder what brings a person who seems to have everything to indulge in self destructive behavior that ultimately kills them? Her poor mother... Cissy must be in such turmoil right now. She was the one who intervened and forced her to get help.... but sometimes a mother's love isn't enough, and it should be.
  21. The amercian political crap and wild west attitude in general makes me wish I lived in Germany. My relatives over there don't know how we function in america with our backwards system.
  22. And you know, over here they bitch and moan about Arrowhead, because it was built in 1972. SO FREAKIN WHAT. they act like ti's not big enough... it IS for Kansas city, not for Dallas... but it's fine for Kansas city. And every team that comes to Arrowhead LOVES the facility and can't say enough good things about it and the way it's laid out. There are just a certain segment of society in any city that's never satisfied, and always wants some new toy to play with. Your stadium was built in 1995!!! Now they say it's outdated? and want to take taxpayer money for a new one? Let the damn team go somewhere else, I say.
  23. I still think "Angel" is one of her best. and my all time favorite is this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CkpCSmoO_iY It's GOT the be this full length album version. The song really NEEDS that bridge ( "Look what your love has done to me, come on baby and set me free")
  24. Yeah... everybody's bitching about it. I live between Kansas City and Sedalia, and it's been reported on alot with the Kansas City Stations as well as the ones in Columbia. They spend 7 million on this crap, and now they want to put a toll on I-70 because they don't have enough money to fix it. PLEASE.
