Oh, yes! John Conboy overspent his own budget, cutting into Wheeler's so that she walked into a deficit. Fortunately, she worked her way out of staying in a deficit. We have her to thank for that. And, while we're at it we can be grateful that ConWest was only at the show for a year. God only knows what they'd have done to things if they'd had more time! Meanwhile, I heard the other day that said boy toy is currently making a fortune selling real estate in LA.

I disliked the Santos family, too. And, I really disliked Michelle marrying in to it. Before AW had Tanquir, it had San Cristobal with an a, while later GL came along with San Cristobel with an e. AW's San Cristobal with an a was tropical & Paulina met both Ian Raines & Jake McKinnon there & fell for both of them. It also was involved in show history that had to do with Carl's family & Mac's family & Ian's father & conflict. P&G was nutsoid having 2 island paradises with only one letter of spelling keeping them apart! When did Bruce Barry leave? He was so good!

I saw an interesting "5 Things You Don't Know About Jake Weary". I don't know where it was & this is paraphrase. He looks up to actors who do not live in the limelight. He comes from an acting family. (Now, hey, we knew that one!) He made a guest appearance on his mother's show. (Now, I did not know he did a visit on GL.) He's a talented musician. (Didn't know that either.) He got criticism when he left ATWT because people thought he was avoiding the gay story. (Really he just needed to have some time for school, sports, family, etc. Some of the criticism spilled over on KZ, too. That is too bad!) They summed up by calling him one of the most talented & promising young actors today. I can agree with that going by watching "Animal Kingdom". And, Ellen Barkin in it is divine!

It's dated Dec. 13, 2007. She speaks of the political infighting that was going on & having to be the leader & anchor for P&G & the cast & crew & fans. Afterward she speaks of wandering for 7 years in the desert (California) until she found a new painter to be her mentor. That's right; now she paints instead of sculpting. I've met people who have been to her studio & have bought her paintings. She talks about NBC wanting to buy or own or possess AW and P&G not having any of it. She said that an NBC Head Honcho Brandon Tartikoff said to her, "Oh my God, you're the only reason we keep that show on the air." My words, not hers, but she was verklempt! She explained about writing for the show & pitching story & even about pitching product placement as a concept. Good interview.

Recently some people put together a film noir style docu-drama to be called "Who Shot Your Soap?" I don't know if it was ever distributed or broadcast but there is a copy of it up on YouTube. And, as we all know, if there's a clip up on YouTube, then, you can see it. I realize that I'm in an AW topic & this applies to more than just AW. It also applies to ATWT, GL, AMC and OLTL.

When I was one of many Another World fan activists, we were encouraged 4 distinct times because there was interest in the soap itself or in a merger with P&G. In the order I can recall them in: Paramount wanted AW and/or wanted a merger with P&G. It fell through. Next, Viacom wanted the soap itself or a merger with P&G. (Viacom & Paramount did merge with Viacom as the parent company. Then, Viacom merged with CBS.) ABC wanted AW. P&G wouldn't have any of it. So, ABC used Linda Dano on all 4 of their soaps as a non-Felicia character. FOX wanted, and had wanted for some time, a daytime lineup of their own. They specifically wanted AW & ATWT to be their "starter lineup." Again, P&G was having nothing to do with it. P&G was always the hang-up! As fans we were distraught because any of those means would have kept the show on the air.

We were huge fans of BABYLON 5, own the DVD set and have seen it multiple times. We were huge fans of BATTLESTAR GALACTICA, own the DVD set and have watched it multiple times. I have the full version DVD set of CAGNEY & LACEY. I loved watching GENTLEMAN JACK. I loved watching FosseVerdon & was thoroughly amazed that Michelle Williams has come so far that she seemed to be channeling Gwen Verdon! Just got through streaming BOHEMIAN RHAPSODY & then VITA & VIRGINIA. I had previously seen A STAR IS BORN with Lady Gaga and then QUEEN. Right now I am looking forward to next week when NBC comes back on Wednesday nights & Thursday night. I streamed something else on Amazon Prime but I am a total blank on the title, even though I liked it very much & met its creator on Facebook. Oh, I know what it was! It was a 'little' flick called SNAPSHOTS that was another on Prime Video.

Ross Marler is a fictional character from the CBS daytime soap opera Guiding Light. The role was portrayed by Jerry verDorn, who joined the series on March 19, 1979 and remained with the series until October 11, 2005. Casting As portrayed by actor Jerry verDorn, the role of Ross was introduced to Guiding Light in 1979 by head writers Bridget and Jerome Dobson and executive producer Allen M. Potter. verDorn received Daytime Emmy Awards in the Best Supporting Actor category for his portrayal of Ross in 1995 and 1996. In June 2005, following twenty-six years in the role, verDorn was dropped to recurring status, and left the series altogether the following October. verDorn was subsequently hired by rival daytime series One Life to Live to take over the role of Clint Buchanan. In April 2006, verDorn's absence was addressed when Ross was killed in a plane crash offscreen. (OLTL was in dire need of someone to play Clint Buchanan & Mark Derwin put in a good word for him. He read with Erika Slezak & the next day they offered him a contract. GL reached out to him to set up some "Ross" dates for him & he had to tell them he had already signed a contract with this ABC soap. Truly, no one could have been more different than Ross Marler of Springfield and Clint Buchanan of Llanview, which just goes to show how talented Jerry verDorn is! Unfortunately, not much time passed before Brian Frons canceled SOAPnet, AMC & OLTL.) Storylines Ross Marler arrived in Springfield in March 1979 as an ambitious young lawyer, whose first case was to defend Roger Thorpe against allegations that he had raped his wife, Holly Norris. Ross made every effort to prevent Roger's conviction, but this was stymied by Holly's effort to murder Roger and Roger's subsequent attempt to fake his own death, Following the debacle of Roger's trial, Ross was approached by Mike Bauer, who offered Ross a position as partner in his law firm. Ross turned down Mike's offer and began pursuing Amanda Wexler, as Ross viewed her money as the perfect launching pad into a career in politics. With Amanda drawn to Ben McFarren, Ross sought the help of Amanda's mother, Lucille, to aid him in catching Amanda's attention. However, Ross also began spending time with Eve Stapleton, and a genuine relationship blossomed between the two. In June 1980, Ross's ex-fiancee, Vanessa Chamberlain arrived in Springfield, and caught up in the memory of old times, Ross has a one night stand with her. When Vanessa wanted to pursue the affair further, Ross refused to do so, and Vanessa staged a suicide attempt in order to gain his attention. His biggest story line revolved around his love life with Blake Thorpe. While running for senate, Ross was seduced by Blake then eventually they fell in love. They heated up the small screen with their very many amorous adventures. Their relationship had many ups and downs but they had three children together and were the love of each other's lives. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Was Holly tarnished beyond redemption? I have to start off saying that I have always enjoyed the Holly character. She is neither a hero nor a vixen, she falls somewhere in the grey area in between. Holly Norris was simply a complex character. She was ambitious, strong, and yet slightly neurotic. Whereas characters like Reva wore their feelings openly Holly kept her feelings closely guarded, a pool of deep still waters. The scene from 1979 where her husband Roger Thorpe rapes Holly has become a memorable piece of Guiding Light history. One of those iconic markers that even if it was before your time (like me) you know about it and have watched the amazing acting between Maureen Garrett and Michael Zaslow. But it was the late 90s when the character of Holly really took a beating, a beating she never fully recovered from. It all began with the sudden romance between Holly and Fletcher Reade that would lead to their marriage in 1995. Months after they married Holly learned she was pregnant which left them both shocked, yet happy. They also learned that their unborn child would be born with Downs Syndrome. Though Holly thought of having an abortion she decided against it and later gave birth to daughter Meg. Later they learned that Meg was born with a hole in her heart and needed surgery. Holly and Fletcher remained happily married until 1997 when Holly decided to let Roger back in her life. Roger and Holly’s closeness didn’t go unnoticed by Fletcher, who after seeing Roger give Holly a “grandmother’s” ring, asked Holly point-blank if something was going on between them. After Fletcher caught Holly and Roger in an embrace, devastated, Fletcher left town with Meg in tow. Holly fell into a deep depression and turned to alcohol for comfort. Holly’s brother Ken, who’d been in an institution for decades, noticed she had a drinking problem and didn’t want to watch his sister destroy herself. Sadly, Holly let it slip that Jeffery Morgan, not Buzz Cooper, was Rocky’s father which ultimately led to the death of Jenna Bradshaw. Though it appeared as if Holly was getting her life together, several strange occurrences began to happen in Springfield. Harley Cooper was given a gift basket that contained a poisoned apple and Vanessa Reardon found herself bit by a poisonous spider. When each instance came with a nursery rhyme, it became clear that Springfield had a “Nursery Rhyme Stalker” who was targeting Springfield mothers ... Soon it was revealed that Holly was the Nursery Rhyme Stalker. But this was not before she had kidnapped most of the children in Springfield including: Kevin and Jason Marler (her grandchildren), Susan LeMay, Rocky, Marina, and Henry “Coop” Cooper, Shayne Lewis, Lizzie Spaulding, Tammy Layne and Roger Joshua Jessup and held them against their will. Thankfully when Fletcher heard that Holly was the Nursery Rhyme Stalker he returned to Springfield and convinced a judge that it was his actions that caused Holly to go off the deep end. FLASHFORWARD to 2004 and Holly learned of Roger’s death from a man named Sebastian Hulce who claimed he was Roger’s son. Sebastian asked Holly to take a trip to Santo Domingo to celebrate Roger’s life. They stopped in the same hotel Roger kidnapped her years ago and even saw a waiter that resembled Roger. But Sebastian then held Holly captive; he was dying and needed Holly to contact Ed for the cure. After a long (and awful) storyline Sebastian freed his hostages, yet Holly stayed behind to bid him farewell. Alone, Sebastian made a convincing plea for why he and Holly should be together but Holly resisted. She really had no interest in Sebastian. She was constantly conflicted by her emotions regarding Roger, torn between love and hate. They were at their core toxic, but so very beautiful to watch. When asked if there were any storylines she didn’t like, it is no wonder that Maureen Garrett answers with the “Nursery Rhyme Stalker” and falling in a Stockholm syndrome type of love with her kidnapper Sebastian Hulce. They were both awful storylines. One “tarnished” Holly Norris and the other was so out of character for Holly it was hard to watch. (The actor who played Sebastian was very talented. However, at one point in the story, he forced himself onto Holly for a kiss.) ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Things GL Got Right 25. Aubrey Dollar. This talented actress made the character Marina Cooper her own. She was feisty, tenacious, and a perfect fit for the Cooper family! She had two great pairings with both Ben and Shayne before deciding not to renew her contract in 2004. The role was eventually taken over by Mandy Bruno, who had none of the former Marina’s “spirit”. Aubrey Dollar will always remain my favorite Marina. 24. Mary Stuart as Meta Bauer. Soap actress legend Mary Stuart took over the role of the Bauer family matriarch in 1996, and thus began Meta’s task of leading this core family . Meta was a source of love and support for Rick and Michelle, especially since their father was always gone. And truthfully, who knows where Manny would have been without this vibrant woman’s influence! She encouraged Michelle to be strong during her pregnancy and knocked some sense into Danny when he almost missed his son’s birth. Check out the Mary Stuart Tribute video here. How appropriate that Meta’s speech from this clip would later be used in Guiding Light’s opening. 23. Edmund Winslow. Richard’s dastardly brother, he took sibling hatred to a whole new level. His crimes were many, his friends were few, but nevertheless he made a mark on Springfield. You never knew which Edmund you were going to get; the angry deceitful ex-prince or the vulnerable man underneath. Edmund was a great Guiding Light villain and certainly made things a lot more interesting. 22. The end shot. As a true blue Guiding Light fan I HATED to see the show end, especially with such cheap production values. But the final shot not only fit the show but really resonated with a lot of viewers. We had just seen Guiding Light’s last supercouple reunite for the last time, heard Reva say Jeva’s famous line “Always”, and then we see the shot of the lighthouse. The symbol of the show, the Springfield Light House was everything from a meeting place for lovers to an apartment. Yes the end of Guiding Light was horrible to witness but that end shot? Perfection. 21. GusH. Another one of those pairings that came out of nowhere and rocketed into Guiding Light history! Part of GusH’s charm was that both characters were sort of lost when they were partnered on a case together. Harley was pregnant after a one night stand with her ex-husband’s best friend Rick (after all it is a soap!) and Gus was on a personal vendetta against the Santos family. But Harley couldn’t deny her attraction to the bitter detective and viewers couldn’t help but fall in love with them along the way. The end of their marriage in 2007 didn’t stop fans from wishing that they would find their way back to each other. But Ricky Paull Goldin’s exit, and Gus’s subsequent death, would prevent the reunion that was slated for 2008. leaving fans wondering what could have been…. 20. The Fab Four. No, not the Beatles. This time I am talking about the Danny/Michelle and Tony/Marah couple duo. The original Four Musketeers (Philip, Ben, Rick, and Mindy) had their era but the Manny and Marony duo were great for their own reasons. For one, Michelle was the only person who knew what it was like loving a Santos. So the Marah and Michelle friendship was both realistic and helpful for both women. And Danny tried his hardest to talk some sense into Tony when he needed it, which was often. I’ll never forget when Danny told Tony that, “Marah’s a part of you Tony, she’s a part of your soul” echoing early Manny. These two couples could have become the new super couples of the show but sadly it never came to be. 19. The Santos Family. While some critics think introducing the mob family was too “dark” for Guiding Light I loved them, every one of them. I enjoyed watching Carmen try everything she could to keep Danny in the clutches of “the family” and the Cousins Santos trying to break free to be with the women they loved. Yes I truly enjoyed this family. They were a good addition to the Guiding Light canvas, and of course gave us two great couples: Manny and Marony. 18. All Roads Lead Back to Springfield. The loss of so many veteran characters was part of the reason Guiding Light suffered in those final years. I couldn’t have cared less about Greasy Grady, I wanted to know if Quint and Nola had gotten back together and where Philip was hiding. When Lisa Brown (Nola) returned for the finale we were led to believe that yes, Quint and Nola had reconciled. The return of classic characters such as: Philip Spaulding, Ed Bauer, Bridget Reardon, Mindy Lewis, Holly Norris, and Fletcher Reade was a great send off to a soap that made history. 17. Annie and Alan. The writers ending this pairing is why it is on the biggest blunders list. I never saw any of Alan’s earlier pairings, but I find it hard to imagine Alan loving anyone as much as he loved Annie. She was manipulative and devious, and slightly crazy, which was a perfect match for the King of Devious himself. It was the first time I saw Alan vulnerable, and I loved it! I still maintain that Alan and Annie could have ruled Springfield for years to come! 16. The Wright Cassie. Cassie Layne arrived in Springfield to spy on Lewis Oil for Annie and Alan. But is just so happened that Cassie was Reva Shayne’s long-lost sister Danni Shayne. Laura Wright and Kim Zimmer made for a great sibling duo that even Reva pulling the plug on Richard’s life support couldn’t keep these two fighting for long. While I may not have liked some of the things Cassie did (like being the foil for Dinah and Hart) but I liked the character. When Laura Wright left the show the great Cassie/Reva sisterhood was sadly lost in an awful pairing that should have never happened (Josh/Cassie). But I will always remember the great Shayne/Layne sisterhood. 15. Otalia. Guiding Light has a history of addressing social issues (see: Diversity) so it was good to see the writers break the “taboo” of homosexual couples on soap operas. And Olivia and Natalia’s slow build, friendship-to-romance quickly became a fan favorite. The writers kept viewers guessing until the last episode but it was the build up that made the most impact. It was a natural progression, nothing contrived or forced. 14. Matessa. Long before being a “cougar” was considered “in”, Guiding Light had the delightful story of older woman Vanessa Chamberlain falling in love with younger man Matt Reardon. It was a tastefully done, slow build, type of love story and after talking with other Guiding Light fans they seemed to have enjoyed this couple as well. Matt and Vanessa met as strangers when he defended her in a bar. Going by assumed names, Vanessa hired him as a handy man but the sparks between these two could not be denied. Their relationship started out rocky (she was just getting over her divorce from Billy and he thought she was ashamed of him) but these two eventually fell in love and married in 1996. Even Vanessa running off after learning she was suffering from a brain disorder and subsequently faking her own death couldn’t keep these two apart; they fell in love online using the name “Tess” and “Robert”! Unfortunately as the show ended the writers decided to have Matessa end, thus ending one of the better (and long-lasting) couples in Springfield. 13. Abigail Blume. Introduced in 1995 when Reva was suffering amnesia, Abigail left her Amish community in Goshen to get treated for migraines…and ended up falling in love with Rick Bauer. What was particularly special about Abigail was that she born deaf, just like her portrayer Amy Cox Ecklund. She was the first character on Guiding Light with a handicap and Abigail was so sweet it was hard not to find her character charming. She was my favorite of Rick’s pairings because she not only supported him, but Abby also challenged him to be a better person. I was definitely sad to see them end. 12. The 70th Anniversary episode. For those who don’t know, Guiding Light began as a radio program about a preacher named Rev. John Ruthledge and the people of Five Points. In 2007, in celebration of Guiding Light’s 70 year run, the cast of Guiding Light did an episode where the modern cast portrayed the characters from the radio show. It was a great homage to history and many long-term fans (such as my Grandma whose love of Guiding Light originated in the radio days) were pleased by the effort. 11. Gina Tognoni. Dinah has always been an…interesting characater. At times she’s been sweet and caring while other times she is manipulative and deceitful. Wendy Moniz was excellent at playing the many subtle layers of Dinah and her departure in 1999 left some big shoes to fill. In 2004 Gina took up the role and she made the character her own. Dinah was still a grey character but even when she was being bad she did it with style. Gina was great at showcasing Dinah’s strength while also portraying her vulnerability, especially in regard to her personal relationships. And oh how I loved the Dinah and Shayne pairing! 10. Diversity. In the 1960’s legendary soap writer Agnes Nixon wanted to incorporate social issues into the storylines. The result was Guiding Light being the first show to regularly feature African-American characters. Dr. Jim Frazier and his wife Martha were the first African-American characters on the show, which paved the way for such characters as Hampton Speakes, David and Gillian Grant, Marcus Williams, and the Boudreau family. What was even better was that these characters weren’t just filler material, they were fully developed with meaty storylines. 9. Buzz Cooper. Buzz was introduced as a Vietnam veteran who had abandoned his wife Nadine and kids Frank and Harley, who subsequently believed that he had died. He returned to Springfield in 1993 when Harley started looking into why his name wasn’t one of those included on the Vietnam Memorial. Sounds like a real likable guy right? Part of the reason the character caught on was because Buzz wasn’t instantly forgiven. It took time for Frank and Harley to accept him into their lives, even longer for them to love him as their father. The other part was Justin Deas. He just had a way of playing Buzz where you couldn’t dislike him, he was not only funny but had a “every man” feel about him. 8. The return of Manny. In my opinion these two should have never left Springfield…but I digress. But out of all the great legendary characters that came back to give Guiding Light their big send off this couple was the one that I truly looked forward to. They weren’t like some of the other couples where their status was ambiguous, Manny were together and happy….and moving back home! Manny magic. 7. Bizzie. A last-minute couple that I never saw coming. Lizzie was the spoiled Spaulding princess and Bill, well I guess you could consider him the Lewis family playboy. I would have never in a million years imagined these two together. But then Lizzie matured and flourished and went toe to toe with the slightly devious Bill. A great slow build romance that took some hits along the way Bizzie was one couple I cheered for during Guiding Light’s final hours. 6. Always Jeva. Reva may have married three Lewis men but no one held her heart like Josh, and vice versa. Each time they would get divorced I would wait patiently (okay sometimes impatiently) for them to find their way back to each other. When Reva would call Josh “Bud” or they would say their catchphrase “Always” it was hard not to love Jeva. These two seemed to corner the market in angst but Robert Newman and Kim Zimmer would always knock it out of the park no matter what! The writers kept viewers waiting until the very end to see these two reunited but alas, Reva and “Bud” did reunite and then drove off in search of new adventure. 5. The Families of Springfield. One thing that made Guiding Light so special was that at its core it was about the different FAMILIES living in Springfield. For years, decades even, the writers were great at building up these complex dynamics. Alan and Alexandra’s power struggles over Spaulding Industries. Michelle’s feelings of abandonment over Ed’s desertion. Josh and Billy showing Tony just who he would have to deal with should he hurt Marah again. Tony being tempted by the power Carmen and Maria dangled in his face…but ultimately remaining loyal to Danny. Families truly were the heart and soul of Guiding Light which was what made it all that more special. 4. The Lewis Brothers. I just had to give these two their own spot simply because the Lewis brothers were a hoot and a half! Jordan Clarke and Robert Newman had great sibling chemistry and played well off each other. Whether they were being loving siblings or duking it out I loved watching these two weave their magic. And who didn’t chuckle when Billy would call Josh “little brother”? The Bauer bar-b-que was a tradition that thankfully endured even in Guiding Light’s darkest days. It was an episode I looked forward to every year because the whole town seemed to gather together to celebrate. It was also good to see that even though characters came and went, some traditions were still sacred. The best villain in Guiding Light history, Roger Thorpe is also considered one of the best villains in all of daytime television (which is no small feat). He had already made a name for himself by the time I began to really watch in earnest, but what I did see of Roger I enjoyed. He was a villain you loved to hate, but that “hate” never lasted because Michael Zaslow was just that damn good! For your enjoyment, Roger Thorpe: The Scandal Years 1. Reva Shayne. Created by Pam Long in 1983, this sassy vixen quickly became a fan favorite, and it was easy to see why. She was a strong woman who rose above her humble beginnings as the daughter of the Lewis family maid to become the wife of not one, but THREE, of those Lewis men. And along the way the self-proclaimed “Slut of Springfield” has done it all! She’s been cloned, traveled through time, been psychic, battled cancer, and “died” three times…and that’s only the tip of the iceberg. Portrayed by the always fabulous Kim Zimmer, Reva Shayne will forever remain one of daytime’s top characters. In the words of Zim Zimmer herself, “Long live Reva Shayne!”

NBC did make an effort to compete, but being the "we try harder" soap makers, they were skittish and often took their shows off the air too soon, not allowing for the many years it can take to build up a loyal soap audience. (This was, in fact, the reputation that NBC had.) ... Both Lemay and Reinholt had a private and personal vision of the character and motivation of Steve Frame. Unfortunately, they did not coincide. ... Writer Lemay explained to new Rachel that he didn't like his characters to be as black-and-white as was standard in the world of soaps. He wanted to make Rachel a character with more complexities.

(This is something that was said about the show all along over the years, even until the days that NBC was trying to do away with it.) "Another World" is, most importantly, a show that pays attention to character and psychology. It does not hint darkly at psychiatric concepts as does "Days of Our Lives"; instead it deals with ordinary motivations in interpersonal relationships. Oedipal conflicts and all the rest come out in dialogue---not in bizarre and soapy situations. In the storyline, traditional soap devices are minimized. There is no hospital drama except incidentally, when someone gets sick and is admitted. There are no amnesia victims (the oldest son Tommy Jr. had amnesia.) No melodramatic murders or trials. There are also ---strange to say---no mysterious illegitimate babies. LeMay's idea of a good twist is to deliver a baby of middle-aged parents (Ada and Gil).

I believe that was the idea of Agnes's. A line I did not get to in this is as follows: Jim and Mary's son Russ left town as a high school dropout and returned much later as a full-fledged doctor. How this bit of magic was accomplished was never explained by the writers. ME: I don't think that happened at all! This is a fascinating OLD soap mag. vetsoapfan, please jump in with me. I'm not seeing spelling, except Proctor & Gamble. I'm not seeing grammar. But this thing is a mess.

It was magic. But, someone just mentioned musical montages. When she was a musical Director, JFP was better than anyone else at musical montages. And, to boot, as a Musical Director she didn't get into trouble. She didn't start getting into trouble until she began to climb the "Producer" ladder. And, she has never stopped climbing it.

New Headwriter Lemay had an ax to grind. He hated the show's format and most of its characters, whom he found to be trite, dull, and uninspiring. His first executive action was to change the show's opening statement. No longer were emotions and feelings the "other world" implied by the title. Instead Lemay conceived of "another world" to focus on the world to which we all would love to belong, the world of hopes, dreams and ambitions. ... Lemay interfered in the marriage of Pat & John Randolph. ... The ratings improved, the show grew in popularity, and Proctor & Gamble was pleased. ... The love triangle between Alice, Steve and Rachel was also a Lemay brainstorm. However, Robin Strasser decided to leave the show and Victoria Wyndham was hired to play Rachel. She was no longer vicious & immoral. She mellowed, softened, and became vulnerable. They SORAS'd Jamie to the age of 13. Alice left for New York & to work for the Carrington family. A character called Louise Gardner was the Carrington's eccentric housekeeper. This was the time of the Watergate scandal. The execs insisted that the story in Bay City was just a coincidence. Reinholt was unhappy with Lemay's concept of his character. It showed in his portrayal & on the set. Rauch grew tired of him & his arrogance & fired him. Soon after Jacqueline Courtney was also fired. There were exchanges of contempt for each other in the soap press. ... This magazine sums up this much of Another World with the word "convoluted."

An actor's anecdote from this SOAPnet AW Reunion about working with Ellen Wheeler's Marley and her Vicky ... Kale Browne (Michael Hudson) said that all of a sudden you wouldn't know who you were working with. And, you'd have to check her feet to be sure. EW's Marley stood pigeon-toed and EW's Vicky stood with her feet pointing out. Wheeler, who was there on stage, did not seem to know about this!
