DAYS: August 2024 Discussion Thread
So, now on Twi/X there is a raging debate between 2 groups. Group 1 says Gabi & Chad slept together but did not have sex, instead they actually slept. Group 2 says of course they had sex. This looks to be the fight of the century!!! Only DAYS fans could become so absorbed over an ancient question!!!

This is one thing that I really like about the collaborative effort of fans in online messaging. If one person doesn't catch something, it is likely that someone else will. Now that you posted this, I well remember reading it. I found it, I guess you'd say, endearing. The idea that after LIAMST she said to herself, "Never again!" And, then, thank goodness, Donovan sorta talked her into trying again. I personally find Monica to be such an imposing character. I heard recently that LC may be coming back to our screens again soon & I hope & pray that it is truthful & accurate. I miss Monica!

Your daily (or nightly) thought
I just had the oddest experience with Paramount+. I had a sub for one month of it LIVE. I contacted them to cancel at the end of that month. They offered me 3 free months. A month went by & they wanted to charge me. I indicated I was not going to pay & told them why. They said did I not see it was still a great deal, just pay for one month & the other two in fact would be free. I laughed at them & said NO. I pretty much felt like a company like them was just running a scam. What is the world coming to?

Excellent point. She wasn't. JFP has been involved with so many shows but she never once touched AMC.

These are Guiding Light episodes from 1953. Each of them says "created by Irna Phillips" as part of its title. Vintage, rare. https://rumble.com/v5d2cbh-the-guiding-light-1-25-1953.html https://rumble.com/v5d2cmd-the-guiding-light-1-27-1953.html https://rumble.com/v5d2cua-the-guiding-light-1-24-1953.html https://rumble.com/v5d2d2l-the-guiding-light-3-25-1953.html

I agree about the violence. In soap terms, though, he did deserve to die. He's just been asking for it. I was thinking that he's dead, a GONER, maybe your way is what will actually happen. I couldn't help but wonder if Krazy Kristina in the process of committing suicide will accidentally shoot Sam.

But, Jagger did so much more than suckage. They made him into a monster. Just his treatment of Kristina alone warranted I'm not sure what but in other circumstances I am quite sure he'd have been turned in to his FBI superiors & would've gotten into a whole heap of trouble. The behavior of the judge alone should have been a huge clue. And the prosecuting attorney read him for trash.

I have heard other stories, including these, also. Personally I am aware of Nixon functioning in a consultant position at different times. And, I have read that about her other places, not just Schemering. Schemering as we know was right a lot of the time but when he was wrong, it would usually be something huge.

I'm not sure why you seem to have a problem with what I posted. I was not disputing anything you said. My only point was the circumstances of Kelly Monaco who parleyed Livvie into a several decade career, at least going by her own account. If people aren't interested, that's fine. It literally has nothing to do with Guza or with Brenda. Those aspects exist on their own. This neither takes away from them nor supports them. It's primarily about Frons. I found it interesting & shared it. That's it. It was just a wild thought. Trying to imagine how in heck Sonny is gonna get out of what he did today.

According to Schemering it was Fred Silverman who hired Leslie Charleson to be the Monica recast. So, not Donovan. At the same time he was taking the show from 45 minutes to an hour. Also at the same time Jackie Smith, then ABC Daytime Head, asked Agnes Nixon who should she hire to write both for a group of adults as well as a bunch of teens. (Marland) It was Nixon, also, who recommended Gloria Monty as the new EP.

GH: August 2024 Discussion Thread
She & Mo have a zoom scheduled together on the Saturday before November sweeps begins the following Thursday. Yesterday I re-read KeMo's account of what happened when they heard that PC was being canceled. According to her, back then, in DIGEST, every network offered her a job. She'd been a GH fan herself & so she was leaning toward GH. Brian Frons told her he would create a character for her. Hang on, maybe I can find that article. Sorry, the date can't be seen.

Yes, that is who I meant. I am pretty sure I read it with Monty. If so, here's another for the ERRORS thread. Not surprised. Nor even dismayed.

Other FOJs include: Kale Brown, AW to OLTL; Larry Lau, AW to OLTL; Jensen Buchanan, AW to GH; Linda Dano, just generally speaking; Tim Gibbs, SB to AW. As far as the Ted/Tad storyline goes, I loved it. Part of that was Nola Orsini, Ted's mother. She was played by Barbara Rush, who died this past winter.

It's always been of interest to me, at least, that Betty Rea cast her when she had no role for her. At that time Rea was the Casting Director for BOTH ATWT & GL. She was trying to find a Morgan for GL. She supposedly said that there was no way that this girl was a Morgan but that someone was going to snap her up & it might as well be her. Later Marland called her his "Muse." Of course, she is famous for both Nola & for Iva, two more different roles are hard to imagine. As the use for Nola & Iva began to wane, one of those soaps hired her as Acting Coach. It's Susan Brown & she played Gail Baldwyn. My mind just played Mix & match.

Yes, Monty took 3 people from BRIGHT PROMISE to go to GH. Third person Gail Brown? Susan Baldwyn? Might have to look that up. And, also, yes, about Tom Donovan, Lesley Charleson & LIAMST, all that, yes, too. Also, though I think there was something about the head of ABC Daytime & Lesley Charleson. Again, might have to look that one up. I believe, though, that LC's star was shining particularly brightly about then.
