  1. That passage, so small you can barely call it a passage, but it blew me away.
  2. A few things I've happened upon recently. First a picture of Ralph Camargo acting as a Justice of the Peace, marrying Rachel & Mac, some marriage. Camargo is the father of Victoria Wyndham & Felice Camargo. VW & Felice both worked on GL. Then VW was cast as Rachel, of course. Felice became her manager. Ralph Camargo was Mexican-American. Out of Chicago he & his wife worked extensively in soaps on radio. Then when soaps moved to TV he had a much harder time finding work. When you couldn't see him, when you just heard his voice he did not face racial discrimination. When the visual was added & you could see him, he began to face racial discrimination. He was very outspoken in urging his daughters to not use the Camargo name. VW's son who acts, Christian was proud of his family heritage & has taken Camargo as the surname he uses. VW & Felice's mother, Florence Skeels also acted on soaps & she & her husband both worked on the stage, too. Next 2 newspaper articles about the same people & subjects.
  3. IMO, Dee Hall & Susan Seaforth-Hayes, together, ARE the show. I hear that some fan thinks the character of Marlena should be rested & I go on to wonder what fan has lost their mind. And, do we need to help them into a wambulance Stet!??
  4. Jeff Phillips is someone I liked & also thought he probably was underappreciated. He does good work in these scenes. I was just watching the Country Club scenes and not for the first time, boy, Kimberly Simms is on fire!!
  5. I am sure that they considered bringing back a male descendant of the Ward family. I just wish they'd gone through with it. Granted, it was a time when they seemed to do a lot of cogitating about things & people - Wards, Cassadines - but not nearly enough pulling of triggers to make some of those things happen. Lately, they have done some better in the doing things category. Segregated writing? If you ask me what GH has is systemic racism at the level of the organization which is arguably worse. See, I think they think they're in fine shape, racially. Only they're not.
  6. The first instant I recognized the speech. "The world has gone crazy. Or maybe it's just me." They rush into the room,p ressuring her & saying that something terrible has happened about Spaulding, she does a silent take & then ... laughs, the most wonderful laugh, with it she communicates how very ridiculous this situation is. Then, a few months later GL 5-13-91 "I must make a note to myself Never have another family dinner party, ever. And, will someone please pass Beth the dam*ed butter."
  7. Manually copy/pasting what will not quote ... Now, this makes zero sense to me but I can only make a wild guess that this is meant to be a dig at me because of my recent post about JFP & the murder of Frankie Frame. So, to clarify, I have always said that I am not an insider. I am not taking over any threads. And, I have not changed what I have described as happening from my point of view. So, all of this is entirely without merit & only nonsense. Jill, focus groups, Paulina or Frankie, all of it, no changes!!! And, also, NOT misinformation. I've said before & I am glad to repeat it. I think we all of us do better when we post talking about the topic at hand & NOT about each other. I have nothing to say about these 2 posters.
  8. Now, she could have done justice to that role IF they'd tweaked it just a little. I know some people think she is very one note but I think that's because she played one role for so long. I believe she has really great range. She just rarely has any chance to take it out & roll it around.
  9. That's fair. I think sometimes it can be a very difficult job. And, clearly being HW can be exhausting. Burnout is likely an automatic possibility.
  10. Well, I hope you know that when she said that she was at best splitting hairs, or dissembling & much more likely, outright lying. I believe she was playing a little game, telling herself the white lie that ultimately it was the writer who did the deed. That would be ignoring who began it, which was clearly & totally Jill. She set it up. She held one of her focus groups. She tasked them with deciding between Judi Evans & Alice Barrett. Once they decided she passed along their decision. Yes, then, MDP did have to include it in her long story & the other writers may have had to further the process. So, did Jill kill Frankie Frame? I do not see any reply that fits except YES SHE DID. What do you see? The funniest thing about this whole Jill thing is that she said there was someone she could name but that she wasn't going to do that, no, she would not name names. So she adopted this position of supposed nobility, not a rat, not a tattletale, etc. 3 weeks later, Locher Room again, and I heard her say: It wasn't me. It was the writer! She said it 3 times. I laughed my fool head off,
  11. Okay. No point belaboring this uh ... point. Just say 1 more thing. Cat is quirky & she can dam* well play quirky.
  12. She's 2 years older than Michael O'Leary! So, how is it you see a problem? I do not.
  13. Well, I for one am amazed. I thought that of all people I knew every single thing I dislike JFP for. Wrong! She was the idiot who caused GL to miss out on having Cat as Mindy.
  14. Well, she did THE CITY & CAPITOL.
  15. OMG! My eyes! I'm only barely awake & immediately the spirit of one of the worst things that ConWest visited upon us is staring me in the face! I'm gonna need to go back to bed & get up all over again & hope this was just a very bad dream.
  16. I always says that any role can be recast but not every role should be. I love Marj & I particularly loved her on AMC. But, I think that Beverlee & Bernau made the recasting difficult. And, again I bring out that P&G were cheapskates, at least at this point. But remember on GL Grant never wore anything skimpier than those tiny white shorts but on AMC he wore a Speedo, often.
  17. Chasing the W18-34 demo was something that all soaps did after a certain point. It was a plague visited upon the entire genre. I contend that it was basically a lie but the ad agencies had so much power, with the show, yes, but more, with the almighty Nielsen ratings. What year was that foisted upon us? It can be checked.
  18. The last time this came up I declined to reply, but what the hey. My information is that Grant was, or, no, became aware that 2 people were dominating the time available for front burner A storyline, him & KZ. And, at that point he let it be known that he would be okay with taking a sacrificial hit to give other people some of that frontburner time & space. Then, later, when it seemed like Philip was needed again, he was not sure about the believability, but someone convinced him that they could & would write it in a way where it would work. IIRC he had some BTS type understanding about script writing so he made them show him how they'd do it & when they satisfied him, it went forward. I'm not at all sure if I've answered your question but perhaps I have answered a question adjacent to it. I think this story makes some people uncomfortable because it paints this soap actor as unselfish. The thing is I believe many of them, are. Sure, notably, some are not. But so what? Not everyone has to be the same. I think Raines suffered because he was not Bernau. In like fashion I think Dusay suffered by not being Beverlee. The two former actors were so brilliant in their roles that anyone who tried to follow their act may have been doomed. But, what a redemption it was!!! Well, it seems to me that 4 deaths by commercial air calamity is too much, too many, but at least they were separated by a number of years. That's it, yes! And, they went on to marry. Besides directing THE SECRET STORM for about 15 years, Monty also directed a number of B movies, used as, well, later to be called Movie of the Week. So, those tropes were right in her wheelhouse!!!
  19. That was great fun! And, yeah, that wasn't just almost a fall, it looked like it could have been a very very bad fall!!! I love Bolger as a wild man. I think he is seriously undervalued as an actor. KZ can sing. So can RN, plus he also plays the piano. And, Ron Raines, my god he was gifted with a natural set of pipes & unless I am way off he's spent a lot of time in training his voice, his breath control, etc. I'd go so far as to say RR is a singer who can incidentally act a bit. Paul Anthony Stewart also has an amazing voice & he uses it well. It makes me laugh to think of Kim worrying about breaking the 4th wall. This is not Reva. This is Kim!!!
  20. I think most of you are way too hard on Raines & maybe on that dame, too!
  21. Even more he over lit everything! Plus only he knew what clothes women should wear, down to collar & color!! Can we spell control freak?
  22. I mean, it was handled so poorly it could be written up as textbook what NOT to do!!! Wrong decision and then MADD's appalling quote.
  23. Co-sign all of that & add PROTEUS!!!!! Karla Mosely was on GL & then on B&B. Frank & Blake got together & he has a new daughter Francesca. Eleni's been on primetime for years. LOL Ed stops by & gives her 16 minutes to pack & go around the world with him & she is in this great striped shirt. Playing the last Shane, quite well!! Francesca is Natalia's daughter. Natalia is with Olivia. It's complicated. I was just thinking that I don't watch the last episode by itself. I watch the last 3 days together. You will get that later. Maybe even the last 5 days.
