Perfect. Everything around this is such a performance. I really wonder how this is landing with normie offline voters.

So now we know who the shooter is and this is a case of Nazi on Nazi crime. The right wingers are killing each other which makes perfect sense because that's how cults work but now that they can't blame the usual suspects I expect most of this stuff to die down after the monster's funeral. I hope the shooter takes a plea because a trial will be the biggest circus in the world.

54 percent of Latino men voted for Trump. That voting bloc has a lot of internal work to do.

This is a perfect example of why I'm staying on the sidelines and watching how things shake out. It's also why I'm not thinking about the midterms and/or 2028. By the midterms we will be looking at two years of deportations, internments, and the GOP deporting and harassing their own supporters. Hopefully certain demos wake up.

I think that comes with speeding up the storytelling. The Agnes Nixon mantra of "make 'em laugh, make 'em cry, make 'em wait" isn't going to work with new viewers. For example I'm glad we didn't have to sit through six months of the Martin story with the same hushed conversation over and over. They built it up and pulled the trigger (so to speak). Maybe when the show really found its lane and audience they can draw things out more.

I’m finally caught up. Some thoughts: I think the show is coming together nicely. I had some trouble connecting with it earlier but it’s slowly become a bit of pop culture comfort food for me. I feel like a lot of the actors have finally figured out who their characters are. We’re starting to see some of these actors and characters break out. Shanice is a perfect example of this. The actress & character popped so the show gave her more to do and that turned her into the kind of connective character soaps have always needed. She added layers to Bill’s stroke and the Ashley/Derek story, such as it was. After all these months I’ve decided which characters I care about: Anita & Vernon, Nicole Martin/Smitty family and which ones I don’t: anything and everything to do with Chelsea. Just to be clear, I know I’m not the target audience for Chelsea and/or her stories. She’s meant to appeal to the Gen-Z/infuencer set and I hope it’s paying off. One of the things I appreciate is how the different generations on this show speak in ways that are authentic. I don’t understand half of what Chelsea, Kat, Tyrell, or Samatha say but the older characters sound just fine to me. Kudos to the script writers. Soaps are a generational art form and this show gets that and the “Martin’s Secret” storyline shows that. I can’t imagine a Black viewer of any age who couldn’t relate to “our car broke down on a dark road and white racists showed up and wanted to kill us.” Anyway I have more thoughts but my edible is kicking in.

First NPR gets their funding pulled. Now Colbert gets canceled. I hope people are beginning to see that those who thought they could keep shitting on Dems for clicks, clout, and engagement played themselves in ways we are just beginning to see. A lot of people thought they’d would be insulated from the fallout of putting this monster back in office and I’m going to enjoy watching them discover how wrong they. As for Colbert, I don't have anything against him. As far as the Daily Show types go he's one of the better ones but for me, the Late Show being cancelled means there's one less place Bernie and AOC can go to launder their anti-Dem talking points. I'm especially grateful Colbert will be gone by the midterms and I’d be thrilled if Stewart were too. Another thing to consider is that late night TV is pretty much dying and has been for years. (Anybody who has watched the HBO show "Hacks" has probably seen some of this conversation.) The fact that CBS isn’t continuing the show with another host is a tell. I expect other networks to follow suit. The one I’m interested in is SNL when Lorne Michaels retires.

The fixation on the Epstein files is absolutely ridiculous to me. These people put a rapist in the White House. Just today Jim Jordan is finally being deposed in the Ohio State sex abuse scandal. They've shown sexual predation doesn't matter to them. This seems to be what everyone wants to talk about but I couldn't care less.

The NYC mayor's is basically a choice between three flavors of garbage: the racist, the jihadist, and the criminal. I genuinely feel sorry for the residents of the city who would like a halfway decent government. At this point Mike Bloomberg could say "Hey, write me in if none of these choices work for you." (I'm kidding. Sort of.) Meanwhile, the left is incapable of running a functional general election campaign against Republicans and certainly not in an electorate with a large percentage of Black voters so the next few months are going to be a shitshow. The NY Times "hit" piece is just the beginning and I'm happy to sit back and watch other shoes drop.

Because Black people weren't taking part in the protests. Now that the cops have escalated to violence, the news is all over it.

Bloodshed is inevitable now. It’s another reason I’m glad Black people aren’t getting involved in these protests. As awful as this is, I keep reminding myself that 54 percent of Latino men voted for Trump. These people were put in harm’s way by members of their own communities and sometimes even members of their own families. Too many people decided to touch the stove.

I'm not gearing this at you specifically but I wish people would stop talking about Manchin and Sinema. They're gone. The haters got what they wanted. Fetterman and Adams are the problems in front of us now. I'm hoping Fetterman can be convinced to resign and as for Adams, I think Andrew Cuomo will be the next mayor of NYC.

I'm just curious how this ends for him. From where I sit these are the options: He resigns and Shapiro names his replacement (my preference). In my perfect world, he's replaced by a Black woman but I'm not going to pretend that I understand internal PA politics so I defer to people on the ground. I've noticed nobody has called for him to step down the way they did for Al Franken. Perhaps they learned a lesson there. He stays and is primaried in 2028. That's exactly the kind of ugliness we don't need and it's exactly what the far left wants. They are obsessed with primaries. Bernie taught them primaries are all that matter. Another drawback is that there's no telling how much harm Shrek could do in the meantime given that he's clearly a danger to himself and others. They could expel him from the Senate. That's not going to happen. Mother Nature takes care of this for us which brings us back to Shapiro naming his opponent.

Watching the cult of Fetterman collapse is one of the few political bright spots for me. The best part is watching all the people who built him up now decide they want to tear him down. I'll be fascinated to see how this ends for him. https://buckscountybeacon.com/2025/05/pennsylvanias-democratic-senator-john-fetterman-raises-alarms-with-outburst-at-meeting-with-union-officials/

That clip has completely set the leftists off. I love it. They want to see her defeated and sad. The timing is perfect given those hands-off protests tomorrow because a lot of us will be at home saying "we told you so."

But none of this is new. This is exactly where we were eight years ago. The white left was celebrating the fact that Trump won and attacking Black Dems (We're seeing that now with the attacks on Jeffries, Clyburn, and Booker.) Bernie was doing his white grievance rallies and crapping on Dems Leftists were fixating on primary challenges White Dems doubled down on chasing the "working class" People keep screaming at the Democrats they hate - the ones they refuse to vote for - to save them. People who didn't vote right decide to do a pointless protesting. Last time it was the Womens March, this time its April 5. We already lived through this. None of it is new and it was all unavoidable.

"meet the moment" "urgency" That's all about vibes and vibes are how we got here. Schumer is the reason the courts have been able to stop Trump. Not just because the government is still open but because he and Joe Biden stayed laser focused on filling as many judgeships as they could. The screw up was pushing Biden out but people don't want to admit that so they've doubled down on "Yeah, we know we suck." Exactly why would I vote for that? I'm also not interested in bashing Schumer because he's just the latest scapegoat. In Trump's first term it was Pelosi. During Biden's term it was Garland. Dems can't move forward because a coalition can't work without a basic level of trust and that trust is gone. But like I said, I'm out. Like so many Black women, I'm #MindingMyBlackAssBusiness and #ReclaimingMyTime.

I really think people are doing themselves a disservice by constantly calling back to plots and characters on other shows. BTG should be judged on its own merits. Let’s leave Todd and Marty and rape storylines in the past at least for a while. This is a new show trying to forge its own path and hopefully helping to bring the soap genre back from a self-inflicted near-death. We don’t need to worry about a Todd/Marty redux because it’s not a story anyone wants to see. It was groundbreaking back then. Now it’s a weekly episode of SVU.

As soon as Nicole told her to get something out of Kat's closet I wondered what the hell she was thinking. Kat's going to lose it when she sees pics of Eva in her dress. Everybody looked so beautiful in this ep. At the same time this ceremony felt weirdly small. The whole ceremony was just Nicole's family members telling a room full of other family members how awesome she is. In this case I'm willing to trade extras in the scene for the fabulous fashions.
