  1. That will definitely be the end of TraLu - besides, that was part of the Spencermaine family. For a few years we had an absolutely amazing mixed family. That's history now, and we're left with the scraps. I'm not surprised JMB wants to leave on a high note. There's not much more she can do in this medium, and she's well positioned to succeed elsewhere.

  2. I've been feeling them just fine, but I think a few factors are different - one is TG looks to be over his cold, two is they actually have a story of substance rather than his whining about a 'love' that was a joke, three has got to be working with KS again. Of course, all of it underscores my complete conviction that Luke's most passionate feelings in the whole Laura/Scotty/Luke thing have always been and continue to be about Scotty. If they are have a Tracy/Luke/Scotty/Laura story, the only lightweight will of course be overly pimped as always, but at least three of the four are the most entertaining characters GH has ever had, and they are great friends off camera as well - that always translates. The last time the three shared the stage was the Black & White Ball, and the Tracy/Luke/Scott scenes were the best part of that entire experience.

  3. You know, I've been thinking about this thread and watching it sink from the top, where we used to be a constant. I realize other shows/characters get attention, but it's not lost on me that the heyday of the Lovefest was when Luke and Tracy were at their peak. That's not a coincidence.

  4. Oh, I know it will happen (the writers want to see the 'conflict' between the two Loves of Luke's Life blah, blah, blah..... I just don't want to witness it.

As for Duke, if he is going to romance Tracy for the corporate good, I'm going to have a fit. Except for Luke and Joe, that is ALL Tracy has even been used for.

  5. Sorry Jin, I'm completely opposed to the idea of Tracy and Laura even being in the same building let alone same scene. Laura is the Marlena of GH - eats the scenery and is overused, pushing all the actresses with REAL talent into the background, and yet people are under the assumption that the show wouldn't be good without them. In actual fact, the show is usually BETTER without them. They are emotional black hole characters and were done almost two decades ago. I really hate pandering.

It is good to see Tracy mixing it up, I just hope they do more with the character than corporate espionage. The overall character regression I'm seeing is really not pleasant to watch. Guza had his problems, but at least he was willing to push the characters into new challenges. Everything I'm seeing is c. 1992. I already watched that, and I'm not interested in watching it again. I wouldn't be surprised if the underlying cause of TG's 'less than energetic' performance with everyone aside from JE, is a combination of his health and his disgust. I remember he once said viewers would be able to tell when he was unhappy by the way he did a scene. He only seems to bring energy to the scene with JE. Perhaps the time has come for TG to go 'out in a blaze of glory'. It would certainly be a memorable thing for the 50th anniversary.

  6. Wow, and these are the people who are supposed to 'adore' Tracy? I don't think so. I think they are all in a time warp and myopic when it comes to character development. They've taken Luke away from her, then Lulu, then Joe, and now Connie. Luke, poor bugger, is a shadow of himself, Lulu is obsession over home and hearth like a mini-Laura circa 1990s, which is not who she should be, Joe they killed just as he had potential, and Kate is a pale reflection of Connie. I don't really think these writers have a clue. They want to resurrect old characters, but where is the progression and character growth? It's not there.

Watching soaps is a painful experience these days. I feel like all the writers think the viewers are idiots, so just throw party tricks and 'vets' at them, and they won't notice that their story telling abilities are bankrupt.

  7. I think those two things are on the same level IMO. Lets hope the vampire stuff ends sooner rather than later, 'cause I'm afraid we are stuck with the other bloodsucker. I'm really disappointed that they brought Lynn Herring back for this. Some things should stay in the past.

I want to see this Nurses' Ball get moving. I really like Sabrina, and if she starts hanging around Tracy more because of everything, then it's pretty clear who this "Lauren Frank" is going to be. I'd much rather her than Britch for the long lost one. Ages match up better, too. Tracy, Connie and Sabrina would be an extremely interesting combination to watch. Those two would have little Brina all growed-up in no time.

  8. I love them, too. I was trying to think of a time when Tracy had a BFF to scheme with that was female and came up blank. Can anyone else think of one? It's cool that Tracy finally has a female friend. And I LOVE that the friendship is based on mutual kindness over a shared grief of sorts. It makes the connection more deep and legitimate.

TG has looked and sounded rough the past couple of days. Whatever that illness that had him out for so long was must have taken its toll. I agree that you can tell they've really toned back the closeness factor in Luke and Tracy's relationship, but I think that may be a personal decision by the actors because you can see JE reacting in the background on Luke's call to Anna (even before the overt "bony" crack). These two are pros enough that they can turn that chemistry on whenever they want to inject it into a scene no matter what dialogue they're given so I'm going with personal acting choice.

I'm one of the few here who doesn't have any issues with GF, but I've never been a fan of the Laura character. She's selfish, self-indulgent, sanctimonious and tries to hide behind a lot of righteousness more often than not. From her roots with David Hamilton, running out on Scotty (one of my favorite old-school GH characters), worrying Lesley to death, marrying her rapist, hiding a child from her husband and then sleeping with his enemy after they separated, to the (unfair) mess Guza turned her into, Laura is not a character I'm inclined to root for, mostly because (like with Sonny and Carly) she's never apologetic for her actions no matter what irreparable damage they've caused. That said, it's evident there is an extremely vocal fanbase out there that won't settle for anything less than a LnL HEA (and I use that term loosely since its been firmly established that Laura doesn't really make Luke all that happy). I'm pretty sure if they're bringing Laura back, it's to usher off Tony.

Good points. I'm hoping for TG's sake that if they are sacrificing the character on the alter of LnL yet again, that this is the final swan song. If that's the case, than it can't help but be reflected in JE's acting and attitude - how many times have we seen her gush about working with TG, and she's hardly interviewed. It always comes up, though. If he's truly exiting, then she's going to play Tracy very differently. Both Tracy and JE would be loosing their "Husband".

Agreed on comparing Laura with Sonny and Carly. You hit the nail. I have serious issues with anyone, actor or non, who is hateful and then expects adoration from others, so I've no use for GF. But the character of Laura itself is just a disaster. Characters to root for tend to be self-aware, repentant, and willing to take their licks. I'm still of the opinion that many fans "like" the character because they think they're supposed to, rather than really liking her. If the whole LnL thing wasn't so huge, the character wouldn't even deserve a footnote because she's not very impressive.

I'm drawing a blank on Tracy ever having girl-friends. She's had Luke and Marco over the years, but never a woman. It's nice to see. Hell, it's nice to see anyone who's not one of the Luke Spencers, appreciate who she is. Hardly anyone falls into that category, regardless of gender.

  9. I doubt AnnL is the worst pairing in GH history - it's not even the worst pairing in Luke's history - but I hope your conclusion is wrong. Even if some think it's "inevitable" (which I don't believe it has to be), it would be awful to see the end of possible story for Luke like that, 'cause you know if he's back with "his Angel", Luke is done. All they will have is Mr. Laura being played by TG again. Worst. Mistake. Possible. The 90's were horrible for Luke because of that.

  10. No, she's right - a recast is probably something worth looking at. We start with the reality that JE has chemistry with everyone that crosses her path, and move up from there.

IMO it wasn't even that SC had great mother/son chemistry with JE, it was the whole Spencermaine family just worked exceptionally well. It's right up there with the Jones, Scorpio and Q families as far as ensembles. Any combination was fabulous, and when the lot were together it was off the charts.

  11. Agreed. And she doesn't even play them well. It must be frustrating working with the best, then being potentially forced to be with the less-than.

I'd like Ned and Dillon back too, unfortunately the reality is both actors are employed elsewhere. I can't ever see them making Connie a Q, but I do like the dynamic between Connie and Tracy.

  12. We don't know why GF signed up aside from $$, like most of the cast. Time is hard for actors, especially of a certain age, and a job is a job is a job. I doubt there's anything even partially reflecting nobility. They are signed to do a job, and they certainly aren't going to dictate to writers what they will perform. That doesn't happen. It's all up to the writers, and if they are going to pander, the actors will go there too.

You're right though, most speaking viewers want that reunion.... but then again most speaking viewers will read/watch anything without reflection, so I'm not surprised. Escapism is the name of the game. Those who value story for the integrity of story are usually out of luck.

  13. I don't think it's even a case of "keep the faith", I think it's all going to come down to whether or not these writers actually know how to tell a real story, OR if they are going to go for the cheap points. If it's cheap, we're going to be force fed the drivel and I hope TG retires for his own sake. If we are going to get real story, the writers won't go for the easy. Unfortunately, reading around the dial on this show and others, most fans (at least those online) don't care much for actual story and development, they just want the comfy, familiarity of yesteryear, or if not that, they want the quick pairing without logic, so long as they are paired. Personally, that kills the show for me. I don't think nostalgia is the best place to live.

  14. TBH,it does look like he tries too hard when he's with GF but you can totally tell the diff w/ JE

He's actually natural with the rest of the Adventure Gang, natural with his kids, even natural with the Adventure Gang's kids. But wow is it different when he's stuck in a scene with laura/GF. JE really needs to be put into that Adventure Gang, and if they must have GF there, have her with the hospital crew or some other domestic stuff. Luke's character has to change way too much, and he ends up being gutted.

  15. I don't think she was. I know Frisco is back starting today and Genie later this week, but do we know how long they are here for and what's their story while here?? I saw a cover of SOD or SID that said L&L were having a "big" reunion?!? *GAG*

You know, aside from the fact that I've never liked any character GF has played, ever (soap, miniseries, movie-of-the-week), I can't stand that TG's Luke can't be free of that albatross. The poor guy's career has suffered terribly. Sure he's made money as Luke, but he's an actor who wasn't able to go very far because of the notoriety. On principle headlines like that make me want to puke - and that's before I start to tap into my dislike of the hype around that pairing. With any luck the "reunion" is a hello at Kelly's, and nothing else. TG always looks like he's got a stick up his ass when he has to work with GF as it is. Compare that to how natural it is with JE, and my dislike just explodes.

  16. Just saw LuNacy from yesterday. Man, those two are the most natural thing going. I love it when they are scheming like that, and Tracy taking the food from Luke's fork was so cute - speaks to how deeply connected they are. LuNacy working together is always a beautiful thing.

And I knew Luke and Tracy wouldn't be left without an Edward reference. The writers have it on the money, nothing would keep Luke from Tracy except Luke being locked away (or TG needing medical attention in another continent). Now that the two are in it together, I'm starting to get interested in this story.

  17. YESS!! I ♥ them now!! After watching the scenes and thinking about it for a while they are totally alike and also after today's show when Sonny was confronting her (i guess) it did remind me of Tracy. They're new girlfriends lol! BFF's!!! But I do love them biggrin.png

I know the whole age thing is off, considering the recast Kate/Con is quite a bit younger than the character, but when Kate The First arrived in PC years ago, I thought she would make a perfect Long Lost for Tracy. Now I'm thinking Connie would make an even better one.

  18. Saw the Tracy/Connie stuff from the last few days, and I'm really liking the dynamic between the two. Love how Connie is calling Tracy on her ish, all the while offering her support. I think there is quite the power dynamic there. Also like the Luke reference. No matter what, Tracy and Luke are connected and I'm happy to see the new regime hasn't thrown them totally under the bus.

And Sonny getting the blame was hilarious. All those years he was the Teflon Don, and now he's getting hit when he truly is taking the high road.
