  1. Those numbers point pretty strongly that just about all the cast are on 1 or 2 a week guarantees. I guess anyone who is over will be cut back at some point to average it out.

Great to see Beth in the Top 10. Traci has been used consistently so really should be given a contract.

I suspect Camryn must also be on the 'contract that's actually recurring' also.

  2. Take a deep breath Slick!

  3. Can Josh Morrow really decide what his storyline is and what involvements he wants for Nick?

Still puzzled as to why GCAC can have background people but CL is always empty.

Anyway today's director was smart and kept to tight shots in CL and Society so the lack of extras wasn't noticeable.

Sharon Case isn't looking her best. Let's leave it at that.

  4. Keeping Clarice could have worked, and in time Cory could have been SORASED. Instant story as he becomes interested in his real father. Maybe Robert dies and leaves him money etc

Clarice's had brothers Denny and Leigh. Both could have returned rather than creating new characters.

Question--do you all want the show to be kitchen sink with everyone being middle class, a melange of have/have nots, or simply upwardly mobile characters?

Definitely not mega wealthy characters, but some well to do and others striving to move up. A mix of relatable characters whose lifestyles can be depicted realistically within the budget of a daytime show.

And if there are businesses, again something specific that can be utilized if needed-not one of those vague corporations.

  6. Interesting to see Dr Leong in the cast list. Most likely an Asian character/actor which was unusual at the time.

I'm not sure what ABC's strategy was with NTY-obviously targeting the youth audience but limited because of that. Dark Shadows had youth appeal but initially was a more adult serial.

  7. AS THE WORLD TURNS

Mr.   _______ Reynolds       Herb  Nelson  Aug/Sept   1967    hospital administrator dealing with the Steiner case. Under pressure from Michael Shea to discipline Bob Hughes, who, under threat of a lawsuit, resigns from Memorial hospital.

Rose ____  Brando     Ethel Everett (Remey)   1967 , 1968  wife of Mr. Brando. Bob Hughe's loyal patient, upset he was leaving Oakdale for Vermont.(1967) Impressed that Bob was doing so well as a doctor without his eyesight (to Pa Hughes); It was Bob's opinion that Mr. Brando would recover fully if she were to spend less time with her husband, alleviating the stress on his system.

Al James   Donald Madden    Aug - Dec   57    taunted Penny and Jeff,  Jeff killed him

TBH, if I had my druthers, Lucy (or someone) would launch a whole new campaign: "The Face of Deception...is You."  It would signify that, in this day and age, there's more than one standard for beauty; that every female, or every individual who self-identifies as female, is the "Face of Deception," because every female is beautiful.

That would fly . Especially as that's how big business is operating these days. Show that your diverse/inclusive to look good.

You're beautiful as you are- but you need to spend your hard earned $$$ on all this stuff we're shilling.

  9. Hopefully there will be photos and stories from this event.

As for being blocked, posters are entitled to do that. Just as everyone else is entitled to post freely (within guidelines)

I enjoy most of the posts and those that I disagree with or dislike, I simply move on. Don't think it's worth my time to be annoyed/upset.

  10. @GymnastGuy thanks so much for sharing this. Although ultimately cancelled, NTY is an important part of soap history for what it attempted.

These scripts give us much more insight into character and story / Hope you will post more.

Agreed Ilene Kristen's stories about how Ryan's Hope was filmed straight through versus how One Life to Live filmed in blocks according to which set was used, was fascinating.  Especially, in light of recent discussions about DAYS and contemporary soap production schedules.  They filmed each episode in 40 minutes, and actors who couldn't keep up were dropped (like Frank Latimore aka Ed Coleridge).

Taping the show straight through was standard practice at that time. It was only when shows went to an hour that they began taping out of sequence. I remember reading that Days struggled when they went to an hour because they were still trying to tape the show straight through and it was too hard on the actors.

At some point I assume RH  was no longer 'live tape' and began taping out of sequence as tape editing became more sophisticated.

  12. Seeking some clarity re Lynne Adams. She played Leslie 66-71.

Did she choose to leave? I imagine so.

GL recast with Kathryn Hays and then Barbara Rodell. Did they drop Kathryn when Barbara was killed off on Secret Storm, perhaps feeling Barbara would do better in the role?

I'm assuming Kathryn wasn't there long and wasn't working out for whatever reason.

Then also in 71 Lynne takes over as Amy on Secret Storm and plays that role until Jada Rowland decides to return to the role. I can see why SS would want Jada as she was t most identified with that role.

If Lynne left GL to spread her wings she wasn't away long before coming back to soaps.

So Lynne is out of a job at SS so GL drops Barbara so Lynne can return.

However it appears Barbara was popular as Leslie so why would GL dump her for Lynne?

Can anyone give a definitive response/timeline?
