  1. Daisy/Monique was introduced on AMC  in 1980, correct??

Anyway, she wasn’t really a bitch, was she??

Her backstory does have shades of Alexis, though (or vice versa).

Erica, while certainly a bitch, was more lighthearted than Alexis.

Can't think of anyone to add to the list, so I'll just say that it wasn't just that the soaps copied Alexis, they copied the money and power structures from the primetime soaps. Sure there were some characters with money on daytime soaps before the primetime trend hit, but most of the soaps were still middle class oriented.

Which soaps had wealthy families from the very start, predating the prime-time soaps of DALLAS and DYNASTY??

I can think of the Agnes Nixon soaps, with the Tyler Family (matriarch: Phoebe English Tyler, AMC) and the Lord Family (patriarch: Victor Lord, OLTL).

I don’t believe GH got one until the Quatermaine Family in the late ‘70s.

  2. 1994 was an interesting year for Erica - after she had been found ‘Not Guilty’ for the “attempted murder” of Dimitri (due to temporary insanity), she has to “start over” and pick up the pieces of her life.

Erica decides to return to modeling, since she had subsequently lost Enchantment,  but the aging Erica is met with a lukewarm response - with the young models saying, “Erica, WHO??.”

The whole thing had a Sunset Blvd. vibe - and was quite interesting to see Erica in this position.

There’s a funny scene where Erica locks an Eastern European model in a broom closet in New York, a la I Love Lucy, so the model who dissed her won’t get the gig.

What’s even funnier, though, is when her gal pal, Opal, feels sorry for her, so she offers Erica the opportunity to be spokesperson for her and Palmer’s chain of fried chicken fast food restaurants.

    Erica, of course, respectively declines.

I believe this is around the time Jackson and Erica sleep together in NYC, while he was married to Laurel.

Maybe it's out of line but is there a common sense on who was the BEST Bianca? I was thinking about watching a few episodes for her and one of her storylines but I am want to know where I should land first!

By The way there was 2 Kendalls, Many Biancas but was there more than one Erica? I mean didn't Lucci Get Sick For over 40 years?

I’d say the consensus on the “BEST” Bianca would be Eden Riegel.

To answer your question regarding Erica, I never remember hearing about any replacement actresses to Lucci.

If she got very sick, she must’ve soldiered through..... or perhaps the script was rewritten to accommodate her illness??

Of course, it’s entirely possible; I just have never read anything regarding that (nothing is mentioned in the 2 AMC books I own).

Eileen Letchworth  (Margo Flax) had her facelift Wed Aug 7 1974 and was back onscreen the following Tuesday,as Margo had her bandages removed on camera. In reality they were removed the day before.

Eileen had asked for time off for the procedure and Agnes Nixon decided to write it in for the story and asked Eileen to delay having it done until it fitted better into the plot.

Eileen had already had the bags under her eyes removed 7 years previously.

Margo had her facelift trying to keep a younger man but Eileen was happily married at the time. She was 52 in 1974.

Margo was a HOT MESS!! 💗

(Btw, Carol Burnett has stated that, when she first started watching All My Children, Margo was her favorite character)

  5. ERICA KANE always stayed true to character, no??

I remember people complaining that she would never have kidnapped a baby and passed it off as her own for months - Erica is a narcissist, manipulator & schemer, not a vicious criminal - but that was explained as her having a psychotic break, like when she stabbed Dimitri.

Anyhow, what do you all think??

  6. Regarding All My Children:

I didn’t know Christina’s visions of her dead father continued - after she learned the truth.

I also didn’t know she attempted to drown herself in order to kill herself.

One source - erroneously- had her shallowing a bunch of pills, not attempting to drown herself. (Perhaps she downed some pills beforehand??)

AMC - somewhat - repeated this story with Ceara, having crazy hallucinations of her dead father taunting her for months, who had raped her as a child, with her attempting suicide by jumping from a bridge into the river (she was saved before she could jump by Jeremy and Erica).

    -

Erica demanding Mark to leave Pine Valley, because she had been there longer, made me laugh.

I remember watching this when it aired. It was must see TV!

    Oh, yes!!

I loved when they had Winifred go upstairs to bring Janet and Hayley the chicken dumplings soup (which the police put tranquilizers in).....

    Janet to Winifred:

”Hurry up and put the bowls down or I’ll blow your brains out.”

    🤣🤣

    I love Kate Collins.

  9. Well, Barr did receive an Emmy for her work in that storyline.

But, yes - it did  seem like the writers loved continuously torturing poor Brooke.

Imagine going from dating a child pornographer, who took images/video of your adopted daughter (later going on trial for his murder), to dating the drunk driver, under a new persona, who killed your biological daughter.

That seemed unnecessarily cruel - especially since I believe there was only a few months (possibly a year) between the two storylines.

I’m surprised she didn’t have a complete mental collapse (which actually would’ve been organic, and much more interesting than having her dating monsters or having men constantly leaving her for other women; they should’ve done this after the Jim Thomasen trial. Brooke could’ve fallen in love with a fellow patient in rehab, LOL - a quirky fellow journalist who’s unlucky with women).

Erica would’ve gotten in a few good jabs, too - “Well, my goodness, Brooke - a rehab romance??  It didn’t work for Liz Taylor, and I doubt it will for you.... but at least he isn’t one of my leftovers.”

While Julia Barr is a brilliant actress, and this is a “Daytime Drama,” I’m sure Brooke fans were fed up regarding how she constantly seemed to be put through the wringer.
