So the SAG awards got both Leading categories wrong and they usually get those right.

But BAFTA got both right. I figured them awarding Hopkins was just Brit bias (plus they have a bad track record of recognizing Af-Am talent).

That was the worst Oscar telecast ever. What a boring mess.

Indeed. And they had all those prior pandemic-adjusted ceremonies to learn how to do an entertaining ceremony in these difficult times. The Grammys actually nailed it.

Chloe Zhao becomes the first woman of colour, and second woman overall, to win Best Director. 👏

I’m not a fan of the tidbits about the nominees, like I don’t really care what you’re favorite movie was when you were 8 years old. LOL.  It was a waste of time and I’d rather see clips from the movies.   I’m also not liking Questlove’s DJing (like the record scratching).

    You were right about Frances!

They put Actor last, banking on a Chadwick win, and screwed themselves when an absent Anthony Hopkins won. LOL. You were also right about that, @Toups.

Sounds like it was a good start, though Andy Cokehead is at it again with the messy.

    That said...Latoya ATE...HER...UP!!!

The promo for it was SO snoozeworthy, but apparently it was good? I made the wrong call to watch these lackluster Oscars....

  4. I like winners having more time to speak, but this is boring. Zero atmosphere. No clips for the nominated actors, just last year’s winner gushing at them individually? No stills for the makeup and hair nominees? Isn’t this supposed to be promotional for the films?

The Grammys did a much better job of updating their format this year.

I love the posts on this thread suggesting

to hire Karla Mosley as an official Amanda recast,

and have Mishael Morgan play a returned Hillary.

Thank you to all who suggested that, it's a great idea!

And I would add, have them both on contract at Y&R.

    And then ...
Hire a Black transgender actress as a recast Maya on B&B.

Can you imagine—MM as Hilary, KM as Amanda, and Leigh-Ann Rose as Imani? It would be beyond epic. Classic soap yet groundbreaking. It’s sad that it’s not even remotely a possibility.

B&B could probably hire one of the Pose actresses, like MJ Rodriguez.

For one horrific moment it appeared we were moving towards a Kandy win.

How and why she made it to Top 2 is one of the great mysteries of our time.

RuPaul loves her some Kandy. And to think, she “almost” sent her home.

Those lipsyncs were so lackluster. Kandy basically won hers because Rosé was dancing on one leg. Symone is a worthy winner for this meh season.

    • Best supporting male- Paul Raci, Sound of Metal
    • Best supporting female- Yuh-Jung Youn, Minari

    Full list of winners

I wonder if the recent Ahmed and Hopkins wins suggest Chadwick isn’t as solid as I thought. Hard to know.
