    NOVEMBER 21, 2007-EPISODE #378: DOOMSDAY


    ORPHEUS'S PENTHOUSE

    Lucas and Will come racing up to the barricade and try to force their way through. The police stop them both and tell Lucas that he can't go anywhere. He says that his fiance is in that building but the officer stands firm. As Will and Lucas try once again to go past the officer,......he pulls his gun, and threatens to arrest them if they don't listen to reason.

    The officer then looks at both men, saying that he feels exactly the same way they do. But.....neither of them is trained for this type of action. The men agree and thank the officer as they walk away.

    As they go to another part of the police line, they go and stand by Marlena, who holds out both her hands for them. Will and Lucas take each hand.....and silently pray that their nightmare could be over....

    Once and for all.

    Abe walks over to the three men and asks them what they have decided. Victor and Stefano agree to exchange themselves for Sami and the others. Abe nods his head as Roman walks over and thanks Victor. He then turns and looks at Stefano........and walks away. Maggie walks over to Victor, looks at her man with sadness, and tells him.....

    Maggie: I didn’t think I could love like this again after Mickey.
    Victor: Neither did I.
    Maggie: You come back to me........ok?
    Victor: Yes, my darling. If I should not return.......

    Victor takes off a locket that Isabella gave him before she died........

    Victor: Make sure Greta receives this. (Getting emotional) She’s my little girl, and......
    Maggie: You be strong, now. And you’ll get this when you come back.
    Victor: Thank you, my darling. Bye.

    Victor and Maggie gently kiss and he takes one last look at her before turning and walking away. Maggie starts to cry as Hope runs over and holds her. Maggie rests her head on Hope’s shoulder.

    Victor then sees Nico and tells him to use his best judgment when the stuff really kicks off. Nico nods his head......and, in front of everyone, the two old friends hug each other and shake hands. Victor tells Nico to look after his family for him.....and Nico looks at his Godfather and simply says....

    Nico: As always, Victor.

    And, as Nico and Victor separate.....

    Roman and Marlena walk off to the side of the crowd and have a private moment......

    Roman: I don’t know what to say.
    Marlena: Just say what’s in your heart.
    Roman: (After a pause) Ok. The face....... is different........but my heart..... will always be yours.
    Marlena: Oh, Roman.........
    Roman: Forgive me.......for all my mistakes.

    Maggie, Hope, Victor, Bo and the others watch this loving exchange......

    Marlena: We have been through so much......
    Roman: Yes. We have.
    Marlena: (Starting to cry) You remember one thing, Cop.
    Roman: What’s that, lady?
    Marlena: The sleeping bag will always be there.......for you. Come home to me.
    Roman: And I’ll bring our little girl back as well.

    Roman takes off his wedding ring. It’s the ring he’s had on since he first found out he was Roman Brady and places it in Marlena’s hand........

    Roman: For you.
    Marlena: Oh.......

    He then looks into her beautiful eyes and kisses her on the lips. Marlena grabs and holds him tightly. They pull away as he tells her.....

    Roman: You tell our children.......they mean the world to me. Bye, Doc.

    Roman turns and walks past Stefano on his way to the S.W.A.T. unit as the women walk over and comfort her. Stefano stops him and tells him to make sure not to shoot him. Roman looks at him, smiles ever so slightly, and walks away. Meanwhile, Marlena clutches Roman’s ring in her hand and, as she starts crying.......


    HORTON HOUSE

    Alice and Doug sit in front of the television, watching the hostage scene unfold. Alice tells Doug to have faith. Doug says he doesn’t know how they are going to get out of this one. Alice looks at him and simply says........with love and faith. That’s all any of them have ever had. As Doug turns his attention back to the television, Alice closes her eyes and says a small prayer.....

    Alice: Tom......I know you are listening. Here my prayer, my darling.......and bring them all home safely.

    Alice opens her eyes and watches the television......


    ORPHEUS'S PENTHOUSE

    Stefano sees Lincoln walking up to him. He approaches him and, as they talk, he tells him to place their men into position. He then orders that they open fire if any shots ring out. Lincoln agrees.........and both men shake hands. Stefano then looks at the building and tells Lincoln.....

    Stefano: So many regrets, my friend. So many.

    Lincoln is stunned to see this side of Stefano as he walks off toward the S.W.A.T. team. Cassie tries to walk up to him but he holds her back. He then smiles, kisses her on her cheek and forehead, and quietly tells her that, even with the mistakes she’s made, she has been a gift and a joy to have in his life. She starts to cry, telling her “Papa” not to leave her. He says he must go.....but for her to continue to become the fine woman she is and to listen to her father. He’s a good, good man and she is lucky to have him.

    Roman and Victor turn and see this scene........as Stefano gives Cassie his gold money clip, that was given to him by his father, Santo. He then kisses her again......and walks off before he starts getting emotional. He reaches the truck and regains his composure, saying to the small group of men....

    Stefano: The Phoenix never cries........don’t you know that?

    Roman and Victor can’t help but smile. As the scene shifts, Bo looks at Hope. It is their turn to say what they feel and Bo wastes no time....

    Bo: Well.........you know the play.
    Hope: I sure do.
    Bo: I guess the scene is reversed now. When Ernesto had you in that cage,........I knew that was it. I had to say goodbye to you. I can’t seem to do that now.
    Hope: It’s not goodbye, Bo. Just so long.....for a little while.
    Bo: Ok. But........I have something..........

    Nico runs up with Bo’s black leather jacket, gives it to him, and he wraps it around Hope, saying.....

    Bo: This will keep you warm, Fancy Face. Always.
    Hope: (Crying) Oh, Bo....
    Bo: Bye, lady.
    Hope: Be safe.

    They kiss as well. Bo then turns and walks off. Steve and Kayla see this and Kayla looks at him, asking him if he is going to join them. Steve says......

    Steve: Family needs me, Sweetness.
    Kayla: I don’t want you to go......but, people are in trouble. (Starting to cry) You just remember one thing, ok?
    Steve: What’s that, baby?
    Kayla: You are the finest man........I’ve ever known. I love you so much.
    Steve: (Kissing her gently) Bye, Sweetness. Tell Stephanie..........to be a good girl.

    He walks off as well, readjusting his eye patch, as the women then gather behind the police line and watch their men walk off as a group to get ready.

    Inside the suite, Miranda looks on as Sami starts getting on Kate’s nerves. She is asking so many questions to her and Billie that Kate yells out for her to shut up. Sami tells her that she already has gotten the taste slapped out of her mouth once tonight.....would she like to go for double or nothing? Orpheus tells them to be silent.......as the helicopters land on the roofs across the street and deploy S.W.A.T. team members.

    As he orders his men to start taking positions..........

    Tony walks over to the group of men as they get ready. He says to Stefano that he has done it again. Stefano tells him to keep quiet and to watch after Cassie. Tony says that’s what he means. Because of his tie to Orpheus, none of them are safe. Roman asks what that mean.......and Stefano tells him to mind his business. Roman and Stefano almost come to blows as they are separated, with Victor telling them they should be ashamed acting like this now.

    Tony bids Stefano farewell........then admits that, after all the hell he’s put him through, he’s kinda hoping this IS the last time he sees him. Tony then stares at the man who raised him.......and spits at his feet. He turns and walks away as Victor and the others just shake their heads, with Steve saying.......

    Steve: Your award for Father Of The Year is back at the Pub.

    As he walks away, Abe joins them and starts putting on his gear. Alexandra stands off to the side, smiling. Abe turns and sees this........and walks over to her. They look at each other.......and then join in a very loving embrace. They then kiss each other gently and, without saying a word, she walks back over to the police line and he walks back over to the team. Stefano looks at Abe with disgust and Abe looks back at him, saying......

    Abe: One word, old man.........and I’m beating the living [!@#$%^&*] out of you.......right here, right now, ok?

    Abe smiles and continues to put on his gear......while the other men chuckle at the exchange.

    At that moment, Jack, Frankie and Max run up to the team, wanting to join in on the raid. Abe tells them that it is not safe for them. Frankie says that their niece is in there and Max then asks if they don’t have the right to bring her home. Bo then walks over and says that the adopted [!@#$%^&*] stopped years ago. They are Bradys and as Bradys they need to be down on the street with the women right now. Max takes this as a chance to be near Abby as Frankie agrees with them.

    Plus, Roman adds......does any of them have any police or hostage training? The men are silent. Jack then tells Steve to be careful.......and to make sure everyone, including Billie, makes it out safely. Steve looks at his brother, walks over and ask him......

    Steve: How deep is it, Billy Jack?
    Jack: It’s deep, Steve.
    Steve: That’s great to hear, man. Jennifer would be happy.
    Jack: I think so. She’s a good woman, Steve.
    Steve: I know......and she’ll be brought back to you. I promise.

    The two men shake hands and then Steve once again rejoins the group. As the men finish preparing, S.W.A.T. team members, Victor’s men, and Stefano’s men start taking their positions. Victor then looks off to the side.......and nods his head in approval as he sees Hawk, dressed in S.W.A.T gear, sneaking into the back of the building.

    The women watch the men take positions and Jack holds Abby.......as Forrest and Max watch from a distance. Upstairs, Sami and the others are lead into separate rooms as Orpheus pulls out his gun and loads it. Down on the street, men are running everywhere, locking and loading their weapons. Stephanie holds Kayla, Hope holds onto Maggie, and as Julie holds Belle as Philip stands behind her, Lucas and Will hold onto Marlena. They all are locked onto the scene.....

    As the men place S.W.A.T. helmets on their heads. Abe looks at all the men and tells them......

    Abe: No matter what........I’m not losing anyone tonight........is that clear?

    The men look at each other as Roman says.....

    Roman: You got it, partner.

    Abe orders the men to lock and load as Stefano and Victor close and button their coats. In the suite, Orpheus sees that the men are ready. Sami gets down on the ground.....and, in another room, Kate, Miranda and Billie sit against a wall. All three women forget their anger for one another right now....

    And grab each other’s hands. They all close their eyes and pray silently.......

    As Roman, Bo, Steve, and Abe shield Stefano and Victor, they start toward the building. The women and the other men look on in dread......and, as they reach the building....

    Orpheus picks up his walkie talkie........and orders his men to.........

    Orpheus: Open fire.

    Shots ring out, and, in slow motion, glass starts shattering everywhere. Marlena screams and tries to break the police line, as do the others, and Abe gives the order to open fire as well. Men from rooftops start shooting and, inside the building, Hawk makes his way up to the penthouse in Orpheus’s private elevator.

    Bullets fly everywhere....... and team members fall as Roman, Bo, Abe and Steve try to protect Victor and Stefano. At that moment, both of them reach into their coats, pull out their own weapons.......and open fire at Orpheus’s men as well. And, as death reigns down on the streets of Salem.....

    The scene suddenly goes black, with the echoes of gunfire and screams fading off into the distance.

    ON THE NEXT SALEM LIVES...

    JANUARY 10, 2008-EPISODE #412: HELPLESS PART II


    UNIVERSITY HOSPITAL

    Hope and Maggie arrive. As Maggie tells her she is going to find Victor, Hope sees Bo with Caroline. As she begins to walk over, Bo sees her as well.......and then turns and walks away with Caroline. Marlena then comes around the corner, long enough to see Hope crying once again. As Marlena asks Hope what’s wrong, they sit down and Hope tells her everything that she did. Marlena tells her it will ok and as she hugs her.........

    The Brady's are in front of Frankie’s window. Caroline asks if there has been any change and Mike says he’s still the same. Abby asks when he might wake up and Lexie can’t give any answer. Abby then says she talked to Stephanie and was told Kayla and the baby are stable. When Caroline asks about Roman, Bo says it doesn’t look good for either him or Lucas.

    Inside Frankie’s room, Max tells him to get better so they can have poker night again and Abby tells Jennifer to watch over him. She also reminds Frankie that he promised her mom he would be there for her and J.J. so he has to wake up.

    Jack then arrives and stands behind Abby, asking if Frankie has improved. She says no. Billie then walks up and Jack tells the Brady's how sorry he is. Abby then suggests that Jack and Billie go in and see him. He would like to know his friends are there. Jack looks at Billie, who says it’s ok, and they both go in. Once in his room, Jack has to hold a crying Billie as they both look at him.......laying there, helpless.

    In Greta’s room, she insists on seeing Frankie. Victor says she’s not strong enough but Greta tells him that she wants to say to him what she should have said all along. She wants to tell him how she feels because she believes he saved her life that night. As Maggie fights back tears, Victor tells Greta that she isn’t going anywhere until she is stronger. Greta tells him that he doesn’t understand and if it were Maggie laying in a hospital room and he had a chance to say something to her.......would he pass it up?

    Victor gets a wheelchair and tells Greta’s nurse that he will accept full responsibility for her.

    Outside Frankie’s room once again, Hope and Marlena walk up to the family. Bo turns and gives Hope another cold look, making Caroline and Kimberly uneasy. Marlena sees this and suggests that her and Hope go and see Kayla. Bo says that is a good idea and, as the women walk off, Hope turns and looks at Bo, who has turned his back to her.

    In Kayla’s room, Steve wipes his face as she starts to wake up. She looks at him, asking what is he doing there. He just says he’s happy she’s awake. She turns her head back, saying he shouldn’t be there. She says she needs to stay calm and he says that is what he’s there for. Kayla ask if he was there for Hope when he slept with her and produced Chelsea.

    Steve says that he has no feelings for Hope and Kalya says he has a funny way of showing it. She then says he needs to leave. She has to stay calm and he’s not helping. Steve says he is not leaving until he knows she’s ok and Kayla’s monitors start going off. Her blood pressure starts shooting up and she grabs her stomach. As doctors and nurses rush in, Rich tells Steve he has to leave.......now.

    Steve reluctantly walks out and joins Hope and Marlena, who have arrived, right before Kayla passes out from the pain.

    Stephanie walks out into the hallway and sees Steve and Hope standing. She is appalled, saying that they can’t even keep their hands off of each other while her mother is fighting for her life. Marlena and Adrienne watch as Steve tells Stephanie to watch her tone. Stephanie walks up to Steve and Hope and tells them both......

    Stephanie: Watch This!!

    She then hauls off and slaps Hope hard, making her take a step back. Hope holds her face and looks at her in shock as Adrienne takes two big steps over, grabs Stephanie by the arm, and tells her in no uncertain terms that no matter how pissed off or scared she is, that will NEVER give her the right to behave like that.

    Stephanie says how sorry she is to everyone and then runs off, crying. Adrienne chases after her as Hope starts crying once again in Marlena’s arms. Rich come out, telling everyone that they are trying to bring down Kayla’s blood pressure for her and the baby’s sake. If they can’t........

    They both may die. Steve can’t believe how bad everything has gotten and, as everyone looks at him, he does only one thing..........

    Blame himself.

    Abe and Celeste then walk up to Frankie’s room, asking how he’s doing. Bo is sitting next to Caroline and says there is still no change. Greta is then wheeled around the corner by her father as Celeste says that something is about to happen. Jack and Billie look at Frankie as his eyes start to slowly open and then, in a whisper, he says.....

    Frankie: At least.......I woke up in time......to see the NFL playoffs.

    Everyone laughs as Jack goes to get a nurse and Greta is taken into his room. As Jack runs out, Billie leans forward and Frankie asks her to do one thing......

    Frankie: Tell my family.........how much I love them. Tell Greta too. And.........tell Ma.........thank you.

    He then goes into cardiac arrest as Caroline jumps up and has to be restrained from going into his room. Greta is taken out and so is a crying Billie as Mike and Lexie race in, along with a full medical crew.

    All Greta hopes is that she gets the chance to tell Frankie how she feels......and blames herself for not saying it sooner.

    The blinds are closed as the family waits and, fifteen minutes later, Mike walks out with Lexie right behind him. When Caroline walks over to him, followed by her family and friends, she asks Mike how her son is doing. Mike looks at her.........grimly, and tells her........

    Mike: I think it’s time you called Father Jansen. There isn’t much time left.

    Bo stares ahead as a tear rolls down his cheek. Greta starts crying and, as both Victor and Maggie try to comfort her, Caroline asks to go in and see her son. She wants to be there when he dies. Abe and Celeste and Kim, Max, and Abby look on as Caroline is helped into Frankie’s room by Bo.......

    And as they look at a brain-dead Frankie, the scene sees Caroline crying in Bo’s arms......and then slowly fades to black.

    INSIDER SPOTLIGHT: FRANCES REID (ALICE) STOPS BY TO TALK ABOUT LANNA SAUNDERS' PASSING, HER RETURN TO THE FRONTBURNER, AND WHY SHE IS STILL GOING STRONG 42 YEARS LATER.




    Interviewer (I): Hello Francis. It's so good to have you here.
    Frances Reid (FR): Hello, dear. I am happy to be here.

    I: I know you can't stay long so let's get right to it. This week, Salem Lives is going to have a tribute to the late Lanna Saunders, who passed away recently. They decided to also write off the character of Marie as well despite Marie Cheathem being the role's originator. Do you agree with this decision and how do you feel about this tribute?
    FR: Well, let me say that Lanna was wonderful. She was a gifted actress and we all loved her so. It's hitting all of us that worked with her hard. I think what we are doing is wonderful. It's been dealt with properly and I think they felt that having the character of Marie pass as well was a good way to go to have a fitting tribute. I don't think it means any disrespect to Marie Cheathem. We all love her too and my understanding was they talked to her and there was no problem with this. I just think it's a lovely tribute and it's almost like an emotional journey. The fans will get emotional and feel they are right there with us. It's very fitting and moving.

    I: You have been seeing alot of time in the limelight lately. How long has it been since you have worked this much and how do you feel about getting so much play recently?
    FR: Great!!! I have never turned down working when asked. When the new writers came on last year, they told me they wanted to use me as much as they could and they have. They have me in the thick of things with my family and friends and it's great because it's not just me being there for an appearance. I am active, giving advice, and getting some good material. That is really true lately with Marie's death. That is the the most powerful stuff I have had to play in years.

    I: You have been playing Alice Horton for over 42 years and have been acting for much longer. How do you keep going at this pace, especially with your increased workload, and how long do you plan to do this?
    FR: I will do this for as long as I can. I love doing what I do. Always have. I dont want to slow down at all. They can have me work everyday. I will be there.

    I: Thanks so much for talking with us. I know you have to finish filming some more scenes so we appreciate it.
    FR: Your welcome, dear. Take care.

    Next Week: Nicole gains two allies and faces a new threat. Carrie faces an inner conflict. Kate makes a big decision. Austin makes Carrie's dreams comes true. There is a break in the MCF case. Cal pledges his love to Katherine. Lexie, Abe, and Celeste are in great danger. Jack and Billie fall into a trap.

    As the storm continues to rage on, we revisit our beloved Salemites aboard the cruise ship...

    -Victor and Maggie break from their kiss. Maggie says at least now they can die knowing how they feel about each other. Just then, Caroline appears. Greta, Frankie, and Philip soon follow. They are shocked to see Victor and Maggie. The water has reached the faces of Victor and Maggie. Victor explains how Stefano left them to die. Caroline says it sounds like the truce is over. Victor nods.

    Philip and Frankie search for something to break the gate lock with. Frankie finds an ax in a glass holder on the wall. Philip breaks the glass. Frankie uses the ax and breaks the lock, revealing Victor and Maggie. Caroline embraces both of them as Philip embraces Victor, followed by Greta. Everyone wonders why Victor and Greta hugged. Victor says there is no time and he will explain later. They need to get off the ship now. There is no time to go looking for everyone else. Frankie agrees and they all race off.

    -Marlena has her gun aimed at Orpheus as Roman watches. She tells him his reign of terror is over. Orpheus laughs and says that Marlena is making him out to be some sort of comic book villain. Marlena lashes out at Orpheus and reminds him that she isn't Marlena. She is Samantha and his time is up. She points her gun at Orpheus as a horrified Roman watches.

    -As water continues to fill the passageway, Kayla grabs hold of a railing and calls out for Steve. She recalls them being thrown up against the wall by the rush of water, with Steve taking the worst of the hit, and prays that Steve is ok. She then sees Steve's body being dragged off by the force of the rising waters. Kayla realizes she must swim over to him and lets go of the railing, allowing herself to be pulled by the dangerous waters as she struggles to reach Steve.

    The scene then shifts to Jack, who is being pulled away by the rising waters. Billie screams out for him. Jack tells her to hold on. Jack sees a cabin room nearby and grabs on to the door frame. He holds on tight and tells Billie to take his hand as she is pulled by. She does do and he pulls her in to the room. Jack then closes the door behind them to keep anymore water from getting in but tells Billie it's only postponing the inevitable. Billie asks why they bothered getting in the room if it's only going to fill with water too. They may as well have taken their chances with the rising waters.

    Jack says it's the only thing he could come up with quickly and they were both in danger. Billie tells him they still are...only now they are going to die sooner rather then later as they are trapped in a room that will soon be filled with water as well. Jack tells her not to panic but Billie tells him it's over. They need to accept it. No matter what they did they were going to die. They just helped it to happen sooner. Billie turns away, resigned to her faith, as a frustrated Jack looks around the room, searching for a safe way out.

    The scene then shifts to Bo, who is calling out to Hope. She is still holding on to a steel bar. Bo tells her to hang on. He notices a staircase near Hope and thinks that may be his best chance to get to her and get them both to safety. Bo allows himself to be pulled by the forceful waters as Hope screams out to him that he is being stupid and will get himself killed. Bo reaches for the staircase railing and, after nearly missing it, manages to grab it. He pulls himself up to the second stair and reaches for Hope, who is a few feet away. Hope says she takes back the stupid comment. Bo smiles and says that she needs to stop with the kneejerk reactions. Hope explains it's her nature and he is always one to take stupid risks.

    Bo tells her enough with the talking. He instructs her to grab his hand and he will pull her over. Hope reaches but nearly gets pulled away. Bo tells her to take his hand. He isn't going to let anything happen to her. He can't lose her. Hope and Bo both smile at each other. She then reaches for his hand as he reaches for hers. She grabs it and he pulls her over, fighting the force of the rising water, but managing to get her to safety with him on the staircase. He pulls her into an embrace and holds her tight, elated she is alright.

    Bo: I don't know what I would've done. Seeing you handing on like that...I was so scared. You mean everything to me.
    Hope: And yet you spent the better part of the last year pushing me away.
    Bo: Look...
    Hope: Bo, don't you see? You claimed that you pushed those you love away because you felt you couldn't be the man you should be. You felt you couldn't be the husband, friend, father...but, don't you see? You still are. You prove it everyday. Today, you showed that your still my hero and a hero to so many others. You took charge with helping to get everyone off the ship and you helped Will with his problems for weeks. Your Uncle Eric hurt you but that was in the past and you only just remembered it now. It doesn't change who you are. Your still the same man I fell in love with. You questioned your manhood and everything that you are but there was no reason for it.
    Bo: Hope...I just want to be what I need to be. A loving father and son...someone my family can depend on...someone...
    Hope: You are all of that and more. You always have been. You still are what you strive to be, Bo. You just proved it by saving me and by how you helped out in the ballroom. Nothing has changed. The man who isn't who you want to be is that man who lied and pushed his family away for months. All that did was cause more hurt for everyone. That man goes against everything you strive to be...so, promise me that man won't make a comeback? We have alot of issues to work through but...your still the same man that I can't live without. The man I want to wake up next to every day for the rest of my days. I love you, Bo Brady. I just want us to be together. We all need to be now...more then ever. We can work through our problems together. You just can't run and hide.
    Bo: Your right. I caused more harm then good. I hurt the people I love more with how I handled learning the truth. I just got rattled and...I just want to heal. I want our family to heal. No more running away or pushing people away. Life is too short and, if we get off this ship, I promise we will face our problems head on. I love you, Fancy Face. Always have and always will. I want to be in your arms again. I want our lives back.
    Hope: Well, then, let's get going so we can get off this ship and make that happen.
    Bo: Just a second...

    Bo leans in and kisses Hope passionately.

    Bo: Needed to seal our reunion with a kiss. We have come so close to reuniting before...just needed to make this official.
    Hope (smiling): No arguments from me. Come on, let's go!

    Hope and Bo race off.

    -On the main deck, Abe and Cal are discussing what they should do. Katherine, Lexie, Celeste, and Stefano have been loaded into the lifeboat but they wonder if they should wait for any of the others to find their way back before lowering it as there is only one lifeboat left. Victor, Maggie, Frankie, Greta, and Philip arrive. Victor takes a look at Stefano and lunges for him, lashing out at him for leaving him and Maggie to die. Abe says there is no time for this. The ship is going down and some people are still missing. Abe says he is going back to search for them. Frankie agrees to go with him, as does Cal. Abe says he needs Cal to stay behind with the lifeboat. His expertise is needed. Cal agrees and asks if Abe is sure about lowering the lifeboat given they have only one left. Abe says they have to get as many to safety as possible. Everyone agrees.

    Celeste tries to convince Abe to just wait for the others but he says he has a duty and that is to go and help those people. Lexie watches this scene, recalling seeing her mother and Abe kissing before. Stefano watches Lexie coldly stare in their direction and smiles. Victor says he isn't getting in the same boat as Stefano. Cal tells him he has no choice and he will use whatever means necessary to keep order on the boat. Maggie and Lexie try to calm both men. Stefano and Victor coldly look at each other as Abe, Frankie, and Cal lower the lifeboat. Once it's lowered, Abe and Frankie race off to find the remaining 8 guests on board the ship.

    In one of the other lifeboats, Abby asks Chelsea if she sees her dad on the boat that just got lowered. Chelsea shakes her head and says she doesn't see her mom yet either. Forest tells Abby it will be ok and embraces her. Max whispers to Chelsea that he doesn't like what he is seeing. Chelsea agrees. On another lifeboat, Cassie is relieved to see Stefano and Lexie on the just lowered lifeboat. Anna comments on how Stefano just doesn't die. Tony smiles. On another lifeboat, Julie tells Doug that she doesn't see Hope yet. Doug says he doesn't need Julie reminding him that his daughter is still in harm's way and orders he to just be quiet and leave him alone. Julie turns away from Doug and begins to cry. Nico puts his hand on Julie's shoulder as a gesture of comfort. She looks up at him, puts her hand on his, and smiles.

    Meanwhile, Sami asks Carrie how she is holding up. Carrie remains silent, while holding Evan, and begins to tear up when looking into Evan's eyes. Sami embraces the both of them. Lucas looks at Will and says they need to stick together as a family...now more then ever. Will nods. Belle watches a stoic Nicole, who has her back turned to everyone. Belle tells Kate that nothing will ever be the same again. A stone-faced Kate nods in agreement and says that she, herself, is to blame. Her son is dead and she could've prevented it all from happening.

    -Back on the ship, Jack is still looking around for a way out when Billie tells him to give it up. The cabin room is rapidly filling with water. It's only a matter of time as the water has already reached their waists. Jack says he won't give up. Their children need them. He promised Jennifer he would take care of them. Billie tells Jack that he will be reuniting with Jennifer soon. Jack tells her not to talk like that. Billie says she can't help it. The ship is sinking and the room is filling with water. There is no way out. It's over and they just need to accept it.

    Jack: Billie...
    Billie: Jack...the sooner we stop denying it and just admit that we are going to die, the better. Although, admitting something so hard can be...difficult (looks down and turns away).
    Jack: I get the feeling you aren't just talking about dying on this ship, are you?
    Billie: Nevermind.
    Jack: Oh, come on. I know you, Billie. We've been friends for years.
    Billie: Yeah...I know. That is what makes it hard.
    Jack: What?
    Billie: So much time has been wasted. Now, here we both are...on a sinking ship...about to die. After all we have both been through, especially in the past year, it's weird for it all to end like this. I only wish...
    Jack: Billie...just tell me what is on your mind. I can tell something is.
    Billie (fighting back tears): It's hard, Jack. I'm almost as afraid of this as I am dying. I have been hurt so many times...Bo, Nicholas... my luck with love has sucked, to put it mildly. I am so afraid to put my heart on the line (wipes tears from her eyes) You know, I finally moved on with my life and then, last summer, you and I begin spending more time together then usual. You needed me because you lost Jennifer and then we had all those troubles with our daughters and Laura, not to mention working together on the cloaked figure case and you helping me through JJ and Angel's deaths and the kidnapping of our daughters. You have been there for me so much. We've always been close but...now...
    Jack: Billie...
    Billie (crying): I have wanted to say something for so long but...I didn't want to be hurt again. I also didn't want to ruin what we have. I would never want our friendship to end. It's gotten be through some rough times.
    Jack: Billie...what are you saying?
    Billie: So much time wasted...I was so scared to tell you. I didn't know how you would react. Now, we are going to die and I can't help but...tell you. My feelings...they are just boiling over inside me...I just want you to know...if this is it...
    Jack: Billie....go on...tell me...
    Billie (tears streaming down her face): I love you! I love you, Jack! I have fallen...totally and completely...in love with you.

    Jack looks on stunned and turns away from Billie.

    Billie: (wiping her tears): I knew it. I should've never said anything but...I couldn't help it. I mean, we are going to die anyway and...God, I'm rambling. I sound like you. Jack, damnit Jack! Say something! Please!
    Jack (turning towards Billie): Guess I rubbed off on you with the rambling...

    Jack smiles as Billie shows a slight grin back.

    Jack: Billie...you've always been a true friend. Always loyal, supportive. In the last year, I would've never made it without you. Between Jennifer, Abby, Orpheus...you were there right by my side through it all. We've both been through alot and here we are. Things don't look too good and that often makes people think about things...life, regrets...and one thing I regret, like you, is not saying this sooner.
    Billie: Saying what?
    Jack: Like you, I was afraid. It's only been a year since Jennifer and I wasn't sure if my family...if I was ready...for another relationship. I didn't want my family to get hurt or myself. I also didn't want to risk what we already have...this great friendship that has been going strong for years.
    Billie: Jack...
    Jack: Billie, now that you have said what you said, I feel like I can say what I have wanted to now, as well.
    Billie: Which is...
    Jack: My feelings for you have become something that is more then that of a buddy. I never thought I could feel like this again about anyone after Jennifer but, lo and behold, I do. Everytime I look into your eyes...it makes me feel alive again. It makes me feel ok to laugh and to enjoy life. Billie...I'm in love with you. I love you, Billie Reed!
    Billie (tears streaming down her face): Jack...you feel the same way?
    Jack: Yes. I only wish I hadn't waited until we were about to die to say this but timing has never been my strong suite, I guess (smiles).
    Billie (laughs): Yeah. Jack, you feeling the same way, it's such a relief...
    Jack: If we somehow miraculously get off this thing, I want to be with you. I don't want to fight it like we both been.
    Billie: We're not getting off though.
    Jack: One thing I have learned in life is you never know. I never thought I would find love again and I did...with you.
    Billie: Got me there. Ok...if we get off somehow, I want to be with you too. I just want to finally be happy!!

    Billie breaks down in tears as Jack takes her in his arms as the water is nearing their necks. They then break from the embrace and look into each other's eyes. Jack gently wipes Billie's tears with his hand and says:

    Jack: Don't cry. No matter what happens...it will be ok. I'm here...
    Billie: Just like you always are...
    Jack: Just like I always will be.

    They both then lean in and share a passionate kiss as the water in the room continues to rise.

    The scene then shifts to Kayla, who is fighting the force of the water as she continues to swim to catch up to Steve. She is closing in and sees that Steve's body has stopped being pulled away as it's reached a dead end. Kayla notes that the water is rising fast and swims quickly over to Steve. She pulls his limp body to a staircase and pulls him up the stairs to a landing on the next floor up. She checks him over and discovers his head is bleeding and concludes it was injured when he was thrown against the wall with her, only he took a direct hit.

    Bo and Hope arrive. Kayla is happy to see them and tells them what happened to her and Steve. She discovers he isn't breathing and panics, saying Steve can't leave her now. He promised to remember his past and to fight to get his life back. She won't let him die on her. She won't give up. Kayla begins CPR as Bo helps by doing compressions as Kayla does mouth to mouth as Hope prays that Steve makes it as Abe and Frankie arrive. They are happy to see Bo, Hope, Kayla, and Steve and ask what happened. Hope tells them what is happening and they all look on with worry, hoping Steve will be fine as Bo and Kayla continue CPR.

    The scene then shifts to Marlena, who still has her gun aimed at Orpheus as Roman watches.

    Orpheus: I can't believe you would consider killing me. I was helping you to get your revenge.
    Marlena: No. You used me. Little did you know that I was using you too...
    Orpheus: There! We were using each other!
    Marlena: Yes but you betrayed me. You framed me for the McCluer murders and then set me up to be locked in a nuthouse, which allowed me to be framed for the Chez Rouge fire. I went through hell and you are going to pay for it. Your going down...just like everyone else on this ship!

    Marlena has her finger on the trigger. Roman begs Marlena not to sink to Orpheus's level. Marlena lashes out again and reminds Roman once more that she is Samantha and he will butt out or get a bullet to the brain. Marlena prepares to fire as Orpheus aims his gun, saying he will fire right back. Marlena smiles and tells him to go right ahead. It will be worth it. The ship then rocks, throwing everyone's balance off. Roman takes the opportunity to go for Marlena's gun. he lunges for her and struggles with her over it. Orpheus races off, which Marlena notices. She throws Roman off of her and says:

    Marlena: Damnit! You let him get away! Salem PD shows it's stupidity again! You say you hate the man and then you help facilitate his escape.
    Roman: I just didn't want you to do something you would regret. This all has to end, Marlena.
    Marlena: Marlena is gone. That is the last time I will say that. This is also the last time I will allow you or anyone else to get in the way of my plans. The only thing ending tonight is the lives of everyone on this ship, including you.
    Roman: Mar...
    Marlena: SHUTUP!! IT'S OVER!!! YOUR LIFE, THAT IS!! Your lucky. The others will likely suffer slow and painful deaths by drowning but yours will be simple and quick. BOOM!! HA!!
    Roman: You don't want to do this!
    Marlena: THAT'S IT!! YOU HAVE TOLD ME WHAT TO DO FOR THE LAST TIME!! YOU DON'T CONTROL ME!! NO LONGER WILL YOU INTERFERE!! GOODBYE...ROMAN BRADY!!

    Marlena aims her gun at a nervous Roman as the scene fades to black.

    BILLIE'S P.I. OFFICE

    Billie wakes up slowly. She is disheveled yet again and looks around, seeing the empty liquor bottles in front of her. She realizes she gave in to the urge again and covers her face in shame and frustration. She gets up slowly and glances at her cell, which is registering 9 missed calls. Billie, still trying to deal with her hangover, checks them and learns Lucas is being transfered upstate. She quickly begins to put herself together so she can head down to the station.

    Billie's cell then rings. It's Jack, who says he has been calling and admits he was worried. Billie says she had a long night. He asks if she feels better. Billie assures him she is fine but, obviously, couldn't get any sleep. Jack thinks it's understandable with everything she is dealing with. Billie tells Jack she has to go as Lucas is being transfered. She then asks about Greta. Jack tells Billie she is hanging in there. Billie says that's good and then tells him not to worry. She is fine. Jack tells her to call if she needs anything. Billie says she will and tells him she has to go. She then quickly hangs up as Jack can't help but be worried. He decides he will check on Billie later and goes in to see Greta, noticing that she is waking up.

    Jack asks how she is doing. Greta is silent until her eyes well with tears and she says she can't believe this is happening. She admits she has no idea how she will get through this. It's like losing her mother all over again. Jack tells her that he is there for her and so is all the rest of her friends and family. Greta embraces him and thanks him for everything. Jack smiles, saying that is what friends are for and her and Frankie are two of his best. Alex then appears outside. Greta informs Jack and Jack asks if he can come in. Greta nods. Jack motions for Alex to come in and he does.

    Alex apologizes to Greta for her loss. She thanks him. Jack tells Alex he thought he was starting early at The Spectator. Alex points out he is but stopped by to see him first to see how things were going. Greta tells Alex he will do fine and that Jack is very proud that his son is following in his footsteps. Jack nods, saying he is very talented and no doubt got it from him. They all laugh. Alex tells Greta he looks forward to working with him. She nods, saying she doesn't know if that will happen. Jack says it will. Greta admits her only focus right now is two things...mourning and honoring Frankie and getting a hold of that bitch Nicole and paying her back for what she has done. Greta points out she may as well have killed Eric and now Frankie...and that she will get vengeance. Jack and Alex look on, worried.


    UNIVERSITY HOSPITAL

    Meanwhile, Hope walks up and sees Steve by the nurses station. Steve asks what she is doing there. Hope says she wanted to check on Kayla and Greta, hoping no one that despises her right now would see her. Hope asks how things are. Steve fills her in and asks how things are with her. Hope tells him about her and Bo separating. They both tell each other they are sorry and Steve blames himself, saying he promised her things would be ok. He pushed the past on her and then thought Nicole was bluffing. Hope tells him it's ok. They need to deal with the hand they were dealt. She only wishes they could've told Bo and Kayla their own way, like they planned. None of this probably would've happened.

    Steve thinks we all have a time to go and maybe it would've happened anyway but not like this. He blames Nicole for how it all went down and thinks she needs to pay for this...and all the other [!@#$%^&*] she has pulled. Hope points out she is against getting payback through violence and scheming but admits Nicole needs to pay and that jail may be too lenient after all she has done. Hope then says there is no telling what may happen if she strikes again and who may get hurt. The scene then shifts to...

    Kayla's room, where Kayla is laying there silent and Stephanie is asking if she is sure she wants nothing. Kayla shakes her head, saying she wants time to be reversed and for things to be what they were before 2008 began. Stephanie wishes that could happen, adding that it's all her father's fault. Kayla says that Steve takes part of the blame. As does Hope. But someone else pushed it too far and is the reason why Frankie fell as well. Stephanie says she knows all about it...Nicole. Kayla nods, saying that woman has been a thorn in the Brady's side for too long and has gone too far. Eric, Frankie, her unborn child...it may not have been directly but she may as well have killed them all, not to mention all the other schemes she has attempted. Kayla tells Stephanie it's time Nicole took a hard fall...a very hard one. The scene then shifts to...


    BRADY PUB

    Caroline is making funeral arrangements for Frankie when Bo comes in with Victor. Bo embraces his mother and asks if he can help. Victor offers his help too. Caroline says everything is pretty much set but says there is one thing they can do...find Nicole so she can make her pay. Victor says he has his men on it and plans on handling it, telling Caroline there is no need for her to get involved. Caroline tells Victor she has had it with Nicole. Everything she did to Eric, Victor, Carrie, and now all this. She has caused too much trouble and inflicted too much pain on her family and needs to be stopped.

    Caroline admits she can't help but feel it's her responsibility to do it. Bo thinks there is a list of people who feel that way based on how Nicole has affected him, including himself. He wants her to pay too. Bo just thinks Caroline needs to stay out of it and let Victor, him, and the police handle it. Caroline doesn't know if she can do that. Victor promises her that Nicole will be found and WILL pay. Caroline tells him she better and says it's well past due. The scene then shifts to...


    ORPHEUS SECRET PALATIAL HOME(on the outskirts of Salem)

    Nicole serves Joey lunch and tells him he is lucky he slept through breakfast as she didn't know what to whip up. She asks Joey how long it's been since he had a good night sleep. Joey doesn't know and tells Nicole the bologna sandwich is good. Nicole smiles and says thanks and thinks it's time to talk about his options. Joey is confused. Nicole tells him he can't stay with her. She tries to explain but is forced to admit she is in alot of trouble and it's not a good situation for him. Joey says he won't go to a orphanage or a foster home. He says he had friends in those and he isn't going. He tells Nicole he can keep her company. She seems like she is lonely. Nicole insists she is fine and that she doesn't want him getting hurt. Plus, she is no good for him.

    Joey thinks she is cool and admits he likes her. Nicole points out it's been only a day since they met. Joey still thinks she is his angel and that Nicole was brought to him. Nicole rolls her eyes. Joey thinks it's true and she will believe it someday. He then adds that if Nicole tries to give him over to the police or to an orphanage he will tell them where to find her. Nicole asks what makes him think she is in trouble with the police. Joey thinks it makes sense with her worried about him being hurt staying with him and all.

    Nicole thinks he is too smart for his own good and can't believe he is blackmailing her. He smiles, saying he just doesn't want to be an orphan or all alone again. Nicole, realizing he won't give up, agrees to let him stay with her, for now. Just until they can figure things out. Joey thanks her and walks over to hug her, catching Nicole off guard as Joey looks up and says she won't regret this. Joey smiles as Nicole sighs and says she better not.


    UNIVERSITY HOSPITAL

    Abby is with Max, asking if there is anything she can do. Max smiles, saying she is already doing it but adds he does need some time alone. He is going to go check on Kayla and he needs to think. Abby understands and tells him to come find her when he's done. She kisses his cheek and walks off. While alone, Max puts on his gloves and says it's time he starts his own search for Nicole. The sooner he finds her, the sooner he can return the favor after what she did to Frankie. He walks off.

    Abby walks up to Jack, who is now outside Greta's room with Alex. They are talking about Greta wanting revenge. Abby says she can't help but feel Max wants the same. He just isn't telling her much and is keeping alot his feelings inside. Jack thinks he will open up. She just needs to give him time. He's lucky to have her. Abby smiles. Alex says he has to go. Jack embraces him, wishing him luck and saying he will see him later. Abby wishes him luck too, saying he will do great. Alex thanks them and walks off. Abby says she wishes she were spending more time getting to know Alex but with everything going on, it's hard. Jack knows and says she will soon. They all have it rough right now. Abby admits it hurts losing Frankie and Aunt Kayla losing her baby...it's alot. Jack nods, saying they will get through it. They always do. Jack embraces her as the scene shifts to...


    SALEM POLICE STATION

    Billie arrives and bumps right into Kate in the hallway, who says she was just about to try calling again. She asks where the hell she was. Billie tells Kate she is exhausted and tried to sleep but was unable. She reminds Kate she is going through alot right now. Kate points out that Billie's phone was on all the times she called and asks why she never answered if she was unable to sleep. Billie tells Kate she can't deal with this and they should drop this. Lucas is more important right now. Kate agrees but says they do need to talk later. Billie says maybe. Kate says they will and walks off as an annoyed Billie follows.


    UNIVERSITY HOSPITAL

    Alyson is outside Jean's room, looking at a newspaper. Frankie's death is the headline and there is a mention about the police searching for Nicole. Alyson smiles, saying it's long past time that bitch gets what is coming to her. Alyson admits she wishes she could do it herself and says that maybe, one day, she will be forced to do so. She then looks into Jean's room, hesitant about going in but realizing she must see Jean at some point and that she needs to try to get answers.

    Alyson walks in, surprising and relieving Jean, who points out she hasn't seen her since she learned about her father's demise. Alyson nods, saying she needed time to digest things. She recalls her drunken romp with Philip. Jean says she was so worried and wishes she had called. She points out she is being released tomorrow. Alyson thinks that is good but says she isn't there for small talk. She informs Jean that she did some research into her father's death and was puzzled by what she discovered. Jean asks what sort of research she did.

    Alyson says she talked to the friend who sent her the letter that revealed everything to her and that she talked to the police who investigated her father's death. All she was told is that it was ruled an accident and Alyson finds it suspicious since it seems the investigation lasted less then 48 hours. Jean asks what she is getting at. Alyson admits to Jean she feels something is missing, saying she remembers that her and daddy were on their way to reconciling. That had happened many times before but this time even the maid was talking about it. Alyson admits she remembers getting her hopes up and how happy both her and daddy were...until they day she and Jean caught him in bed with one of his former mistresses.

    Jean says she recalls that day, pointing out how upset Alyson got and how that led to Alyson telling her father she hated him. Jean reminds Alyson her father died that night and tells her that is why she kept the truth from her. If she knew her father died, it would've destroyed her, no matter how mad she was. She would've remembered the last words she said to him..."I hate you" and would've felt guilty. Alyson thinks it's possible Jean put up a front when she found her father in bed with the woman. Jean asks what she is saying. Alyson thinks it's possible Jean went to the boat when she was asleep and killed her father out of anger over him betraying her again. Alyson points out all she had to do was push him and come back home. No one would know, especially since she was so upset and the maid could easily be paid off for her silence.

    Jean can't believe Alyson would say such a thing and points out her father wasn't alone that night. His mistress was with him. Alyson thinks that gives her more motive. Jean points out that she hated that woman and there is no way she would ever keep her mouth shut if she had seen her kill her husband. Alyson admits that is a good point and wonders if it was the woman he was with or another mistress of his. Jean shakes her head, saying it was an accident. Her father had alcohol in his system. He was quite upset after what had happened with us and he just fell off and they found the body the next day. Alyson thinks there is still more to it. Jean tells her to just leave it be. It's what is for the best. Alyson lashes out, saying she is sick of her always assuming she knows what is best. She has done that all along for her and that is over. Alyson points out that BS brought them to Salem and made their lives hell. Jean tells Alyson she loves her and is sorry but she just does what she thinks it's best.

    Alyson: The key word there is "thinks," mom. No more. I'm living my own life and making my own decisions as to what is right for me and my son. When Sam grows up and is able, I will leave him be to so he can learn from his mistakes and make his own life choices. Not like you. You tried to control me. You tried to dictate everything. Don't you see? Not telling me about daddy didn't protect me? It prolonged the inevitable. You robbed me of my right to grieve my father. I could've dealt with all this much easier when I was younger. Now, knowing everything involved, it's harder. I won't ever get over it.
    Jean: So, I screwed you up...even worse?
    Alyson: Yes. You did. But there is still hope. I need to know the truth, mom. I know there is more to daddy's death. You don't just keep something like this for so long if it's just an accident, regardless of you not wanting me to feel guilty.
    Jean: Just leave it alone. You know everything there is to know.
    Alyson: Fine. I knew I wouldn't get anything from you. It's fine. I will learn everything on my own. The WHOLE truth. I have to. Something tells me I have to do this. And I will. I will get the answers I need. Whether you like it or not. Goodbye, mother.

    A frustrated Alyson walks out as a worried Jean, now alone, says:

    Jean: Leave it alone, Alyson. For your own good. Believe me. You don't want to know the truth about your father. You just don't.

    The scene then freezes on Jean's face and fades to black.

    THIS WEEK'S WRITER IN THE HOT SHEET: TIM LOWERY (PHOENIXRISING05)

    1.) After a few months of relative stability in regards to cast changes, many returns have been announced recently. How many of them will be permanent and are there more coming?

    A: Well, most of them are brief but will last a bit longer then normal since we have a wedding coming up. Some of the returns may be permanent. Shane's is. Carrie will be recurring, at least. There may be one return that will end up being permanent after further discussion. We'll see. Fan reaction plays a big part but we know they will be happy with the returns and all the fun that comes with them. As for more returns, see below (laughs).

    2.) There seemed to be a major lull in the pace of SL last week. Why was the show so dull?

    A: Well, once in awhile you have to have a "setup" week. A week that moves story and gets things to a place to pick up steam again. That was last week but we won't be having another week like that for a LONG time.

    3.) SL is driven by action/adventure stories with traditional stories being more of a minority. Will that change?

    A: My fellow HW and I have discussed that at length and it will. It will actually begin right away in the new year with an event that happens on New Year's Eve that brings on some of the best story we have ever done. It's really good drama and it will be a change of pace. The action and adventure will be still be here but we think we could use a little shift.

    4.) Nicole, Joelle, and Orpheus seem to get away with everything. Will they each face a comeuppance soon?

    A: You will have to stay tuned but I can say one of them will get one this week. The other two...well, stick with us. You won't be disappointed.

    5.) I am stunned by the development in the Lucas/Joelle story. Did he really rape her?

    A: This story has many more twists and turns, some of which occur this month so just be patient. It will be a hell of a ride.

    6.) Has Marlena dealing with her guilt and psychological trauma been dropped?

    A: No. In fact, it will become a focus again in the coming weeks and Christmas will really bring on a turning point for Marlena.

    TWO MORE RETURNS! MORE TO COME?!



    On the heels of the previous announced returns for this December comes the announcement of two more returns to Salem Lives. This time it's the news that Judi Evans and Wally Kurth will reprise the roles of Adrienne and Justin Kiriakis in late December.

    "They are coming back for the holidays and for Victor and Maggie's wedding like many of the other returnees," says EP/HW Tim Lowery. "They may stick around longer to deal with family issues as well. It's great to have them as we have been waiting to bring Judi back since her departure as Bonnie in summer 2006. The time has finally come and we are pleased to have her and Wally back with us."

    In addition to those two returns, comes word of two more as part of a huge story in early 2008.

    "Fans will have to just wait and see," Lowery says.

    DECEMBER 12, 2007-EPISODE #392: IN THE WAKE OF NIGHT


    UNIVERSITY HOSPITAL

    Lucas and Will are at Sami's bedside. After watching the latest news reports, Will asks Lucas if he really thinks Orpheus is dead. Lucas says he hopes so and says he is going to go make a few calls to find out what is going on for sure. He tells Will he will be right back. Lucas goes out in the hall and, as he walks, he hears two nurses talking about their shifts. One nurse says that she had the chance to take an early lunch because the woman who is accusing Lucas Horton of rape backed out of her rape exam so Dr. Terry told her to go on break early.

    The other nurse says she thinks the woman is lying. Lucas is a Horton and they are a good family who have done so much for the hospital and community. She thinks the woman doesn't have a leg to stand on and thinks her backing out and avoiding the exam is a sign of that. Lucas overhears this and says his calls will have to wait and races off.


    SWITZERLAND

    Jack and Alex are looking through Elizabeth's things at her and Alex's home. Jack notes the townhouse like feel and then makes note of the fact that Alex has barely said a word since they left Salem. Alex says he doesn't feel like talking. Jack admits he thought they were making progress since he the tension between them was dissipating as they left Salem. Alex doesn't say anything and Jack says he realizes now that was just a way of shutting him up. Alex is silent.

    Jack tells Alex he knows that he didn't want him to go. He just thought this would be the chance they needed to bond and try to get past all that has happened. Alex turns around and tells Jack his mother is dead because she left home to pursue him and he may never get past that. Jack puts his head down and walks away. Jack then asks if Alex lied about coming back to Salem too. Alex doesn't answer for a few moments and then says he has nothing in Salem. Jack tells him he has him, Abby, and JJ. Jack adds he has that Alyson girl he seems to like.

    Alex tells Jack she is just someone he had alot in common with and who he talked to at a time when he needed someone to just listen. Someone who understood what he was dealing with. Jack tells Alex he is there for him. Before Alex can answer, there is a knock at the door. Alex answers it and a man in a suit is standing before him when the door is opened. The man introduces himself as Art Teller, Elizabeth's attorney and says he was waiting for her son's arrival. Alex asks how he knew they were there. Art says he told a neighbor to tell him when they arrived. Jack comments on how secure he feels now that he knows the neighbors are stalkers.

    Alex introduces Jack to Art. Art tells Alex he has a meeting to get to but hands him an manila envelope, saying it contains a copy of his mother's wishes and adds that she left him everything she owned. He tells Alex there is a letter in there for him...and for his father...so it's good Jack is there. Alex thanks Art and Art tells them to call if they have questions. Art leaves as Alex opens the envelope that holds all of Elizabeth's papers and finds an envelope addressed to him and Jack. Alex and Jack look at each other, wondering what could be in the letter as the scene shifts to...


    SALEM INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT

    Miranda and Shane are surveying the crash site near the woods. Shane shakes his head and says it looks like Orpheus really bit the bullet this time. Miranda thinks it's about time he ran out of reprieves. She just hopes Roman can get out of hot water. Shane says they need this whole mess behind them so they can focus on Lawrence. He adds that Forrest is monitoring the situation and still nothing. Miranda hopes they locate him soon. Shane agrees and walks off.

    Just then, Billie arrives and several FBI agents try to pull her away. Miranda tells them it's ok for her to be there and asks what Billie is doing there. Billie says she saw what happened on the news reports and asks if Orpheus is dead. Miranda says it looks that way. Billie says she doesn't know how to feel. She admits she is relieved in a way but also feels sad. Miranda says it's only normal to be conflicted, given the circumstances.

    Miranda then says there is something she had been hoping to talk to Billie about. Billie tells her to go ahead. She knows it's a long shot but she thinks Billie needs to have a DNA test done to be sure Orpheus is her father. Billie is surprised she never thought of that but it must have slipped her mind with the shock of finding out what she did. Miranda tells Billie she can arrange it all for tonight by using ISA connections, saying there is nothing more she can do at the crash site anyway. Billie says she would like that as she wants to know for sure and have this all resolved, once and for all. The scene then shifts to...


    SALEM POLICE STATION

    In Abe's office, Marlena waits with Bo, Hope, Steve, Kayla, Caroline, Victor, Maggie, Doug, and Julie. Belle walks in and Marlena fills her in. Maggie calls Alice, who is still at the Kiriakis Mansion. She tells her Doug and Julie are fine, Julie's been checked out, and they are back together. Alice is pleased. Maggie says they will be there soon once they handle some business. Abe walks in, dragging Roman, with Patricia complaining behind them.

    Marlena asks what is going on. Abe says that the judge agreed to release Roman on bail, pending a further investigation. Patricia tells Abe he better believe she will personally oversee this investigation and that Roman will be brought right back as soon as they have enough evidence. Abe tells Patricia to back off, saying the Brady's have been through enough. Patricia tells him Lucas got released on bail earlier because he is a Horton and now Roman is released because someone pulled strings and he is a Brady. She says she will personally put a stop to these acts of injustice and walks off in a huff.

    Steve thinks that woman needs to put a sock in it. Maggie thanks Victor for pulling some strings and helping Roman. Victor smiles. Marlena says she had no idea and thanks him. Victor says it's the least he can do after everything that has happened. Caroline and the rest of the family thank Victor. Roman is then dragged in by a guard. Abe tells him he is free to go. Roman is greeted by friends and family. Abe warns him he will have to answer for what happened. Roman says he would be happy to. Abe says he would like to talk to him about some things, personally, as well. Roman says sure.

    Marlena just hopes the nightmare is over and that Orpheus is dead. Bo says they still have Stefano to deal with. Roman adds that they will deal with him but not tonight. They all deserve a night of peace. Maggie agrees and says they all have a wedding to look forward to as well and then shows off her ring. Everyone congratulates Victor and Maggie. Kayla admits they could use a joyous event and something happy to happen for once. They all slowly begin to make their way out of Abe's office as they talk about the wedding and the apparent end of Orpheus.

    Meanwhile, Cassie and Lexie race in and Cassie runs right into Stefano's arms, grateful he is alright. Tony and Anna, having just come from having her checked out at the hospital, watch this scene. Lexie embraces Tony and Anna. Cassie breaks from Stefano's embrace and looks over at Tony. Cassie tells Tony she is happy he is ok too. Tony smiles. Lexie embraces Stefano and asks if Orpheus is really gone. Stefano says it would seem that way. He then sees Roman and everyone else walking out of Abe's office.

    Stefano walks into Abe's office. Abe looks up and sees Lexie. Lexie says hello to him and says she is glad he is ok. Abe nods. Stefano wonders how that can be. Orpheus' blood and the blood of all his men are on Roman's hands. Abe says Roman has been released, pending investigation. He asks why Stefano cares. Orpheus shot him and was a threat to his family too and now he's dead. Abe walks off. Lexie asks why Stefano does care. Stefano says nevermind. He will deal with this later. Stefano walks out and Tony follows, asking why he is so quiet about Orpheus being his son.

    Stefano says he has his reasons and asks why Tony has said nothing to anyone. Tony reminds Stefano he wants to rebuild the Dimera name and empire in a more positive way and affiliating it with Orpheus does not do that. He says he has sworn Anna to secrecy too and says he has goaded Marlena into not saying anything, telling her that Orpheus may not really be a Dimera and not to say anything until they know for sure. Stefano puts his head down. Tony thinks Stefano is staying silent for the same reasons. Stefano tells him to nevermind and walks off. Cassie follows, looks back at Tony, and then goes back to following Stefano.

    Anna asks if Tony is ok. Tony smiles and says he will have to work on Cassie but, for the moment, he is fine as long as he has her. They kiss passionately.


    JOELLE'S APARTMENT

    Joelle hears a knock on the door and goes to open it. She is shocked to see Lucas behind the door and tries to close it but he forces his way in. He tells Joelle about what he overheard and then reminds her of what he overheard her talking to Patricia about earlier. He asks why she is so afraid to take the rape exam. Joelle tells him to be quiet and to leave. Joey is sleeping in the next room. Lucas says he doesn't care. He doesn't remember what happened but she is clearly lying about something. Joelle then turns, closes the door, walks up to Lucas, and puts her arms all around him, caressing his body from head to toe.

    Lucas pushes her away and asks what the hell she is doing. She says she is checking for a wire or recorder and says she knew he was too stupid to bring one. Lucas is confused. Joelle says that of course he didn't rape her. He hasn't done a damn thing to her but reject her but that makes no difference. Just as long as the people that matter believe her...she has him right where she wants him. Lucas is stunned and says he knew it. Joelle tells him to not get too excited. He has no proof of her saying what she just did. It's his word against hers, which is why she can tell him everything right now and it would make no difference.

    Lucas is confused by what "everything" means and asks if there is more. Joelle smiles evilly as the scene freezes on her face and then fades to black.

    ROBERTS INC.

    Kate is using the computer is Lucas's office, trying to find any info she can on Joelle in hopes it can lead to something. Later on, Kate has nothing and realizes she has no idea what she is doing. She decides she could really use Billie's help as she is a P.I. and has ISA training. Kate isn't so sure she will help as Billie seems to be a wreck since learning about Orpheus being her father and everything else that has happened. Kate grabs her coat and purse and decides it's worth a shot. She walks out and locks up the office as the scene shifts to...


    STREETS OF SALEM

    A disheveled Billie walks down the street, drunk and lost in her own thoughts. She keeps playing out the images of the past few months in her head...Jack siding with Elizabeth, Elizabeth's death and Jack blaming her for it, learning Orpheus was her father and that she is a Dimera along with the fact that Kate never told her anything about it, learning Chelsea isn't hers and that her real daughter is likely dead, Frankie's death...it's all just too much. Billie lets out a cry of anguish and clutches her head and falls to the ground. She tells herself she is no good to anyone. She was trash before and now it's even worse...she is a Dimera. All she will end up doing is hurting the people she cares about most. She lifts her head up and sees a liquor store nearby. She is no longer hesitating or resisting the urge. She decides right away the store has what she wants so she gets up and walks quickly down the block, checking her pockets to make sure she has enough money as the scene shifts to...



    BRADY PUB

    Max and Abby arrive. Jack greets them, saying they have been trying to reach them for hours. Abby apologizes, saying they both had their phones off and were trying to just enjoy each other and forget about everything. Abby is shocked to see that Forrest is back and says it's good to see him. Forrest echoes that sentiment but tells Abby they have bad news. Forrest then fills Abby and Max in on the meeting, Lawrence, and the info Carly has given about him. Abby is shocked to see Carly, saying she has heard so much about her. Carly smiles, saying she is sure. Jack tells Abby the danger is real and her and JJ need protection. Shane chimes in, saying he recommends a safehouse. Abby, JJ, and Carly can go since they are the ones in the most immediate danger. Abby says absolutely not to the suggestion outright. Carly seconds that motion.

    Jack, Bo and Shane remind both woman of the danger they are in. Max tells Abby they are right, reminding Abby of how she almost had to marry Forrest as a way of protecting herself. Abby knows that but thinks running is not the answer. Carly agrees, saying Lawrence is smart and no safehouse will stop him. Bo tries to convince Carly to go but she tells Bo she is not going. Bo tells her it's not safe for her. Hope watches and sees the concern in Bo's eyes for Carly. Steve asks if she is alright. Hope nods. Mike then chimes in and tells Abby that her mother would want her protected. Jack agrees, saying JJ needs to be protected too and he will need his big sister with him. Abby says she is not leaving Max right now. He is going through alot and needs her. Max says it's fine and tells her he would feel better knowing she were safe.

    Shane suggests Max go with Abby. Max says he is willing to. Abby tells him his family needs him. Caroline yells out it would be alright. They would know he is taking care of a friend. Max smiles at Caroline, who is standing next to Kim. Max asks Abby if she would go if he went with her. Jack approaches Abby and urges her to do this for her brother too. He needs her and he needs to be protected. After a few moments, Abby agrees, as long as Max comes to. Shane thinks they have a deal. Now all attention turns to Carly as Shane suggests again that Carly go too and even thinks Stephanie and Kayla should go given Steve and Lawrence's past. Steve agrees. Kayla tells him to butt out and says she isn't going anywhere. Stephanie says she isn't going anywhere without her mom.

    Kim points out Kayla is still recovering so it really isn't a good idea. Bo agrees. Shane nods in agreement and says they will put guards on everyone here not going to a safehouse and order extra man power to patrol Salem. Marlena, looking at Sami and Belle and also ate Carrie, thinks that is a good idea as there is no telling who Lawrence will target. Shane then tells Carly she really should go as she is in as much danger, if not more, then Abby. Carly defiantly says she is not going as the scene shifts to...


    ORPHEUS SECRET PALATIAL HOME(on the outskirts of Salem)

    Nicole sits in the dark, watching late night TV. Joey walks in to the room, startling Nicole. She asks him what he is doing up. Joey says he couldn't sleep, pointing out he has had a hard time since that first night where he was so tired he couldn't help but sleep. Joey asks what she is watching. Nicole says nothing really. She just couldn't sleep herself. Joey asks if she is worried. Nicole shakes her head, saying she has learned to deal with whatever is thrown her way by now. Joey tells Nicole he had fun playing video games with her tonight. He tells her how he never thought he would laugh and have fun again after his mother and grandmother died. Nicole admits she knows how that feels and thinks she still hasn't overcome that feeling and probably never will. Joey thinks she did tonight as she was having fun and that was not an act. Nicole says that was only temporary and it was right back into the gutter right after they stopped playing and reality became present again.

    Joey thinks she just needs to loosen up more. Nicole isn't sure she can or that she ever will. Joey asks if it's because there are people after her. Nicole thinks he is a little too nosy and then says it's her turn to ask about him. Joey says there isn't much to tell. She knows everything. Nicole doesn't think that is the case and points out that he acted like he was hiding something earlier when she asked about his apartment being ransacked. Nicole then says she hates to ask this, knowing how hard it is, but how did his mother die? Joey doesn't answer and says he is feeling tired now. He bids her good night. Nicole tells him to wait and apologizes for asking. She can't relate as she hated both her father and mother but she can tell it's hurting him, losing his mother and grandmother. Joey says it's ok and he will see her in the morning.

    Joey goes into one of the bedrooms as Nicole sits back down. She then grabs her purse and digs into it, pulling out a picture of Eric.

    Nicole: So, I guess you brought him into my life but why? I mean, am I supposed to help him deal with losing his mom or something? I'm confused and I have enough problems. This kid needs someone better off then me to help him so if your thinking I can help, then you must be sipping some strong stuff up there, honey.

    Nicole then thinks for a moment and gets up, with the picture in hand, she walks into the bedroom Joey entered and can hear him crying under his breath. Nicole seems unsure of what to do as she can tell he doesn't want her knowing he is crying. She hesitates and looks at him, listening to the faint sound of his cries. After a few moments, her resolve breaks then and she walks into the room, asking Joey if he is ok. Joey says he is fine and doesn't turn around. Nicole says she knows he isn't ok and turns him around to see his tear-stained face, Joey looks at her and breaks down in tears again. Nicole hesitates a bit but then takes him in her arms, dropping her photo of Eric on the ground, embracing Joey warmly as he cries out:

    Joey: Why did she have to leave me? Why?!

    Nicole: I wish I knew, Joey. I wish I knew. Sometimes it just happens. Sometimes we lose people we love and feel it's unfair. But, I guess, there is no way to ever know. We just have to deal with it the best we can.
    Joey: I don't think I can deal with this. Especially not alone!
    Nicole: You can. You will. And you are not alone.
    Joey: I have no family, no friends...
    Nicole: You have me, remember? I'm right here, Joey. I'm not going nowhere.
    Joey: Your not.
    Nicole: No. I'm not.

    Joey hugs her tightly, telling her thank you repeatedly as Nicole lets out a deep breath and looks inquisitively at the picture of Eric laying on the floor as the scene shifts back to...


    BRADY PUB

    The meeting is now over and Victor is on his way out. He tells Bo he will see him at home and to tell Shane he will report anything uncovered to him by his people. Bo thanks Victor, who walks out. Bo turns and sees Hope. Bo says nothing and simply walks back over to Carly. Hope watches Bo and Carly together as Steve walks up, telling Hope not to think anything of it. Hope says it's hard not to as she thinks Bo and her may really be through. Steve thinks the same of him and Kayla. Hope says she just doesn't think they can get back what they lost.

    Caroline tells Kim she is going upstairs to check on Kayla and Stephanie and to lock up the Pub once everyone leaves. Kim agrees. Bo tells Carly he wishes she would reconsider about the safehouse. Carly says she isn't going and no one is going to convince her other. Besides, staying with him and Victor is much safer to her then a safehouse. Shane thinks Carly is making a mistake. Carly says then she will just learn the hard way if that is the case. Bo, Shane, and Miranda look at each other with worry. Jack goes over to Abby and says she is making the right decision. She tells Jack she is doing it for him, JJ, and for Max. She doesn't want them to worry. He thanks her, saying it's the right decision. Forrest comes over and agrees, saying they will move her, JJ, and Max out early in the morning. Meanwhile, outside, a mysterious figure lurks...


    BILLIE'S P.I. OFFICE

    Kate is knocking on the door and there is no answer. It's late and the halls are dark so she decides to just leave and try to think of something else to help Lucas for now. She will just call Billie later. Kate walks off, gets on the elevator, and, as it closes, Billie comes out of the other elevator and heads for her office, clearly off balance. She goes inside, throws her coat off, and immediately opens one of the bottles of liquor she purchased. She sits down and pours and immediately starts drinking, saying:

    Billie: Here's to you, Billie Re...Billie DiMera. Bottoms up...

    The scene then pans upward on an overheard shot of Billie and then fades to black.

    ON THE NEXT SALEM LIVES...

    ALYSON AND PHILIP GROW CLOSER!!

    Who's In?


    Nothing new to report on this front except to look for Mandy Musgrave to return to her role of Chelsea Brady in mid-January for a short-term run (see below).

    Who's Out?

    Brock Pierce (Josh)- The recurring actor was let go for storyline reasons. The character simply never took off and it was decided to take Abby in a different romantic direction. The role will not be recast. The actor last aired December 21. Josh will simply leave town and never be heard from again.

    Mandy Musgrave (Chelsea Brady)- In a stunning move, the actress will be leaving the show again just one week after being re-hired. Musgrave was brought back to replace Rachel Melvin, who as a recast for Musgrave never took off, and was signed to a 3 year contract after much negotiating to bring her back. "It was decided to change direction on this and only committ to this short-term," says Executive Producer Ned Yadroc. "We simply felt the character didn't have staying power and that she had no rooting value. We are cutting our losses and trying not to waste space with characters that no longer fit. That is what are process was here." The character will leave the canvas in the spring but will have plenty of story coming up for the next 3 months. Look for her exit to leave a huge impact on several characters on the canvas.

    Brody Hutzler (Patrick Lockhart)- It appears that time is up for the character when he leaves the canvas this winter. However, this may not be his final exit as he may return at a later point to stir up some trouble in Salem. Expect to learn all about Patrick and his past before he leaves as that will play a huge part in his "possible return."

    FALL PREMIERE!!!

    SEPTEMBER 4, 2007: EPISODE #321: SIRENS

    -ROMAN AND MARLENA'S HOUSE

    Belle walks up to the front door and begins to knock. She waits a few short moments before trying again. She calls out to both her mother and father, asking them to answer the door if they are there. Inside, Marlena continues to lie unconscious on the floor of the living room. Belle continues to knock and yell out for Marlena and Roman repeatedly, to no avail. A worried Belle opts to fore go politeness and to use the key she was given for emergencies. She unlocks the door, enters, and is shocked to see her mother lying lifeless on the floor. She races over to her, trying desperately to wake her.

    -ROBERTS INC OFFICES

    Lucas and Joelle continue to go at it passionately on his desk. Joelle kisses Lucas from head to toe, telling him she will give him a night he won't soon forget. Lucas does not resist her advances and begins to kiss Joelle's neck and shoulder in response. Shortly thereafter, Lucas looks over while kissing Joelle to see a picture of Sami and himself. Lucas then pushes Joelle off him and tells her they have to stop.

    Lucas: I can't do this, Joelle. Not with you. Not with anyone. It's not right.
    Joelle: What do you mean?
    Lucas: I love Sami. I just lost her and...it's too soon to be doing this. It's too soon to be even dating. My focus is on my son and just getting our lives back on track. I'm sorry, Joelle. We can't do this and your advances toward me must stop...TONIGHT!!

    Joelle is stunned.

    -MAISON BLANCHE, NEW ORLEANS

    Passions continue to ignite for Hope and Steve as they begin to make love on the bed in the bedroom. While this is happening, both Hope and Steve simultaneously continue to remember a night from their missing years where a similar scene was taking place at the old Maison Blanche. Steve kisses Hope all over as she does the same. Just then, a loud crash from downstairs causes both Hope and Steve to jump off each other and to their feet. They wonder what the noise was. Steve tells Hope he will go down and check. After Steve leaves, Hope looks around the room and at the bed she was just on with Steve, clearly affected by what just transpired between them both.

    -BACK IN SALEM, DIMERA MANSION

    Tony remains in one of the Dimera Mansion secret rooms, still stunned by the contents of the torn and faded diary entry of his mother, Daphne, that he found in his old poetry book. Tony wonders what it could all be about and why his mother would go to such means to keep everything a secret. He considers that maybe she had to hide something from Stefano and she wants Tony to retrieve it or information on it. Tony decides he can't wait and that he must take action and do what his mother says in the diary entry before Stefano somehow hears of this. He must go to New Orleans and to Maison Blanche, per her instructions. Tony makes a call to the Salem Airport, asking when their next flight to New Orleans is.

    -SALEM TOWERS RESTAURANT

    Stefano and Lexie continue to watch Abe and Celeste on the dance floor. Abe is trying to calm Celeste after her latest premonition. She tells Abe she is fine but hopes whoever it was about is fine too. Both Abe and Celeste now have eye contact with Lexie. Celeste tells Abe they need to talk to Alexandra right away as it's clear she saw their kiss on the ship. The look of anger and resentment on her face seeing them dancing together proves it. Abe agrees they need to talk to her. Lexie sees them coming over and tells her father she wants to go. She doesn't wish to speak with them right now. Stefano tells her not to let them bother her but Lexie insists they go. Stefano sees how upset she is and agrees to her request to leave. They both get up in a hurry and walk out as Abe and Celeste arrive at the table. Abe sees Lexie and Stefano leaving and says he is going to follow them. Celeste goes with him.

    Meanwhile, Frankie sits at a table and looks at his watch, wondering where Greta is. Nicole then approaches him and sits down at the table. Frankie asks if she can help her. Nicole smiles and takes a sip out of her martini, saying he sure can help her. She needs a lawyer.

    The scene then shifts to outside the Salem Towers. The camera then pans down to the body of a lifeless Greta lying in the middle of the street in a pool of blood. Lexie and Stefano walk out of the Salem Towers building. Lexie turns around and sees Abe and Celeste getting off the elevator. She tells Stefano they are following them. Stefano takes her hand tells her to come with him. As they turn to cross the street, Stefano sees Greta's body in the street. A look of horror and shock takes over his face. He alerts Lexie and points to Greta's body. Lexie is horrified as well and races over to Greta with Stefano as Abe and Celeste exit the building and race over too upon seeing what is happening. Lexie tends to Greta and looks her over.

    Lexie: She has several facial lacerations and it looks like some glass is embedded in several of them. She has a deep head wound and is bleeding from the mouth.
    Abe: You thinking internal injuries?
    Lexie: For sure. I think she may also have a skull fracture. Father, call an ambulance. Hurry!! There is no telling how long she was lying here.
    Stefano: Yes. Of course!
    Celeste: My premonition...this must be...
    Abe: Who it was about. Yeah.
    Lexie: Oh no!
    Abe: What?
    Lexie: I think she may have severed an artery. There is so much blood and she has a deep gash on her arm. If help doesn't come soon, she may not make it through the hour.

    Both Abe and Lexie look at each other with worry and then back down at Greta while Celeste looks on in horror.

    -ROMAN AND MARLENA'S HOUSE

    Belle tries desperately to wake Marlena up but fails. She finds Marlena's medication spilled out all over the floor. She decides she needs to call for help and dials 911. She then takes Marlena's hand and tells her mother help is on the way.

    -ROBERTS INC OFFICES

    Joelle tells Lucas he can't live in mourning forever. Lucas says he knows that but Sami just died a few weeks ago. It's too soon. He also tells Joelle that she is his employee and he doesn't want to cause trouble.

    Lucas: Things got out of hand tonight. This can never happen again. Your a hard worker, Joelle. You have it rough and I am more then happy to listen to you and to be a friend. Nothing more. I warned you before and this is the final warning. Let's just keep out relationship friendly and business-related. Agreed?
    Joelle: Sure. I guess. I'm sorry.
    Lucas: Hey, I gave in. I pushed this too far tonight and I regret it. I really am sorry for that. Well, I have to get back to Will and I want to get some paperwork done tonight so see you in the morning. Let's just start fresh tomorrow. A clean slate? Sound good?
    Joelle: Wonderful. Strictly plutonic.
    Lucas: There you go. Good night.
    Joelle: Night.

    Lucas leaves. Joelle then takes a paperweight and tosses it to the floor in frustration.

    Joelle: This is not over yet, Lucas. I will have what I want. It's just going to be a harder road then I originally thought. I'm not giving up. No way in hell.

    -NEW ORLEANS, MAISON BLANCHE

    Steve returns to Hope and tells her that Byron was doing some cleaning and simply dropped some things. Hope says she is glad he did. They got caught up in the memories and things went too far. Steve agrees, saying he has no idea what came over himself. Hope says it was the same thing that came over her. The strength of memories and the emotions that come along with them can be overwhelming, especially when you first recover those memories. Steve apologizes for losing control. Hope says she did the same. They just need to be more careful.

    Steve thinks they should lay off re-creating scenes from the past and stick to looking for tangible evidence right now. Hope agrees, saying they could use a break from re-enacting the past. Steve pulls out the key Tony gave him, saying they may need it to enter any secret rooms they uncover. Hope is glad they have it and tells Steve they have to get a move on. They can't afford to waste time as Stefano could always learn what they are up to and put a stop to it. Steve agrees and both him and Hope leave the bedroom and return to searching the house.

    -SALEM AIRPORT

    Tony arrives at Gate 3 and checks in. He then mentions how he is glad Stefano was out for the evening. The more discreetly he accomplished this mission, the better. He just wishes he could say goodbye to Cassie and Anna, just in case something does happen. He looks at the diary entry from his mother and wonders what the faded and torn off parts say. He just hopes whatever he was meant to find from his mother didn't burn with Maison Blanche years ago. Tony's flight is then called to board. He puts the diary entry away and hopes he soon finds the answers he seeks.

    -ROMAN AND MARLENA'S HOUSE

    The ambulance has arrived and Marlena is on a gurney. The EMT's have collected all the pills and determine that Marlena did not OD. Rather, she didn't take the pills prescribed to her by Barbara. Belle wonders why her mother would be that careless, especially being a doctor herself. The EMT's think it would be best to take Marlena to the hospital for observation but think it's likely she is just mentally and emotionally exhausted and is suffering the after effects of her mental disorder on top of lots of stress. Belle hopes that is all it is and says she will call Barbara to meet them at the hospital. The EMT's then wheel Marlena out as Belle dials on her cell phone and follows.

    -SALEM TOWERS RESTAURANT

    Frankie asks why Nicole would need a lawyer. Nicole says she wants to look into her legal rights in regards to Evan. She adopted him and Carrie gave him up. Frankie explains that Carrie is Evan's biological mother and that she never signed a legal document giving up her rights. An angry Nicole lashes out, saying she may as well have given what she did. An annoyed Frankie tells Nicole to bother someone else as he is waiting for someone and has no interesting in her rantings. Frankie gets up and walks off, leaving behind an enraged Nicole, who promises this isn't over and that the Brady's and all those who wronged her will pay for how they have treated her.

    Meanwhile, in an undisclosed location, a young blonde women stares at a picture as an older, middle-aged women with reddish brown hair enters the room.

    Older Woman (Martha Byrne): Not again. When are you going to stop sitting around here looking at his picture? Huh? That isn't getting anything accomplished. Go there, sweetheart. You go and reap the rewards you are entitled to. You and I have suffered so much and we have this great opportunity waiting in Salem. Let's not wait anymore. Let's not waste it. (gently rubs the young woman's shoulder) I will be right by your side the whole way.
    Younger Woman (Elizabeth Hendrickson): I don't know, mom. I don't know if I can go through with this. (looks at picture) It just doesn't seem right and I don't want to dishonor his memory. Not after how he treated me.

    The camera then pans around and down to reveal the picture the young woman is holding to be a picture of...ERIC BRADY!!!

    The scene then shifts back to the SALEM TOWER RESTAURANT. Frankie calls Greta's cell. Outside, in the street, Celeste tells Abe and Lexie that Greta's phone is ringing. Abe answers it. Frankie asks what he is doing answering Greta's phone. Abe tells Frankie there has been an accident and tells Frankie where he can find them. Frankie hangs up and races out of the restaurant. Stefano asks Lexie how bad the injuries are.

    Lexie: Extensive, father. It's not good.
    Stefano: Dear God. Poor Greta. I held such disdain for her mother but Greta...she was always so sweet and forgiving. She would never harm a fly. Just a beautiful girl inside and out...(wipes a tear from his eye)
    Abe: Wow...the great Stefano Dimera weeping?
    Stefano: I am human, you know?
    Celeste (looking at Stefano): Sometimes.

    Frankie races out of the Salem Towers building and to Greta's side as the ambulance pulls up. Frankie asks what happened. Abe says they believe it was a hit and run. The EMT's come over and Lexie fills them in on the details of Greta's condition. Celeste tells Frankie she had a premonition of this. Frankie asks who would want to hurt Greta. Stefano says he was just wondering the same thing. The scene then shifts to Cassie, who has just entered the DIMERA MANSION through the foyer. She pours herself a brandy and sits down on the sofa, smiling and saying:

    Cassie: All in a days work!

    Cassie then sips her brandy as the scene fades to black.

    ON THE NEXT SALEM LIVES...

    WILL GRETA SURVIVE?

    -In the psych ward at University Hospital, Marlena sits in her straightjacket, staring blankly at the four walls that surround her.

    Marlena: Lovely. Just lovely. They may have put me away but little do they know that they can't stop the horror that has been set in motion. They have no idea...no idea what's upon them now.

    Marlena then struggles with her straightjacket.

    Marlena: Damnit. I will get out of here. I will get my revenge and make them all pay!!

    The scene then shifts to the MCF's hideaway in the office of an abandoned warehouse. The MCF admires the picture shrine that he or she put together. The camera pans over all the pictures again as we see pictures of Roman, Sami, Lucas, Will, Carrie, Austin, Eric, Nicole, Steve, Kayla, Bo, Victor, Caroline, Maggie, Marlena, Shane, Kimberly, Hope, Belle, Philip, Abe, Lexie, Stefano, Tony, Anna, Jack, Billie, Max, Abby, Cassie, Chelsea, Cal, Doug, and Julie. We then see in the center of all the pictures the word...

    REVENGE.

    The MCF laughs.

    MCF: Everything is in motion now. It's so funny how little I have to do to get everyone where I want them. All the secrets and lies some of you are keeping...fools. All of you. You have practically given me the opportunity for revenge on a silver platter.

    The MCF then looks at the picture of Marlena.

    MCF: Sorry, doc. You were too much of a loose cannon. Your condition was far to volitile. I had other plans for you but I couldn't risk you ruining my plans so you had to go. I should've known though. You and your loved ones have been thorns in my side before. No matter...I still have James and Alan to assist me...but I could use some more help. Hmm...(looks at the pictures) I was going to go to some of you yet but it looks like I will have to. It's time I come face to face with some of you Salemites...starting with....

    The MCF takes a picture off the wall and admires it.

    MCF (looking at the picture): You...yes. You will be the one whose services I seek out first. I know what you are capable of...I know firsthand. Now I just need to get you alone...and I know exactly how to bait you.

    The MCF then laughs as he or she sits down at the desk, takes out a piece of paper, and begins to write.

    MCF (looking at what he or she is writing): A piece of cake...

    The MCF laughs as he or she continues to write as the screen fades into...

    NOVEMBER 15, 2007-EPISODE #373: HAVING A BALL!


    STEVE AND KAYLA'S LIMO

    In a limousine headed to the huge gala opening, Steve tries to convince Kayla to go back home and forget about the ball. Steve tries to lean in and kiss her but Kayla says that will not work. She just lost her niece and nephew and can’t believe that he is trying to tell her that she doesn’t have the right to be there tonight. Steve leans back and says how sorry he is. Kayla tells him to just be quiet so they can enjoy the evening. The scene then fades from their limousine.........


    SALEM INN

    Tony finds Anna walking through the lobby. He stops her and tries to convince her to go to the ball but she is having none of it. Anna tells him she has had it with anyone named DiMera and he fits at the top of her list. She then says since he can’t take a hint, she’s leaving and going to another hotel. Tony tries and tells her to stop fighting what she feels.........but Anna turns and silently walks away, leaving Tony to reflect on his relationship with her.


    PIER

    Kate paces back and forth waiting for Orpheus. As she turns her back,........a man throws a blanket over her head and drags her off. Orpheus leads the way off of the pier, as one of his men has Kate’s mouth covered.

    A few minutes later, as Anna now walks the pier herself, she looks over to the parking lot to see Kate being put into a car. She then sees Orpheus getting into the backseat of the car.......but does not see Miranda tailing the group. Anna hides behind some boxes as the car drives off into the night...........with Miranda and her partner tailing close behind.


    SALEM TOWERS

    Victor and Maggie greet guests at the door as the ball is now underway. Stefano walks up with Alexandra and Cassie. As both men shake hands, Victor smiles, giving Stefano props for the move he made on one of his businesses. Stefano thanks him, saying all is fair in love and war. As they walk past Victor and Maggie, Abe walks up and greets the guests. Abe and Stefano nod at one another as Stefano excuses himself and leaves Abe with Celeste, who has just joined them, Lexie and Cassie.

    Abe and Celeste try to convince Lexie to talk to them before going through with the divorce and seeking full custody of Theo. Lexie tells them both that isn't going to happen and then tells Abe that it would be better for Theo if he agreed to the divorce. Cassie worries about her own fate due to the hit-and-run, wondering when or if Greta will ever say anything about that night, as Lexie tells Abe to stick it as she walks over to Stefano..........who has a wide grin on his face. Meanwhile.........


    UNIVERSITY HOSPITAL

    Frankie walks in dressed in his tuxedo and hands Greta some flowers. She smiles as she takes them and then compliments him on his look. Frankie thanks her and then asks how she got a big screen television with DVD and DVR into her hospital room. Greta says talk to her daddy. They both laugh as he looks at her, tells her how beautiful she is, kisses her, and wishes that she were going with him tonight.

    Frankie then sits down as she tells him she wishes the very same thing. Greta was wondering why Victor has been so close to her. And Frankie answers that question.........by telling her he is doing for her what he couldn’t do for Isabella. Greta now sees that. She knows Isabella died not too long after finding out she was his daughter and what she hopes is that he knows they are two different people.

    Then she says she’s now ready to prove that........by telling the police about her hit-and-run. She feels she has the strength now and is ready, even if she doesn't remember much about it. Frankie tells her how proud he is of her as he sits near her bed and the scene fades back to......


    SALEM TOWERS

    Maggie walks over to Lucas and Will. She hugs them both and asks how long have they been there and Will says he and Lucas road with the rest of the family. Maggie says that Sami would be proud and both men smile. As Lucas begins to say something,.......a drunken Joelle stumbles into him, saying through slurred speech........

    Joelle: My mother’s blood is on your hands..........and the hands of all the people of Salem.
    Lucas: You know, they will let any drunk in here. Me.....you.......anyone. Oh, and by the way,.........MICHAEL MYERS killed your mother, not me. I’m truly sorry for what happened, but.......
    Joelle: Spare me the sorrys, !@#$%^&*]. You’ll pay for what happened to her. I promise you that.

    Joelle stumbles away as Will says.......

    Will: Wow. You sure can pick ‘em, Dad.

    Lucas laughs as he and Will excuse themselves. As they walk, Will stops and turns around. Lucas asks what is wrong. Will says he feels like they are being watched. Lucas laughs and tells Will it's a ball. Of course, they're being watched. They both walk off as the mysterious figure once again watches them from afar.

    Maggie walks over to greet Caroline, Marlena and Roman. Victor joins her and, as he gives Caroline a kiss on the cheek, he shakes Roman’s hand and gives Marlena’s hand a kiss, telling her and Caroline how stunning they look tonight. Maggie tries not to roll her eyes as Marlena says how touched she is by what he has done. Roman sees that Marlena is getting emotional and Victor says it’s the least he could do. Roman takes Marlena as she wipes her tears.........

    And they both run into Barbara. Roman excuses himself as she pulls Marlena aside and asks her how she’s doing with everything. Marlena admits that it’s tough, very tough actually. But, she’s pulling through. Barbara says she can finally take that next step......

    By finally forgiving herself for her sister’s murder all those years ago. As Marlena looks at her with worry, the scene shifts to.........

    A dressed up Max, who is talking to Roman. He tells him he can’t stand wearing that tuxedo but will brave it for his niece and nephew. He tells Roman he loved them both, despite all the crap Sami pulled over the years. Roman knows that but, before he can say anything else,.........Abby walks in on Forrest’s arm. Max seethes with anger and Roman sees this........

    As the scene shifts to Maggie once again, shaking Forrest’s hand. She greets him and he says he wanted to be there tonight to not only help the people of Salem get through the recent night of horror but to show support for the Brady family. Alice, who is sitting nearby, thanks nForrest for watching over Abby, and apologizes for how he was treated. Forrest smiles and says no apology is needed. Maggie asks if the party is in poor taste and Forrest tells her no. It’s just what the doctor ordered.

    At that moment, Jack walks over dressed up and looking well. Forrest and Jack greet each other, with Forrest asking........

    Forrest: Here for business or pleasure?
    Jack: Both. Business for the Spectator and personal for me. Just make sure you keep my daughter safe, ok?

    Jack then steps over to Abby and kisses her on the cheek. She smiles as Jack then excuses himself to make a phone call. As Forrest and Abby walk off, Jack tries to call Alexander but gets the phone hung up on him. Jack puts his phone away after deciding not to call him again but, when he turns.........

    He sees Alex at the door, being greeted by Victor and Maggie. Alex sees Jack and stares hatred at him as Jack looks at his son with sadness.

    Doug comes into the party alone. He looks around for Hope, who hasn’t made it yet. As he turns,.......he comes face to face with Julie. As Julie tells Doug she hoped he would come, Doug excuses himself and walks off, leaving Julie standing there looking at him.......heartbroken.

    At the bar, Patricia walks over and gets a drink. Tony is standing there and sees that she is upset. He asks her what the great and powerful Salem DA could possibly be upset about. She says she feels like she has really done a poor job as DA with this mob war and the recent Myers attacks. And, she says, given that Greta is Victor’s daughter and a princess, her hit-and-run is another blot on her record. She says she thought his father did it but Tony says he was fond of Greta. He then pauses before saying that his feelings change like the wind blows, which makes Patricia ask him.........

    Does he think Stefano had Greta run down? As Tony thinks about her question, Bo and Hope walk into the party. Victor and Bo shake hands and he welcomes Hope to the party, complimenting her on how beautiful she looks. Hope thanks Victor and Victor then says he has a surprise for the both of them later. As Hope looks about the huge ballroom........

    She sees Steve with Kayla standing by the punch bowl. Alice is helped into the party by Maggie and Nico as Hope excuses herself and her and Bo walk over to say hi to Steve and Kayla. As Stephanie joins them, Bo says hi to everyone. But Hope, sensing the tension, excuses herself and says she has to go to the ladies room. As she leaves, everyone looks suspiciously at each other....

    The scene switches back to...


    PIER

    Billie is walking and finds herself late to the party. She comes up on a running and out of breath Anna, who stops and tells her that she just saw Kate being taken away by Orpheus and one of his men. Billie clutches her purse........which has a gun in it, tightly, as she worries for Kate’s safety.


    ORPHEUS' PENTHOUSE

    Orpheus orders his men to remove the blindfold and restraints and then orders them away. As Kate says she hates that thing, she says she needs to ask him why he never told her who his real father was. Orpheus tells her he just found out himself. Kate doesn’t believe him and, as she raises her voice, Sami can hear it from upstairs and thinks the voice is familiar. Back downstairs, Kate tells him that with what he, Roman and Shane Donovan did in the I.S.A., that is really rich coming from him.

    Orpheus tells her he doesn’t have to explain a thing to her and she is in no position to demand answers. One of the guards takes Sami’s dinner up to her as Orpheus and Kate argue.

    When he reaches the bedroom, he opens the door.........and Sami hits him on the back of his head with the end of her bedpost. As the guard tries to get up, Sami runs out the bedroom door and down the hall. Kate hears the noise from upstairs and goes to the steps. Orpheus demands that she not go upstairs...........

    But when Sami runs down the steps, both women finally come face to face. The guard runs to the top of the stairs, Orpheus stares at him with disgust.......

    And the scene freeze frames on Sami and Kate’s faces as they shockingly stare at one another.........and then the scene slowly fades to black.


    ON THE NEXT SALEM LIVES...

    9/17/07-BOOM PART 2

    SEPTEMBER 17, 2007: EPISODE #330: BOOM PART 2

    RUINS OF THE DIMERA MANSION

    Abe starts to stir and raises up to his knees, shaking the cobwebs out. The others start to slowly do the same as fire trucks, ambulances and police vehicles join Stefano’s men in racing up to the destroyed mansion. Fire is burning what’s left of the huge structure and everyone looks at the building, not being able to believe that a house once stood in that very same spot.

    Stefano slowly gets up and stands to his feet. His back is to his home and he is fearful of what he may see when he turns around. He slowly does and a look of shock and sadness comes over his face. He can’t believe that a home that has been in the DiMera family for many generations is now gone. He stands back and watches as firemen rush up to the home, pouring water on the blaze in hopes of it not growing out of control.

    As everyone looks on, Abe walks up to Stefano and tells him they will get to the bottom of this. Stefano laughs, saying that it would be like putting the Marx Brothers on a case. He then says that if it weren’t for Celeste, they all may be dead right now, so many thanks should go to her. Alexandra turns and thanks Celeste. She says that’s what mothers do.........protect their children. Celeste then looks at Stefano, saying that he better be grateful because, if Lexie wasn’t in the house with him,.........she would be happily dancing on his burnt corpse right now. Celeste then leans forward and kisses Lexie on the cheek. She then walks past Stefano to an ambulance to receive medical treatment. Lexie watches her leave and Abe asks if she is ok. Lexie fights back tears as she says she’s fine. She then turns and walks away, leaving both Stefano and Abe to look at one another.

    At that moment, a police officer runs up to Stefano and tells him that Cassie has been found. When Stefano frantically asks about her, the officer says she’s alive........but has serious injuries. Stefano tells Abe he must go to the hospital so all of this can wait. For once, even Abe understands, and lets Stefano go. As Stefano runs with the officer past Marlena and Anna, they look at each other, upset that they still haven’t gotten a chance to talk to him. Anna tells a paramedic that she is alright so she wishes he would stop poking at her. Marlena tells her to be still and let them do their jobs but Anna isn’t listening. All she wants to know is when can she talk to Stefano one on one. Marlena nods her head, hoping for the very same thing, as they watch the mansion burn.

    As Abe stands and watches the fire, Bo comes running up and asks him what happened. Abe looks at Bo, saying that he has a feeling that he already knows. Bo says he doesn’t know what Abe is talking about. Abe asks Bo if he knows how this explosion occurred. Bo says he was at the hospital when he got the call. Abe pauses, then tells him that if he finds out Bo is lying........stripping him of his badge will be the least of his worries. Abe then turns and starts to walk away but not before turning back around and telling Bo that he better tell his father that he is a prime suspect in all of this. Abe then walks off, leaving Bo to walk back to his car.......looking very worried.

    KIRIAKIS MANSION LIVING ROOM



    Victor walks into the main living room with Roman and Nico following close behind. Victor walks over to his wine cabinet and pours both men a drink. Nico says that all of Victor’s men are keeping an eye on Stefano’s people and will call in if anything is up. Victor looks at Roman and tells him that he hasn’t been this proud of him since he married Isabella. Roman doesn’t smile, telling Victor that maybe if he would have done something like this sooner, Isabella may still be alive. Victor says that Isabella didn’t die of nothing else but the cancer that took her home, that’s all. He then says that Roman has to stop blaming himself for what happened with Sami and Eric and everyone else. He then says that the next time he has someone like Orpheus or Stefano in his cross hairs.......he better pull the [!@#$%^&*] trigger. Roman nods his head slowly.

    Bo then walks in, saying that he saw Abe and hopes he believes the lie that he told him. Victor commends Bo, saying that he did what was necessary. Roman says that he’ll smooth it over with Abe later. Nobody need know what the three of them planned and carried out. There then is a knock at the main room door and Maggie stands right there looking at Victor. Bo, Roman and Nico excuse themselves and leave them both alone to talk.

    Maggie walks over to Victor, telling him that the explosion is all over the nightly news. And, she says, she knows he did it. Victor says of course he did and will not deny it. He tells her that she knew what kind of man he was when they met so don’t act surprised now. Maggie pauses for a moment and says that she’ll be upstairs when he comes to bed. She then walks over and kisses him on his cheek, saying that she won’t interfere in business that’s not hers, so long as he’s honest with her. He agrees and tells her he’ll be up in a bit. After Maggie leaves, Victor looks through the glass door at Bo, Nico and Roman and grimly walks out to the patio.

    UNIVERSITY HOSPITAL



    Stefano paces the waiting area as Lexie goes to see what’s going on with Cassie. Marlena then walks in and Stefano tells her that Cassie has a concussion but seems to be ok. Marlena is glad to hear her daughter is ok. Stefano then tells Marlena he gets the feeling she is there for another reason besides checking on Cassie. She says she needs to talk to him.........about Roman. Stefano says that Roman Brady is the last thing he wants to discuss. Marlena doesn’t care about that. She needs a favor from him regarding Roman. Stefano says that she hasn’t repaid him for the favor he did for Sami before her execution. Marlena says he didn’t do one damn thing. He lies, saying that it was he who kept her from being executed. Marlena doesn’t believe him but asks him what he intends to do about Roman.

    From a distance, Anna watches as Stefano asks Marlena if they can go onto the balcony and talk about this. Marlena agrees and, as she follows Stefano, Belle walks into the waiting area, having seen her mother leave with Stefano. Just then, Roman walks into the waiting area, saying that he heard about the explosion and asks if Marlena is there.

    Belle has a worried look on her face, not knowing if she should lie to her father..........or tell him the truth.

    MAISON BLANCHE, NEW ORLEANS



    Hope, Steve, and Tony talk while in the dungeon. Hope wonders how they will get out. Tony shakes his head, saying no one will even think about looking for them there. Steve says he is not going to wait around like some little dude. He is going to find a way out on his own. After a short time, they are shocked when the door opens and Byron returns. He tells them all to go. Hope asks why he changed his mind. Byron says it didn't feel right and they are good people. He knows Tony is from knowing him for years while working for the family and he can tell her and Steve are. Steve, Hope, and Tony give him their contact info and tell him they will be in touch to get him and his family protection. They tell him to go home now and to leave the area with his family for their own protection. Byron agrees and thanks
    them. They then thank Byron in return for having the courage to come back for them and do the right thing. Byron warns them that Stefano may know they were at Maison Blanche as one of the Dimera security people knew. He tells them to watch their back. They thank him and promise they will. They wish Byron luck and go upstairs.

    Later, as they are about to leave, Hope thinks they should call Bo and Kayla. Steve thinks it is a good idea but that it would be easier if she called as he might say something wrong or something and cause more problems then they need. Hope nods her head and says she will do it. She then dials Bo's number and he answers from the Kiriakis Mansion. The reception is poor. Bo asks where she is. Hope says she is with Steve right now and she doesn't know when her or Steve will be home. She just wanted to tell him they are fine and they will
    keep in touch. He asks her to tell Kayla and the rest of the family and to give JT a big kiss for her. Bo tells Hope she is breaking up and tries to ask her where she is. Just as Bo is about to ask her again, the line goes dead, worrying Bo. Hope tells Steve the phone lost it's signal and the reception was poor the whole time. Tony tells them they have no time. They need to get to the airport if they are going to fly out tonight to Italy. Hope tells Steve they can call Bo and Kayla again sometime later and, hopefully, they will have a clearer call. They all then head for the airport

    Meanwhile, back in Salem, Bo feverishly tries to reach Hope, wondering what happened to her phone and what is going on as the scene fades to black.

    SALEM LIVES: HEAD WRITER'S STATUS REPORT PART 2!!

    IT'S BEEN ONE HELL OF A YEAR THUS FAR ON SALEM LIVES AND, LIKE LAST YEAR, WE ARE SITTING DOWN WITH THE TEAM THAT DELIVERS IT ALL TO YOU ON A DAILY BASIS...HEAD WRITERS TIM LOWERY (PHOENIX) AND PATRICK L. EWING (ROMAN). IN THE SECOND OF A TWO PART FEATURE, WE SIT DOWN WITH TIM LOWERY TO GET HIS TAKE ON ALL THE HAPPENINGS ON SALEM LIVES AND WHAT IS TO COME!


    Interviewer (I): We last talked to you personally a few weeks ago but we didn't ask much in general about the past year. How do you think Salem Lives has changed in the year since you came aboard and you both began writing together?

    Tim Lowery (TL): Well, I began this journey by myself and laid the groundwork and then found myself a wonderful, hard working partner with such a creative vision that truly helped us create a world that fans of these characters could be proud of. I think Salem Lives has gotten better with every episode. I think it took us awhile to work out the kinks and to get to a place where we feel comfortable. I think we both feel that the canvas is ours and I think our loyal readers know what to expect when they come here daily. They know they are going to get character-driven story featuring characters they know and love. They know there will be shocks and that we take risks. We always do what is best for Salem Lives and for the story and characters. That is who we are and what we will always be about. So, I think the biggest change is people know who we are and what we are about. The other changes have been mainly to the cast and I feel we are getting to a better place now where the canvas is more manageable.


    I: How do you think Salem Lives has improved in the last year?

    TL: Well, I think my answer above helps to answer this but I also think we are more comfortable now. I think we both have learned alot and my partner and I have a system that works so well for us. I truly think it's taken a year to fully embed ourselves in this and to understand what we have to do to be successful on all levels of doing this. We've both learned from each other and from the fans. I think my partner and I can both agree that this has been a very rewarding experience this far and that it's a blast to put out our vision on a daily basis. I just think we have this knowledge now that has allowed us to better Salem Lives and to base it on ideals important to us...that of romance, adventure, mystery. etc. That has been our biggest improvement, other then amping up our stories and proving what we can do and are all about.

    I: What have been your favorite stories since last August? Any favorite episodes or moments?

    TL: The Marlena MPD story is a favorite of mine. The mob war and showdown in Sydney is another. Orpehus's big return with Vendetta is another. Vendetta was very difficult with the game and all the extra features. We simply wanted to be more interactive and to do something that no one else was doing. We're proud of what it accomplished but it was alot of work and it hindered our story a bit with so many being involved in it. Some characters, like James McCluer, suffered from not enough character work and I apologize to my partner for that. He created James and I allowed so much of the story to be pushed aside. I will always regret that. I think alot of the current stories we have going are my favorite. The Forrest story and Steve being Chelsea's father are faves of mine. I think it may be easier asking me about my least favorite (laughs). Oh, and as for favorite moment, Orpheus's unmasking and Sami's "death" and the reveal that she was alive are the best and most memorable for me.

    I: What are your least favorite stories since last August? Any least favorite episodes or moments?

    TL: Well, some aspects of Vendetta, as I said above, were all over the place. I felt the Maggie/Victor/Doug/Julie story got muddled a bit in the spring. I think the Cassie/Max/Abby/Chelsea story didn't get enough attention, nor did the Lexie/Abe/Celeste story. I think all these suffered from a bloated cast, which is why we are making cuts. I don't think there was a clear cut flop of a story or moment though. I guess I am kind of embarrassed about the whole cruise ship in Salem thing (laughs). I took alot of hell from my partner and others for that. It will be one of those unsolved mysteries. How did that ship get into Illinois? (laughs) That story was written 8 months in advance and I still missed that plot point!

    I: Do you feel the writing for Salem Lives as a whole has improved in the past year?

    TL: I already answered this above but, yes, I think it has. I mean, having a full year under our belt now together is bound to improve us. We use history even more then we did before. We emphasize emotion better and our execution is better. As I said, we learned as we went along but also learned a great deal from each other and our loyal readers. I think we will only get better from here. I am doing my best to shorten the length of the episodes I write. I think our fans will start noticing some changes next week in the day to day episode writing. We are going to really strive to make Salem Lives the best it can be. We're both very excited.

    I: What would you like to do in the future on Salem Lives that hasn't been done yet?

    TL: Good question and one that is hard to answer without giving out the future ideas we are discussing right now. All I will say is I would really like to do a good murder story at some point with suspects and all. I just like those stories and I know I would have fun writing the fallout. My partner would like it too, I think.

    I: In the past year, have you changed your feelings toward any particular character you wrote for? In other words, do you now hate writing for a character that you once enjoyed writing for?

    TL: As my partner said in his interview, it's a waste to keep someone around you can't write for due to your feelings for them. I find something interesting about all the characters so I don't find a problem writing for any of them. Some of the cuts we made, however, were of people that were getting to a point where we felt they needed a rest. We just felt they were played out right now so we are moving them off the canvas but plan to bring them back at some point. At that time, we will have a fresh perspective. I will say I find myself enjoying writing for Doug and Julie much more then I thought. It was hard writing for them at first because it felt like they were nothing but props but getting them into story helped that along nicely.

    I: Salem Lives has had a large cast for the past year, one that is being cut down a bit now. Will cutting down help and did you find writing for a large cast difficult?

    TL: I think this issue has been beaten to a pulp (laughs). It was difficult, as I mentioned above, but we had to use who we did to further story and to get the canvas to the place we have it now. The cuts we are making now will make Salem Lives much tighter and cohesive. It should help us be able to capture every beat of every story we do and our balance, which is good, will only get better.

    I: Salem Lives uses Days history an awful lot and seems to strive to be true to every character. How important do you feel history is to the writing and to Salem Lives?

    TL: Without a doubt. It's one of the most important things in writing a soap. As a writer of a soap, you have to recognize that much happened before your time and that the fans know all this. The fans need to be treated like intelligent people. You need to show them that you care about history and the characters and you do that by mentioning and using history in your stories. It impresses them and inspires confidence as they will learn to trust you as a writer. History also enhances a story and can help a fan care about it and a new character if you tie it back to the past. Utilizing history just makes for a more well-rounded story or show. We love using history and it's a big part of what we do. One of our upcoming stories will be utilizing alot of history. We're excited about it.

    I: Orpheus as the MCF seems to have been the biggest story of the year, along with the Victor vs Stefano war. Clearly, both are umbrella stories. How important do you feel umbrella stories are to Salem Lives and how you feel personally about them? What are you thoughts on the MCF/Orpheus story and the Victor vs Stefano story? Do you feel they were successful quality-wise as umbrella stories?

    TL: Very important because they improve balance and can draw more fans in because many faves are involved in one story. Therefore, some fans who only like certain characters or couples can learn to like others by way of an umbrella story. They just amp up the atmosphere and create a much more exciting story and show. They can be taxing, especially if you write one like Vendetta was that involved everyone in the cast, but they can be very rewarding in the end as they can change the whole climate and landscape of a show. I think the Orpehus story and mob war story were superb and that they were fantastic stories. They affected the whole canvas and really impacted long-term story, which is what umbrella stories are supposed to do. They were a blast for both of us to write and still are as both stories are still ongoing.

    I: What are you most excited about that is upcoming on Salem Lives this Fall and beyond? Is there anything you want Salem Lives as a whole to improve on and is there anything you feel you want to personally improve on as a writer?

    TL: Well, I am personally going to improve on shortening the episodes I write and I think we are both going to strive to make Salem Lives the best it can be...tighter, cohesive, etc. I am excited about everything. Honestly, this is the most excited I have been. The stories we have coming our classic soap but also very unique in themselves. The balance is good and we will be using history and even faces from the past. My partner and I love what is ahead!

    I: Any other further thoughts on Salem Lives' past, present, or future?

    TL: I just want to say thank you to my gifted, loyal, and hard working partner. Without your creative mind and your friendship, Salem Lives would never be what it is today. I want to thank the loyal readers who check us out everyday. We appreciate it and hope you continue to do so and that we succeed in entertaining you all.     -At the Horton House, Hope arrives and tells Alice that everything is all set the the funeral. She just hopes everyone's flights arrive on time. Alice doesn't answer and Hope asks if she is ok. Alice says:

    Alice: It's going to be one of the hardest days of my life. Your children aren't supposed to leave this world before you.

    Alice begins to tear up, saying she has to be strong and wants to be. Hope embraces her and tells her she is strong but that she needs to just grieve and let her emotions out. They both comfort each other as tears fall from their eyes.

    -At University Hospital, Julie arrives in Maggie's room for a visit. She greets Maggie with a smile and asks her how it feels to be going home tomarrow. Maggie says she won't be going home or to the funeral tomarrow....because the police are on their way to question her about the fire at Chez Rouge. Julie displays a look of panic. Maggie says the jig is up and that she has no intentions to fight it. She is just going to turn herself in. Julie tells her not to that and says:

    Julie: You didn't set that fire, Maggie. That is what you are going to tell the police.

    -At Salem Place, Austin and Eric are stunned when Sami and Lucas reiterate what they observed when they were with Carrie earlier. Both Sami and Lucas add that they are really worried about Carrie, which makes Austin and Eric feel the same way.

    Meanwhile, outside Ballistix, Nicole asks Carrie what she is talking about as Kate watches and overhears. Carrie tells Nicole again that the baby she is holding is her baby. Nicole says that isn't possible....this is the baby Eric and herself found. Carrie admits she feels a connection to Evan and says that's it's like a maternal instinct. This is her child. She knows it. A panicked Nicole doesn't know what to do and wonders why Carrie is feeling and acting this way.

    As Kate watches, she sees how worried Nicole seems to be but reminds herself that anyone would be worried if someone else was claiming their child as their own. Kate recalls her conversation with Henderson about Victor and Nicole and decides to head over to talk with Victor.

    -Back at University Hospital, Maggie reminds Julie that she has already remembered committing the crime so she has to confess. Julie points out to Maggie that she claimed her memories were blurred so she may not be remembering correctly. Julie also tells Maggie she has something to tell her that she waited to tell her until she was well enough. Julie admits that she saw Marlena exiting Chez Rouge after smoke began pouring out of the restaurant.

    Maggie says that doesn't prove nothing. Maggie looks at Julie and asks why she wants her to lie and why she is trying to push all this on Marlena. Julie says that Marlena is the prime suspect. She was in the area and her current condition and behavior wouldn't make it surprising if she did set the fire. Maggie is adamant that she knows she did it. She can remember enough to know that she is responsible and has to pay.

    Julie reminds Maggie to think about her family and friends. The Horton's are going through a difficult time right now and her being arrested and all the press and media around them because of it...it would be too much. Julie doesn't think the family can deal with that kind of thing right now. Plus, Julie points out, Marlena is going to have to be locked up for a long time. She needs help so pinning the crime on her would not keep Marlena from being freed anytime sooner. She will be declared insane in court regardless so she isn't being hurt if the fire is pinned on her.

    Maggie feels guilty as Marlena is her friend. Julie says she is her friend too but the family doesn't need any more problems and the family needs Maggie to be there for them. Maggie says she can't coverup her crime and that it's just asking too much. Mickey's death still eats awat at her and this would too, especially since it put Doug in a coma. Maggie asks Julie why she would want to help her after the fact that she started the fire that put her husband in a coma. Julie says she loves Maggie and she is her aunt. She would do anything for her.

    Maggie smiles as a police officer from the SPD knocks outside, asking Maggie if he can come in. Julie looks at Maggie and says the choice is hers. Maggie invites the officer in and the officer asks Julie if she can leave so he can have some privacy with Maggie. Julie agrees and gives Maggie a knowing stare when she leaves. The officer sits down as Maggie thanks him and the entire SPD for giving her and her family the time and space to recover before questioning her about the fire. The officer says they all understand what a hard time it's been and the Horton's are a well-respected family. The officer then tells Maggie that it's time to get down to business and asks her to recount the circumstances surrounding the fire, if she could. Maggie takes a deep breath and contemplates what to do.

    -Back at Salem Place, Carrie continues to maintain that Evan is her son. Nicole is getting worried about Evan and wonders if Carrie has snapped. She tells Carrie to give her Evan. Carrie refuses and the women's arguing gets louder. Meanwhile, Austin tells Sami and Lucas that he needs to find out what is going on with Carrie before she goes over the edge, which it seems she may be close to based on what they told him. Eric rejoins them with a cup of coffee and says something big is going down near Ballistix as alot of people are watching something. Austin, Eric, Sami, and Lucas go check it out.

    When they get to Ballistix, they are stunned to see Carrie and Nicole arguing. Austin and Eric step in the middle, followed by Sami and Lucas. Nicole fills them in on what is going on and Austin looks at Carrie, who tells Austin she has their baby. Austin looks at her, worried along with everyone else.

    -Kate arrives at the Kiriakis Mansion and rings the bell. Henderson answers. Kate asks if Philip is around. Henderson says no but, if he was, Kate would have to leave. Kate asks where he is. Henderson says he went to talk with some lawyers about the Belle situation. Kate asks if Victor is home and gets an answer quickly as he comes up behind Henderson, asking Kate what she wants.

    Kate says they need to talk. She enters the mansion and Henderson leaves them alone. Victor asks what's going on. Kate says they do need to talk about Philip but rshe has something else on her mind...Nicole Walker-Brady. Kate tells Victor she wants to know about his involvement with her of late.

    -Back at the Horton House, Hope returns to the living room to find Alice sleeping in her chair. Hope puts a blanket on her and covers her. She then kisses her forehead and tells her:

    Hope: Good night and sweet dreams. God knows...you deserve it.

    Hope then leaves as Alice continues to rest in her chair, peacefully.

    -Back at University Hospital, the officer exits Maggie's room as Julie watches, wondering what Maggie's decision was. The officer goes over to Julie and tells her he as a question for her. The officer mentions that Maggie said that Julie could back her up on something in her story...and that is that she saw Dr. Marlena Evans leaves Chez Rouge shortly after the fire began. Julie realizes Maggie lied and pinned the crime on Marlena. Julie says that's right. Marlena is who she saw leaving. She just blocked it out with so much going on with the family and all. She just kind of let it slip to the back of her mind.

    The officer asks Julie if she is sure and she nods. The officer thanks her. Julie asks if Marlena is the one and only suspect. The officer says it seems she isn't a suspect as based on what she and Maggie told him, Marlena is the one that torched Chez Rouge. Julie pretends to act horrified. The officer says he has to go but he will in touch when more details about the case are available and if he or the SPD need anything else. He apologizes for their family's loss, to which Julie thanks him, and he leaves.

    Julie races back into Maggie's room and smiles. She tells her she did the right thing. Maggie says she hopes so but it doesn't feel right at all. Maggie tells Julie she only did this for their family. Julie understands. Maggie doesn't know if she can live with this guilt combined with the guilt she still feels over Mickey's death. Julie says she has to and that she and her loved ones will help her along the way. Julie promises her that everything will be ok...it has to be as it can't be much worse then this.

    -Back at the Kiriakis Mansion, Victor asks Kate what makes her think he is involved with Nicole. Kate says she just knows he does and that he has been helping her. She knows he pulled strings to help her get her baby and she knows he gave her Lucas's old Titan job. She asks Victor what their deal was. They hate each other so it had to be a good one. She asks him what she gave him in return. Victor tells Kate to get out.

    Kate says she will get out when he tells her if everything she has said so far is true. Victor says Nicole is working at Titan now. That will be public knowledge soon anyway and he did help out with the adoption of the baby but that's it. They wanted to start anew with each other so there was no deal. Kate doesn't buy it but Victor doesn't care. He orders her gone. Kate agrees, saying she got what she came for and probably as much as she will get anyway and she doesn't want Philip to see her there. Kate walks out as an angry Victor asks himself why Kate can't mind her own business and why he ever got involved again with Nicole in the first place.

    Meanwhile, outside the mansion, Kate knows Victor is leaving out alot about what is going on with him and Nicole. She knows he wanted something from her as he always wants something from someone when he helps them. It's how he bargains. Kate vows to find out the truth as to whether Nicole's baby is Carrie's or not. This is about her grandchild and her sons, Austin and Lucas, and she needs to find out the truth for their sakes.

    -Back at Salem Place, Austin tries to calm Carrie down and asks her to let him have the baby. Carrie tells Austin that she knows he has been waiting to hold what could be his son and she tells Lucas and him they will go to the hospital and do a paternity test ASAP. Austin takes the baby and gives it right back to Nicole. Carrie asks Austin what he is doing. Austin grabs Carrie and tells her that Evan is not thier baby. He is the baby Eric and Nicole found. Their baby is dead.

    Carrie: No!! Our baby is not dead!!
    Austin: You told me he was...
    Sami: Austin...you have to get her out of here and out of public.
    Lucas: Yeah. She is only making a spectacle out of herself.
    Austin: Your right.

    Austin takes Carrie and guides her as they walk. Carrie is breaking down in tears and is inconsolable, still adamant that Evan is her baby. She tries to break free of Austin but she can't and he pulls her along, telling her it's ok. He knows her baby dying was hard. He tells her they will get through it together. Carrie looks back at Nicole with Evan and cries out for her baby as she walks off with Austin.

    Sami and Lucas feel horrible. Sami feels like this may be too much for Carrie and that she may have completely lost it. Lucas fears the worst too. They embrace and comfort each other.

    Nicole holds Evan tightly and tells him that mommy is never going to let him go again. She says she is glad he didn't get scared and says to him:

    Nicole: Not to worry. Mommy will always take care of you. She will never let you go. No one will take you away from me.

    Nicole then leaves with Evan as Eric watches and asks:

    Eric: What are you hiding, Nicole? Whatever it is, it's going to come out. Whether you like it or not...it will happen.

    The screen then fades out on a split screen of Eric, Nicole, Austin holding Carrie, Lucas holding Sami and Evan's little face in the middle.

    On the Next Salem Lives...

    Cal: I hope this works. This may be my only chance.
    Katherine: What the hell could he be doing?
    Sami to Lucas (and Eric): Carrie may end up right next to mom...in the psych ward.
    Austin to Carrie: LISTEN TO ME!! YOUR BABY IS GONE!!! HE'S GONE!!
    Carrie to Austin: NO!!!!
    Kate to Nicole: Hello, Nicole. My, have you been busy.
    Victor to Philip: You agree to Belle's demands or you lose everything. Your choice.

    SEPTEMBER 11, 2007: EPISODE #326: INTRIGUE

    MAISON BLANCHE, NEW ORLEANS

    Hope, Steve, and Tony continue to survey the steel box they found in the globe. Tony wonders how it can be opened. Steve wonders if the key opens it. Tony tries but it doesn't fit. Hope notes that the key seems like an awkward make as the keyhole looks rather unique. Hope asks Tony if Daphne ever showed him or gave him a weird looking key. Tony thinks back and can't recall any. He then has an idea and races over to a painting on the far left wall. He takes down the painting, which is of a gorgeous sunset in the French Riviera, and examines it. Tony explains his mother loved this painting and always talked to him about how it was created for her to give her a lasting image of one of the most beautiful sights she has ever see in the world. Tony caresses the canvas and then stops, acting as if he has found something.

    Tony flips the painting over and asks for Steve's knife. Steve gives it to him. Tony wishes he didn't have to cut in to it but has no choice. Tony takes the knife and begins cutting into the back of the painting, only to discover a unusual jagged edge key. Hope thinks that's it. Tony and Hope pick up the steel box and use the key, which is successful in opening it. Steve, Hope, and Tony are all three shocked by what they see inside.


    COAST GUARD MEDICAL CENTER (LOCATION UNKNOWN)

    Jack enters Billie's room. He tells her that he heard she is ready to be released. Billie nods and says she is happy they can finally head home. She asks Jack if he has called home yet. He says he didn't. There was so much going on that it kind of slipped through the cracks. Billie thinks they need to call first so that their loved ones will know they are alive. Jack agrees and says they will do it together. Jack pulls out his cell and dials.

    UNIVERSITY HOSPITAL

    Frankie is by Greta's bedside in ICU, holding her hand. He then hears a knock on the window and sees that it's Stephanie. He leaves Greta and exits the room. Stephanie embraces him and asks how he is holding up. Frankie says he is trying but he can't stand to see Greta like that. Stephanie apologizes for stopping by but says something came to her when she heard about Greta's hit and run and she just had to tell him immediately. Just then, Frankie's cell rings. He remembers he shouldn't have it on in the hospital but sees an unfamiliar number on the caller ID and answers out of curiosity. He is shocked to hear Jack's voice.

    Jack tells Frankie that him and Billie are alive and they will explain everything later. He just wanted to tell him so he could spread the word. Frankie is overjoyed and tells Stephanie, who also is happy. Jack tells him they should be coming in later tonight. Frankie thinks maybe Jack should surprise Abby. This way she doesn't have to go nuts waiting and wondering where he has been and so on. Jack thinks that might work, even though he hates keeping her on the dark some more. Frankie says he will keep it all a secret from Abby until they get back. Jack thanks him. Frankie tells Jack he is glad he is hurrying back. He fills him in on what happened with Greta. Jack is devestated and relays the info to Billie, who is just as horrified. Frankie tells him it isn't good and he may want to hurry to see her just in case. Jack understands and tells Frankie they will be seeing him soon. They both hang up. Jack is upset over Greta's hit and run. Billie can't believe she may die.

    Elizabeth walks in and asks if everything is ok. Billie tells her a friend of theirs is near death in Salem. Jack tells Elizabeth they will be heading back to Salem tonight. Elizabeth asks about her and Alexander. Jack tells her they will be coming with them. He wants that DNA test done to further prove Alexander is his son. Elizabeth nods hesistantly. She decides she better go find Alexander as she isn't sure he will want to go anywhere. She excuses herself and leaves. Billie asks Jack if he has noticed that it seems Elizabeth is nervous about the DNA test. Jack admits that she seems agitated when he brings it up but thinks the test will give them the answers they need. Billie nods and is glad Jack is persuing this so they will know for sure. Jack then asks what will happen if Alexander is his son. Billie tells him they will cross that bridge when they get to it.

    Meanwhile, Elizabeth enters a stairwell and finds Alexander sitting on the top step. She tells him she has been looking all over for him. He tells her that he knows Jack and Billie are going home to Salem and that she is looking for him to make sure he is coming too since she is going. Elizabeth asks if he is going. Alexander is silent for a few moments before saying he is going. He knows he would regret if he didn't. He needs to know for sure if Jack is his father for his own piece of mind. Elizabeth is pleased to hear that. Alexander tells her she isn't off the hook. No one is. He may never forgive her for not telling him and he isn't quite sure what he will do or how he will deal with all this. Elizabeth understands. She then tells Alexander they will likely be leaving tonight so he should start getting ready. Alexander nods and says he will. Elizabeth is about to say something and touch his shoulder but stops herself as tears well in her eyes while she thinks about how she has hurt her son. Elizabeth then exits the staircase, leaving behind a blankfaced Alexander, who seems lost in his own world.


    NORTH SIDE OF SALEM (OUTSIDE FORMER SALEM CLUB)

    Maggie is still with Nico and a bodyguard as they wait for AAA. Maggie continues to be fascinated with the rundown former Salem Club property. Just then, Max pulls up. He says he saw the car as he drove by and asks if he can help. Maggie embraces him, saying she is glad to see him as AAA is taking forever. Max offers to take a look at the car. Nico tells him to go ahead. After several minutes of tinkering with things and surveying the car, Max thinks they can't do anything right now. It needs to be taken to a garage. AAA then pulls up. Max says it's perfect timing and then suggests to Nico that Maggie and the bodyguard drive with him since the AAA truck only has room for really one passenger. They can just meet at his garage. Nico is ok with that and tells the bodyguard to not let Maggie out of his sight. The bodyguard nods. Maggie and the bodyguard go with Max in his car as Nico fills out paperwork.

    HORTON HOUSE

    Forrest and Abby are at the door, waving to the doctor and thanking him for his help. They then close the door. Abby thinks the first session went well and feels she made progress for the first time. Forrest says she will do even better when the new meds kick in. Abby is so excited as she feels hopeful for the first time in a long time. She just wishes her dad was back and that Chelsea wasn't in jail. Forrest tells her it will all be ok and embraces her. His phone then rings. He excuses himself. Abby tells him she is going into the kitchen to help her great-grandma with the cookies she is making. Forrest nods.

    After Abby has left the room, Forrest answers the phone and tells the person not to call him unless it's at the specified time they agreed upon. He then tells the person he knows things aren't as easy as they hoped but assures the person he is already taking steps to move plans up so no one can stop them from accomplishing the mission they vowed to complete. Forrest then displays a devilish grin as he continues his phone conversation.

    MAX'S CAR

    Max is driving with Maggie in the front seat and the bodyguard in the back. Maggie thanks Max for his help. He says it's nothing. She asks about how things are going in his life. Max thinks they could be better but he doesn't complain. He admits he is worried about Abby. Maggie admits she is too. She is vulnerable with everything going on and "Fred" isn't helping. Maggie admits that he gives her the creeps. Max tells Maggie he has a feeling that "Forr...Fred" is dangerous and he hats Abby being around him but she won't listen. Max realizes he nearly said Forrest and is thankful he caught himself as no one else can learn about "Fred's" real identity until they know Abby is out of harm's way.

    Maggie asks Max if it's possible "Fred" may not be so bad and maybe he is over analyzing or something. Max reminds Maggie she doesn't like him either. Maggie smiles and tells him he is right. Maggie thinks he may do better off just keeping an eye on Abby from a distance and focusing on other things. Max wishes her could, especially since his garage has been struggling. He hired a mechanic to help but things are out of sorts with him not being around there much the past few months. Maggie thinks he should focus more on that while also looking out for Abby. Max sees her point but admits he isn't that into the garage or racing anymore. In between everything else, he has been thinking of doing something new.

    Maggie: I know the feeling. Victor and I were discussing it earlier and I told him I was looking for something new too. I figured it would just fall into my lap if I was meant to do something.
    Max: That's usually how it is.
    Maggie: And, you know, it's funny, because I think something may have fallen into my lap. The car stalled in front of the old Salem Club building. I was just talking with Nico about how great the place used to be and how the building has major potential. It just needs work and proper ownership.
    Max: So, your thinking of buying the place?
    Maggie: Well, I don't know. I mean, it's funny how I was talking with Victor about doing something different and how fate would bring me an opportunity if I was meant to have one and this happens. The car breaks down right in front of the Salem Club building and I can't seem to stop thinking about the place.
    Max: Go for it, Maggie. You would be great. You ran Tuscany and Chez Rouge really well.
    Maggie: True but I can't do this alone. I need someone to handle the alcohol portion of running a nightclub because I do not want a relapse and I just can't see myself taking on a much bigger venture like this alone.

    Maggie's eyes then light up as she recalls something Max said:

    Maggie: Wait, you mentioned earlier how you were looking for something new and different to take on. How about...why don't...why don't you and I team up?
    Max: Wha...
    Maggie: I have plenty of money and you can just put up whatever you can. We can be equal partners and we can create a club that will be the most happening place in Salem. I mean, it's going to be alot of work but it will be fun and different.
    Max: Maggie...I don't know...
    Maggie: It can be easy money, Max. If we go about this right, it could be a hit. Plus, you could score major points with Abby by working with her aunt.
    Max: Doubt it. Sure, it would be fun and could work out well. I don't know if I want to take such a big risk.
    Maggie: Like I said, put up what you can. I will take care of the rest. We will work something out.
    Max: Well, you really want to do this now, don't you? I mean, your serious?
    Maggie: Yeah. I guess I do. So, what do you say?
    Max: Hmm...you know what? I've always taken chances so why not? Let's do it.
    Maggie: Yes! Max, I promise you that it will work out. I can feel it.
    Max: Oh yeah. Let me guess...it's all fate? Fate setting you on the right path. Fate...
    Maggie: Mock it all you want. It's true. That car broke down there for a reason and you drove by for a reason. It's all coming together.
    Max: Whatever you say, partner (smiles).

    Maggie smiles back at Max.

    UNIVERSITY HOSPITAL

    Frankie and Stephanie are both stunned and happy that Jack and Billie have been found alive. Frankie reminds her to keep it a secret from Abby until they get home. Stephanie says she will. Frankie then reminds Stephanie she was going to tell him something about Greta's hit and run before Jack called. Stephanie remembers and says she was thinking that her and Max told him and Greta last night that "Fred" was really Forrest Alamain and she wonders if maybe Forrest orchestrated or committed the hit and run to send a message for them to back off. Frankie thinks about that possibility and thinks it's a good theory. He wonders how Forrest would know that he and Greta know. Stephanie reminds him they were all at Java cafe together and Forrest was there with Abby. He may have heard them or just put two and two together or something.

    Frankie thinks it's possible but reminds Stephanie they can't tell Bo, Abe, or anyone else because Abby's life may be in danger and, if word gets out all over that "Fred" is Forrest Alamain, who knows what he may do, especially to Abby. Stephanie knows that but thinks they have to do something. Frankie thinks they just have to look into the chance that Forrest did it on their own. If they find evidence he did, they can present it over to the police and bust him and it will be all over. That is all they can do. Stephanie thinks that may work. Frankie then tells her that if Forrest did hit Greta, he hates to think of what may be in store for anyone else, including Abby. Stephanie notes that the nightmare in Salem may only get worse. Frankie solemnly nods as he looks through the window at Greta in her ICU room.

    MAISON BLANCHE, NEW ORLEANS

    Tony pulls out a torn and faded piece of paper, much like the diary entry Daphne left but, this time, it's a bit longer. Hope asks him to read what it says.

    Tony: My dear Tony, to Tuscany you must go. Your father's birthplace holds the key to something very special I am entrusting you with. You must go immediately before Stefano catches on. I had no choice but to use desperate measures to evade Stefano. My apologies for dragging you down to Maison Blanche only to find more mystery then answers. I promise you that Tuscany will reveal all. My hope is that you remain safe from the wrath of Stefano. Good luck on your continued journey, my loving son. Love, Your mother. P.S. The answers you seek in Tuscany lie in the place where love bloomed but also died.

    Hope and Steve are stunned, as is Tony. He understands why his mother felt the need to go to such lengths to protect whatever it is she wants him to find but to send him to New Orleans for yet another clue and now to Italy. Hope asks Tony what he is going to do. Tony says he has no choice. He needs to head for Italy...immediately. He can't have Stefano catching on. The sooner he goes, the better. Tony apologizes that he can't stay and help but promises to assist in any way once he, hopefully, obtains the answers he is looking for in Tuscany. Steve says it's alright. It's understandable. Tony thanks him for understanding and asks Hope if she is ok.

    Hope: I'm fine with it, especially since we're going with you, Tony.

    Tony and Steve are both shocked by Hope's words as the scene freezes on a smiling and determined Hope and then fades to black

    ON THE NEXT SALEM LIVES...

    TO ITALY WE WILL GO...OR NOT?!

    -The plane has taken off and is on its way to Melaswen. John is talking to Shane about their plan once landing. Shane says they will all need to stick together and head for the center of the island as the nerve center is likely in that vicinity. Meanwhile, back in Salem, we the woman who was watching Shane. She is at the docks and is near the Fancy Face III. She gets on board the boat and takes it out and prepares to sail out. We see on the map she is using that she has an island in the caribbean circled-Melaswen.
    -Lexie and get into an all out catfight after she once again blames Lexie and her family for all this. Belle urges Sami to calm down. Lexie and Sami both remind each other of the blackmail they have on each other. Lexie says it makes no difference now and then remembers Abe's casket being empty and she wonders again if he could be alive. She decides not take any chances and realizes Sami and her are at a stalemate. Sami realizes her secrets can't come out either even despite all the deaths since that would prove those leftover that are alive and well right about her.
    -Lexie asks John and Shane if this could be a repeat again of the Captive Island plot. Celeste wonders if that is what her vision with all the shadows before they left may have meant. Both John and Shane beleive it is highly unlikely as the Dimera's would not go that route again. Lexie reminds them that there is a mysterious partner working with her family and what if that person was somehow the real mastermind behind the Salem Stalker/Melaswen plot and is also behind all this since both plots are connected. John and Shane refuse to speculate and decide to wait and see what they find out on the island.
    -Maggie and Victor talk about Mickey and Caroline, their lost loves. They both agree to stick together and help each other through everything. A strong bond between them is forged.
    -Belle confesses to Hope her feelings for Shawn and tells her how she nearly stopped Shawn and Mimi's wedding. Chelsea hears this and calls Belle a slut. Bonnie is entertained by this as she continues to drink from her flask and watch all the goings on between everyone. Hope defends Belle and says Shawn is the love of Belle's life just kike Bo was her's. That type of love is neverending and if Shawn and Bo were still alive they would no doubt find their way back to the men they love. Chelsea lashes out at Hope and says that she has lost everything and that once she gets her revenge on the Dimera's for what they did she is coming after her. Hope tells Belle she fears that girl is out of control.
    -Both Greta and Nicole separately interrogate Eric on his time away from Salem and why he chose to come back with Nicole in toll. Sami and Belle get in on it too and Eric lashes out at all of them and tells them it is not the time or place to discuss this. John agrees and urges the women to back off Eric and wait until things calm down. They all agree. Greta, Nicole, Sami, and Belle all feel uneasy about Eric's secretive behavior.
    -Sami and John argue about Marlena. She tells Shane to keep John away from her as he will only make things worse. Shane ignores her citing her history and her irrational behavior towards John. John says if he needs to give his life for Marlena he will. Anything to save her. Sami hopes that is true and privately says if wouldn't be a tragedy if it comes to that. Meanwhile, it is revealed that Sami's stalker is also on the plane. He is hiding in the cargo hold and lifts up the door to take a look at her. Sami feels as though she is being watched but things it is only because it is an ISA plane and there are cameras everywhere. This has her worried that somehow her conversation with Lexie was caught on tape. She decides not to worry-if the truth comes out most of those she loved are dead anyway. The stalker then puts the door down and ducks back in the cargo hold.
    -On Melaswen, Andre and Stefano sit and smoke cigars while listening to opera music. A Dimera employee runs in and tells Stefano a plane has shown up on radar. Stefano says, "What a unexpected but welcome surprise. I wasn't expecting more guests this quick. They may be smarted then I thought. I should learn to never underestimate John Black. I just wonder how they figured this out so quickly. No matter. Prepare for their arrival as we originally planned." The employee asks Stefano if he is sure he wants to handle it that way. He agrees and says to go ahead with the plan and then laughs, along with Andre. The employee goes into a control room and says, "It's time." The employee hits a blue button and a small missile is sent at the plane and it makes contact. Everyone on the plane is shaken up and asks what has happened. Celeste warns that the danger has begun and the pilot then alerts everyone that they have been hit by something. The screen then fades to black.

    -John, Shane, and Greta continue the search for Belle. They are soon ambushed by island guards. Greta manages to get away and John asks her to get help.
    -Eric, Nicole, Celeste, and Bonnie are still in a cave awaiting word on the others. The want to know what Celeste meant earlier about everyone being alive. Celeste says that everyone that has died-all their loves ones are alive and on thsi very island. It has happened again. No one wants to beleive it but since it happened once it could happen again, especially with the Dimeras. Bonnie's flask is empty and she wonders how she will get through all this without a drink. Nicole says she has been asking herself that same question. Eric clutches his head in pain. Nicole asks what is wrong and he says it is a mere headache-no doubt from hitting his head. Nicole is still worried about him and him being so secretive. Celeste overhears and warns Nicole that hard days lie ahead for Eric and all those that love him. Nicole asks what she means. Celeste says that Eric's secret will cause much pain for those that love him but that is all she knows. Nicole wonders what is going on and is determined to learn Eric's secret. Meanwhile, Bonnie is bored and without a drink. She is fed up and decides to go see if she can find someone on the island to give her a little something. Surely they wouldn't want to hard a poor, defenseless damsel like her. She sneaks out. Celeste, Eric, and Nicole wonder where she went. Celeste says that Bonnie is on her own journey-one that will lead her to a joyous surprise.
    -Hope is still trying to figure out how to help Chelsea. She uses water from the stream to help the fever but Chelsea is worsening. Hope prays to all her loves ones and to Bo, Shawn, and Zach to help her. She then sees a angelic vision of Zach:

    Hope: Zach!?
    Zach: Mommy! Mommy? Chelsea is sick!
    Hope : I know sweetheart but mommy doesn't know what to do.
    Zach: You have to help her mommy, You can do it!!
    Hope: Honey, I don't know what to do. Mommy is trying.
    Zach: Mommy you can do it. You can! You can!
    Hope: I wish I knew what to do but I will keep trying for you and for your daddy.
    Zach: Daddy loves you mommy and he misses you.
    Hope : I miss him too big guy but he is with you and your brother and everyone else we love now. You all all angels and you will watch down on us.
    Zach :I'm an angel mommy but daddy is with you and so is Shawn.
    Hope: No, honey, daddy and your brother are with you.
    Zach :Mommy you have to help Chelsea. She's my big sister and I love her.

    Zach begins to run away. Hope chases after him.

    Hope : Zach!! Zach don't go!! Zach!!

    Zach disappears and Hope finds a tree with some weird-looking leaves on it. She flashes back to the last time they were on Melaswen and Tony used some sort of sap to help Jennifer who was bleeding out. Hope wonders if she can find that sap and it may help Chelsea by stopping the blood. She would then just have to deal with the infection. Hope realizes that Zach visited her to remind her about the sap by leading her to the tree. She thanks Zach and says she promises to save his sister. Hope soon returns to Chelsea and extracts the sap from the branch of a special tree and gives it to Chelsea orally. She prays it will work.
    -Victor continues to try to save Maggie. He is helping the fever along with stream water but she is failing. Maggie begs Victor to just let her go to Mickey and all her loves ones but Victor won't give up. Maggie is needed on earth so she can continue to help others and brighten the lives of everyone she meets. Victor also recalls when Tony helped Jennifer by way of the sap when they were on Melaswen the last time. He tells Maggie to stay put and he will be right back. Victor soon returns and is able to extract the sap and he gives it Maggie and hopes for the best.
    -Lexie tries to break through the cave wall to get to Sami. Meanwhile, sami makes her way down the staircase and finds herself in some catacombs underground. Apparently, this is to serve as an emergency escape route for the Dimera's in case something should happen like the last time on Melaswen. She makes her way through the catacombs and still can't find a way out. It is like a maze. Meanwhile, Lexie finally gets through the same door Sami did. She finds another torch and begins to make her way through the catacombs.
    -Greta searches for help and tries to make her way back to the cave where Eric and the others are but gets lost. She finds a hatch on the ground near a rock and wonders what is is. She opens it and finds it leads into the catacombs. A curious Greta enters wondering where and to who this may take her.
    -John and Shane manage to defeat the guards on their own and now worry about Greta and hope she can make it back to the others. John decides that Shane and Him should split up in order to avoid getting caught and to cover more ground. They keep on contact by radio as they split up.
    -Greta makes her way through the catacombs and hopes she has not made a mistake. She decides to turn back now and go get John and Shane to tell them about what she found but she is lost and can't find the way she came. She realizes she must keep going and, with torch in hand, makes her through the tunnels.
    -Lexie is making her through underground too. She doesn't realize she is on camera nor do Sami and Greta. Bart sees it and tells Stefano and Andre. Stefano says leave them be-as long as they don't find the secret rooms down there with my secret files there is no harm. In fact, they will just walk into his trap and he will be reunited with his beloved daughter who he has great plans for.
    -Sami, who manages to get temporarily out of the camera's range, is frustrated as the tunnels go on and on. She bangs her hand against a wall and the door slides open to reveal a hidden room full of books, a desk, a computer, and file cabinets. Sami enters the room and the door closes. The camera doesn't notice her get in the room nor does anyone else. She walks around the room and opens the cabinet. She realizes she has found the Dimera secret files and sees there is a file on all Dimera enemies past and present-including the Brady's. She searches on the computer and learns that all the Dimera secret files are also available on the computer also. She wonders what she may find among the files and decides to check them out as the screen fades to black.

    -At the pier, the mysterious person who was stalking Shane at the courthouse is watching him again. Shane feels himself being watched but thinks it's his imagination. Kim then shows up and wheels over. Bo asks what she is doing there. Kim explains that Shane called her. She is so relieved about Roman. Hope says they all are. Kim explains that she heard from Shane that Roman is a mess. She is so worried about him. Abe then turns around and notices Marlena is gone. Hope says that means Marlena went after Roman. Bo worries as that may cause even more problems.

    Meanwhile, Roman is making his way down the west side of the pier when Marlena races up in front of him, saying there is more then one way to get around the pier. Roman tells Marlena to go home and to leave him along, like he said. Marlena says she knows better. He is a mess and she begs him to come home with her so they can talk. They need each other to get through this. Roman shakes his head and says she doesn't need him. No one does. He's a failure to all of them and doesn't deserve their love.

    -At the Dimera mansion, Cassie arrives home from a day of shopping and tells Stefano she is glad that she was able to make it home in time for dinner. He laughs and asks how much she spent. She says enough. Stefano admits he is surprised she didn't go and see Marlena. She is her mother, afterall. Cassie says she feels like she isn't as they been apart so much, especially with her illness. Cassie adds that Marlena is going through alot and that she, personally, doesn't think she fits in with that side. She loves the Dimera life, even if she isn't a blood Dimera.

    Stefano chuckles and says she has proven herself to have the makings of a great Dimera. Cassie asks if that means she is going to be by his side in all of his plans for his enemies. Stefano smiles and tells Cassie she has much to learn. Cassie pledges her loyalty to Stefano and says she will do anything for him. She knows what life is like as a Brady. That was never her and being good never suited her or got her anywhere. She wants a life of prestige and greatness. She wants to be the person he can count on. Stefano seems pleased and admits those words warn his heart.

    Stefano foresees a great future for Cassie but informs her that she has many tests to pass before he can be sure that she has what it takes to be involved actively in his plans. He needs someone to leave control of the empire to and he is not opposed to giving it to a woman. Cassie asks if he would consider her if she proves herself. Stefano nods and says he would for sure. He gently stokes Cassie's cheek and tells her he thinks she has what it takes and that she will succeed. All she needs to do is confirm it to him by showing him. Cassie vows that she will as she embraces her grandfather, who smiles proudly.

    -At the pier, Tony arrives to meet Lexie, telling her he got her call. They embrace as Tony remarks how it feels nice to hold her again and how this will be the first time in a long time that they have sat and talked. He tells Lexie he wants to have a fresh start. Lexie says she wants to as well but needs his help in doing that. She asks him to not share any of what she is about to tell him. He agrees. Lexie fills Tony in on catching Abe and Celeste kissing on the ship and all that happened in his absence, including how Stefano hired Tek to seduce her away from Abe and proceeded to expose her on the island last summer. He wanted her to lose Abe. She also explains to him how Stefano used her desire to fight for Theo to mold her into the perfect Dimera.

    Tony: That's what Stefano does. He tried to do it to me but realized he couldn't. That is where Andre came in.
    Lexie: He told me he made sure the judge would rule in our favor but he did nothing, knowing full well we would lose and I would have to depend even more on him to help me get my son. All he wanted was me to be another one of his soldiers, all so he can get his revenge on his enemies.
    Tony: Sadly, yes. It's good that you have realized this now, Alexandra. I know you gave him another chance but I hope you realize now what he is truly about.
    Lexie: I do. The problem is that it wasn't just him that betrayed me. All the people I thought were my friends turned on me. Abe and my mother didn't even side with me. Of course, I was drifting towards father and my Dimera heritage and Abe was still upset over Tek.
    Tony: Alexandra, it seems to me so many of them turned on you because you weren't yourself. You were allowing father to mold you and make him into what he wants, not what you truly are.
    Lexie: I just don't know what to do now. I can't even see Theo. I was supposed to see him yesterday but I am such a mess. I just don't want him to see me like this. I don't know what to do or how to live. Stefano betrayed me and so many others did as well. Your the only one that understands this feeling, Tony.
    Tony: All too well. My advice to you, Alexandra, is to do what is best for you. You know...this brings to mind an interesting thought. I'm not a Dimera by blood but I still maintain a desire to improve the family image. I want to make the Dimera name one that is not associated with evil. I want to be proud of it and want future Dimera's to be too. That is something I have desired for many years. I can't do it alone and I have been wondering who could help me and I think you are perfect.
    Lexie: Me?
    Tony: Your a Dimera by blood. Alexandra, if you and I partner together we can change the course of our family. We can make this family one of honor, strength, and good will. One that we can both be proud of. You can get to Stefano. You seem to have a way with him. You can make yourself appear to be on his side and, in reality, you and I can work together on ending the reign of terror associated with this family so we can rebuild it and it's image. What do you say?
    Lexie: Father is too smart, Tony. He will catch on and then what? He will release an onslaught of evil the likes of which none of us have seen.
    Tony: You can do it, Alexandra. I will help you along the way. All you need to do is present yourself and act like you did in the past year with him. Make yourself the perfect daughter to him and strive to please him. You know how...
    Lexie: Yes. I do. You really think this is something that could work?
    Tony: Yes and, if you think about it, it could help you get back into the good graces of so many loved ones that lost their faith in you. You can prove yourself, Alexandra. Together, we can remake the Dimera family image and bring forth a new era. One that won't cast a pall on all that currently stands against it. (holds out his hand) Are you with me?

    Lexie looks at Tony's hand and, after a moment of hesitation, takes it and they shake.

    Lexie: Ok. This seems right. This seems like what is right for me right now. If you really think we can make this family better for the present and the future, then I am with you. Let's do this.

    A pleased Tony smiles and thanks Lexie while embracing her.

    -Back at the pier, Hope mentions to Bo that he should talk to Kim. He already told Roman he forgave her so he should tell Kim the same. Bo agrees and goes over to Kim, telling her he would like to speak with her. Kim nods and they move a short distance away to talk alone. Bo tells Kim that he told Roman tonight he had forgiven him for keeping the truth about his molestation for all those years. He tells Kim he just wants to tell her he forgives her too. Life is too short and their family is in enough pain. They don't need anymore. They all need to be there for each other, now more then ever.

    He adds that he is more understanding now of the reasons for what she and Roman did. Time heals all wounds and he wants to put the past behind them all and just look to the future. Kim is pleased and tells Bo she really is sorry. Bo says he knows they both are and embraces her, saying it's time to just focus on each other and to work on getting through all this together. Kim agrees.

    Hope asks Abe if he thinks men should be sent out to find Marlena. Abe shakes his head, saying that Marlena may be able to help Roman if she finds him. Hope says that normally she would think so but Roman is starting to sound like Bo did last year when he sided with Victor, only this time it's not an undercover mission. Abe tells Hope they just need to pray that Roman comes out of this somehow.

    Shane still has the feeling he is being watched. He turns and sees the shadow of what looks like a woman running away. He slowly sneaks out so no one notices and so the person doesn't get scared off. He draws his gun and gives chase. He races down the pier a ways and doesn't see or hear anything. Just then, he hears a slight movement behind him and slowly creeps over. He lunges behind a crate and is able to grab the hand of a woman. He is shocked when he sees the face of this woman (PLAYED BY FAMKE JANSSEN). Shane asks what she is doing in Salem.

    Woman: Oh, come on, Donovan. You don't remember me? Agent Miranda Grey, your former partner in crime? It hasn't been that long. Don't tell me you forget so easily!

    A stunned Shane is speechless.

    Meanwhile, Marlena tells Roman he is not a failure and that his family loves him. She loves him. They all need him right now.

    Marlena: We all need to be together right now, not apart!! We're all hurting, Roman!! Don't make it worse!! Come home and let's just hold each other. Come home so we can all be there for each other.
    Roman: You should be recovering at the hospital. The family will need you.
    Marlena: Nevermind me. We all need you too. (grabs Roman and turns him around, grasping his face tightly) You didn't give up on me!!! You fought for me to come back!! I'm not giving up either. Never. Those words you said earlier...that wasn't you. That goes against all you believe in!! Your losing yourself!! Don't let that happen....let me give you strength to fight that urge for revenge! Let all of us give you strength. Please...please (as tears well in her eyes).
    Roman: I am sick of our family being targets. I am sick of losing people we love. Two of our children are dead!! They will be avenged!! Anyone who has ever hurt our family...I will see to it they suffer just as much as we have all been made to suffer. No more of this by the book crap...NO MORE!! THAT ROMAN IS GONE!!!
    Marlena (crying): Please...
    Roman: Go home, Marlena. Go home or wherever. Just stay away from me. I have business to tend to. I have to do this. For all of those we lost...for our loved ones...for you...for me.
    Marlena: NO!! I WON'T LET YOU!!

    A crying Marlena forcefully embraces Roman and holds him tightly in her arms.

    Marlena: It will all only lead to more pain. This isn't you!! Please!! Come home!! Don't do this!!
    Roman: I have....
    Marlena: No...we all won't let you. I won't let you!! NO!! NO!!

    Marlena then breaks down in Roman's arms as Roman's reserve breaks down as well. Roman then begins to cry as the scene pans up overheard and freezes on Roman and Marlena crying in each other's arms and fades to black.

    DECEMBER 5, 2007-EPISODE #387: HELLO AND GOODBYE


    DEVERAUX HOUSE

    Jack walks downstairs and places his luggage on the floor. He walks into the living room and goes over to kiss Abby on the forehead while Billie, who Jack called and begged to come over so he could tell her something before he goes, stands up from her seat. Alex walks into the door and everyone says hi. Alex smiles and asks Jack if he is ready to get going. Jack says he has to take care of some things and will be out at the car soon. As Alex walks out with Jack’s luggage, Jack looks at Billie and then says how sorry he is for how he acted after Elizabeth’s death. Billie just nods her head and sits down while Abby looks at her with anger.

    Jack shakes his head and turns back to Abby, telling her to be a good girl while he is away. Abby asks if he’ll be home for Christmas and Jack promises he will. He then hugs Abby while looking at Billie, who turns away from his gaze. Jack just shakes his head as he walks to the door, looks back one more time, and leaves..........

    Leaving Abby to ask what Billie thought she was doing acting like that towards her dad. Billie tells Abby that there are things she just doesn’t understand and they should just leave it at that. Billie walks to the kitchen as Abby sits back down on the couch in a huff.

    Outside, Jack gets in the car as Alex is on the phone with Alyson, saying that they will have a nice time for Christmas and the New Year once he returns. Alyson tells him that he has become very special to her so he better not go off and get himself in any trouble. Alex smiles, saying he understands, and then says he’ll see her soon. As they both say good-bye and hang up, Jack asks if his love life is going any better than his.

    Alex says what they both need to do is take it slow, get to know each other.......and not rock the boat. Jack says fair enough and Alex starts the car. Jack tells him to drive slow and Alex looks at him and simply says with a smile....

    Alex: Sure, Pop.

    As he guns the car into gear and takes off down the street.


    I.S.A. HEADQUARTERS IN ST. LOUIS, MISSOURI

    Shane, Miranda and Forrest have just walked into a huge office. Forrest asks Shane if it is his and Shane says yes......it’s one of them. But, he says, he will be based out of Salem for the foreseeable future. As all three of them sit down at a big conference table, Shane asks his secretary to bring in the files he asked for.

    After the secretary puts down the files and leaves, Miranda asks Forrest if any word has came from his brother. Forrest says that he and Lawrence have never been close....and he doesn’t see that changing anytime soon, not with every major law enforcement agency in the world looking for him. Shane agrees, saying that with all of the people they have working on this one case, no telling what may happen.

    Miranda asks if she could have a word with Shane alone for a moment. Forrest obliges and takes some of the files and goes to another conference room. Once alone, Miranda asks if Shane has heard any word from Port Charles yet. Shane says his friend, Robert Scorpio, is working on it there. He’ll get in touch with him soon. He has also put calls into his friends and contacts in Genoa City, Llanview, Santa Barbara and Los Angeles. Maybe with all that help, they will break this case. Shane sits behind his desk as Miranda then asks him.......

    Miranda: And so......what are my orders, sir?
    Shane: Well, your secondary order........is to find Lawrence Alamain. As soon as possible.
    Miranda: Ok. Good. Anything else?
    Shane: Yes. Your primary order..........
    Miranda: Yes, sir. Find the briefcase with Roman Brady’s name on it.
    Shane: And at all speed. For some reason, there are a lot of people who want that case. I don’t why Orpheus wants it......or how he got his hands on it, but find it........

    Before all hell breaks loose.

    Miranda nods her head and leaves the office. Shane then sits at his desk, presses a button on his control panel........and behind him raises up a monitor from a desk behind him. When the screen activates, it shows Forrest talking on his cell phone, with Shane saying......

    Shane: Rule Number One.......never make a private call in a spy building.

    The scene shifts to Forrest, talking to one of his men. He tells him that they need to do as ordered and watch Abby Deveraux like a hawk. And, if anything should happen to her because of his brother,......there will be hell to pay. He says his brother is a very dangerous man and they can’t leave anything to chance. He then bids the other person good-bye and, as the scene fades on Forrest.........


    SALEM POLICE STATION

    It fades back in with Lucas walking back into Abe’s office, having just made bail. Maggie then walks in behind them, with Lucas asking Maggie to give his thanks to Victor for bailing him out. Maggie tells him that to Victor, Lucas will always be another son to him. Lucas appreciates that but all three of them are startled when Will comes running into Abe’s office. He’s out of breath and Lucas ask what’s wrong. Will says that he was followed all the way from the hospital to the station.

    Abe runs out and gets his officers on the case as Lucas tells him everything will be alright. Abe walks back in and says they both will get a police escort to where ever they want to go. They look at each other and Lucas says he sees himself at one place.......right by Sami’s side. Abe calls in and orders one of his officers to take Lucas and Will to the hospital and to take Maggie home.


    KIRIAKIS MANSION

    Later that evening, when Maggie walks back through the door, she is surprised to see a red carpet leading to the dining room. It has rose petals on it and is lit by candlelight. Maggie slowly walks into the main dining room......to see Victor in a tuxedo, walking toward her. With a big smile on his face, he stops in front of her and kisses her gently, wiping the tears away with his hand.

    Maggie cleans herself up well enough to ask him what all this is for and Victor tells her to just wait. She will see. He then tells his servant that they are ready and the kitchen staff start bringing in Maggie’s favorite dishes. Maggie is shocked and asks when Victor had time to prepare all of this. He slyly says that he’s been saving his nickels and dimes and kept them all upstairs in his shoebox. Maggie laughs out loud but then Victor comes close once again. He says.......

    Victor: Well, my dear......we have been through so much. And, through all of it, I kept being reminded of one thing......how special you are to me and how much I love you.
    Maggie: Oh, Victor......
    Victor: And.........as a token of my love.........

    Victor gets down on one knee, making Maggie gasp........

    Victor: My beautiful lady, will you do me the honor.......

    Victor opens a ring box that was just given to him by Nico........

    Victor: Of becoming my bride?

    Maggie looks at Victor, looks at the ring........

    And the scene then dissolves to the...


    SALEM INN

    Tony and Anna are talking in the dining room after he convinced her to meet him. Tony asks Anna why she doesn’t want to talk about their problems but Anna turns away to hide the tears she is shedding. She tells Tony that he apparently has forgotten what he put her through when her and Renee were fighting for his affections. Tony says he is a different man now and, besides, that was almost 30 years ago.

    Anna says to her, it feels like yesterday, and she doesn’t know if she can see him in a different light. Tony says that is ridiculous and Anna says she isn’t sure if he’ll disappear in the fog on the pier again and she’ll end up being alone. Tony wants to know who put these ideas in her head but Anna grabs her purse, gets up, and quickly walks past Tony.

    He throws his napkin down on the dining room table and goes after her.......but stops at the door. He will give her the space she needs........for now. But, soon, he will get some answers......

    And find out who is poisoning Anna’s mind against him.


    ORPHEUS SECRET PALATIAL HOME(on the outskirts of Salem)

    Orpheus sits at his desk, making plans. Nicole walks in and Orpheus greets her. He tells her to sit down as he gets up and pours her a glass of brandy. Nicole smiles as she takes it and Orpheus sits down next to her. He tells her that she is about to be involved in a plan that will catch two birds with one stone. As she sips her brandy, Nicole asks what it could be.

    Orpheus says the plan involves two people..........Anna Fredericks DiMera..........and Roman Brady. When Nicole asks why Anna, he says she stuck her nose in where it didn’t belong. For that.......she has to pay. He tells her that one of his men will be taking her to a secluded place and she is to wait for his phone call. Nicole says ok but then asks what would happen if she ran to the cops. Orpheus smiles and answers her, saying.....

    Orpheus: My dear.........if you did that, there won’t be enough left of you to spread on a Ritz cracker. Ok?
    Nicole: You got it, boss.

    Nicole quickly gets up and, after one of Orpheus’ men helps her on with her coat, they both leave. Orpheus goes and sits back at his desk and the scene shifts from a evilly smiling Orpheus to the....


    HORTON HOUSE

    Doug has just walked into the living room. He compliments Alice on how well the new door looks. Alice thanks him and then tells him it’s been reinforced. A bull couldn’t get in there now. Doug then grows somber and says he would like for Alice to do him a favor. When she asks what it is, Doug says that he would like her to give Julie a letter he wrote her. Alice says he can do that himself and Doug says not with that kind of letter.

    When Alice asks what it is, Doug says.......that he is leaving Salem and just wanted to say goodbye to her. Alice grows silent and Doug says it’s for the best. He looks at Alice, walks over to her, kisses her on the cheek and, as they both look at each other, he gently puts the letter in her lap. He then hugs Alice warmly, turns and leaves.

    Julie walks in several minutes later and asks Alice if she is ok. Alice is silent and just looks at Julie. Julie senses that something is wrong and asks Alice what it is. Alice looks down into her lap and, as Julie slowly walks over, Alice tells her what she dreaded hearing.....

    Alice: Julie.........Doug left Salem. And.........he left this letter, saying goodbye.

    Julie slowly reaches down and picks up the letter and Alice tells her how sorry she is. Julie stands still for a moment and, with a tear falling from her eye, slowly bends down, goes to her knees, and starts sobbing uncontrollably. Alice takes her granddaughter in her arms and rocks her back and forth, telling her..........

    Alice: It’s alright, child. Just let it all out.

    The scene then stays on Alice comforting a crying Julie.........and then slowly fades to black.

    ON THE NEXT SALEM LIVES...

    -Will walks into the hallway at Salem University Hospital and goes towards Marlena’s room. Right before he places his hand on the doorknob, Caroline and Belle see him from across the hall and call out to him. Will turns and spots them and then tentatively walks over to them. He tells both of them that Lucas has just about given up. He hardly talks to him, he doesn’t eat, and feels that without Sami life just isn’t worth living for him anymore.

    Caroline steps up slowly and hugs Will, looking at him in the eyes and telling him that Lucas will be fine. He just has to once again find the reason to go on and she feels that reason is him. Belle agrees, saying that her mother went through the very same thing almost twenty five years ago with her father and she found the will to go on, even though she thought she had lost the love of her life.

    Will agrees with them both but that is the reason why he came to see Marlena. He knows about what happened when Roman disappeared and wanted to find out from her how she dealt with it and finally moved on. Caroline and Belle look at each other and then Caroline speaks, saying that she doesn’t feel that it is a good time to ask her such questions. Will shakes his head and Belle suggests that he speak with Marlena’s doctor. Will agrees with this.

    As the three of them start to walk off and find Barbara, a nurse comes running from Marlena’s room and past the small group. She runs to the security station and hits the alarm and, when the group goes up to the nurse, she tells them that Marlena is gone. The nurse runs up to a security guard and fills him in as Caroline, Belle, and Will look on in disbelief.

    -Maggie walks up to Lucas' apartment and starts knocking on the door. She calls out to Lucas and gets no response. She then starts knocking harder and starts demanding that Lucas answer the door. She quiets down for a few seconds and then hears a slam inside the apartment. Inside, Lucas walks slowly to the door, looking disheveled. He hasn’t slept since Sami’s death and seems to be holding a wine bottle in his hand.

    Lucas tells Maggie to go away. Maggie refuses, saying that he needs the support of his family. Lucas tells her that the only person who mattered to him is gone, therefore he has no other family. Maggie is silent, pained by how far Lucas has fallen. She says to Lucas, in a loving tone, that she is there for him when he needs her. Lucas responds, saying that all that matters is that he is left alone....

    With his Sami. Lucas looks straight ahead and sees, in a drunken haze, a beautiful vision of Sami, smiling at him, and surrounded by bright light. All he can keep repeating is....

    Lucas: My Sami. My precious Sami.

    Maggie places her hand on the door and then turns. She starts to cry as she walks away, leaving a destroyed Lucas all by himself.......with his vision of Sami.

    -At the pier, Bo walks down the steps and looks out into the river. After a few moments, he gets a phone call from a very important man, telling him......

    Man: He’s on the pier right now.
    Bo: Good, good. Excellent work, as usual.
    Man: Yeah, well, didn’t have much to do. Just sitting at home watching Star Trek: Deep Space Nine.
    Bo: Man, you love that show.
    Man: Sure do. So.......what are you going to say to him?
    Bo: I don’t know. Maybe him and I can get past all of this, you know?
    Man: I think so. Stop being so damn hard headed and except that people make mistakes.
    Bo: I know. (Looking to his left) He’s coming. Once again, thanks for the help, my friend. I’ll be in touch.
    Man: Solid. Later on.

    Bo hangs up and is joined by Hope and Shane. Bo remarks how Shane always seems to be around but not enough to keep his people safe. Shane says nothing and Hope scolds Bo for his words. All she wants to know is.......can he forgive his brother and Kim for keeping the secret about his past from him. Bo tells her that he doesn’t know but is willing to try. Shane says that is a good start, to which Bo agrees with him. Bo hopes Shane can understand where his remarks came from and Shane says he does. He would feel the same way if the situation was reversed. Shane walks over to Bo and both men shake hands, promising to try and put the past behind them.

    At that moment, a depressed and disheveled Roman walks from out of the shadows. All three people look at him in shock, surprised at how far Roman has fallen. Bo walks over to his brother and looks at him, telling him....

    Bo: Man, what is going on? You alright?
    Roman: What do you think? How happy go lucky were you after Zack died?
    Bo: About the same as you.
    Roman: Well, then. You’ve answered your own question.
    Bo: Look. All I want to do is put everything behind us and move on from here. You need your family, Roman.
    Roman: What family? (Leaning into Bo) You know........you have been right, all this time.
    Bo: About what?

    Hope and Shane look on in sadness at this once proud man and don’t even realize that another person is also watching what is taking place.......

    Roman: You have told me for years that the law won’t stop people like Orpheus and Stefano because they don’t follow the rules. Eric and Sami were kidnapped by Stefano when they were born........and I didn’t listen. I had my face changed and my memory wiped clean........still didn’t listen. Orpheus blew up my house, Stefano held Marlena for all those years, I was framed for murder, and then.......I had my life stolen from me for 16 years.........and, I still didn’t listen.

    Bo sadly looks at this broken man as Roman continues........

    Roman: Well, I think I’ll listen now. My two babies.........(Starts to cry)........are dead. Gone. And I got them killed. If I just would have aimed for his head instead of his chest, Orpheus would be out of our lives and we would be safe.

    Woman: So, you now feel that killing people will stop all of this pain?

    Everyone turns and looks, only to see Marlena walk out of the fog and shadows and towards Roman, saying to him........

    Marlena: You can’t become that man. You can’t become so cold and callous that you don’t give a damn about life. Even for someone as evil as Orpheus.

    She walks right up to him and all Roman can do is look at her with sadness and shame. He tries to turn away but Marlena grabs his arm. He can’t even face her as tears run down his cheeks but Marlena, wiping tears from her face and showing that trademark strength, tells Roman......

    Marlena: You are a much better man than they are. The Stefanos, Orpheuses and Victors of this world don’t hold a candle to you. Your compassion for people and belief in the law is why I fell in love with you all those years ago and it’s why I stand by your side now, even as you try and push me away.

    Roman still doesn’t look at her but does respond, saying......

    Roman: Victor is right, as far as I’m concerned. And eye for an eye. I have never doubted your love for me but it won’t stop me from doing what I have to do.

    The group look at each other as Bo steps forward and stands by Marlena as Roman finally turns and faces them all, saying.......

    Roman: No more doing the good deed. To hell with that. And.......to hell with the law. Me following the law has gotten too many people hurt.......and killed. And, I promise you.....

    Roman stands upright and gets the look of the devil himself in his eyes.......

    Roman: I will NEVER, EVER.........make that mistake again.

    Marlena looks at Roman and grabs his shirt, saying.....

    Marlena: If you feel that way, then you truly are lost. Don’t do this. Please. I’m begging you, my love. Don’t become what you hate.
    Roman: I DON’T HAVE A CHOICE!!!!!!

    Roman scares Marlena and Bo, Hope, and Shane look on in shock........

    Roman: Just stay away from me, ok? I don’t want any of you involved. These [!@#$%^&*] bastards want a war, so.......

    That’s EXACTLY what I’ll give them!!!!

    Roman walks away and into the night as Marlena starts after him. Bo stops her, saying.....

    Bo: Don’t worry. I have a trusted friend on this. He’ll be safe.

    Marlena turns and looks at Bo, saying.........

    Marlena: I pray that someone can save Roman from himself........before he destroys everything.

    Marlena hugs Bo as Hope walks over and places her hand on Bo’s shoulder. They look at each other as Shane makes a private phone call, as the scene pans up............

    And slowly fades to black.

    -Lucas worries about Carrie being out in the jungle. Alice, Mickey, Doug, Julie, Caroline, Shawn Sr, and Kate reassure them that it will be fine. They are shocked when Roman and Austin return empty handed. Roman explains how the guards found them and brought them back. Lucas is worried about the baby. Austin nearly spills the beans about his tryst with Carrie and how her baby could be his.
    -Shawn and Mimi discuss Philip. They assume he is on the island too but have yet to see him. Kate overhears and she beleives he is on the island but is being held hostage. He may be with Cassie. Shawn admits he is stunned that whoever is behind this would even go to such lengths as bring Cassie there too. Mimi is reminded of Rex and thinks about him. Bo, Abe and Billie tell Kate that they will find Philip. Roman reassures her as well. Bo thinks about Hope and is worried about her. Jennifer and Billie assure him that Hope is fine. Shawn lashes out at Bo and claims his father doesn't give a damn and has shown it by supporting Chelsea for months. Bo says they need to put their differences aside and fight to get off the island. They will work through this when they get home. Shawn walks away in rage as Billie and Jennifer remind Bo that he is just protecting his mother and that once she forgives him he will too.
    -Frankie and Jack find it ironic how they all ended up beleived dead on an island like he was. Frankie tells Jack that he will keep his promise and step aside to let him be with Jennifer. Abby overhears and thanks Frankie. Jack doesn't think it is that easy as Jennifer fell in love with Frankie. Jennifer overhears and agrees saying she loves both of them but Jack is her husband. Abby is happy her mother has chosen Jack and leaves to talk to Max. When Abby leaves, Jennifer tells both Frankie and Jack that she is confused and still doesn't know who to be with.
    -Caroline leaves Shawn Sr's side and goes to get a drink. She sees a bottle of Chardonay and speaks of a special night that should have never happened. She tells herself that no one can ever know the truth and vows to make sure no one does. Shawn Sr asks her if something is wrong. She lies and says no and they go over to the others.
    -Max and Abby talk about everything going on. Abby tells Max that her mother has chosen her father. Max tells Abby not to count Frankie out yet. There is obvious tension but Max tells Abby they should just not talk about it and let Jack, Jennifer, and Frankie get through it. Abby tells Max she would have never made it through Josh's death and all this without him. She reminds Max that he saved her life back at the wedding when the car her dad was driving hit her. Max says it was nothing but Abby thanks him and hugs him saying he is a great guy and that Chelsea didn't know how good she had it. They wonder what is going on with Chelsea back at home.
    -Hope tries to help Chelsea. She has torn a piece of her jacket to use as wash cloth and is dipping the cloth in a small stream to try to cool Chelsea's fever. She starts to say that the Bensons and her mom and dad are calling to her from heaven. Hope tells her not to give up. Chelsea again says she has nothing to live for. She has lost everything-her adoptive parents, her real parents, a good part of her real family, Abby, Max, her virginity-she has nothing to live for. Hope asks her what she means by virginity-she beleived that Chelsea had not slept with anyone. Chelsea then admits she was raped and says that she watched Abby's boyfriend, Josh, got killed when they accidentally interupted a drug operation. She then begins to feel pains in her leg and passes out. Hope begs her to wake up. While unconscious. Chelsea has a dream about the night of Josh's death and her rape and begins to cry out in her sleep for help and for her parents. Hope holds her and says she is here. Chelsea's eyes open and she beleives Hope is Billie and she smiles and says "mom." She apologizes for all the horrible things she did and says she is happy she got her miracle and her mother has come back to her. Hope begins to cry and thinks about Zach. She realizes maybe she was wrong about Chelsea and that all she is is a girl wanting to be loved and who has lost so much. Hope holds her and rocks her back and forth.
    -Victor tries to help Maggie who is feverish. The cut on her arm is starting to appear infected and she is still losing blood. Victor begs her to hold on. Maggie dreams about Mickey calling to her in heaven with Tom, Alice, and all her deceased loved ones. Victor begs her to come back. Maggie wakes up but is delusional and belives Victor is Mickey. She reaches out and kisses him. Victor is stunned and so is Maggie when she realizes Victor is not Mickey. She apologizes and asks Victor what is wrong with her. Victor tells her that her cut is infected and she is losing blood. Maggie asks if Victor thinks she is dying. Victor looks at her and vows to save her-he will not let her die that easy. Maggie thanks him as Victor begs her to fight this and tries to figure out what he can do.
    -Sami and Lexie are still in the cave. They discuss the past and their blackmail of each other. Lexie recites all the sins of Sami's past and Sami does the same to Lexie. Lexie says she has always been a hateful bitch and always will be. Sami says the same about her:

    Sami: Well, at least I am not an adultress.
    Lexie: I make mistakes Sami that I am not proud of but I own up to them and grow from them. All you do is repeat them over and over again.
    Sami: I can't help it, Ok.
    Lexie: Aww, here comes the poor Sami routine. Cry me a river.
    Sami: Lexie I have been through hell. I didn't have my parents growing up and was raised by John.
    Lexie: You were lucky Sami. John is a wonderful father and you know that he loves you and Eric.
    Sami: Yeah and I loved him too until I caught him and my mother getting it on behind my father's back.
    Lexie: Sami, people make mistakes. Your mother and John share a great love.
    Sami: Yeah, look where it has gotten her. Kidnapped, brainwashed-the list goes on. Now she snapped and it's all because of him.
    Lexie: Do you listen to yourself? How is this John's fault? If anything, it is my family's for putting her through hell.
    Sami: Well, your right Lexie. You keep saying how hateful I am but, if you think about it, your family made me who I am. If it weren't for your father keeping my mother and father away, I would have never grew up without my parents. John would have never fell in love with my mom and I would have never had bulimia. Everything stems from that Lexie. I honestly think people forget the hell I have been through. Rape, my eating disorder, everything with my parents and John, countless wedding disasters that were my fault but still horrible, losing my son for years, nearly dying for a crime I did not commit-I am surprised I am not in the cuckoo's nest by now.
    Lexie: Quit making excuses Sami and just take responsibility for your actions.
    Sami: Yes Lexie the lies and deceit are my fault but the only reason I turned to them was because I had lost so much in my life when I was a good little girl. I was always trying to be good but Carrie always got the attention. Everything I did never lived up to her. I never even had Eric with me to get me through my rape and eating disorder. My brother was the one person who acted like he gave a damn (as she tearfully confesses) and he was out of my life for years while I was in hell. Carrie had Austin and my parents put her on a pedestal and they still do just like everyone does to Belle too. I make mistakes but it was everyone else who made me this way. Let me ask you Lexie-if Theo was older and he had caught you with Tek and then had been through things like I have-how do you think he would turn out?

    Lexie then has a dream of Theo turning into a rage-driven, evil young man after catching his mother cheating on Abe.

    Lexie: It doesn't matter Sami-Abe is gone and I am certain of that even with an empty casket.
    Sami: I am just trying to get you to understand Lexie. I know I have screwed up alot but I can't help it. My life has been nothing but one bad thing after the other and, even when I am good, I lose everything. I was good when I was with Lucas and Kate framed me and I was left alone to deal with it. No one beleived me and the great John Black even turned his back on me, as did Princess Belle. Do you see what I have to deal with?

    Lexie looks at Sami as tears well up in her eyes.

    Lexie: I understand.
    Sami: What?
    Lexie: I guess so much has happened between you and me with Brandon, Tek, and everything else that I just let my hatred of you overcome compassion for another human being. I guess hearing everything you have been through laid out helps me understand and then just thinking about what would have happened if Theo was older and had found out something like that. I can see why you went down this path Sami and why it has been so hard for you change. My family really is to blame. They started a chain of events that made yoir life spin out of control.
    Sami: Are you joking? You really understand. I mean, you are on my side with this.
    Lexie: You do need to take on most of the responsibility Sami because you have destroyed lives but I guess I understand your motivation for doing some of the things you do and for continuing to do them. Have you ever sat down with your family and told them this?
    Sami: I have doen everything but spell it out. They always say I am wrong or overreacting or something. Don't you remember my long speech at Lucas and my wedding about this? They may love me but their actions don't show it like they do for Carrie and Belle. I mean, look, when my mother had amnesia she never even looked at me or paid any attention to me. She did for Belle.
    Lexie: Well, why didn't you just approach her?
    Sami: Because she had amnesia. The last thing I wanted to do was just call or show up and frighten her by being this stranger up in her face calling her "mom." Things like that-that is why I have never been able to become the person everyone wants me to be and, just when I succeeded because of Lucas, Kate set things in motion and everyone just abandoned me and I was back at it again.

    Sami turns away in tears.

    Sami: Sometimes I cry at night and wonder when I will ever have my dream come true. When will I have the dream I had as a little girl where I sat at the table with my family and we were all happy? I never got to have the happy life kids have growing up. I came back to Salem and went through hell while other girls my age were meeting boys and taking them home to mom and dad. All I want is a man to love me and for my family to be happy but that is nothing more then a pipe dream. My family is a mess and I will end up alone because God knows my secret will come out even if you don't tell. God, my life is such a joke!! (Sami sits down and cries) When am I finally going to get happiness? When are people ever going to understand me and love me? (continues to cry)
    Lexie: (walks over and sits down and embraces her) I understand Sami. Finally, I understand. I just think I needed to listen and let the hate and ill feelings go.
    Sami: (looking at her) You really mean this?
    Lexie: Yes, I do. It took me awhile and I get it. It's just too bad others haven't. Maybe someone could have helped you.
    Sami: Well it is too late for that. My life is already screwed up.
    Lexie: It is never too late. Things can still change.
    Sami: Yeah right. How?
    Lexie: Maybe I can help. If I can just see the side of you I just saw, then maybe others can too. If they just listen like you forced me to just do, maybe things will change. Maybe they will understand. After all, a few minutes ago I hated you and now.
    Sami: Now what?
    Lexie: Now I see what you want people to see and I understand.

    Sami gets up and walks off.

    Sami: I don't understand what you think can be done.

    Sami then leans on a the cave wall and fall through a door of some kind. The door then closes behind the cave wall. Lexie runs over.

    Lexie: Sami! Sami!

    Sami is on the other side of the wall and is banging on the wall to try to get out. It doesn't budge and she looks around and sees a staircase in front of her. She grabs a lighted torch and makes her way down to see if she can find a way out as the screen fades to black.

    -Cassie is wheeled into the ER after the fall she took. Dr. Glancy rushes in behind her as nurses try to stabilize her. Abby, Chelsea & Max wait outside the ER room and observe everything through the window. Abby turns her wheelchair around and rolls away, unable to watch the medical staff work on an unconscious Cassie. Max and Chelsea try to piece together the events that led up to the incident. Max then hopes and prays that the baby is ok. Chelsea tries her best not to smile, knowing that even though she hates Cassie there is an innocent life at stake. Abby feels nothing but guilt at this point.

    Chelsea then starts worrying how, if Cassie regains consciousness, will she work this to curry favor with Max? As she walks up and places her hand on Max’s shoulder, he observes the medical crew still working to save Cassie’s life and the life of her baby. Cassie slowly regains consciousness and then starts calling out for Max. Dr. Glancy looks out at him and signals him to come into the ER room. Max slowly walks into the room and takes Cassie’s hand, asking her how this all happened. She looks up at him and gently whispers “Abby.....” before grabbing her stomach in pain and passing out once again.

    Chelsea walks back over to Abby, who worries that she will take the blame for this whole thing. Chelsea doesn’t see that. She tells Abby that, as far as she’s concerned, Cassie got exactly what’s coming to her. Abby just shakes her head, hoping that everything will be ok.

    Frankie arrives at the hospital, followed closely behind by Jack and Billie. Frankie tells him that he was in court when he got the message and feels so sorry about what has happened. Abby does as well but Billie tells her to stay out of it for the time being, even if she does mean well. She also tells Jack to stay out of it, for his own sake. All Jack is wondering, is whether Max will chose that skanky DiMera girl over his daughter. If he does, Jack swears he will make Max’s life miserable. Before Billie can respond, Jack walks over to Abby and bends down. She is trying not to cry but her father tells her that what happened was just an accident.

    He also tells her that she is her mother’s daughter and he knows she wouldn’t hurt anyone on purpose. Besides, the devil is probably watching over that hell spawn, Jack says. As Abby hugs her father for comfort, Dr. Glancy walks out and looks at Max. Everyone stands and looks at the doctor as he tells Max that Cassie lost the baby. Max’s mouth drops to the floor and he slowly walks over to the wall.....and punches a hole into it. Jack has to run over and, with Billie’s help, stop Max from damaging himself. Max then calms down as Dr. Glancy looks at his hand and asks if he could see Cassie. After Dr. Glancy says his hand is ok, he grants him a brief visit.

    Meanwhile, Cassie sees Chelsea through the window and motions for her to come into the ER. Chelsea slowly walks in there and, when she gets close to Cassie, she grabs Chelsea’s arm and yanks her down towards her, telling her that she has instructions for her. She tells her to convince Abby that she is to blame for the loss of her baby and to cause Max to push her away. If she doesn’t, everyone will find out her secrets. Chelsea is torn about what to do. Can she really destroy her friendship with both Max & Abby just to keep her secrets?

    Back out in the hallway, Frankie takes Max to the side and is shocked when Max asks if Abby could have something to do with what happened. Dr. Glancy overhears their conversation and tells them that two bruises were found on Cassie’s leg. One on her toe, the other on her leg. They look like they could have been made from a wheelchair. That news makes Abby shake her head in disbelief, as everyone, especially Max, looks at her stunned, thinking that she could be responsible for what happened to his child and Cassie.

    At the Green Mountain Hospital, Eric and Nicole rush in with the newborn baby they found. Nicole asks Eric if this is the baby and miracle that they have been waiting for. Eric doesn’t know but he hopes that the baby is ok. She tells him that she never has believed in things like that before with the childhood she had, but she believes in them now. Eric tries to calm her down and bring her back down to Earth. The doctor then comes out and tells them that the baby is fine but they will keep him overnight to watch him, just to make sure he wasn’t exposed to anything.

    He tells them both that CPS and the sheriff’s department were both called and, if anything comes over the wire about the baby’s parents or relatives, he’ll let them know. As the doctor walks out, Nicole still believes that this is the chance they have been waiting for. The chance to be parents to a healthy baby. Eric stands behind her, worried that there is more to this story than meets the eye.

    -Sami stands before Lucas, begging him to forgive her for what she did. Lucas turns to Austin and tells him that he just can’t believe that he and Carrie would do this to him. He’s also sick of he and Sami being the ones who always do wrong but when they do it, everyone should understand. Austin is silent, as is Carrie. Sami grabs Lucas and tells him to lay into her as she kept the secret as well. Lucas can’t say a word to her and leaves the room in disgust. As Sami gets ready to follow him, Carrie tells her to wait, they have things to talk about.

    She then tells Sami that she heard how much she has changed and grown up from saving their father to keeping her secret for everyone’s best interest. She tells her that she knows what she forced Lexie to do but that is in the past. She is grateful that she has finally grown up and Sami cries as she bends down to hug her as Roman, Caroline & Austin look on and smile.

    Sami then runs off to find Lucas. After searching for him, she finds him on the roof. She begs for Lucas to forgive her. She tells him that this may be their last chance at happiness. She prays that he can forgive her and understand what she had to do. Lucas just stares at her in silence.

    As a nurse walks into Carrie’s room and tells everyone that Carrie needs her rest, Roman walks over to Shane and Abe. Both Abe and Roman tell Shane that he may have to pay a heavy price for keeping this from everyone. Caroline walks over and once again tells him that she can’t believe that a man she once thought of as a son would do something like that. She is very disgusted with him right now and doesn’t know if she could ever forgive him. Shane then quietly says that he realizes that he isn’t wanted there and excuses himself.

    Austin stands back and looks at everything unfolding, wondering if all of this will effect his chances with Carrie. He stands there as Kate walks over to him and hugs him gently.

    -The nurse finishes checking on Carrie as Carrie sees Alan watching from the open door. She motions for him to come in and he does, as he stands by Carrie’s bed. Carrie tells Alan that now that she has admitted everything, she feels that she is free of all the secrets that could have ruined everything. She tells him that she had to reveal everything and now that she has, she feels that it is time to be reunited with her baby. She admits how stupid she was and that she now knows that she can raise her baby without any worries at all. She should've trusted that Lucas and those she cares about could handle this and that they could work it out, for the baby's sake. She then thanks Alan for everything he’s done but says she needs him to do one more favor for her.

    She wants him to get her baby and bring him home. To her. Alan is now silent. When Carrie asks him what’s the problem, he admits that he doesn’t know where her baby is, nor does he know how to get it back. Carrie flips out, becoming hysterical at this latest revelation. She grabs a hold of him, begging him to find her baby, as the medical personnel rush in. The screen then slowly goes to black.

    On the next Salem Lives...

    Hope to Bo: Tell me. Are you coming home?
    Austin to Alan: What the hell did you say to her?
    Sami to Lucas: Please...Lucas. It can't end like this. We can't let it.
    Billie to Chelsea: Something is wrong and I want to know what it is.
    Abby to Max: Don't do this!! Please, Max. Don't!!
