    DECEMBER 4, 2007-EPISODE #386: INTERNAL ANSWERS


    UNIVERSITY HOSPITAL

    Jack catches Frankie on his way back to Greta's room and says he just came from seeing Greta. He tells Frankie that he has decided to leave Salem and go with Alex to Switzerland to help him deal with Elizabeth's belongings. Jack adds that he thinks Frankie was right and that this will give Billie the time and space she needs. Frankie nods and says he thinks that is a good idea since it seems unlikely any of them will make any headway with Billie anytime soon.

    Jack asks what Frankie means. Frankie fills Jack in on the talk he had with Billie and Jack is unsurprised, saying it looks like he is making the right decision leaving. He tells Frankie he will be back before the holidays but that he would like him to watch over his family and Billie for him while he is gone. Frankie smiles and says of course he will. That's what friends are for. The two men shake hands and embrace as Frankie's cell rings. It's Maggie, who fills him in on what is going on with Lucas. Frankie says he will be right there and tells Jack what is going on. Jack figures he better go down there and make sure Lucas's arrest is covered right by The Spectator and Billie may need him. Frankie reminds Jack to give Billie space and then says he is going to tell Greta what is up and then they can go to the station together. Jack nods as the scene shifts to...


    SALEM POLICE STATION

    Billie arrives and sees Kate. She asks her mother what is going on. Kate is shocked she is talking to her. Billie is prepared to walk away when Philip comes over and fills Billie in. Kate says she just got there herself. Philip says he was there when Lucas got arrested and adds that Patricia is out to get Lucas. Kate races over to Lucas and embraces him. Lucas pushes her away and asks why she is there. She says Maggie called her and she promises to be there for him and Will and to do whatever she can to help them get through this. Lucas shakes his head, clearly unnerved by her presence. Maggie tells Lucas she had to call her. Kate sees that Lucas clearly doesn't want her there and says she will just go get some coffee.

    Hope and Steve arrive at the station and Steve is talking to Hope about the situation with Nicole as they walk the hall. Hope tells Steve they will have to discuss this later as there are more pressing matters. Hope and Steve walk into the room to find Bo, Kayla, and Caroline with Marlena. Bo asks where they have been. Hope says that she went to the hospital to visit Sami as she heard he was there. She says she ran into Steve and they both got the message that Lucas got arrested and that they were all at the station. Bo nods and asks if that is all.

    Hope asks if her and Steve are being interrogated again. Kayla calms Bo and takes him aside, urging him not to show his hand. She says the only way they will find out anything about what is going on with Hope and Steve is by playing it like they buy what they are saying. Bo isn't so sure but Kayla urges him to try it her way for now. Bo reluctantly agrees. Hope asks what is going on. Bo tells her he is just upset because he didn't know where she was and it bothered him since she has had a habit of taking off with Steve the past few months. Hope embraces Bo and says he has nothing to worry about. There will be no more disappearing acts. She promises. Steve says the same thing. Kayla says they believe them and trust them. Bo looks at Kayla and then at Steve and Hope and nods.

    Roman arrives and asks Marlena and Belle what is going on. She fills him in and Roman tells Abe there is no way Lucas could do this. Abe is silent. Patricia says she is sick of the Brady's and Horton's getting away with breaking laws just because of who they are, citing Maggie and Julie's involvement in the fire at Chez Rouge. Julie and Maggie take offense and then Alice stands up and orders Patricia to call off her witch hunt and to do her job to see that justice is done. Patricia claims she is doing that but Alice disagrees, telling her that she is barking up the wrong tree and Lucas is innocent.

    Patricia backs off and tells Joelle to come with her as she doesn't need to be upset anymore then she is. Patricia drags Joelle off as she and Lucas lock eyes before she leaves the room. Victor arrives and embraces Maggie. Maggie fills him in on what is going on. Abe says it's likely that Lucas will make bail as they have hardly any evidence yet until they do DNA testing and other forensics testing, which may not be done for a day or so since Joelle has not been checked out for that yet. Victor and Philip both offer to do what they can with the Kiriakis name to help Lucas. Lucas thanks them. Frankie and Jack arrive and are updated on what is happening. Frankie thinks the harassment suit will not help Lucas' cause. Will admits being worried about losing both his parents. Marlena and Maggie comfort him. Lucas comes over and embraces him, promising him that won't happen.

    Meanwhile, Billie goes to get coffee and meets up with Kate, who asks how she is doing. Billie asks how she thinks she is doing. Her life is a mess. Kate says she is sorry and asks who she has told. Billie says she hasn't told anyone. Kate is shocked that she hasn't at least told Jack. Billie says she can't tell Jack or anyone else and that, in Jack's case, she is too afraid to hurt him. Billie reminds Kate that a Dimera always hurts the people they love in the end, no matter if they planned to or not. Kate doesn't think Billie would do that. Billie disagrees.

    Jack walks into the hall and hides, eavesdropping on Billie and Kate's conversation. Billie tells Kate she just needs to be alone. Kate thinks that Billie is going about all this the wrong way. Billie tells her she doesn't want to see her and to just leave her alone. Kate agrees to do that...for now...but thinks Billie needs to confide in someone or this will eat her alive and Jack is that person if she truly loves him.

    Billie turns toward Kate and says that Jack and her are through. It would never last and they would only hurt each other. She mentions him going with Alex to Switzerland and admits she is happy he is going. They both need to move on. Jack hears this and silently walks off. Kate asks where this is coming from. Billie tells Kate to just back off. She doesn't want to speak with her now. Not after what has happened. Billie walks off leaving behind a saddened and worried Kate.

    Victor approaches Lucas and takes him aside as he is prepared for booking. Victor says he knows Lucas and his family are dealing with alot but he felt he should ask him something given what is going on and his relationship with Maggie. He just hopes it's not inappropriate. Lucas tells him to go ahead and that it's ok as he will hopefully be out on bail soon. Victor asks Lucas for his permission to propose to and marry Maggie. Lucas is silent for a few moments and says he doesn't care for Victor's lifestyle but, if he can promise to protect his aunt, he approves. He can see how much Victor loves her. Victor thanks him, saying that means alot to him. The men shake hands. Victor walks off.

    Marlena asks Lucas if there is anything she can do. He tells her and Roman to go to Sami. He tells them to give her his love and says she needs all the love and strength she can get. Marlena nods and embraces him and Will. She thinks Will should come with her but Will insists on staying since Abe said Lucas may be released on bail soon. Abe says there is no guarantee but Will is determined to stay. Abe promises to look out for him and says he will send him home if nothing happens or Lucas isn't released. Marlena and Lucas both thank Abe as a worried Will looks on.

    Doug walks around aimlessly and goes to get coffee. He thinks about what Maggie said earlier about how he needs to make a move. Doug then tells himself he has put this off and struggled with this long enough and it's no use stringing along Julie or himself. He looks over at Julie and sees Victor over with her and Alice, reminding him of what Julie did. Doug closes his eyes, sighs heavily, takes out his cell, and makes a call.

    Victor tells Julie and Alice he knows alot is going on but he really needs to talk to them as they are important people to Maggie . He knows it's a bit inappropriate but he wants to ask them for permission to marry Maggie as he intends to propose tonight. Life is just too short and he doesn't want to waste anymore time. Alice tells Victor that they don't necessarily endorse his lifestyle and they worry about Maggie's safety but they see that he loves her and that is all that matters. Julie embraces Victor and says he has their blessing. Victor thanks them both and says that means alot. Julie just tells Victor to make her aunt happy and to protect her. Victor promises that he will.

    Doug hangs up his phone and watches Julie with Victor and Alice. He says that it will all be over soon enough. He then looks over at Hope. She is with Bo, Steve, Kayla, Roman, Marlena and Caroline. Doug says he is sorry that he will be leaving without saying goodbye but he can't let Hope stop him. Doug says that he has to do this...for the good of Julie and himself. The scene then freezes on Doug and fades to black.

    The scene then shifts to a clip of Alyson at her comatose mother's bedside followed by a clip of Nicole picking up baby Samuel.

    A MOTHER PUSHED TO THE BRINK...

    Alyson: You baby snatching bitch!!

    Clip of Alyson punching Nicole and sending her to the ground.

    Alyson to Nicole: It's over for you. Do you hear me?!

    The scene then shifts to a clip of Steve at Hope's bedside.

    Hope to Steve: I want to do this. I want to learn about our past.

    In their apartment, both Sami and Lucas discuss Will over lunch. Sami tells Lucas that Will doesn’t fight or argue with them now, even when they are punishing him, and that’s not like him at all. Lucas tells her that they should just go ahead and give him his space. Maybe they are smothering him. When he is ready, he’ll let them know. Sami agrees. She says they tried everything else and it’s not working so they might as well give him time.

    When Will does come out of his room, Lucas stands and asks him if he still doesn’t mind changing his last name to Horton. Will doesn’t wait, telling him he really doesn’t care one way or the other. Kate is an evil bitch anyway and it makes him sick to his stomach every time he even says her last name so why not change it? All she knows is how to hurt people and be selfish. If that is her deal, whatever, Will says. He then sits and starts eating his lunch as Sami and Lucas look at each other.

    After a few moments of silence, Lucas grabs his jacket and says he’s on his way over to City Hall to get the name change underway. He kisses Sami and wishes Will a good day, to which Will just shakes his hand slightly and continues eating his lunch. They look at each other again as Lucas takes off and Sami turns to watch Will finish his lunch in silence. He then stops and wipes his mouth, wanting to ask his mother a question. Sami sits down next to him and takes his hand.

    He just wanted to know what made her move on from what happened to her. She pauses and says that after the trial and what she perceived as betrayal from Carrie, she was so filled with hate and rage that anger is what made her move on. She never really dealt with the trauma of what happened but blamed others for it, which was so wrong. She tells him that if she would have dealt with it, she wouldn’t have wasted all those years hating herself and her family and hiding her pain. Will then says he hopes he doesn’t handle it like that. Then he catches what he just said and looks at Sami, who is staring at him.

    She then places her hand on his wrist and asks him if there is something he needs to tell her. Will looks away, trying to think of someway to cover up what he doesn’t want her to know. He says there is nothing he has to say and that he just remembered he has something to finish before he forgets. A worried Sami watches as he goes back to his room.

    -Meanwhile, on the Salem Pier, Lucas bumps into Kate, who is sitting at the dock making business calls. She ends one of her calls when she sees him and stops him, apologizing for the fight. Lucas says she should. He also says that she won’t get the same from him. The respect a child should have for their mother left a long time ago when she did her umpteenth dirty rotten trick to expose Sami and hurt him and Will. Kate says that she only wants to see what type of woman Sami is.

    All Lucas sees is that Kate will hurt anyone, even her family, to prove how right she is. That is sick, he tells her. Kate says that she loves her children and will do anything for them. Lucas says all she cares about is being perfect. And with her past, she should really give that a rest. Kate is silent. Lucas walks over to her and tells her that he will always respect her for giving birth to him and raising him but, that if she can’t grow up and stop acting like a two-year-old where Sami is concerned, then she doesn’t need to come around them anymore. He reaffirms that he and Will are changing their last names, which Kate accepts if that is what they want.

    Kate then says that if she had a dollar for every time he said he was going to push her out of his life to which Lucas responds that he can show her better than he can tell her and walks off, as Kate looks on. Kate then sits back down, taking out her handkerchief and wiping tears away from eyes, as she looks out into the river in front of her, thinking of her mistakes.

    -At Steve's therapy session, he walks in with Kayla by his side. Barbara is there and greets them both, to which Steve says that he hopes this isn’t another episode of Check The Psycho. He lays down on the couch as Kayla asks the doctor how things will be set up Barbara tells her that she knows they can’t discuss that but tells her to have faith. Kayla shakes her head in agreement and walks over to Steve, kissing him on the cheek before she leaves. As she walks out, they get down to business as Barbara puts Steve under hypnosis. Once he is under, Steve once again remembers his torture at the hands of mysterious strangers, who he can’t make out. The strangers are surrounding him, getting ready to inject him with syringes....

    He starts to get violent the deeper he goes into he memories, which causes Barbara to quickly bring him back out. Once he has come out of hypnosis, he asks if he hurt her, to which she replies no. She is sensing that he is trying to go deeper but that he keeps stopping himself because subconsciously, he is scared of what he may find out. She tells him not to worry and that they are now starting to make some real progress. Steve is glad and sits up on the couch, thanking her for all her help.

    But, he says, he doesn’t know what is going to happen when he finally does remember everything.......and that is what scares him the most.

    -At the bar, Jack tells Billie that she must go and talk to James. She is reluctant at first but, after Jack tells her how important this is, she agrees, and starts walking very sexy down to where he is sitting. She tells him her name is Dena. He thinks she looks familiar but he doesn't catch on to her true identity. She can see that he is clearly drunk but that he is also despondent at the death of his family. Billie’s heart goes out to him but she also realizes that he may hold the key to what has been happening in Salem for all these months....and what may have happened to his family as well.

    James sees her and says if she wants a one night stand, he has neither the stamina nor the patience. She flirts with him, saying that she can make it worth his wile. He says that only one lady did that and now she’s dead.....thanks to him. So are his beautiful children. They never had a chance to live, he says, and now they’ll never graduate from college, have families, or grow old with the people they fell in love with.

    And it’s all his fault, he says, as he sips on his whisky, fighting back tears.

    James then gets up and walks to the bathroom, without even saying a word to Billie. She walks back over to Jack, who tells her that they must be convincing in a setting like that. That’s why the bartender is asking so many questions. After they notice people staring at them, Jack insists that they dance to prove that they belong. Billie silently agrees and they go to the dance floor and start slowly dancing to the music.

    Both of them then start looking lovingly into each other’s eyes. They can’t deny the sexual tension between each of them and can’t seem to take their gaze off of the other. Everyone seems to have vanished as Jack and Billie are locked in the moment. Just as they both move in to kiss the other, Jack realizes that his jacket is caught on Billie’s blouse and now they are trying to pry themselves apart from each other as everyone wonders what two nutcases just walked into their bar.

    -Nicole is at her and Eric's suite. While sitting at her desk, she gets a phone call from Nico, telling her that everything has been arranged. She starts at Titan tomorrow and CPS will be over to work out the adoption with anytime now as well. Nico tells her that Victor has CPS agents on his payroll. After she thanks Nico and hangs up, she excuses herself and goes out into the hallway, where she meets with the CPS agent. When the agent asks her where her husband is, Nicole tells her that she is adopting the baby alone and, if anyone has a problem with that, take it up with Victor Kiriakis. She then signs the papers and walks back into the suite, telling the CPS agent to handle the rest, leaving the CPS agent confused and very worried.

    Back in the suite, Nicole pours some Brandi and makes a toast, to making HER dream come true and to finally having the life she always dreamed of as the screen then fades out on her flashing a devilish smile.

    Frankie to Greta: I'm not sure how to answer that questions.
    James to Jack (with Billie): Something strange is going on here.
    Belle to Philip: You will never have Claire. Never.
    Kate: Oh my...

EWING (BETTER KNOWN AS ROMAN), WILL TAKE TIME OUT TO ANSWER QUESTIONS FROM READERS AND ANYONE ELSE THAT DECIDES TO CHECK OUR FAN FICTION BLOG OUT. WE WILL TAKE TURNS ANSWERING QUESTIONS EACH WEEK. THESE QUESTIONS CAN BE QUESTIONS ABOUT CASTING, WRITING, PAST STORIES, CURRENT STORIES, OR WHATEVER COMES TO MIND REALLY PERTAINING TO SALEM LIVES.     THIS WEEK'S WRITER IN THE HOT SHEET: TIM LOWERY (PHOENIXRISING05)

    1.) What is the deal with this Midwestern rapist/killer? This criminal has been mentioned quite a bit of late. Will it be part of a story coming up?

    Tim Lowery: It's already part of a story but you won't get anymore out of me then that (laughs). Just keep reading and you will see what I mean.

    2.) Are we going to see Marlena getting a visit from her sister, Samantha?

    Tim Lowery: No. There will be no ghosts. We don't do that. You will see Marlena coming to terms with Sam's death and so many of the other traumatic events in her life. There won't be any supernatural tilts to this at all.

    3.) It's great to see Sami back but when will she be escaping and coming home?

    Tim Lowery: Can't say. This isn't Spoilers R Us (laughs). All I can say is keep reading because there are some big twists in her story coming.

    4.) What is the deal with Steve and Hope? I get that they bonded while at Maison Blanche together but are they going to be a couple?

    Tim Lowery: Wait and see. We will be exploring their past in detail but, as to what will happen in the present, there are big things coming and we hope everyone will be pleased.

    5.) I love the new format. Will there be any other new features and how do you come up with those episode titles? Will they continue?

    Tim Lowery: There will be other features. We recently started using location pictures again and there may be more style changes. We are glad you like the changes thus far. It's just a way of making it easier to read. The episode names are usually reflective of an episodes theme or something big that happens in the episode. They will continue for as long as we can come up with them. We think they add a nice feel to the episodes. Very prime time-like.

    SL SHOCKER: GLORIA LORING RETURNS!!



    SALEM LIVES fans got the shock of their lives in Friday's episode when Tony learned that another Dimera child is out there...and that his ex-wife, Liz Curtis, can give him the rest of the answers he seeks. Yep, folks, that's right. Gloria Loring is returning to the role of Liz Curtis after more than a 20 year absence. The actress, who last appeared in 1986 when Liz left Salem to do a movie, will return for a limited run in October.

    "We are so happy to have her returning," enthuses EP/HW Tim Lowery. "We couldn't do this story the right way without her. She is a wonderful talent and our fans love when we use history and bring characters from the past back into the fold. It's great because she is very involved and has a big purpose in this huge story we are doing. It's not just a cameo and it may lead to more appearance by her."

    As for a possible Neil Curtis appearance, Lowery is mum. "Anything is possible and we do have some irons in the fire," says Lowery. "I can't say anymore then that. Just keep tuning in to find out." Expect Loring to first air in mid-October.

    -In the sunrise of a beautiful but, very sad day, Alice sits by the window at the foot of her bed. She glances out the window onto a perfect day as she slowly turns the pages of one of her many photo albums. She smiles as she looks at the pictures of her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren as they have grown over the years but she stares at the pictures of one very special person.

    Her late daughter, Marie.

    Her first picture, when she was four days old. Marie, sitting by her father as he writes another paper for the university. Her first day of kindergarden. Singing her first solo in the church choir. Her first date. A picture of her as class president of Salem High. Her senior pictures. Her first picture that she sent home from her first pilgrimage after she became a nun. Pictures of her with her children. Holding her grandson, Nick, after he was born.

    And then, some of Alice’s favorite pictures. Those of her and Marie. Marie watching her bake her favorite donuts. Alice helping her open her Christmas presents when she was six years old. Marie, holding a stethoscope to her mother’s chest, listening to her heart beat. Them swinging in their backyard.

    Even for a lady who has raised many children and has lived for almost a century, this is the day she was dreading. Burying another child. No parent wants to outlive their children and, for Alice, she has done it twice now. The cancer that took her daughter’s life was slow but from every letter that Marie sent her, she told her mother that she was doing well. Alice knew Marie was covering up but she also knew that it was her way. She never wanted to make her mother worried about her. Alice kept these letters to herself because Marie didn’t want the rest of the family to worry about her.

    She told Alice that she was surrounded by loved ones. She also told her that if it was her time, she was ready and at peace. Alice took great solace in these letters for she knew that her child was not suffering. Marie also insisted that Alice not come and see her. Marie knew that Alice was not as strong as she thought she was and didn’t want her appearance to affect her health. Still, it was a devastating shock when she received word of her death and Alice still wishes she was there......

    At her daughter’s side, as she was called home.

    As Alice closes the book on Marie’s life and times, someone knocks on her door. As she looks to see who it is, the door opens to reveal her granddaughter, Hope. Hope smiles slightly as she brings her grandmother some tea. She sits it down on her end table and, as she pours it, asks her...

    Hope: Are you ok, Gran? You haven’t said much since the news came.
    Alice: Oh, I’m alright, dear. I just........miss my baby. That’s all.
    Hope: I know. The hardest thing to ever do is bury one’s child.
    Alice: And I know that you realize that, dear. But, she is at peace now. That is what is important.

    Hope looks and sees that she forgot the sugar for the tea. She tells Alice.....


    Hope: I don’t know where my mind is today. I know you like sugar in your tea.
    Alice: That’s alright, Hope. Take your time. No need to rush through anything today.
    Hope: Well, still. This is how you like it. And you should have anything you want. Especially today.

    Hope gets up to walk to the door and then stops. Alice looks up at her and wonders what she is doing. Hope turns back around and looks at Alice and then says.....

    Hope: It’s fine. You can bring in the sugar now.

    Hope watches Alice as she sees her expression change. A person walks through the door holding her sugar. This person walks over to her, bends down, and places the sugar on her tray. Alice lifts her right hand and places it gently on this person’s cheek. She smiles and cries as the person says to her.....

    Person: Hello, Grandma.
    Alice: Welcome home, Nick.

    Her great-grandson, Nick Fallon, leans forward and hugs her deeply. She rocks him back and forth as the loving embrace continues. Hope wipes her eyes as she tells Alice...

    Hope: He got in last night and slept in Marie’s bedroom. He didn’t want to disturb you.
    Alice: Well. He should have. How have you been doing, son?
    Nick: I’m fine. (Pausing) I just....miss her so much. She was one cool cat.
    Alice: And she loved you so very much. I still have the picture of her holding you after you were born. She was so proud.
    Nick: I was proud of her.

    Nick stands up and tells Hope that he will sit with Alice for awhile. Hope agrees and leaves them both to spend some precious time together.

    Nick sits on the bed next to Alice and tells her...

    Nick: It’s really hard waking up in the morning and not feeling her in my life right now. I know she’ll always be there but.....
    Alice: She is, son. Your grandmother believed, if for nothing else, that the afterlife is where we are closest with one another. Remember that. She is now but a loving thought away.
    Nick: I know, Grandma. (Looking at Alice) How do you get used to the people that you love not being there anymore?
    Alice: (Taking Nick’s hand) You never get used to it. You just look forward......to seeing them again. And cherish the memories that you have of them. Ok?
    Nick: (Voice shaking) Yes ma’am.

    Nick then gently rests his head on Alice’s shoulder and cries softly. Alice pats his hand and hums to him, the very same way she used to when he was a baby boy. She slowly rocks back and forth and lovingly comforts Nick as he thinks about his grandmother.

    An hour and a half later, guests are beginning to arrive for Marie’s funeral. Hope walks downstairs and rounds the staircase, walking towards the kitchen. She is stopped, though, when a voice from behind her says just two simple words.....

    Person: Hello, cousin.

    Hope turns in her tracks to see the face of her beautiful cousin, Melissa. They both break down crying as they run into each other’s arms and embrace. They then pull back and look at each other, with Melissa saying the very obvious thought they both were thinking.....

    Melissa: Why do we only seem to see each other when someone has passed?
    Hope: I don’t know. (Wiping her tears) We really need to change that.
    Melissa: Not with everything we have been reading about. By the way, how is that handsome husband of yours?

    Hope looks away and grows quiet.

    Melissa: Oh, Hope, no. What has happened?
    Hope: I don’t know, couz. He has turned away from me. Something has really gotten to him and he has shut me out. I don’t know how to reach him.
    Melissa: Well, you know him better than anyone. He’ll find his way back to you, in time. He always has. Have faith in that, Hope.
    Hope: I have to, Melissa. There isn’t much left to have faith in. I”m trying to find some now.....just to get through today.

    The cousins embrace and walk back to the kitchen and are greeted by Julie and Maggie, as two more people watch them leave. These two turn and look at each other and then walk into the living room. They hold hands and smile slightly as one of them says to the other......

    Laura Horton: First Mickey and Jennifer, then Marie. How much can Alice take?
    Mike Horton: I don’t know, Ma. I just wish this cloud that is hanging over our family would lift. I’m tired of coming home for funerals. Mickey's gone and so is my sister and now there's Aunt Marie. I mean, what did we do to deserve this?
    Laura: This is life, son. Marie was very sick. She didn’t want anyone fussing over her. You know how headstrong she was.
    Mike: (Laughing slightly) Yeah, I sure do. I always heard from dad of the fights her and Uncle Mickey used to get into when they were young.
    Laura: That’s because Marie wouldn’t get off the phone and keep it quiet when Mickey was studying law. From what I heard, Tom and Alice had to separate those two more than once because of it.
    Mike: Well, at least now.....they are all together.
    Laura: Yes. And I hope that Marie is finally at peace. It takes times like this to remember......


    At that moment, Laura sees Abby wheeled through the door with Jack and Jack Jr.........

    Laura: What family is all about. Excuse me, please.
    Mike: Sure, Mom.

    Mike watches Laura walk over to Abby, who is near a picture of Marie when she was a teenager. Laura says hi but, when Abby turns around, she smiles slightly and wheels away. Laura knows that some of her actions have alienated her from her grandchild and has to live with the consequences, despite Abby saying she had forgiven her. Laura sees Jack mingle with some other members of the Horton family, when she overhears him say...

    Jack: Oh, Jennifer. Take care of your Aunt Marie up there. I know how much you loved her.

    That is when another voice says....

    Person: We all did. Very, very much.

    Jack turns around and smiles when he sees........

    Jack: Hello, Don.
    Don Craig: Jack, how are you doing?

    Both men shake hands.

    Jack: About as well as could be expected. And you, sir? How is life treating you abroad?
    Don: It’s satisfying. Been spending a lot of time working in Santa Barbara. Wonderful place. I fly back and forth from there and Europe.
    Jack: The Capwells are there, aren’t they?
    Don: (Pausing) Yes, Jack. They are. C.C.........is a friend of mine. Good man. One of my favorite people. As Marie was.
    Jack: A lot of history between you two, wasn’t there?
    Don: Yes. Yes there was. I still can’t believe.......(Tears welling up)........that she’s gone.

    Jack places his hand on Don’s shoulder and tells him....

    Jack: She’s at home now, Don. I really believe that this is what will get the family through. Trust in that.
    Don: From your lips to God’s Ears, Jack.

    Jack places his arm around Don’s shoulder and they both walk outside to breath in the day air. It is at this point where Nick comes downstairs and tells everyone that Alice is getting ready and that the funeral procession will start as soon as the limousines arrive, which has started happening out in front of the house. From her bedroom window, Alice can see the cars pull up and more family and friends arriving. Hope walks back into her bedroom carrying a scarf that Marie always loved and places it around her neck and shoulders.

    As Hope stands back up to leave, Alice grabs her hand tightly. She then says, through a shaking voice...

    Alice: Oh, God. How can I bury another child, Hope? I can’t do this.
    Hope: Gran, I will be right there. Your whole family has come home for two reasons.....to say goodbye to Marie and to help you through this. You are not alone. Believe me when I say that.
    Alice: Then......you will have to be my rock, dear. Just like you have been since word came. Please? I need you now, ok?
    Hope: (Stroking her hair) I’m not going anywhere, Gran. I’m right here.

    Hope kisses Alice on her cheek and then sits next to her on her bed. As she is hugging Alice, a knock comes at her bedroom door. When Alice tells the person to come in, she breaks down when she sees the faces of her two sons, Tommy and Bill.

    Hope stands up as they both look at Alice, with tears streaming down their faces. Alice slowly lifts her arms up, reaching out for her children who slowly walk over, kneel down, and embrace their mother. As they cry in her arms, just like when they were little boys, she looks down at both of them, who are now looking at her for comfort and, with Hope standing next to her uncles, crying, she tells her boys.....

    Alice: Now, you two know that your sister wouldn’t want you crying like this. She loved you two so much.
    Bill: (Standing up) Yes, ma’am. (Wiping his tears away) You’re right, as usual.
    Tommy: (Sitting next to her) She didn’t hurt much, did she?
    Alice: No, son. At the end, she was at peace. I can feel it. When any of my children are in pain or joy and happiness has filled their day, I can feel it. A gift from God, I guess. No. Your sister was the happiest she has been in her whole life. You both keep that with you. Ok?
    Bill: We will, Ma. I just......miss her so much. This house used to be full with laughter and arguing and good times.
    Alice: And it still is, Bill. I hear it every day. This house is still full. With the love of a family who has grown. Together.

    Alice reaches her hand out and takes Bill’s hand.

    Alice: And now........it is time to take Marie home. To her final resting place. I’ll need you all for that today. So (as Tommy and Bill help her stand up) Let’s be strong and show what the Hortons are made of, ok?
    Bill: Yes, ma’am.

    Bill and Tommy help Alice walk downstairs as Hope walks behind them. As they descend the stairs, other family members and friends watch the quiet strength that Alice is showing and are gaining strength from her as well. She stops at the entrance to the living room and quietly says.....


    Alice: Marie would be so humbled to see you all here. Probably as humbled as I am. Thank you so much for going the last mile with her.

    More of her family members step forward to give her hugs and kisses. People that Alice hasn’t seen in so very long but have kept in contact. One by one, each one tells her.........

    Sandy Horton: It’s so good to see you.
    Spencer Olsen: Sure is. You still going strong.
    Sarah Horton: That's Gran. It's all about that strong constitution of hers.
    Jessica Blake Fallon: As always. It is our honor to be here today......to say farewell.
    Joshua Fallon: That is the honest to God’s truth.


    Nick looks on and smiles as he stands next to Hope and Melissa. What Melissa doesn’t know is that someone else is standing behind her. And, a moment later, she hears one voice say......

    Pete Jannings: Aye there, pretty lady.

    Melissa turns around and gives Pete a big hug, thanking him for coming to this family event. Pete tells her, in front of everyone, that he knows how much Marie meant to her, and he didn’t see himself anywhere else but right there. By her side. Melissa smiles at Pete and holds his hand tightly, telling him that she will need him to get through today. Pete responds, saying.....

    Pete: Your wish is my command.

    And then he kisses her on her cheek. This makes Alice smile, as she tells everyone.....

    Alice: Well, I guess it’s time. Is everything ready?
    Bill: Yes, Mama. Marie’s hearse is here. The limousines are all out front.
    Tommy: Shall we go, Mother?
    Alice: Yes. It’s time (Her voice shaking) to take Marie home.

    Everyone watches as Tommy and Bill walk Alice out to her limousine, as everyone files out and into their respected car. Nick is the last one out and locks the door. He then takes a few steps forward and looks up at the sky, as he tells the heavens........

    Nick: Well, Grandma, it’s going to be a full house. I knew you could pack ‘em in. See you at the church.

    Nick then walks towards the limousine and gets in, as they all start up as one. The hearse then slowly pulls off and heads down the street, as the fleet passes by all of Marie’s old stomping grounds. Salem High School, the soda shop on the corner, a hamburger place that she ate at after school, and many other sites where she spent her youth. Members of the community, reading about Marie’s death, and knowing that today is her funeral, stand on the sidewalks, at the corners of streets, and come out of their stores and shops to pay their quiet, kind respects to a member of one of Salem’s best families. They take their hats off, members of the police department and veterans, some of whom worked with Marie, salute and others waive, expressing their sorrow for Alice and her family during one of Marie’s last rides.

    Nick then passes the driver a disc and asks him to play it. The driver tells him no problem and when he puts the disc in the CD player, the song that starts playing is Sweet Jane by The Cowboy Junkies . Nick knew that this was one of her favorite songs and had heard her humming it when he spent the night with her. That is why he always thought that she was so cool. An old soul, Alice called her. As the song played and as they get closer to the church, Bill looks towards a playground and sees himself with a young Marie, pushing her on a swing. A tear comes down his face as he remembers his sister then.

    At that moment, she gets off of the swing, turns around, and waves at Bill. Bill smiles and slightly waves back, hoping no one saw him. When he looks, he sees Hope looking right at him, smiling. He smiles back at her and when he turns his head back to look at the playground, Marie is gone. He breathes deeply and clutches his mother’s hand again, gaining strength from her at this time.

    As the song ends and the camera crews from the local news record the funeral procession as it arrives at the church, the scene very slowly fades to black.

    OCTOBER 3, 2007: EPISODE #342: OPEN UP


    HOSPITAL IN TUSCANY, ITALY

    Tony is by Steve's side when he wakes up. Steve holds his head and asks what happened. Tony explains that the gas in the pit knocked him unconscious and that he managed to get him and Hope out just in time. Hope then comes in and races over to Steve, embracing him and overjoyed that he is alright as Tony watches. Steve thanks Hope for everything she did. He mentions he heard her while he was out of it. Hope is shocked that he did and then changes the subject to her just being happy he made it. Tony says he is too, especially since he is responsible. Hope and Steve are confused. Tony mentions that he ordered the guard to drop them in the pit but had no idea the guard would try to gas them. He gave the guard some cash and thought he was trustworthy. Unfortunately, he was wrong.

    Hope asks why he would do that. Tony says he didn't want them getting hurt after what happened at Maison Blanche with Byron. He is concerned Stefano is on their tail and he knows that neither Stefano or his men will kill him. He doesn't know if that same courtesy applies to them. He was simply trying to protect them and knows it was extreme. He also thought him acting alone would help move things along. Steve reminds Tony that he and Hope are looking for answers too. Tony nods and says he knows but it's unlikely that the answers lie in Italy. Hope agrees and tells Tony she understands why he did what he did. Steve agrees too even though he warns Tony he will be hearing from his attorney. Hope tells Steve he doesn't need Frankie. Steve smiles and says he was kidding. Steve then asks what Tony found, if anything. Hope realizes Tony mentioned finding something but never told her.

    Tony fills Steve and Hope in on the note and birth certificate he found in the painting, as well as the fact that Liz has the answers he needs. Tony says they need to leave Italy ASAP because the guards will be on their tail soon and likely Stefano. Hope agrees, telling Steve he can leave the hospital in a few hours. Tony says they can work on tracking down Liz in Salem. Hope thinks it's time to go home as she misses JT, Bo, and the rest of her loved ones. She tells Steve that Bo and Kayla must be worried sick. Steve agrees but reminds Hope they have some unfinished business. Hope nods as Tony interjects and says he will keep to his promise to help them find what they are looking for. Hope smiles, saying they will help him too, just as they said. Tony thanks them and says he will go make the travel arrangements so they can leave.

    After Tony leaves, Hope sits down by Steve and says he gave them quit a scare.

    Steve: Sorry.
    Hope: It's...
    Steve: Wait a sec...Tony isn't here anymore so quit avoiding the issue. I know we have to go home right now but we do have to go back to Maison Blanche. We need to find out for sure about Chelsea and we need to close the damn book on our past.
    Hope: I know, Steve.
    Steve: We also need to talk. Alot has changed on this trip, Hope.
    Hope: Nothing has changed. We had some close calls, a few memory flashes...
    Steve: Oh, come on. You and I both know those memories were more then just memories. Those memories brought some feelings back. Feelings that I know I don't understand. We need to talk, Hope.
    Hope: We will soon. I just want to focus on going home to Bo and my family. We can then go from there. Now, I will be back.

    Hope gets up and leaves the room as Steve watches her, saying:

    Steve: Your in denial, Hope. We have a problem. We have a problem that needs to be talked about...before we lose ourselves and both do something we will regret.

    DEVERAUX HOUSE

    Jack and Billie are lying on the couch in each other's arms. Billie tells him she will do her best to help him keep his mind off Abby and Alex. Jack wishes her good luck. Billie explains that there is something she has been wondering about. She says it's funny how they seem to have this full-fledged relationship yet they have never really been on a real date. Jack says it's the fact that they have always been close friends. Billie agrees but says they really do need to start going out, at least for tradition's sake. Jack is ok with that and admits he could use the distraction from what is going on with Abby and the Alex business. Billie wonders what they should do. Jack thinks dinner and a movie. Billie thinks they have higher standards and are more creative then that. Jack suggests he surprise her. Billie smiles and says that sounds like a plan. She tells him he will be feeling the pressure not to disappoint. Jack says he is already. They both laugh.

    Jack tells Billie he is so grateful to have her in his life. He still misses Jennifer like crazy but having her in his life has kept him going. He never thought he had any chance at finding another woman to love him, much less tolerate him. He is thankful for all she has done. Billie says she is thankful for all he has done. Jack reminds her that is what friends are for. Billie thinks it's remarkable how their friendship turned into what they are now. Jack just hopes he doesn't hurt her. Billie tells him he could never hurt her. He just needs to believe in himself and not let his inner demons control him. She doesn't want to see him go through what he did with Jen at times with his drive to be proven worthy and so on. Jack promises he will do his best. Billie smiles and embraces him, saying they just need to face the fact that they need each other. They always did and always will. She is just happy he has always been there for her. Jack says that goes both ways. They kiss and then hold each other close on the couch.



    UNIVERSITY HOSPITAL

    Lucas is raced in on a gurney. Rich tends to him and starts issuing instructions to those assisting him. Joelle waits outside, worried about what went wrong. She recalls his drinking the alcoholic drink at the Cheatin Heart by accident and that he had two pills earlier. She then recalls putting two more pills in Lucas's coffee upon his waking up. She wonders if the combination of substances is what did it. A worried Joelle prays that Lucas pulls through or else she and her mother and son have lost their one chance at a better life. Joelle watches with great worry as Rich and the other doctors and nurses work on Lucas before a nurse walks over and closes the blinds, taking away Joelle's view and raising Joelle's concern even more as she is watched by a mysterious someone from a distance.

    The scene then shifts to...


    ORPHEUS' HIGH RISE APARTMENT

    Orpheus comes to Sami in her room and asks if she has seen the latest developments. Sami says she isn't in the mood for his games. Orpheus insists it's not a game. He turns the TV on to show Lucas being raced into the ER at University Hospital on a gurney. Sami is in shock and is horrified by what happened. She hears one of the doctors say he seems to have drugs and alcohol in his system. Sami begins to panic and thinks he is falling apart without. She hates what this is doing to the people she loves. Orpheus admits that he is glad he had someone filming this and calls it an inspired move. Sami turns around and tells him to shut up.

    Orpheus smiles and tells Sami there is nothing she can do but toss her insults around and pretend to be strong when inside she is falling apart watching all this happen. Tears stream down Sami's face as she calls Orpheus a monster and promises he will get his. He will suffer when someone finally gets the best of him and takes out his ass. Sami tells Orpheus she will be first in line to give that person a medal. Sami then tells him he will go straight to hell where he will spend eternity. Orpheus tells Sami he will see her there. Sami turns around in disgust as Orpheus laughs. Sami looks at the TV screen, hoping to see something or to hear word on Lucas.


    UNIVERSITY HOSPITAL

    Victor and Maggie walk down the 7th floor hallway. Victor thanks Maggie for coming with him to see Greta. Maggie says she loves him and wants to be there for him. She knows this is hard for him. Victor looks into ICU #3 and sees Frankie still lying by a comatose Greta. Victor is nearly overcome with emotion and then stops himself. Maggie tells him to let it out if he has to. Victor shakes his head, saying that's not what Victor Kiriakis does. Maggie appreciates his being strong but advises it might be better if he lets out all his emotions. Victor smiles and assures he is fine.

    Maggie and Victor enter the room and ask Frankie how Greta is. Frankie says there is still no change and Rich thinks if her condition stays that way they will have to send her to a place where she can get around the clock care. Victor hopes it doesn't come to that but, if it does, he will see to it she gets the very best care. Victor walks over to Greta and takes her hand, telling her he will do everything he can to bring her back to them. Just then, Greta's monitors go off. Victor looks up and sees that has flatlined. Frankie races out to get a doctor as Maggie comforts Victor, who begs Greta not to do this and to fight for her life.


    HOSPITAL IN TUSCANY, ITALY

    Hope is looking in at Steve outside his cubicle when Tony returns, saying he booked a flight back to Salem. They should be home by morning. Hope is silent as she continues to look in at Steve, who seems to be asleep. Tony asks Hope if she is ok. Hope's finally notices Tony is there and nods, saying she is grateful that they are all alright. She is happy to be going home. Tony says he understands as she probably misses her family but admits he wonders if there is another reason why she is so eager to go home. Hope asks what that means. Tony tells Hope he is aware of her past with Steve. He says he overheard alot of things over the years, especially his years in captivity. Hope asks how much he knows. Tony says only that Steve was imprisoned with Hope as someone to keep an eye on her. He was instructed to be a guard and, in return, he would be given info about his past but it seems that all changed when he first saw her.

    Hope asks what happened. Tony says all he knows is that Steve bonded with her and became her knight in shining armor in a sense. Tony adds that he was going to mention all this before but he wasn't sure it was the right time. He had a feeling that is what Steve and her were looking into on this trip and promises he will help them get whatever answers they need. Hope thanks him and then asks what he meant before when he thought she had another reason for wanting to go home. Tony says he meant that he has noticed Steve and Hope getting quite close while on this trip. He noticed it when he first showed up and met them at Maison Blanche and noticed it here in Italy, especially in the pit.

    Tony: I understand you two have always been close friends, Hope, but...
    Hope: What are you getting at?
    Tony: That looked like more then friendship, Hope. You acted as if you couldn't live without him. The way you looked at him in the pit and when I brought you two up...the way you are looking at him now and the way you embraced him earlier...
    Hope: I care about him. He's a friend. He's my brother-in-law!
    Tony: Perhaps I have overstepped my bounds. I apologize. It was none of my business.
    Hope: It's ok, Tony. I think we are all exhausted. We've been through alot. It's a wonder any of us know what we are saying. Just know that there is nothing but close friendship between me and Steve. That's it.
    Tony: Of course. Again, I'm sorry.
    Hope: Apology accepted.
    Tony: Well, I have to go make sure those guards aren't tailing us yet. I'll be back soon to get you and Steve.
    Hope: Ok.

    As Tony leaves, he looks back at Hope, who is now looking in at Steve again.

    Tony: Sometimes the past doesn't stay there, Hope. Feelings are always there. They never go away.

    Tony walks off as he sees Hope still looking in at Steve. The scene then fades to black.

    Jeremy Sumpter (Will Roberts)-Sumpter takes over the role in the middle of chaos on January 3. The role is now contract.

    Mandy Musgrave (Chelsea Brady)-The originator of the role returns in early January. "It took alot to get her to return," says Executive Producer Ned Yadroc (Corday backwards LOL). The appearance change in Chelsea will be explained on the show.

    Mystery Actor or Actress-A fan fave returns on New Year's Eve and will show up with a beloved Salemite. "Its a real shocker out of left field," says Yadroc.


    Out

    Rachel Melvin (Chelsea Brady)-The actress exits in early January. Mandy Musgrave, the role's originator, will be returning to the canvas.

    Christopher Gerse (Will Roberts)- Gerse exits after almost 3 years in the role. The character is being aged and taken over by Jeremy Sumpter.

    Some Major characters-The New Year's Eve tragedy will cause Salem to lose some beloved citizens and some minor ones as well. Expect a joint funeral in early January that will bring some fan faves home for a quick visit and one home for good.

    Please note that the role if Molly Brady-Murphy, Shawn Brady Sr's previously mentioned sister and the mother of Colin Murphy, will not be cast at this time. However, she will be cast sometime in the future. "We have something in mind for her but we just aren't ready to introduce the character onto the canvas yet. We definitely see potential in bringing her on as some of the hints dropped by the previous regimes have proved intriguing so we plan to use all that. Fans will begin to learn more about Molly and what she is all about at the funeral," says executive producer Ned Yadroc. It should also be noted that the show plans to address the absence of Colin Murphy during the special week as well.

    Days is also proud to announce that the door is being left open for many of these characters to return at a later time. However, one of these characters will stay on after the funeral and will be a recurring player in story for the forseeable future. Stay tuned to see who. All these characters will attend the funeral services and reception, which will air from August 14-18, as previously mentioned. This week will also be pivotal to all the huge stories going on and will open doors to future stories. The returning characters will all be featured, although some more then others since there will be so many. "It was very hard to get people like Jed Allen and Patsy Pease. We will be writing Patsy's condition into story and she is fine with it. We are happy to have her. Lucky for us all these actors had some time available and were able to do this. These returns will be a real treat to long time and new fans alike," enthuses Yadroc.

    Once again to sum up the event, the funeral begins on the August 14 episode of Days and the event will play out until August 18. There will also be a reception too where fans will see these guests interact with current members of the cast. As previously mentioned, one character from the guest list will be remaining after this week for an unspecified period of time but the door will be kept open for the rest of the guests to return in the future. Days has taken steps to hint at a few possible stories during this event so that story possibilities are open for these characters. YOU DON'T WANT TO MISS THIS STAR-STUDDED EVENT-IT'S ALL PART OF A AMAZING AUGUST ON DAYS OF OUR LIVES!!!!

    -At University Hospital, it's a new day in Salem as Cassie is visiting a comatose Stefano. She is begging him to fight to return to those who love him. A nurse then comes in and tells Cassie there is a phone call for her at the nurses station. Cassie tells Stefano she will be back and goes to take the call. When she reaches the nurses station and picks up the phone, she says "Hello" repeatedly with no response.

    Cassie: Hello? Is anyone...
    Voice: Hello, Cassie.
    Cassie: Who is this?

    We then see the person on the other end of the call...IT'S THE MCF!!!

    MCF (via voice changer): Never mind who I am. If you want revenge on Max Brady, Chelsea Brady, and Abby Deveraux...come to the alley on South Market Street by 9AM sharp.
    Cassie: Who is this? Why are you calling...
    MCF: Nevermind the questions. Come...or grandpa Dimera meets his maker. You have one hour to meet me at the location requested.

    The MCF then hangs up, leaving Cassie puzzled and frightened.

    -At the penthouse, Belle is dressing Claire when the doorbell rings. She answers it and is shocked to see Philip. She tells him he isn't welcome there and that she will call security. Philip tells her to calm down and just listen. He tosses some documents at her and says:

    Philip: Here you go. Papers signed. Happy?

    Belle is stunned.

    -At the Kiriakis Mansion, Nicole races up and knocks on the door feverishly. Henderson answers and Nicole tells him she must speak to Victor. Henderson says he will announce her but Nicole runs right past him and into the living room, where Victor is reading the newspaper and asks what the meaning of this is. Nicole says she needs to talk to him and that she may need his help and protection.

    -At Sami and Lucas's apartment, Sami and Lucas are preparing for Marie Horton's funeral and are waiting for Eric to arrive. Lucas knocks on Will's door and asks if he is ready. They don't want to be late. Will says he is almost ready. Lucas says ok and rejoins Sami as there is a knock on the door. It's Eric.

    Eric asks them both if they heard anything about Carrie. Sami explains that she talked to Austin and he told her that Carrie cried herself to sleep and has not woke up yet. He doesn't think they will make the funeral. Eric says that is too bad. He really hopes Austin or someone can get through to Carrie. Sami asks Eric if he has talked to Nicole at all since the incident with Carrie yesterday. Eric shakes his head. Sami notices a look of bewilderment on Eric's face and asks what is wrong. Eric explains to Sami that he feels like there is alot Nicole is holding back and that is one of the major problems in their marriage right now. Sami asks Eric if he thinks Nicole is up to something.

    -At Carrie and Austin's hotel room, Austin answers the door after hearing a knock and finds Kate at the door. Kate says she came to check on Carrie. Austin asks how she knew. Kate explains she was at Salem Place and saw the whole thing. She just didn't want to get involved or interfere. Austin smiles and sarcastically says that it's not like her to interfere. Kate says she just thinks it was too volitile a situation for her to step into. He seemed to have it under control.

    Kate asks how Carrie is doing and Austin explains that she cried herself to sleep and still hasn't awakened yet. He admits he is worried about her and doesn't know what he is going to do.

    Meanwhile, Carrie is sleeping in bed and is recalling giving up her baby to Alan and lying about it to cover it up. She then recalls holding Evan and screaming that he is her child. Carrie then wakes from her dream by jumping up and says she knows that Evan is hers. She doesn't know how but she felt it. She knows no one will beleive her and decides it's time to stop crying and acting like a victim. Carrie says she needs to do something about this...on her own. If no one will support her or beleive her, she will just prove her claims independantly.

    Outside the bedroom, Austin is showing Kate the engagement ring he bought and Kate says it's beautiful. Austin admits he isn't sure he should give it to her but Kate thinks it may help Carrie. It gives her something good to hold on to and to help take her mind off things. Austin hears Carrie coming and hides the ring. Carrie enters the room and says hi to Kate. She then tells Austin they need to talk. Kate thinks that they should be alone and admits she has to go anyway. She tells both of them to call if they need anything and bids them goodbye.

    After she leaves, Austin admits he is happy to see her calmer and moving around. Austin then asks Carrie what she wants to talk about. Carrie tells Austin it's about the baby...her baby. She says she has something to tell him.

    -Back at the penthouse, Belle asks Philip what he is up to. Philip says nothing. He had no choice. He stands to lose too much so he had to sign the papers. Belle says she is glad he did. Philip sees Claire inside and asks if he can have just one minute with her but Belle refuses, saying they need to get to Marie Horton's funeral. Philip realizes that is today and says he understands and tells Belle to give the Horton's his condolences. He reminds Belle to contact him about arranging visitation. Belle says she will do that. Philip begins to leave but then turns back towards Belle and apologizes for hurting her.

    Philip: That was a big mistake and I apologize, wholeheartedly.

    Belle is silent as Philip wishes her a good day and leaves via the elevator. Belle shuts the door behind her and wonders why he was so cooperative and civil to her. Meanwhile, in the elevator, Philip tells himself:

    Philip: You may have one this round, Belle, but I will win the war. Philip Kiriakis doesn't plan on losing...ever. All in due time...I will make sure it all falls into place. I will have Claire back...and you, Belle. We will have it all and no one will stand in the way.

    -Back at the Kiriakis Mansion, Nicole fills Victor in on what happened with Carrie at Salem Place and Kate interrogating her yesterday. Victor reveals to Nicole that Kate interrogated him yesterday too. Nicole panics and tells Victor he can't let this happen.

    Nicole: I need your word. Please!!! I can't lose everything!!!
    Victor: Oh, silence!! I fulfilled our deal. You helped me with Maggie and I agree to keep that a secret and also help you get Lucas' old job at Titan and adopt that kid of yours. I did all that. No more. You take care of the rest by yourself. I have enough problems and I don't need you always on my case about some new problem. Your crafty, Nicole. Your also quite resourcesful. Figure something out and help yourself!!
    Nicole: Do I have to remind me that if I go down you go down with me?
    Victor: Really? What do I lose? Maggie saw us "in bed" together. I am not married. People know our history. They will never beleive you over me. You have nothing, Nicole. I have all the balls in my court. You are married and if Eric somehow learns of our fake tryst for Maggie's benefit, he may misinterpret it and that will be it for you two. Hell, the fact that you went to me to help and used my power to obtain that child and that Titan job has him angry with you enough. You will lose the most here, Nicole. If you continue to harass me like this, I will tell Eric everything and that precious baby and job I helped you get, will be gone in a flash. Do you understand?
    Nicole: Yeah. Fine.
    Victor: Good. Now get out. I don't want to hear from you anymore unless it's a matter of great important to me. Not you! To me! Got it?
    Nicole: Yes.
    Victor: Henderson, please escort my ex out please.

    Henderson shows Nicole out. Outside, Nicole vows not to give up without a fight. She promises to fight Kate, Carrie, and anyone else she has to. She isn't losing her life or her dream. She will not lose her job or Evan. She will make sure of it and do whatever it takes to do so. Nicole leaves as Kate reveals herself from behind the bushes. Kate wishes she heard everything Nicole said or that she would've heard her with Victor but is confident she is close to the truth. Kate vows it's only a matter of time before she busts Nicole.

    -Back at Sami and Lucas's, Eric tells Sami and Lucas that he doesn't beleive Carrie when she says Evan is her's. That is too convenient. However, he does buy that Nicole did something for Victor in exhange for his getting her Lucas's old Titan job and Evan. Sami says she knew Nicole didn't change. It was too easy. Sami says she takes back trying to encourage him to give his marriage another chance. She wants him nowhere near Nicole. Lucas agrees, saying he knows firsthand how vindictive she can be.

    Eric says he knows about her past but she was different when they reunited and came back to Salem. He admits that they may have rushed into marriage because he was on his deathbed but he thinks they can work things out if they communicate and are honest. Sami laughs and tells him good luck with that. Lucas looks at his watch and tells Will to hurry up or they will be late.

    Meanwhile, Will is in his room on his computer surfing the net. He is searching for information on how to deal with and move on from molestation. He then wishes that he could tell someone but Alan threatened him and his family. he has to stay silent. He just is thankful to have told his Uncle Bo, who went through the same thing in the past. He hopes to get away again soon to talk to him more about how to deal with what happened to him. Lucas calls out to him again. Will says he is coming.

    Will comes out of his room as Sami and Lucas both ask if he is ok. Will says he is fine. Eric comments on his sharp he looks. Lucas then ushers everyone out, saying they need to go. Lucas and Will leave as Sami tells Eric she still has hope things will work out for mom, Carrie, him, and the whole family. Eric says he still does too and he says that they need to have hope. It's all some of them have right now. Sami smiles and they follow Lucas and Will out the apartment door, shutting it behind them.

    -Back at Carrie and Austin's room, Carrie apologizes to Austin for her behavior. She admits she just wanted her child back so much and Evan was the first child she held since her baby "died." Austin says he figured that and understands. He promises her that it will all be ok. They will get past this together. Carrie says she knows they will. He then asks her if she wants to call the Horton's or send a card to express condolences. Carrie remembers Marie Horton's funeral is today and tells Austin she feels well enough to go. She wants to support the Horton's and be there for them like they have been for her at times. Besides, Mike will be there and she wants to support him too.

    Austin asks if she is sure. Carrie says she is. She tells him to give her a few minutes to change. They may run a little late but they can still make it. Austin says ok and goes to get changed. While alone, Carrie tells herself that she is sorry she had to lie to Austin again but he nor anyone else is going to beleive her claims about Evan and she knows he is hers. She will just find the proof on her own and then she will have what she needs to get her child back and make everything right again.

    -Cassie arrives at the alley the MCF instructed her to go to. No one is around and barely a pindrop can be heard as the alley is on the seedy part of town and is isolated from the bustling city area.

    Cassie: What the hell is going on? Where is this person who called? What is this some sort of sick joke?

    Cassie continues to walk until she is grabbed from behind by the MCF!!! The MCF puts his or her hand over her mouth and puts a gun to her head, saying:

    MCF (via voice changer): Do as I say. Don't fight me. Just come along and I won't hurt a pretty little hair on your head, got it?

    The screen then freezes on Cassie's frightened face with the MCF's hand covering her mouth and then the screen fades out.

    -Cal, Katherine, Doug, Julie, Maggie, Caroline, Bo, Hope, Belle, Carrie, Austin, Sami, Lucas, Will, Kate, Eric, Jack, Billie, Frankie, Greta, Max, Shane, Abe, Lexie, Celeste, Stefano, Cassie, Victor, Philip, Tony, Anna, Kayla, Abby, Chelsea, and Forest all look on with Marlena watching backstage and Nicole watching from the back of the ballroom. Steve, Alan, James, and Ernesto are still on stage as the MCF laughs and says to Stefano:

    MCF (via voice changer): Wow...that cold stare has me shaking in my boots.
    Stefano: Don't mock me.
    MCF: Oh, come on. Why such tension?
    Stefano: You shot me!!! You left me in a coma for weeks. You led Alexandra on a wild goose chase and ambushed her in Milan. You attacked her in my own home country. You imprisoned her...you also imprisoned my son, Tony.
    MCF: Oh, come now, Stefano. You don't give a damn about Tony. He isn't even your son. He's Enrico's with Daphne. You only call him your son to suit whatever purpose you have at the time.
    Stefano: I will not have you making such ludicrous statements.
    MCF: It's the truth. You know it.
    Cassie (whispering): So, that is why he didn't seem so desperate to find Tony at first. But, that means I am not his granddaughter by blood. He seems to treat me well...
    Stefano: Tony, don't listen to this person. Whoever it is, don't worry. He or she is speaking nonsense.
    Tony: I know, father. You wouldn't lie to me. You told me years ago that you have and always will think of me as your son.
    Stefano: That won't change. I assure you.
    MCF: Touching. Cassie! One of my lovely forced assistants. (gently touches Cassie's neck)
    Stefano: Get your hands off her. You have done enough to my family. I will have your head!!
    MCF: Calm yourself. Cassie and I are good friends. Aren't we?
    Cassie: You...
    MCF: We started off rough. You see, I set her up so that her little secret came out. She had made it appear like Abigail Deveraux pushed her down the hospital stairs, thereby causing her to miscarry her baby with Max. She manipulated Max and guilted him into staying with her and turning against Abby. She even blackmailed Chelsea by using the fact that Chelsea murdered her rapists. I set Cassie up and had Max walk in on her watching the security camera footage of her fall down the hospital staircase. She had wanted Chelsea to steal it so I made it very accessible for her to steal. I tricked Chelsea into leaving Cassie's room and made sure Max walked in on Cassie watching the tape. She lost everything, making her vulnerable to doing my bidding. She wanted revenge on Max, Abby, and Chelsea so I met with her and asked her to do me a favor. One that would help me and herself. Tell them, Cassie.
    Cassie: I...
    MCF: Oh, you want me to? How giving!
    Cassie: No!!
    MCF: You see, everyone. The lovely Cassie aided my men and I in kidnapping Abby Deveraux and Chelsea Brady. I needed to distract Jack and Billie a bit so, with Cassie's help, I had their daughters kidnapped. Cassie was nice enough to drug the girls and cover our tracks as my men entered the Deveraux home and nabbed them.
    Max: You did what? I knew it. I knew you were acting real guilty that night!
    Jack: You helped them kidnap my daughter!
    Billie: I can't believe this!!
    Abby: Just when I thought you couldn't go any lower, you do this. Cassie, you truly are a Dimera.
    Cassie: I...
    Stefano: Cassie, is this true?
    Cassie: Yes. The cloaked person threatened you and our family, grandfather. You were in a coma. I didn't have a choice.
    Stefano: If I wasn't shot and in a coma...
    Cassie: It's ok.
    MCF: Gotta love you Dimera's.
    Stefano: Shutup!
    MCF: You really act like the caring father. Bravo!
    Stefano: I love my children.
    MCF: Yeah...but only when they are what you want them to be. They must be true Dimera's.
    Stefano: What the hell are you talking about? I would do anything for my children no matter...
    MCF: Now that is bull. If that was the case, how did your Alexandra lose Theo? Your one of the most powerful men in the world and you can't make sure your daughter wins a custody case? Sounds to me like you wanted to ensure loyalty from your daughter. She had turned her back on your family once after losing the child she believed to be hers. You knew the only way to get her fully back into the family and to remain loyal would be to turn her against all of Salem. Isn't that why you hired Tek to seduce her and break up her marriage to Abe? That set up the custody issue so perfectly. Poor Alexandra watched all of her friends in Salem support Abe because they wanted to keep Theo out of the Dimera's clutches. You knew this was pushing her toward you and you twisted the knife. Then, you lied to her and said you tried to influence the judge with threats and bribes but he balked when, in reality, you did nothing, Stefano. You made it seem like she lost Theo because of Abe, Celeste, and all of her friends in Salem. You and the Dimera's were all she had and she needed you to help get Theo back and that turned her to the dark side, if you will. Caring father...HA!! Not you. Not a father that manipulates his own children.
    Lexie: Father, is this true?
    Stefano: Alexandra...I...
    Lexie: Oh my...you did. (Lexie slaps Stefano) How could you?!
    Stefano: I'm sorry. I...
    Lexie: No!! You don't get to speak. Not now.

    Lexie turns and walks away from Stefano. Celeste looks at Abe and smiles. He smiles back, realizing this may turn Lexie against her father and the Dimera's for good.

    MCF: Ok. Enough of this. I'm bored with this group. Let me see who else I can have fun with.

    The MCF looks around. Hope and Chelsea both panic, wondering if the MCF will come back to them and reveal their secret. The MCF then looks at Cal and Katherine.

    MCF: Ah!! The newlyweds. How is life treating you?
    Katherine: Go to hell!
    MCF: Aww...is that any way to talk to the person who can give your husband the answers he seeks? I know the truth, Cal. I know all about your past, just like I said in the invitation you received to come here.

    Cal is stunned.

    -Back in Salem, at the Horton house, Kim is drinking tea with Alice. She thanks Alice for letting her stay with her. She had no place to go and the police made her leave the harbor. She is so worried about their loved ones. Alice says they just need to have faith that it will all work out. Kim says she has a horrible feeling that they may have seen many of their beloved love ones for the last time. Alice tells Kim she did right by calling the police as soon as the ship left. Kim hopes it wasn't too late.

    Alice looks at Tom's picture, remembering the awful feeling she had earlier that something bad was going to happen. She prays that Tom and all of heaven's angels will look down on their loved ones at sea and bring them home safe and sound. Kim then joins hands with Alice and says that the people they love need all the prayers they can get. They both then close their eyes and continue praying as the scene shifts back to...

    The cruise ship, where Cal asks:

    Cal: You know the truth? Your bluffing.
    MCF: I do. Ernesto, come here!

    Ernesto walks off stage and down to the MCF.

    MCF: Give me that file.
    Ernesto: Wait, no. Per the terms of our partnership, you vowed not to reveal this.
    MCF: I changed my mind.
    Ernesto: You can't...
    MCF: The partnership is off, Ernesto. Things change.
    Ernesto: Wait, you can't...
    MCF: You know, I was going to let you have your revenge on your enemies, just like my other assistants. I like you, Ernie. However, you are getting on my nerves right now. It's simply good business and I think you and I need to go our separate ways now. I have had a change of heart.
    Ernesto: You used me! You used all of us. You appeased us by allowing our enemies on board to make it look like you were sincere. Damnit...you played even the people that were on your side. The people that helped you pull this off.
    MCF: Your usefulness has reached it's limit. You no longer have anything I need.
    Ernesto: Wait a sec...

    The MCF then points his or her gun at Ernesto and shoots him. Ernesto falls to the ground. Everyone in the ballroom is stunned. The MCF laughs and says there is plenty more where that came from if everyone doesn't behave.

    Cal and Katherine look on. Cal tells Katherine to tend to Ernesto. He may be a bad man but he may have the answers to his past. He tells Katherine that Ernesto seemed really worried that the MCF would tell him about his past. Ernesto appeared in his memories. It has to mean something. Katherine agrees and goes over with Cal to Ernesto. They begin to tend to the wound and put pressure on it. Katherine is aided by Kayla, who says she took an oath to save lives regardless of who the person is. Kayla says that Ernesto is losing a lot of blood.

    The MCF watches and says that this scene is truly touching but it's time to move on. James then comes forward off stage.

    James: Wait, how do I know you won't screw me over like you just did Ernesto? I mean, he was your partner.
    MCF (looking at Alan): Have I screwed you over?
    Alan: Nope. I am pretty happy.
    MCF: See?
    James: Yeah. Big deal. Alan is getting his revenge and what he wants but I have yet to get anything. My family was murdered and you promised me...
    MCF: Revenge. Yes, I know. You will have it.
    James: Seeing as how you just betrayed Ernesto, I can't trust you. Also, the fact that you have mentioned everything tonight but the night my family was murdered tells me that you are hiding something.
    MCF: Do you want to be shot, too?
    James: I just want answers. I want to know why you are steering clear of mentioning my family's murder tonight? You said Marlena did it so why not mention it? You talked of everything else.
    MCF: Well, there was no point in mentioning it and...
    Marlena: Oh, please. Don't try to avoid the issue again. Just tell them all the truth. Tell James the truth.

    Marlena then appears, aiming a gun at the MCF.

    Roman: Doc...
    Sami: Mom...
    Belle: Mom...
    MCF: Marlena!! Truly a sight for sore eyes!
    Marlena: I'm not Marlena. I'm Samantha. Also, save your BS for someone else. You betrayed me. We had an agreement. I help you and you help me. You set me up the night of the Chez Rouge fire. You fed me to the police and I ended up locked in a psych ward for weeks!!
    MCF: Well, I look at it as me sending you on a vacation. I mean, you got some nice peace and...
    Marlena: Shut up. I'm not crazy!
    MCF: Well, you have taken on the name of your dead sister.
    Marlena: Ugh...I should've known you would betray me in the beginning.
    MCF: Oh, come now. I helped rescue you from that volcano last summer after you fell. Ernesto saw you fall on that ledge and he and I came back and got you. We nursed you back to health.
    Ernesto (weak from his wound): That's bull. You...and me used hypnosis on her. We took advantage of what Andre, Wendell, and the Dimera's did before us. They had messed with Marlena's mind to have her...recall all the bad times in her life over and over again. They twisted everything in her mind, taking her to a dark place. She was still like that when we got a hold of her. I used my hypnosis talents while you used ISA psychological techniques to get her...under your control. Too bad we pushed her to a psychotic break. She became a loose cannon. You thought that she could be controlled. That was the plan. We were going to use her as a key piece of our plan but she went over the edge. That is...why we had no choice but to set her up and have her get captured and put in that psych ward. We needed her out of the way or else she would ruin everything. We put her through hell and put ourselves in the predicament we...got into with her.
    Kayla: Well, you both had to know that was coming. Her mind can only take so much and it went through a lot in a short period of time with the brainwashing and hypnosis from Tek, Wendell and Andre, and then from you two.
    Ernesto: Yes. She went off the deep end and multiple personalities was the result. She became a loose cannon, as I said.
    Katherine: And her sister represents one of the darkest things ever to happen in her life so, based on the fact that the brainwashing and hypnosis was emphasizing the negative in her life and manipulating it to mold her into what you two wanted her to be, it's no wonder she took on that persona.
    Marlena: ENOUGH!! I am not crazy and stop rehashing all this!! Now...back on topic. Come on, oh great cloaked one. Tell James. What are you afraid of? For months, you strut around like you are invincible so what has changed?
    MCF: I have nothing to tell.
    Marlena: STOP LYING!!! You glossed over this topic all night. You obviously have something to hide. Think about it, James. You and I spent time together. What purpose would I have to kill your family? I wasn't afraid of the police or anyone else. They couldn't catch me until the cloaked one over there set me up.
    James: Well, you did say one time that you would do whatever it takes...
    Marlena: Yes but I had no reason to kill your family. They were more of a threat to the cloaked one and Ernesto then me. If they went down, I would still be around and kicking and I could still do what I planned to do. They had more to lose, James. They had more motive. We all know Ernesto wasn't here at that time so that leaves our beloved boss over there.
    James: Alright. Fine. (looks at MCF) I want the truth. I have had my suspicions, especially lately, that you were the one that brutally killed my family and that you used that to keep me on board to do your bidding. You didn't manipulate my emotions, did you? I mean, losing my family...I want to avenge them and you know that. You could use that as a way to get me to help you with your enemies. You didn't do that, did you? I want the truth. Did you do that? Did you kill my family and manipulate me like that?
    MCF: Of course not.
    Marlena: LIAR!!! Julie and Mags over there already tried to frame me for arson.

    Doug coldly looks at Maggie and Julie.

    Marlena: I will not continue to be framed for this. Tell James and everyone in this room the truth. Tell them that you killed James's family and used that to manipulate him. You made him hellbent on revenge against the PD, Jack and Billie...practically all of Salem. Tell him, damnit!!
    MCF: I will shoot you!!
    Marlena: I have a gun too. You may have guards all around but killing you will be worth me dying. Tell the damn truth. You did it. Tell him.
    James: Is it true? Did you kill them?

    The MCF is silent.

    James (with tears in his eyes): You did, didn't you? I should've known. It was all right in front of me. How could I....damnit!! You did it...you gutted my family like fish and then you manipulated me!!! YOU COLD BLOODED MONSTER!!!

    The MCF looks on silently. Everyone in the ballroom is stunned and looks on while Marlena, still holding her gun, shows a devilish grin as the screen slowly fades to black.

    ON THE NEXT SALEM LIVES...

    James to MCF: After everything I have done for you......you repay that by killing the people that I love?
    Ernesto to Cal: You have....to get your bride and yourself out of here.
    James to MCF: Well, time to reveal.....the puppet master........

    -At the Pub, Katherine and Cal are talking with Caroline and Kayla when Katherine realizes they need to go as they need to run back to the suite to get the rest of their things. Caroline and Kayla embrace both of them, wishing them well. Caroline reminds him that his home will always be Salem and that they will always be his family. Frankie, Max, and Bo come over, embraces both Cal and Katherine, and reiterates that statement while Stephanie watches. Frankie uses him and Max as an example as they aren't blood Brady's but have always been treated as part of the family. Cal smiles.

    Kate and Abe then come over to say their goodbyes. Abe says he still considers him one of his best friends. Cal thanks him. They embrace. Kate tells Cal that some of the best times of her life were with him and it doesn't matter who he is. It's the person he is that matters and a part of her will always love him. They embrace, followed by Kate giving him a kiss on the cheek. Kate tells Katherine to take care of him. Katherine smiles and nods. Marlena then comes over and wishes both of them well. She tells Cal they spent alot of time together and him being Cal doesn't change a thing. She still cares about him and wishes him the best. They embrace. Cal thanks her. Katherine says they really have to go. Cal agrees. Everyone at the Pub waves and says goodbye as Cal and Katherine do the same before exiting the Pub and shutting the door behind them.

    -In New Orleans, Steve is at the airport, having just made his way off the plane. He looks at the directions Tony gave him and tells himself it's time to do this thing, unaware that Hope is right behind him, vowing to find out what is going on with him.

    -Cal and Katherine walk through their suite, packing things up. Cal then gets a phone call on his cell, telling him that the Toscano Jet is fueled and ready for takeoff. He thanks the captain and hangs up, telling Katherine that it’s time to go. Katherine walks over and hugs Cal, telling him that everything will be just fine. A new life and wonderful times await for them and they better not waste any of it stuck in that cramped hotel room. Cal smiles as he kisses Katherine and, after he does, there’s a knock at the door.

    When he opens it up, Angelica stands in front of him, telling him that everything is set. Cal instructs her to make sure that Katherine gets down to the limousine ok. Angelica obeys and she walks in and picks up Katherine’s suitcases. As she walks out, Katherine walks past Cal, placing her hand on his cheek and telling him to take his time. She closes the door as she leaves and Cal stands in the middle of the room, thinking to himself. His mind drifts back to times past......

    Of when he first came to Salem during John/Roman and Marlena’s aborted wedding. Being a pawn of Kristen Blake’s. His love affair and marriage to Kate. The arguments he had with Sami. The horror of the SSK and the Captive Island tragedies, losing his identity as Roman Brady, his work in the police force, his friendship with Abe, his lost family..............and last, but not least, seeing the greatest love of his life for the very first time...........his wife, Katherine.

    And now, everything is now in the past. His life in Salem is over.......for now. He goes and looks out the window one last time on the city he called home for the last 10 years and then turns to walk out. He stops, looks around, places the key to the room on the end table, clicks off the light, and quietly closes the door.

    Thirty minutes later, Cal walks on board his private jet. He looks at Katherine, who is busy watching a DVD. When he asks what it is, she says that it’s her all time favorite mini series.........North And South. Cal asks why she loves it so much. She says she never honestly knew but then says that she is a huge fan. When Cal asks who her favorite character is, she says she likes them all........but that Ashton Main is one evil bitch. Cal laughs at that and kisses her on her cheek. He then walks over and pours himself a beer, looking at Katherine and saying how old habits die hard. Angelica then walks in and says that they are ready for take off.

    As they all buckle in, Cal receives a phone call from a man. When he answers the phone, he can’t make out the voice but the man tells him.....

    Man: Sir, everything in San Francisco is prepared for your arrival.
    Cal: Good to hear.
    Man: It will be a pleasure working with you again, sir.
    Cal: Oh........we know each other?
    Man: Well, sir, I think you will recognize me when we see each other.
    Cal: Sounds mysterious.
    Man: No, no, sir. My apologies. I didn’t mean to come off that way.
    Cal: No need to say you’re sorry. I’m just glad that I’ll have someone who’ll know the family business. I’m going to need all the help I can get.
    Man: And you’ll get it from me, sir. Well, see you in a few hours.
    Cal: Looking forward to it.

    Cal hangs up the cabin phone and Katherine asks who it was. Cal says someone who worked for his father. Katherine gets up and comes over to him, sits down next to him, and asks him....

    Katherine: So, honey. Ready to start our new life together?
    Cal: As ready as I’ll ever be.

    Cal motions for Angelica to tell the captain it’s time for takeoff. The plane taxis onto the runway, guns the engines full throttle, and takes off into the beautiful night sky.

    In San Francisco, the man Cal was talking to turns and starts to order everyone to get everything ready. The head of the Toscano Family is coming to stay and everything has to be just right. As the servants and assistants leave, the mysterious man turns around. And, thinking out loud, can only say one thing.........

    MYSTERIOUS MAN---CLICK HERE!!! This will be a welcome home Cal and his lovely bride will never forget.

    The man then walks over to a table, pours himself a brandy, and downs it in one gulp, placing the glass back on the table, and walking away.

    -On the island, Billie slips deeper into unconsciousness as Jack picks her up and holds her in his arms. He says that the storm is too strong to go out there and search for something to help treat the poisonous bite. He doesn't know what else to do so he just keeps talking to her, telling her that he hasn’t felt like this about a woman since..........and Jack can’t finish his sentence. He tells her that the storm is getting worse but the cave will protect them. Billie comes to long enough to tell Jack to shut up and just hold her. Jack smiles at her as she rests her head against his chest. Jack grabs a blanket and wraps her up in it, rocking her back and forth as she relaxes somewhat in his arms. He tells her she will be fine. Then, Jack looks towards the heavens, asking God for one favor......

    Jack: Please, God. Don't let Billie die. Please. I can't lose her like I lost Jennifer.

    At that very moment, a helicopter carrying Elizabeth and Alexander drops down over the ocean. Alex tells his mother that it would really be a shame to die like this. Elizabeth agrees, saying that this wasn’t the greatest idea. The pilot has control of the helicopter but then announces that engine No. 2 is going out. He doesn’t know how long he can keep the plane flying. A few seconds later the helicopter drops suddenly, causing Elizabeth to let out a violent scream as the lights in the helicopter go out........

    -Back in Salem, at the Kiriakis Mansion, Victor sits in his study, watching his favorite movie. Nico and Bo walk in and Bo says out loud that he always did love The Godfather. Victor agrees, saying that Brando was wonderful in that role. Bo wants to know why he’s watching this movie now. Victor says he’s just thinking. He then gets up and turns the DVD player off and tells Nico to make sure the door is locked. As Nico checks the door, Victor tells Bo to have a seat. Nico then walks over and pours drinks for everyone. Victor asks if Cal and his wife got off ok, to which Bo says he made sure Cal and Katherine are fine. He’s just glad they are now out of harm’s way from both Stefano and Orpheus. Victor says that that doesn’t matter. Orpheus got to Sami, Eric, and Austin. No telling whose next.

    Which brings Victor to the next phase of his plans. Bo asks if that is what the blueprints are for. Victor nods his head. He tells both men that they have an operative working on something very special for Stefano. Once everything is in place, he’ll fill them in. Bo agrees with that and then Bo says that he has to call Hope and make sure she’s ok. He tells Victor he will also call Steve since he didn't answer before. Bo feels that he is a part of this too. As Bo gets up and leaves, Victor stops Nico and tells him to shut the door. When they are alone, Victor tells Nico.....

    Victor: You watch over my son. He is very, very important to the future of this family.
    Nico: And what about Johnson?
    Victor: If he has to be sacrificed.........so be it. He isn’t blood anyway.
    Nico: Understood, sir.
    Victor: Good. And make sure you get in touch with our operative. The time is drawing near. This war is about to reach a brand new level.......

    And we better make the first strike before it does.

    Nico obeys his Godfather and walks out of the room, leaving Victor to grimly contemplate what lies in front of all of them.

    Meanwhile, at The DiMera Mansion, Stefano orders one of his men, Petrov, to come in. He says that being the son of one of his most loyal men gave him an inroad into the DiMera family but his work is not done. Stefano knows that Victor and Orpheus will both be after him and now is the time to make sure that all of their men are in place and ready to strike when the moment comes. Petrov asks if that time is near, to which Stefano replies.....

    Stefano: Of course it is. I’ve lost too much in my lifetime to be defeated by ether of those men. Renee, Megan, and Andre. Tony hates me and my son Benjamin...........I haven’t spoken to him in years. Alexandra can’t even breathe the same air I do. All I have........is power. And I intend to use it to CRUSH each and every person that dare stand in my way!

    He orders Petrov to get in touch with his personal bodyguard and tells him to make sure that Orpheus, Victor Kiriakis, and especially Roman Brady are kept under surveillance until the right moment. And........when that moment arrives.......

    All three men will know what pain and suffering is truly made of. Petrov obeys and leaves Stefano to bask in the glow of the symphony that he is listening to at this very moment, as he laughs at the destruction that will fall on Salem.

    -Back in New Orleans, Steve arrives at Maison Blanche. He walks up to the door and rings the bell. The caretaker answers, asking who he is and what he wants. Steve says he is a friend of Tony Dimera. The caretaker understands and says Tony called and let him know he would be coming. He introduces himself as Byron Muldoon. Byron mentions he always had a soft spot for Tony as he is much more giving and kind then his father. Steve agrees and asks if it's ok if he looks around a bit. Byron says that's fine as Tony told him he would be searching the house. He tells Steve to take his time and to let him know if he can help in any way. Steve thanks him and begins to look around.

    Meanwhile, Hope comes to the door. She wonders if she can somehow convince the caretaker to let her in since Tony didn't give her permission. She rings the bell, causing Steve to wonder who that could be. Byron tells Steve it's probably just a delivery or something. Steve nods and goes into another room as Byron opens the door. He asks Hope who she is and what she wants. She introduces herself and says she is a friend of Steve's and has come to help. Byron thinks for a minute and tells her to leave the premises or the police will be called. He then slams the door in her face, leaving Hope to wonder what she is going to do next.

    -At Roman and Marlena’s, Roman sits at the dining room table looking over some plans. Marlena comes downstairs and sees what Roman is doing. She walks over to him and asks him why he left the Pub before saying goodbye to Cal and Katherine. Roman said he had things to do. A frustrated Marlena then asks him......

    Marlena: Are you going out again?
    Roman: Maybe. Maybe not. Whose to tell.
    Marlena: Do we have to get into this again?
    Roman: No. Not really. If you would just leave me alone, we don’t HAVE to get into anything, now do we?
    Marlena: I thought I was supposed to be the one who was nuts in this marriage, not you.
    Roman: Funny, Doc. Very funny. How funny was it when your sister was buried, hmmm? How funny was it when you and the family thought I was dead? How funny is it now that we have to see our children at their graves? I’m sick of this [!@#$%^&*], ok? From now on, ANYONE [!@#$%^&*] with my people........

    Better have their life insurance paid up. And now........if you’ll excuse.........

    Roman gets up and walks out the house once again. Marlena tries to follow but suddenly gets dizzy. She looks around and sees the room spinning out of control. She then tries to walk towards the phone but stumbles.......and then falls forward in one huge heep on the floor. As she hits the floor, a bottle of pills falls out of her pocket. It is the same medicine that she was supposed to be taking for her illness. At that moment, the phone starts ringing. On the other end is her doctor, Barbara, trying to get in touch with her.

    As the phone rings, the scene slowly starts to pan upward, and as the scene shows an unconscious Marlena on the living room floor, the scene keeps rising slowly rising upwards as it fades to black.

    1/5/06 (sorry this is late guys-been busy-tomarrow's episode will be late too so stick with me-I hope this episode isn't too confusing since lots of characters are one and there is lots of action-ask questions please if there are any errors or confusions)

    -Will is having trouble trying to find a way to help Chelsea. He is sure he has what he needs to help but isn’t a doctor and doesn’t know exactly what to do. Chelsea continues to scream in pain, begging for help. She then loses consciousness. Will tires to wake her and then notices she isn’t breathing. He uses his CPR skills to revive her but she is still unconscious. He decides he needs help if he is gonna save her but is afraid to drive for fear of being spotted with the stolen ambulance. He finally decides to take action, despite having only a permit, due to the severity of the situation. He jumps in the driver’s seat and decides to drive the ambulance through part of the woods and onto a old countryside road that isn’t used much that he knows of. Knowing that the roads are still icy and that speeding would make him look suspicious, he decides to take his time. After driving through several quiet and hardly busy roads, he spots a isolated farmhouse. He hides the ambulance in a wooded area nearby and walks up the front door. He rings the bell and a elderly man hesitantly answers. Will asks the man if he knows of any doctors or medical centers nearby. He says he has a friend that is in desperate need of medical care. The old man’s wife walks up and says there is a small medical clinic five miles away off RT. 86. She says that they are like a mini hospital and should be able to help. Will thanks them and runs back to the ambulance. The elderly couple looks out the window and sees Will drive off, They wonder why on earth a teen is driving an ambulance and is looking for a medical center. They think about calling the cops but decide not to get involved unless something forces them too. Will follows directions and reaches the clinic. He parks the ambulance a block away to avoid being busted and carries Chelsea wrapped in blankets to the ER. The nurses and doctors are stunned by her burns and ask what happened. Will says she was in a bad accident and the car was in flames and she barely made it out. They rush her into a cubicle as Will waits outside, hoping Chelsea is ok and wondering what he has gotten himself into.

    -Marlena walks over and comforts Maggie and Caroline. She apologizes and says she feels responsible but both women won’t have that. They tell her to focus on John as they are praying for her. Caroline says that Shawn is looking out for John since he always felt that John was his son. Marlena embraces Caroline as Belle comes over and they hold each other. Caroline goes back over to Victor and tells him that they can’t let anyone ever know their secret. It would destroy her and his family knowing what they did to Shawn and having never told him. Caroline admits that what they did was shameful, especially not telling Shawn. Victor comforts her and tells her he won’t tell a soul and that both of them gave into passion so they are both equally responsible. Abe and Celeste walk in and learn what has happened. Both embrace Caroline and Maggie. They also console Marlena, who is waiting for word on John. They all ask Abe where Lexie is as Abe says that Lexie has other things going on. Meanwhile, Lexie is still at the accident scene as the EMT’s are telling her that they are taking Det. Kramer’s body to the morgue. Lexie tells them to wait and open the bag again. She apologizes for how everything ended and says that she will never forget what he meant to her during one of the toughest periods of her life. As she breaks down in tears, she confesses she loved him too just not as much as Abe which doesn’t matter now since she has lost both of them. She backs away as Tek’s body is zipped into the bag as Lexie tries to hold herself together. The EMT’s ask her if she is alright and needs a ride as she refuses saying that she just wants to go home right now and be with her son. They remind her that the hospital will need her services tonight with the storm and accident causing a surplus in patients. Lexie says that she can’t handle that tonight and walks away still in tears as both EMT’s look at her wondering what could get in the way of Dr. Carver’s dedication to saving lives. We then see Lexie covering her face saying, "How can I abide by an oath I already broke? Tek’s death is my fault and I could have saved him by just not letting things go this far. Tek’s blood is on my hands. I am too blame for his death, just like I am too blame for the death of my marriage.” Lexie then leans up against an ambulance and collapses in tears on the road.

    -Carrie, Austin, Sami, and Lucas all show up at the hospital. They are surprised to see so many people and want to know what is going on. Sami got a call from Hope saying that something had happened and they thought it was Will. Caroline walks over and says that it isn’t. She then fills them in on everything from John to Shawn Sr’s death. Sami and Carrie are devastated. Austin is surprised when Carrie turns to Lucas for comfort. He then embraces Sami, which Carrie spies. Then, both girls embrace their grandmother and express their sympathies. They both go over to Roman who is in a corner by the payphones. They hug him as Roman is unresponsive and walks away. Bonnie tries to follow him but gives up as Mimi tells her its not a good idea. Bo and Hope tell Sami and Carrie that their father is holding everything in right now for the family and that isn’t good. They all agree to stick together as a family to get through this as Sami continues to wonder about Will.

    -Lucas and Austin go over and talk to Kate. They mention they saw Phillip. Belle overhears and her, Shawn, and Mimi come over to hear what is up. Austin and Lucas fill then in and how hateful Phillip was as Kate starts getting upset again. Billie reassures her as Belle cries on Shawn’s shoulder which Mimi sees. Bo and Hope overhear and ask Shawn if its true-that he is Claire’s father. He says it is as Kate sees an overjoyed Hope and Bo hugging both Shawn and Belle, which Mimi sees as well. Kate then lashes out saying that Hope got her wish and now Phillip is a wreck. Shawn responds by announcing to everyone that Kate and Victor both knew. Everyone is stunned. Marlena walks over too and can’t believe what she is hearing. Hope is stunned, as is Bo. Caroline backs away from Victor and asks if its true. Victor explains everything as Caroline reminds him of his anger when she did the same thing when hiding Bo’s paternity. Victor says it was wrong but that he only knew a short time. He brings up that Kate knew longer and actually tried to change the records but he stopped her and changed them back. Hope lashes out at Kate, as do Marlena and Belle, for playing God in other people’s lives. Hope hauls off and smacks her sending Kate to the floor. Belle tells her to go to hell and to just stay out of people’s lives. Kate gets back up and says that it isn’t her fault Belle was a whore just like her mother. Marlena lunges for her and they have a brawl on the floor which is joined in by Hope. Austin and Lucas break it up. They all tell Kate to get out as Billie offers to leave with her. Kate and Billie talk on the way out as Billie says that Kate is getting what she deserved. Kate reminds Billie of her reasons for doing what she did as Billie points out all the reasons for not doing it and how everything she does to interfere makes things worse for her children. Billie goes to get the car as Sami walks out and gloats in Kate’s face saying, “The mother from hell finally got her due.” Kate just stands there as Sami smirks and lays into her about all her past deeds and how they backfired and hurt so many people, especially the very people she set out to help, her children. Billie walks in and tells Sami to lay off as Kate bursts into tears saying that Sami is right. A stunned Sami is marveled by Kate being in tears and admitting she is wrong. Billie drags her out to the car. Sami then decides to call Will’s friends again to see if maybe they were off somewhere and are now back or something. The first person she calls informs her that there was something going on with all the kids but its over now and that her son said everyone went home or their separate ways. She asks to talk to the kid. The boy tells her that Will ran off after getting mad at all of them over something and they never saw him the rest of the night. Sami thanks him and his mother for their help and races to tell Lucas. Lucas is with Carrie and Austin when Sami tell him what she found out. She is really worried now as Austin holds her and says everything is going to be fine.

    -Roman is on the roof as Bonnie is about to join him. Marlena then comes up and embraces him. The start talking about Shawn and all the memories they had of him. Marlena begs him not to hold his feelings inside since she knows he does that. Roman says he is in shock right now. Marlena informs him of her memory returning, except for her memories of John, and about Alex’s death. Roman is happy there is some good news. Marlena realizes she needs to get back since she has heard nothing about John yet. She hugs him and says she will always care about him and have a special place in her heart for him. He tells her he feels the same way. She leaves as Bonnie enters. Roman asks her why she is there. She says she just wanted to help him and agrees with Marlena about just letting things out. Roman tells her he doesn’t want to talk as Bonnie says that he had no problem talking with Marlena. Roman looks at her and just walks away as Bonnie vows to help him and not give up. There is just something about him that makes her want to help him and be there for him, like a force or pull. She follows him back downstairs.

    -Hope, Bo, Shawn, Belle, and Caroline all ask Victor how he could do what he did. He realizes it was wrong but he saw Phillip with Claire and it got the best of him. Everyone begins to understand where Victor was coming from and realize he had good intentions. He promises to make it up to all of them and that he will never withhold something like that again as long as he loves as he looks at Caroline. They all agree to let it go concerning Victor but can’t forgive Kate. They want her arrested for her part in the coverup since someone could have been hurt from changing medical records. Victor insists that Kate is being punished enough. Besides, he already bought her out of trouble and there is no evidence anymore since the records were changed back. They agree and leave Victor with Caroline, who holds her. Caroline asks what vow Victor will honor-his to not reveal her secret or his to not keep another big secret. Victor says he will do what she wishes but thinks that they can’t say anything right now. Her husband just died. She agrees and says they will discuss it later but she needs Victor to leave. She wants to be just with her family now. Victor understands and tells her to let him know if she needs anything. He will be there for her. He leaves.

    -Marlena comes downstairs, followed by Bonnie and Roman, as a doctor comes out with news. He tells Marlena that John is ok for now. However, they are very worried about infection since he had an open wound for so long while at the accident scene. Marlena, who is holding Belle, asks to see him but the doctor says they can once he is settled in a room. Then we see Frankie, Jen, Max, Abby, Doug, Julie, and Alice enter the scene. They got sick of waiting since nobody had been calling them. Maggie apologizes saying so much was going on. Everyone fills them in on Shawn Sr’s death, Mickey, John’s injury, Alex’s death, part of Marlena’s memory coming back, and Shawn being Claire’s father. Abe also announces that Tek as killed. Belle, Carrie, and Sami are happy Marlena has most of her memory back. Sami is really happy since Marlena doesn’t have any John memories but Marlena tells her to lay off. Sami, being the attention craver she is, mentions how Will is missing. Bo and Roman agree to send some squad cars out to look for him as Sami thanks them. Alice suggests that everyone hold hands in prayer to pray for Tek, Shawn Sr’s, and even Alex’s souls and the souls of anyone else who died. She also asks to pray for John, Mickey, Will, Phillip, Claire and anyone else who is pain, trouble, or heartache tonight. She also thanks God for those who survived the tragedy and for Marlena starting to remember, as well as Abe’s recovery as everyone in the room looks at him overjoyed. Everyone quietly prays. Belle decides to go check on Claire. Shawn wants to go too but Belle tells him to stay put since his uncle Mickey is in danger still. Mimi says she will go with Belle. Both of them leave. Abe and Celeste decide to go home too and go through the line of people embracing all of them. As they enter the elevator, Celeste tells Abe that she admires how strong he was. It could not have been easy helping others through tragedy and having to deal with what Lexie did to him. Abe says its hard knowing that his family has been destroyed because of lies again but that its also hard seeing so much pain and heartache tonight for lots of people who cares about. Celeste comforts Abe and says she feels everything will come out as it should and that he will be alright. She will help him. She then has a vision of a woman crying and screaming. Abe asks her what is wrong as she says that someone else is about to get bad news that will change lives forever.

    -A doctor comes out and asks for Mrs. Horton. Maggie introduces herself as her. The doctor tells her that her husband made it through surgery but is in very serious condition. At that moment, we hear several machines beeping and then hear an announcement for two cold blues. Marlena sees John’s doctor run by and asks what is going on as he says that John has gone into septic shock and is in code blue. Mickey’s doctor says that Mickey is code blue too and runs off as Maggie begins to break down as Caroline holds her and Marlena. Belle runs back with Mimi and learns what is going on. Everyone holds each other waiting to hear what happens and we see the Horton’s and Brady’s united together hoping for the best. We see two nurses walking by who say, “Those people in there must be family and friends. They are gonna be devastated. He was such a good man and so full of life.” Both Marlena and Maggie hear this and wonder who they are talking about as both scream that this can’t be happening. One of their husbands can’t be dead. Both doctors come out and we see them talking. They come over and Mickey’s doctor says he has bad news for Maggie, as does John’s doctor for Marlena. Since everyone knows both men real well and are family, they decide not to tell the news separately to the individual parties involved with both patients. Both doctors recommend both woman sit down as everyone else looks on and prays that no one has passed and that the nurses were wrong. Marlena asks if someone died as the doctors look down and Marlena and Maggie both hold hands screaming, “Oh no!! NO!!!” We see the grim looks on everyone in the waiting room’s faces intermingled with Maggie and Marlena waiting to hear which of their husbands didn’t make it. Screen then fades to black.

    On the Next Days...

    The extent of Chelsea’s injuries are revealed. A Salem resident wakes up a prisoner. The mystery man who saved Patrick and Chelsea is revealed. All of Salem mourns the death of a beloved citizen. Families band together in time of death and despair.

    NIGHT OF TERROR, PART V


    UNIVERSITY HOSPITAL

    Police officers, National Guardsmen and Illinois State Troopers run throughout the building, searching for Michael Myers. Kate runs into the hallway and demands to know where Lucas is. Max stops her and tells her that he took most of the women out of Salem until Myers is caught........or killed. Kate says that she has been hearing reports that Myers has been injured but, for some reason, he keeps escaping. Billie then walks up and says they need to get out of the hospital now. It’s a madhouse.......and the police know that Michael is in the building.

    Kate, Billie and Max turn to walk out and Jack sees this. He stops Billie and asks if she will be ok. Billie smiles and then steps toward Jack. They look at each other as she leans in.......and gently kisses him. They then both hug each other warmly and Jack tells her that they need to sit down and talk when this is over. Billie smiles, as a tear rolls down her face. Jack wipes it away, like the gentleman he is, and then both women are lead out by a NG trooper.

    The scene shifts to a darkened hallway as Roman runs about, checking rooms. He then gets a phone call. It’s Belle and she asks her father.......

    Belle: What’s going on, Daddy?
    Roman: Listen to me, baby. Where ever you are........I want you to get Claire and get in your car, leave Salem, and don’t come back until you hear from me or your mother, ok?
    Belle: But Daddy........
    Roman: Just do as I say! I...........I would never be able to forgive myself if anything happened to you, ok?
    Belle: (After a pause) Ok, Daddy. I’ll go. You please be careful. I love you.
    Roman: I love you too, baby.

    They both hang up and, at that moment, the elevator stops on Roman’s floor. He turns to see the floor light activate and then slowly walks over to the elevator, with his weapon drawn. As he reaches the door, he aims his gun and, with a steel determination, watches as the door slowly opens........

    To reveal the unconscious body of Jean. Blood is everywhere and her eyes are still open. Roman is aghast, so aghast that he doesn’t see The Shape walking behind him. Michael stops for a second, turns, looks at Roman, and then heads around the corner and slowly stalks down the hallway.

    Roman walks into the elevator, bends down and looks into Jean’s eyes. He then gives the sign of The Cross and asks God to grant her peace. As he stands back up, he radios downstairs and tells Abe that Jean is coming back down. He found her barely alive. He then turns suddenly.......and is shocked and scared out of his pants by the sight of Tony DiMera in front of him. He demands to know.....

    Roman: What the hell are you doing here, Tony?!
    Tony: Thought I could lend my former brother a hand. Where is this foul creature?
    Roman: Somewhere in the building. Which is where you shouldn’t be.
    Tony: You need all the help you can get.
    Roman: I can arrest you.
    Tony: No, you can’t. You’re no longer a police officer. Besides..........it’s all over the country that this Myers person killed many of Salem’s finest tonight.
    Roman: And you think you can help stop him.
    Tony: Somebody has to.

    Roman starts to tell Tony to get out of the building when they both hear a noise from around the corner. They both turn and then look at each other. Roman radios down that he just heard a noise and is going to check it out. He then tells Tony to stay behind him. Tony agrees, saying......

    Tony: I’m brave........but not that brave.

    Both men start through the waiting area and then slowly start down the hallway. As the two men walk deliberately down the hallway, they look into each room on either side of the hall. After a few very tense moments, they start getting close to the end of the hallway......but neither sees that Michael has walked out of one of the rooms Tony just looked in and is now walking behind them. When they stop, he stops. When they walk, he walks. It’s almost like a game to Michael now.

    As the men make it to the end of the hallway, they both look at each other and breathe a sigh of relief. As they turn..........they both see Michael standing in front of them. Roman aims his gun and fires, hitting Michael, but it doesn’t faze him once again. Michael takes three huge steps forward and grabs both men by the throat. He lifts both men off the ground, showing his incredible strength. He then tilts his head to the left.......and then to the right, almost as if he’s admiring a painting. Michael then looks at Tony......

    And with one mighty heave, sends him crashing through a glass window, onto a operating table, and then falling down to the floor, bloody..........and unconscious. Michael then turns his attention back to Roman as he starts to squeeze his throat with a vice-like grip. Roman fights for dear life and starts to lose consciousness. His eyes start to roll into the back of his head............

    When Steve, Bo, Abe and Nico come around the corner. All four men pull weapons and take aim. Michael hears them and turns around........with a choking Roman in his hands. Abe orders them not to fire and then Michael looks at the men, then back at Roman..........

    And sends him crashing through a glass window on the opposite side of the hallway. An unconscious Roman falls onto a operating table and then slowly falls to the floor.

    Michael then turns and briskly walks to the stairwell as the four men give chase. Michael reaches the stairwell and closes the door behind him.........and then breaks the door knob off. He then punches the doorknob until the door is basically sealed. The men reach the door but can’t get through. Bo looks through the door to see Michael slowly walk down the stairs.........and disappear.

    Nico and Steve say they are going after him as Abe radios downstairs about the situation. Bo goes into the operating room to check on his fallen and injured brother. Bo gets him to come to and Roman’s voice is very hoarse from the choking he just received. Roman can barely move and Bo goes and grabs a towel and holds it on his bleeding wound on his back. Roman tells Bo that they have to find Myers before he kills someone else. Bo knows that but says the best thing to do now is get the hell out of the hospital. Bo knows he can’t take Myers on by himself. Roman agrees and Bo gently picks his brother up as they both head out the door and back down the hallway.

    Meanwhile, Elizabeth walks outside the hospital. Alex comes up behind her, frightening her. Alex says he’s sorry and Elizabeth tells him to never do that again. Alex then tells her that he got a state trooper to do him a favor and take her to a safe house for now. Elizabeth says she will not leave him in Salem alone. Alex reminds her that, thanks to her, he’s there with his father. They will look after each other. The trooper comes by and asks if she is ready. Mother and son look at each other........and then hug warmly. Alex looks at her again and simply says.......

    Alex: See you soon, Mother.
    Elizabeth: Ok, my son.

    The state trooper whisks Elizabeth off, puts her in the front seat of a squad car, gets in himself, and they both drive off into the night as Alex watches the car leave. He then turns and sprints towards Jack and Billie, who are standing by her car. He tells them both that his mother is safe. Jack thanks him for getting Elizabeth out of town and then he turns to Billie before she can react and says to her.......

    Jack: Now it’s time to get you to safety.
    Billie: No..........I’m not leaving you. Not now.
    Jack: Dammit, Billie........
    Billie: NO........Jack. I..........I care about you too much, ok?

    Jack looks at her for a few moments and then smiles. He then hugs her, looks at her again......and gently kisses her on the lips. He then opens her car door and, reluctantly, Billie gets in. She then starts up her car, looks at both men for the last time.........and drives off. Jack and Alex look at each other and then jog back towards the hospital. As they reach the door, they see Bo bringing an injured Roman out of the hospital. They run up to them and ask what happened. Bo says Michael Myers is what happened. He then says that Tony is still inside, upstairs in one of the operating rooms, and both Jack and Alex run into the hospital. As the scene watches the men run into the building, it shifts to.........


    ORPHEUS'S PENTHOUSE

    Sami is watching MSNBC. She is terrified at what is happening in Salem and, as Orpheus walks into her room, she asks him if this Michael Myers has been caught. Orpheus looks at her........and tells her no. She then sees that for the first time, he seems very worried. She asks him if this man CAN be stopped and Orpheus doesn’t answer her. He then turns and tells her that state troopers, local police, Stefano’s men, his men and Victor’s men are all out looking for him and, if he has anything to say about it, Myers will be brought in.......

    Alive.........or dead. With that, Orpheus leaves Sami alone in her room. Sami then goes and sits back down, watching everything as it unfolds........and praying for her family.


    STREETS OF SALEM (RT. 14)

    The state trooper drives Elizabeth out of town. He looks at her and smiles, saying that she is in good hands and that she has nothing to worry about. As Elizabeth smiles back at him, she then asks if he left something in his back seat. When the trooper asks why, Elizabeth says that something back there is hitting on the floor. The trooper then looks at Elizabeth, back at the road, and then at her again. When Elizabeth turns her head to see what it may be.......

    Michael Myers sits up in the backseat, grabs Elizabeth by each side of her head, and pulls her into the backseat with one motion. The state trooper tries to stop Michael and drive the car at the same time but it is all for naught. As Elizabeth struggles to free herself from this monster, Michael looks at her........and jerks her head to one side, snapping her neck, and killing her instantly. He then opens the back car door..........

    And pushes her out of the moving vehicle. After he closes the door, he turns his rage toward the screaming state trooper.........

    As Billie comes driving down the same road. She looks down the road and the sight she sees makes he gasp. She slams on her breaks, jumps out of her car, and sprints down the dark, moonlit road...........to see Elizabeth’s lifeless body laying on the pavement. She bends down and checks her pulse but can tell from the looks of her that she’s dead. She then gets on her cell phone and calls Bo and all she can say is.........

    Billie: Bo? Billie. I just found Elizabeth dead in the middle of the street. I'm on Route 14. You better tell everyone...........Michael got out of the hospital and, if he isn’t caught soon..........

    Then NO ONE is safe in Salem.

    The scene then freeze frames on Billie’s shocked face as she kneels over Elizabeth and looks down the road..............

    As it slowly fades to black.

    ON THE NEXT SALEM LIVES...

    THE NIGHT OF TERROR'S DRAMATIC CONCLUSION!!!

    JANUARY 29, 2008-EPISODE #424: CIRCLE THE WAGONS


    CHEATIN HEART

    A man walks up to the bar and tries to get the bartender to give Billie another drink but he refuses. Billie tells the bartender that he doesn’t know who he’s pissing off and the man agrees with her. The bartender won’t budge. The man says he can have her drinks put on his tab and the bartender still says no. So, Billie picks up her last drink......and tosses it in his face. The bartender can’t believe it but Billie tells him that since she is a DiMera, he better not do anything stupid. The bartender thinks for a moment, gets a towel, wipes his face, and walks off.

    The man tries to get close to Billie but she pushes him away. Another patron sees this and goes over to get the man off Billie. As the second guy pushes the first guy, the first man comes back with a roundhouse right. Billie ducks out of the way and, as a bar room fight breaks out, she ducks out the back door and staggers down the street........drunk.

    Twenty minutes later, she ends up on the pier, sitting on a bench. She can’t believe how bad her life has become and wonders how people will ever except her. She silently looks toward the heavens.....

    And then once again breaks down, crying.


    BRADY PUB

    Caroline has closed it down for the rest of the day and evening. Victor thanks her, wondering why everyone was having that type of meeting with the restaurant open. Bo asks Carly how bad off is Lawrence and she says it’s about as bad as when he caused that earthquake on his island and left everyone for dead. Bo starts to wonder if Roman being in jail has something to do with this. Victor thinks it might. Steve asks Carly, point blank, if Lawrence was behind his disappearance like they all suspected and heard all those years ago and she honestly can’t answer that.

    Forrest tells everyone to calm down. They are throwing too much at her at once. Carly smiles and thanks him. He takes her hand and says...

    Forrest: No problem, my dear.

    Bo is suddenly jealous at this exchange and Hope also watches intently. As Bo walks away, Shane tells everyone that he is coordinating with I.S.A. Commanders in Europe and Asia but finding Lawrence is proving very tricky. Forrest says that his brother has always been like that, even when they were kids. Belle wonders if everyone will have to have armed bodyguards around the clock and Sami comes in from the back, saying that it seems like some sort of vendetta on Lawrence’s part.

    When everyone in the Pub turns and looks at her sternly, Sami doubles back and, after a few moments, promises.....

    Sami:Ok.........I will never utter the word “Vendetta” again, ok?

    Everyone slowly turns back toward Shane and Carrie asks if Roman can be released before Lawrence is found. Jack says that may be their best bet. After all, Roman spent a lot of years as Lawrence’s brother/cousin. Miranda says they are working on that but, for right now, everyone needs to keep their eyes open. Shane agrees, saying that this may involve all the five families. Stephanie asks which five families and Shane says the Alamains, Bradys, Kiriakises, DiMeras........to which everyone gasps......and the Hortons. Mike walks in at that moment and asks......

    Mike: What does my family have to do with any of this?

    Everyone looks around as Mike stares at Shane and Miranda.


    DIMERA PENTHOUSE

    In the stateroom at the penthouse, Stefano watches the evening news. Lincoln walks in and sits down, with Stefano asking if the families are still meeting at the Brady Pub. He says they are. Stefano is worried. With his son’s..........death, as it were.........Roman Brady is about to be neutralized. He hopes he doesn’t have to take on all the other families for the secret that is still buried deep. Lincoln knows that he will help in any way possible and Stefano pats him on the shoulder, thanking him for that.

    Just then, the servant tells Stefano he has a guest. When Stefano says to show the person in.........Hawk walks in and both Stefano and Lincoln do a double take. Stefano walks over and shakes Hawk’s hand and tells him......

    Stefano: I would say it was a pleasure to see you.....
    Hawk: I know......it would be just as big a lie as if I would have said it to you.

    Both men smile and Stefano asks.....

    Stefano: So......what brings you here, my old friend?
    Hawk: Oh, just a warning.......stay away from those people. Especially a very special lady you and I both know.
    Stefano: (Laughing) Now......do you think I take orders from you? My, my, my.....
    Hawk: Not an order.......just a warning.
    Lincoln: You better leave while you still can, old man.
    Hawk: Stay out of this, boy.
    Lincoln: I’ll jump in at anytime I want to......
    Hawk: Well then.....if you’re feeling froggish, leep then.......

    Stefano has to get in between both men and remind them not to brawl in his home. Both men stare at each other and Hawk reminds Stefano......

    Hawk: Remember what I said, old man. And, as for you, (Looking at Lincoln) I’ll see you around.
    Lincoln: You can bet on that.

    Hawk walks out as Lincoln asks if Stefano wants him to take care of Hawk. Stefano tells him that Hawk is truly one man you do NOT want to do battle with. Another man walks in and agrees with Stefano, saying......

    Wendell: You better listen to him, Lincoln. No time for flying off the handle.

    Stefano greets Wendell (Wayne Northrup) as the two men shake hands and Stefano asks......

    Stefano: Well........is everything moving according to our plans?
    Wendell: Of course. My boss and I are in close contact. We should have acquisition soon.
    Stefano: Excellent. The first phase is about to be launched. Gentlemen, we will only have one chance at this.......and no one can stop us.


    BRADY PUB

    Caroline pulls both Hope and Steve to the side and says that she knows what it’s like to make the mistake that they made. She is hurt for her son.....but still loves them both very much. They both appreciate that. Kimberly then comes up and says she feels the same but it will take her a little longer to get past what they did. They both understand that as Bo and Kayla look on. The scene then suddenly fades to....


    SALEM TOWERS RESTAURANT

    Abby and Max are still enjoying their night together and are about to pay the bill. Abby turns her phone on, saying she should check her messages. One is an urgent message form Jack telling her and Max to come to the Pub. Max wonders what’s up and she doesn’t know. Max pays the bill and both he and Abby leave the restaurant.......

    And neither one notices the car sitting behind Max’s as they get in and drive away. And, back at the Pub.....


    BRADY PUB

    Someone stands in the darkness, watching members of the five families converse inside. It is a woman and she pulls out a cell phone. She makes a call and informs the person who answers.....

    Woman: Well........you were right again. They are all meeting. Shane Donovan must have said something. I know. I’ll be careful.....as always, my love. Good night.

    As the woman hangs up, the scene shows the inside of the Pub from the woman’s vantage point........

    And then slowly fades to black.

    ON THE NEXT SALEM LIVES...

    Who's IN?

    Mandy Musgrave (Chelsea Brady)- The actress officially returns to her role on January 27. She originally signed a three year deal when she returned but due to storyline reasons she will be exiting in early Spring. "There was simply a change of plans," says a show rep. However, insiders hint that her exit may not be final and that she may return at a later time as her primary story is said to be being "put on hold" for now.

    Joshua &Jacob Rips (John Thomas "JT" Brady Reiber)-The twins recently reprised their roles as Bo and Hope's former "son." As to how long they remain-stay tuned this week to learn what JT's fate is along with the other children's.


    Who's OUT?

    Brody Hutzler (Patrick Lockhart)- As previously reported, the actor is on hiatus but has pre-taped some scenes that will be airing over the next month to finish out the story for now. Look for Patrick's past to start to come to light and then be put away for awhile until late Spring when the character will return in a hot summer story.


    John Ingle (Mickey Horton)- The actor last aired on January 17 when he appeared as a ghost, something that may happen again in the future. "We realize how important Mickey is to the show but we felt it was best for the show and for Maggie that he be killed off for storyline purposes. The actor is great and will be missed but he never fit the role of Mickey. The presence of the character will be missed though," says a show rep.

    Frank Parker (Shawn Brady Sr.)- The actor last aired on January 9 after his alter ego was killed off in a car accident. "This was done for reasons similar to killing off Mickey. Its was just best for the show and for the other characters, especially Caroline. It gives us lots of story to tell," says a show rep.

    Rhasaan Orange (Thomas 'Tek" Kramer)- "Tek" was killed off and last aired January 5. he may return at some point in a dream or as a ghost. "We love Rhasaan but we had no place left to go with the character. The story never took off and his exit kicks off a huge story for Abe, Lexie, and Celeste," says a show rep.



    Status Changes

    John Aniston (Victor Kiriakis) and Tanya Boyd (Celeste Perrault)- Both have been upgraded to contract status and have two year deals. Insiders say both were upgraded because they have tremendous amounts of story coming up and will spend a great deal of time this year on the front burner. Rumor has it they will both be embroiled in hot romances...stay tuned.

    Other Notes

    Arianne Zuker (Nicole Walker)- The actress is on hiatus but will reappear in early February with a hot new story.

    Wayne Norhrup (Dr. Alex North)- Insiders say he will be back soon (when you least expect it) and the whole truth about him will finally be revealed.

    Matthew Ashford (Jack Deveraux) and Julianne Morris (Great von Amburg)-Morris returned to the show on December 30 to the surprise of many Days fans. Both characters will not be featured prominently on the canvas for awhile (both will still be seen). Insiders say their story is slowly building and will be huge come late Spring.

    Be on the look out for 3 more big returns in February. Also, I need all readers of my fan fic to post a ideal guest list of who they want to see at the funeral for Mickey and Shawn Sr next month. Please post them in the comments section ASAP. I am also gonna be casting another role which I will need your opinions on. Look for more on that soon.     SLI: What was the reasoning behind mentioning a twin sister for Elizabeth if she ended up dead anyway?

    A: Simple. We needed Jack to admit that Billie's accusations that Elizabeth was scheming and plotting to break them up were right. We needed him to acknowledge that so the fans didn't think he was dumb. It proves that Jack always knew that Elizabeth had changed and was using Alex to get to him but he didn't want to admit it to himself. He was hoping she would stop or would see the error of her ways. He gave her the benefit of the doubt, to an extent. That was our reasoning. The implications Elizabeth's death will have on Alex, Billie, and Jack are HUGE!!

    SLI: Where are the October episode counts and where is Anna? Why do some characters seem to put pushed to the sidelines via coma, presumed death, etc?

    A: The episode counts are late and will be posted this week. The balance will continue to get better. We just don't make people presumed dead and put them in comas to backburner them. It's done with the intention of setting up story for that character or to shift focus to the characters we feel need to be focused on at that particular time. It's backburnering in a sense but it's not our purpose behind it. As for Anna, she has some stuff coming up this week and beyond.

    SLI: In what direction are you taking Belle? She hasn't appeared in awhile and she has been doing nothing but supporting story all year. What gives?

    A: We have alot of stories and we're lucky we can fit her in as much as she is. She has been supporting but she is in the top 20 in episode counts, which is pretty good. We are starting to build some stuff for her. She has her family's issues to deal with, as she should, but there are hints of something coming up for her, individually as a character, this week.

    SLI: With all this talk about Lawrence Alamain, is he on the way back?

    A: We want him back and he will be back, at some point. I think the fans can figure that out with the Forrest story going on. I can't tell you when. Fans will have to stick with us to see what happens with that.

    SLI: What is going on with next Sunday's primetime episode? What is it about?

    A: See below and that should help (laughs).

    CASTING UPDATE!!

    Fans may have been shocked when they checked out Wednesday's episode and saw that Fay Walker (Valerie Wildman) had returned to Salem. What gives? "Just another one of our typical surprises," says EP/HW Tim Lowery. "We always do pop-up casting like this. We don't always promote every cast decision ahead. There was a need for the character to return to help Nicole so we brought her back. It was only a one day stint but it could turn into more. We only wish we brought her back sooner as Nicole has been through alot this year but Valerie is available now so we will use her when need be."

    Wildman played Fay Walker from 1999-2003 and hasn't been seen since early 2003. No word yet on if and when she will make another appearance.

    CATCHING UP WITH: MELISSA REEVES (EX-JENNIFER, DAYS AND SL)

    SLI sits down with the actress who played Salem's beloved Jennifer Rose Horton Deveraux and asks her if she would like to come back to SL, how she felt about her characters death, and what she thinks of SL right now.

    SLI: Thanks for sitting down with us. Would you return to SL if asked?

    MR: Thanks for having me! Yes, I would return. I heard they regretted killing me off too! I wanted to leave at the time because my family and I were moving but I have been in contact with SL about returning. I want to. I don't know how we could pull it off. The show isn't in the business anymore of faux deaths and over the top stuff. I mean, a boulder fell on Jen and she had long goodbyes to all her loved ones. It was a fitting farewell. Never say never but alot of thinking would be involved in my return (laughs).

    SLI: How did you feel about your exit and your character's demise?

    MR: It was fitting. The long goodbyes were beautiful. It was all done right and true to history and character. I didn't like how we kept Jen's indecisiveness in regards to Frankie and Jack going until the end where it was all resolved while I was dying but, it actually added even more emotional weight to the scenes so I guess it was fine. I thought it was all handled well and it was great to be a part of such a great story and to be part of the dramatic stamp we put on the island story in 2006.

    SLI: What are your feelings on SL right now?

    MR: It's wonderful because it's character-driven. It's good drama and everything has a direction and a throughline. The realism is great. The adventure stories are still there and so are the umbrella stories. They are just grounded now, which they needed to be along time ago. They are doing a real good job and that is why I want back so bad (laughs).

    SLI: Thanks, Melissa!!

    NOVEMBER 13, 2007-EPISODE #371: A MILLION MILES AWAY PART 2


    SALEM TOWERS

    Maggie is overseeing the preparation for the charity ball to celebrate the opening of the Eric and Samantha Brady Memorial Wing at University Hospital and help fund that and other hospital projects. Maggie orders a few of the caterers and decorators around as her phone rings. She answers it to hear Alice on the other side of the line. Alice tells Maggie they have a problem with Julie. Alice says she has been trying to convince her to come to the ball tonight, saying it's for a good cause, but she refuses. Alice thinks that Maggie could help convince her to go somehow. Maggie tells Alice she will be right there. Maggie barks out a few more orders before telling one of the caterers she is heading out but will be back soon. Maggie races off as the scene shifts to...


    UNIVERSITY HOSPITAL

    Frankie is with Greta when she wakes up. She asks if he stayed all night. He nods and says she was asleep when he got there. He tells her it's a shame since he brought her some ice cream. Greta laughs and says she is sorry but asks why he brought ice cream. Frankie says that Jack told him she always liked Rocky Road so, upon returning to Salem from Vegas, he went and got some to bring to her. He adds that the nurse said it would be ok. Greta apologizes but tells Frankie he can go get it now. Frankie asks about breakfast but Greta tells him to forget that and to try to sneak the ice cream in. Frankie isn't sure but Greta gives him a puppy-dog face, convincing Frankie to go get the ice cream. The scene then shifts to...


    BRADY PUB

    Belle is with Claire when Caroline comes over and asks if she would like anything else to eat or drink. Belle tells her grandmother thank you and says they are both pretty full. Caroline tells Belle she has to go run some errands and to let someone know if she needs anything else. Caroline embraces both Belle and Claire and tells Belle she will see her later at the ball. Belle nods and smiles as Caroline leaves.

    Just then, Philip comes in. Belle asks what he is doing there. He tells her he is picking up some food to take back to work. He needs something different for a change and adds that her family still serves him after all he has done, surprisingly. Belle tells him she heard he has taken on lots of extra responsibility at Titan and that he has turned his life around. Philip says that he needed to and he only hopes that he is being as successful as others make him out to be. Belle says she is glad he has made strides. Philip mentions he has a long way to go to prove himself, especially in her eyes. Belle puts her head down.

    Philip says he wants to be able to have some part in Claire's life. Belle says that won't happen until she knows for sure that he has turned his life around. He is off to a good start but it could still be a fluke. Philip agrees and says he understands and vows to redeem himself in her eyes. Philip tells her he knows it will take alot and he is prepared. He understands the older Claire gets as she doesn't seem him, the more likely she will never call him "daddy" or forge a bond with him. Belle says they have to get going.

    Philip tells Belle he is being serious and that what happened on the cruise ship this summer changed him for the better. He promises to show her that what she is seeing and hearing is the truth and that it's only the beginning of the new and improved Philip she wants to see. Belle smiles and says she hopes so. She picks up Claire. Philip asks if he could just give her a kiss. Belle hesitates but, eventually, agrees. Philip kisses Claire and tells them he will see them around. Belle smiles as she collects her and Claire's stuff and leaves. Philip watches as they leave and tells himself he will only have one chance to get his life back and he can't blow it. Philip then says he couldn't handle failing. It would kill him. The scene then shifts to...


    UNIVERSITY HOSPITAL

    Frankie and Greta are eating the ice cream he bought. Greta can't believe he got it by the nurses. Frankie thinks he picked up a few sneaky pointers from her, Jack, and Billie. They both laugh. Greta tells Frankie she wants to thank him for all that he has done and for being by her side throughout. She knows he has other things to deal with. Frankie says it's no problem and that he wants to. Greta says she is worried about Jack, Billie, and Alex. Frankie calms her, saying it will work itself out. He thinks Jack and Billie will get through this and will help Alex cope.

    Just then. Victor walks in and says he is pleased to see a smile on his daughter's face. He thanks Frankie for being there for his daughter. Frankie says he loves doing it. Frankie and Greta then smile at each other. He tells Victor and Greta he will give them some time alone and promises he will be back a little later. Victor asks if he is going to the ball. Greta asks what ball. Victor fills her in on the charity ball. Frankie says he was going to stay back with Greta but she pushes him to go. Frankie reluctantly agrees but says he will stop by to see her beforehand. Frankie bids them both goodbye, as Victor and Greta do the same to him.

    After Frankie has left, Victor sits down next to Greta and says that is a good guy right there. Greta smiles. Victor asks if there is more going on there then meets the eye. Greta isn't sure. Victor says it seems like it as the guy is breaking th rules and sneaking ice cream in for her. He asks her if she wants it to be more then it is. Greta shrugs and, after a few moments, admits she kind of does and has felt like that for months. She is just afraid to put herself out there. She's been hurt too many times. Victor tells her she is a Kiriakis and a very strong young woman. He thinks it's worth the risk, especially if she is able to have something special if the risk should turn out rewarding.

    Greta asks if Victor is saying she should talk to Frankie about the feelings she has been having. Victor nods, saying if she wants to get somewhere with him, that is the only way to do it because he is in the same boat. He is just as afraid to put himself out there for fear of rejection or losing their friendship. Victor adds that he would have said something already if he felt confident enough to do so. If she truly wants to give a relationship with Frankie a chance, she has to talk to him. Victor tells her the ball is in her court. Greta thanks him and says she is glad that they had the chance to have their first father/daughter heart to heart. Victor smiles as he embraces Greta, saying he hopes it's the first of many. Greta hopes so too, saying she had him pegged wrong. He has already proven himself to be a loving, devoted father to her. Victor thanks her for saying that, saying it means alot. They embrace again as the scene shifts to...


    PIER

    Alyson is walking down the pier, wondering how to get to the supermarket. She wishes Jean were there as she had been handling all that since they arrived in Salem. Alyson sees some officers up ahead who are still looking for Micheal Myers and tries to get their attention but they walk on, unable to hear her. Alyson walks forward and comes across Alex. She excuses herself and asks if he would be able to help her. She asks if he has any idea where the Real Deals Supermarket, saying it's supposed to be somewhere in the area. Alex says he is new to Salem and has no idea, apologizing that he can't help. Alyson thanks him anyways and, noting the solemn look on his face and tears welling in his eyes, asks if he is ok.

    Alex tells her he doesn't want to talk about it. Alyson admits she used to feel that way but, since coming to Salem, she has changed alot. Circumstances forced her too. She tells Alex it does help to talk and tells him she is a good listener. Alex says he doesn't even know her. Alyson laughs and says she knows almost no one in this town either and most of the people she knows she would rather not know. Alex puts his head down. Alyson tells him her mother is in the hospital in coma because of Micheal Myers, saying she blames the police and Salem officials for not handling the situation better. She adds that her mother might not make it. Alex then comes out and says his didn't, saying Myers killed his mother by snapping her neck. Alyson says she is so sorry. Alex thanks her and admits he blames the authorities too but then notes there are two other people he blames...his father and his girlfriend.

    Alyson asks what they have to do with it. Alex tells her they would've never been in Salem if his mother hadn't decided to go after his long-lost father after all these years. He says his father's girlfriend gave his mother hell. He admits his mother brought it on but his girlfriend didn't help matters. He admits to her how he just learned who his father was after all these years and now that is all he has left and he can't even stand to look at him. Alyson admits that her father left her and her mother years ago and she hasn't heard from him since, nor does she care too. Alex tells her he shares that sentiment right now. Alyson is amazed that they both seem to be in similar situations. Myers seems to have affected both their lives and they both hate their fathers right now, despite them being all they have at the moment.

    An officer then walks by. Alex tells her that he may be able to help her find the market. Alyson realizes she had forgotten about that and asks the officer, who gives her directions. Alyson says she has to get going as she has to pick up some stuff and get home to her infant son. Alex is shocked she has a son. Alyson nods, saying he is the light of her life. She wishes him luck and then gives him her phone number to reach her at her hotel room. She tells him to call anytime he wants to talk. She tells him her name as he tells her his and says thank you. She says goodbye to him and walks off as he says goodbye back and watches her as she leaves. Alex then looks back out on the waterfront and sighs deeply as the scene shifts to...


    HORTON HOUSE

    Maggie arrives and sees Alice sitting with Julie in the living room. Alice is trying to persuade Julie to go tonight to the ball but Julie says she isn't in the mood. Maggie comes in and telsl Julie it's for a good cause and reminds Julie she is always the one who says the family needs to stand together. Their family and University Hospital have a long working relationship together and they all need to support and honor the Brady's tonight. Maggie tells her that their family needs to be there and her not being there will cause a void. Julie says they don't need her but Maggie insists she does. She needs her expertise on some things for the ball and adds that it would help her to stop thinking about her problems for one night. Maggie begs her to at least come for awhile. Realizing neither Alice or Maggie is going to give up, Julie agrees to go but just for a little while. Alice smiles as Maggie embraces her and thanks her, saying she won't regret it as the scene shifts to...


    SALEM PARK

    Doug is sitting on a park bench when Caroline walks by, carrying some bags. Doug asks if she could use a hand, to which Caroline says that would be lovely. Doug tells her she shouldn't be walking around alone with everything that has happened. Caroline says the cops are all over after what happened with Myers so there really hasn't been a safer time to walk around. Doug says that's a good point. Caroline asks if he is going to the ball tonight. Doug tells her he received an invitation this morning but admits he is leaving town in the morning so he has alot to do. Caroline asks what took Doug so long, saying she had heard he was leaving weeks ago. She tells him she loves that he is still here but it seems he isn't sold on the idea of going himself. He tells her that Hope has kept him there with her coming and going and all. Caroline doesn't think so and thinks he should go to the party tonight. She tells him to do it as a favor to her and the family his daughter married into.

    Doug tells Caroline that is a mighty big guilt trip. He asks why she wants him there so bad. She says it's for obvious reasons but adds that Julie will be there and he needs to talk to her before he leaves. He needs to make sure he is doing the right thing since it's clear he isn't so sure himself. Doug says he is sure but Caroline tells him to humor her and to prove it. If he is so sure, he will come tonight and talk to Julie and show that he is by how he reacts and deals with that. She says that, at the very least, it gives him a chance to say goodbye to everyone. Doug says he will think about it. Caroline says good and says she has one bit of advice for him and that is to listen to his heart. It will tell him all he needs to do. Doug nods. Caroline then says she has to get a move on to get ready for tonight and then motions to Doug to come on. Doug follows her as they begin to walk faster through the park as the scene shifts to...


    STEVE'S CAR

    Now on Salem, Steve tells Hope they are almost home and then asks if there is the way it's going to be now between them. She hasn't said a word, even when he asked her if the price was right at the airport parking garage when they picked up his car. Hope says she just wants to go home and get on with her life, with her family. She doesn't want to dig in the past anymore. She knew it was a mistake and should've never let what happened to her with Myers push her into looking into the past again. Steve disagrees. Hope begs him to just leave it alone from now on, saying it's for the best. Steve then pulls over and tells Hope he will make her a deal. If she agrees to read the final two diary entries, he will back off. He tells her they should at least complete what they started and notes they aren't at Maison Blanche anymore. It won't affect them as strongly. Hope isn't so sure. Steve says that is the only way he is backing off. Hope finally agrees, saying Steve doesn't leave her a choice. Steve pulls out Gina's diary. Hope turns to where they left off and begins to read:

    Hope: Patch has changed my life so much and now he is my life. Here we are making plans for our future when I never thought of such things before he arrived. I never thought I would have any sort of future outside this room and, today, we began to talk about ways of getting out of here. Patch thinks we can't have a proper relationship here. We can't live our life here any longer so, tomorrow night, we are going to take a leap of faith. We're going to try again to leave this place and to begin a new chapter in our lives. We both agreed our pasts no longer matter. We're not looking back but are looking forward. I love him and he loves me and that is all we need. Hopefully, after tomorrow, we can live out our lives the way we want to. Together. That is the way we both want it. We either both leave her or neither of us do. That is how much I care about him and how much he seems to care about me. Now, more then ever, I feel like what we have isn't just a fling or some sort of phase. I feel like this is forever. I feel like our love will stand the test of time and that it will never die. I hope that tomorrow we can begin life anew...together.

    Steve and Hope both look at each other after she has finished reading, seemingly lost in the moment. Hope then notes that they seemed to have moved closer together as she was reading and says that she is done. She isn't reading the last entry. Steve tells her they had a deal. Hope tells him she doesn't care. She orders him to take her home, to her family. She tells him they can collaborate the story Tony gave Bo and Kayla and then can move on with their lives. Steve tells Hope she is wrong. A fed up Hope then lashes out, telling him to just do what she asked or she will get out and walk. Steve then backs off, starts the car, and begins driving again as Hope looks out the window as tears stream down her face and the scene shifts to...


    DEVERAUX HOUSE

    Billie walks up outside the front door. She hopes that cooler heads can prevail and that Jack and her can talk things out today. She rings the doorbell. Abby answers. Billie and Abby greet each other and she asks how her father is. Abby says he took off early this morning, saying he had things to do before he had to cover the ball for The Spectator tonight. Billie asks if he was upset. Abby tells Billie he is very quiet and she can tell he is a mess but is trying to keep it on the inside. Billie feels bad that Abby has to deal with this right now. Abby says it's fine. She is just worried about her father.

    Just then, Jack walks through the front door. Abby slowly walks up with her cane to her father and embraces him, asking if he is ok. Jack smiles and nods. She asks where he went. Jack tells her that he just went to look for Alex but was unable to find him. Abby apologizes. Billie then appears and Jack and her lock eyes. Jack asks why she is there. Billie tells him she thinks they need to talk. Jack tells her he can't do that right now. He has enough to deal with. Billie tells Jack to let her help. She can be there for him, like she always has. Jack tells her he can't even look at her and that he can't do this with her right now. He tells her to just leave him alone. Billie walks up closer to him and asks:

    Billie: What about us? How long are we going to do this dance where we don't talk and avoid talking about the issues we have? Weeks? Months this time? We have wasted enough time going through this crap, Jack.
    Jack: There is no us, Billie. We're through, ok? There! Now you got an answer to save you some time. Now, you can move on. You get what you want and I get what I want, which won't happen until you leave. So, please do so.
    Billie: Jack! I don't want to move on. I just want to talk and...
    Jack: Just leave, Billie! Just go!
    Abby: Dad!
    Jack: Stay out of this, Abigail. Go, Billie. Please.

    Abby tells Billie she is sorry and takes her hand. Billie nods and embraces Abby, smiling as she turns and walks out the front door. After Billie leaves, Abby asks what the hell is wrong with him and then walks slowly with her cane into the living room. Jack then walks over to the window and watches Billie leave. Billie fights back tears as she turns around and looks back at Jack. She then turns away from him and begins to cry as she walks off and the scene fades to black.

    -High atop the new Titan Salem Towers, Doug and Julie have just walked in with Alice. Julie turns to Doug and tells him that you could cut the tension in this huge ballroom with a machete’. Doug concurs, saying that with what he’s heard, he hopes no one is hurt on this New Year’s Eve.

    -Victor and Roman have a very heated exchange, having to do with their children’s marriage:

    Victor: Claire is Philip’s daughter, Roman! And if he wants to raise her in his manner, who the hell are you to stop him?!
    Roman: I’m Belle’s father, Vic! Neither of my daughters are going to be shoved into something they don’t want. I didn’t raise Carrie, Samantha or Belle that way and I’m not going to start now.
    Victor: Oh, I see. Apparently, the only thing Samantha learned is how to be an evil little [!@#$%^&*] who will destroy anyone to get what she wants.

    Roman grabs Victor by his collar.

    Roman: Look here, old man. You watch what you say about Sami. She’s my child and she knows about the mistakes she’s made. (Letting go of his collar and shoving him) And the last thing I’m going to let you do is talk about her like a dog. As far as Belle is concerned.........she lives her own life. With her daughter. If she wants to bring Claire and live with Marlena and me, that’s just fine. (Walking up on Victor) And if that brat son of yours does one thing to hurt her......you wont EVER find his body, got that.........Vic?
    Victor: Before this night is over, you may have to answer for your transgressions. I hope you are prepared.......Commander.

    Victor walks off and leaves Roman to think about what he just said. Roman gets ready to follow him but spots both Abe and Shane, who has brought Kimberly with him. He pulls both men to the side to have a private conversation, leaving Kimberly with Kayla.

    -Meanwhile, Victor is stopped in the ballroom by Philip. He tells Victor that he wants in on his war with Stefano and the DiMera family and won’t take no for an answer. Victor turns and gives hm a very stern look, telling him that instead of doing a Michael Corleone impersonation, he should be worried about his wife and daughter. He tells him to concentrate on that before he steps up and plays with men. Philip says that Victor needs him right now and that is one of the reasons he came home.

    Victor tells him that something very dangerous is going to happen later and that he doesn’t want him involved. Plus, he says, Philip never wanted to be involved with his dealings in the past anyway. What has changed? Philip tells him that he is sick of sitting on the sidelines and letting people dictate his life. That changes right now and if Victor doesn’t want to let him in.....he’ll do what he has to do. All by himself. Victor warns him to not get into the middle of what’s going on and grabs Philip by the arm. Philip yanks his arm away and storms off. Victor watches him as he walks away.

    -Two men have now entered the party. One is wearing a Yin/Yang authentic mask and the other is wearing a very expensive Chinese mask from the 17th Century. Both men walk around speaking to the guest when the second man spots Roman and cryptically remarks:

    MCF: This should be one hell of a New Year’s Eve for you, sir. (Turning back around) It could also be your last.

    He excuses himself from the first man and then makes his way to a secret corner of the ballroom.

    The first man talks with some of his bodyguards who have accompanied him to this gala event. While he instructs one of the men to secure the perimeter, he tells one of his other guards to make sure no one sees him until the time is right. He then turns around, with his back to the crowd, and removes his mask to make a very important phone call.

    The call.........to his daughter, Alexandra.

    The man? Stefano DiMera, himself.

    Stefano: How are you doing, my dear? Good, good. Now, you make sure you listen to all of the doctors, ok? No. No, don’t worry about me. I didn’t tell you because I didn’t want you here for what is going to happen. Look, I know what I’m doing. I'm sick of these people. These commoners have been ruining my work for years. Now.....they pay. They all pay. If I have it my way......

    No one will leave here tonight....alive. And if I have to, I’ll bury this town, and everyone in it.

    -Caroline watches Stefano stalk off, not knowing who it is that is so excited. She turns to see Hope walking up on Victor, and hears her start to berate him:

    Hope: Victor, I don’t know what you have gotten my husband involved in this time, especially after that madhouse in Sydney, but I swear to God Almighty Himself, if one hair on his head is hurt, I’ll........

    Caroline interrupts the conversation:

    Caroline: Hope, what is going on here? Why are you acting like this in front of everyone?
    Hope: Because, Caroline, I just heard from Bo that he and Victor have some sort of plan for Stefano and it’s supposed to go down tonight.

    They both look at Victor.

    Caroline: Is this true, Victor? My son is wrapped up in some mafia vengeance thing with you?
    Victor: Caroline, you don’t understand and I have neither the time or patience to explain it to you. And, I wish you two would realize that Bo is a grown man! I’m sick of telling you that. He has to make his own decisions in his life and this is one of them.
    Hope: Victor, all I want is for my husband to be safe, so we can get back together and live as a family.
    Victor: Well Hope, maybe you should have thought of that before you ran him out of your home. All he wanted was your support and you gave him anger and resentment.

    Both women are silent.

    Victor: And now, you want him to run back to you like a scared little boy who doesn’t know what he’s doing. Well, that's BS. Let him go back to being a man for God Sakes. And I’ll see that no harm comes to him. Now, if you’ll excuse me..........

    Victor walks away to confer with Nico, his most trusted assistant, while Caroline turns to Hope and says:

    Caroline: He better keep his word. Because if anything happens to my baby boy.........
    Hope: Don’t worry. Let’s find Abe, Shane and Roman and fill them in, ok?

    Both woman walk quickly to find the three men to warn them of the impending doom that may fall on this night.

    -Maggie stops Victor and tells him she just overheard the argument he had with Caroline & Hope. She asks him if it true that he is going after Stefano tonight and Victor’s response is silence. She stares at him and then puts both hands on his arms, warning him to be careful. He steps closer to her and hugs her, saying that it has been a true joy to know her. He tells her he will be careful but also tells her to have a good life and do the best she can........if anything should happen to him. He then turns and is led away by Nico, as Maggie looks on terrified.

    -Victor, Nico and a third man walk past Stefano and his associate, not realizing who it is. But, Nico finally does, and grabs Victor by his elbow and whispers in his ear. All three men then turn around and watch Stefano, whose still disguised, walk towards the corner opposite them in the main ballroom. Victor stares at Stefano and tells Nico:

    Victor: Start getting our men together, and let them know that the devil has ascended from hell......and is here right now. (He turns to Nico) Make sure they are in place when I give the signal. We’ll only have one chance at this so lets make it clean, understood?
    Nico: Yes, sir. Understood perfectly.

    Victor turns to his associate and says:

    Victor: Let’s get out of sight, my friend. We need to find Bo. We have plans to make.
    Associate: Of course, Mr. Kiriakis. This way.

    Both men leave out of an unknown door and into a secret elevator that Victor had installed when the Tower was built, since he funded the Salem Towers project. He and his men know the hour is drawing near.

    -Bo sees Victor and runs up to the door but it closes and locks just as he makes it there. In his frustration, when he turns, he doesn’t see Hope standing close to him. She reaches out to him but he walks right past her. She runs and catches up with him, turns him around, and sternly says:

    Hope: Bo, what are you doing?! Do you know how dangerous this is?!
    Bo: Dammit, Hope! You act like this is the first time I’ve ever faced something like this. Think for a moment, would you? The Three Prisms, Roman’s disappearance on the island, Stockholm, Lawrence Alamain, and just recently Sydney. I think I can take care of myself.
    Hope: I’m not saying that you can’t, Bo. All I’m saying is please, for me and your family, walk away from this. Being with Victor is going to get you killed and I don’t have the strength to say good-bye to you and bury you in your grave!
    Bo: DAMMIT WOMAN! LEAVE ME ALONE!

    Everyone in the ballroom grows silent. Bo and Hope look around, embarrassed. Bo then turns back to Hope, puts his hand on her cheek, and looks at her lovingly. He then steps forward, staring into her soft eyes, and kisses her gently on her lips. She responds and hugs him tightly. They slowly pull away from each other and they stare at each other as Bo slowly turns and walks away. She watches him walk up to Austin and Lucas but does not follow. She only hopes, silently, that her man will live to see tomorrow.

    -Bo ask Austin and Lucas if they are ready to go, to which both reply yes. They say lets do this. Kate, Belle & Sami have tried in vain to stop Austin and Lucas from joining up with Bo and getting involved in this plan of Victor’s. Now, all they can do is watch as all three men walk off with serious determination, looking to join up with Victor, whose associate has been sent to find all three men.

    Marlena walks up to the ladies and asks:

    Marlana: What’s going on tonight? This seems like half a party, half a showdown. What’s with all the tension?
    Sami: I have no clue, Mom. But Victor has gotten Uncle Bo, Austin & Lucas mixed up in something. I just hope they don’t get themselves hurt or worse.
    Marlena: They won’t. Just do them a favor. Stop treating them like children. I heard Victor tell that to Caroline and Hope and I happen to agree.

    Kate sighs and walks off after that comment but Belle looks at Marlena, then at Sami, and then says:

    Belle: Uh, Mom, we don’t want them to get harmed or do harm based on Victor’s word. I really hope you can see that. They don’t belong in this at all.
    Sami: Belle’s right, Mom. That’s why Dad, Abe & Shane are trying to find out what’s going on and put a stop to it.
    Marlena: (Looking At Both Girls) You know, listening to you two whine about this, reminds me of when you two were babies. Damn, let them make their own decisions for God Sakes.

    Marlena shakes her head and walks off, leaving both women shocked at her demeanor during that exchange. They leave to find Roman and fill him in on what’s happening with their mother.

    -Frankie joins Greta on the balcony outside. He covers her up with a coat, to which she thanks him and smiles. When he asks why she’s out there, she replies that she is just wondering about something. When he asks what, she says that she can’t understand why all these people seem to find love and not her. Nicole and Eric have gotten together and gotten married and, once again, she is left with no one.

    Frankie sees her point and asks how does she think he feels having not gotten together with Jennifer before she died. He really digs Jack and thought that once he got his act together he made a fine husband but, for once, he just wants to be number one in a lady’s life. He asks her does she see what he’s saying and she says absolutely. They both then agree to wait for that special someone to come along and no longer be second choice to anyone.

    Then, they shake on it, but take a little time letting go of each other’s hand. They stare at each other for a moment before excusing themselves and returning to the party.

    -Roman sees Frankie re-enter the door and walk over to Kimberly, Kayla and Steve. As he talks to them, Roman turns his attention back to Abe & Shane, who have finished finalizing plans to get everyone out and stop Victor and Stefano from turning this New Year’s Eve into a bloodbath. He sees Victor talking to Caroline and walks over to them both. When he gets there, he asks:

    Roman: What are you doing, Vic? My mother is off-limits to you. I thought you knew that.

    Caroline stands in between them.

    Victor: You know, Roman, that Dirty Harry crap went out back in the 70s, along with that eyebrow thing you constantly do. You may think it makes you intense. I think it makes you look like an ass.
    Roman: Is that so?
    Victor: Yeesss, that’s so. Now why don’t you run along and see what the other children are doing while the grown folks talk. Ok?
    Roman: Old man (Pointing his finger in Victor’s chest) if you don’t leave my family alone, the only thing getting run up in this tower is my boot in your ass.
    Victor: I wouldn’t do that if I were you.
    Roman: Really? Well let’s see............

    Just then, Nico and Victor’s associate are on either side of Roman. The ask, politely, if he could remove his finger off of Mr. Kiriakis before it gets really ugly really fast. Roman slowly puts his hand down and looks at Victor, warning him:

    Roman: Be good, old man. And remember what I said.
    Victor: Commander.......you have a splendid evening.

    Roman walks back to Abe and Shane and witnesses Bo, Lucas & Austin join Victor’s group. He turns to Abe & Shane and tells them, in no uncertain terms, that:

    Roman: Fellas, I hate to say this, but we may have to shoot to kill if Stefano shows up and things get deadly.
    Abe: I agree. We better start getting people out of here and getting our plain clothes men into place. I’ve also ordered S.W.A.T. to be activated in case shots are fired. Roman, you will get your orders from me. When I give the signal......
    Shane: We aim and fire. Gentlemen, this must end tonight. If not.......
    Roman: Then none of us may live to see tomorrow.

    -Celeste has entered the ballroom and looks around to see who has come. She is greeted by most of the party faithful and walks around cheerfully smiling and waiving at friends of hers. When she walks into the main ballroom, she stops dead in her tracks and stares horrifically.

    She sees blood everywhere she looks and paramedics and doctors attending to wounded friends and family. She sees people that she loves crying hysterically and then she looks up to the podium and sees blood on the curtains.

    And then, just like that, a flash occurs............and everything is back to normal. She says horrifically:

    Celeste: Oh, Dear God!! Blood and death!! Please!!! For God Sakes, let this tragedy not happen on this night. Too many innocent people are going to die. (To herself) I’ve got to warn Abraham. (Looking around) Maybe he can stop this.

    The screen once again goes into four separate boxes with Roman, Abe & Shane taking out the guns silently and arming them, Caroline, Hope, Sami & Belle watching the men, Victor, Bo, Lucas, Austin and Victor’s associate toasting a group of men across the ballroom, and Stefano and the Mysterious Cloaked Figure toasting them back.

    The screen then slowly fades to black.

    It is a new day and the cruise ship survivors (with the exception of the still missing Jack and Billie) are now at a airport as Victor is awaiting word on a favor he has called in to help them all get home to Salem...

    -Victor’s cell phone rings. He answers it and, after a brief pause, breaths a sigh of relief. He smiles, as Maggie looks on, and he says into the phone....

    Victor: It’s good to hear your voice once again.
    Bobby Ewing (Salem Lives Guest Star Patrick Duffy): I’m just glad that most of you all made it off that ship alive. Question though, Victor.
    Victor: Go ahead.
    Bobby: How did Orpheus get a cruise ship into the middle of Illinois?
    Victor: (After a brief pause) Don’t ask. Did you inform J.R. of what is going on?
    Bobby: Yeah. We’re trying to take care of some things here before we head to Salem. Someone has been trying a hostile takeover of Ewing Oil and the person is using Westar Oil as a front company.
    Victor: Stefano, you think?
    Bobby: Either him or your boy, Orpheus. After what you told me before you all disappeared, this man sounds very, very dangerous.
    Victor: He is. But he has made several mistakes. One of which was to screw with my family.
    Bobby: Well, you can have Orpheus......for now. My brother and I have a score to settle with Stefano. After what that bastard did to our daddy.....
    Victor: There is that famous Ewing temper of yours, again. Patience, my friend. Together, we’ll get to the bottom of all of this.
    Bobby: Exactly. Victor. I’m sending the Ewing Jet to pick you all up and take you all back to Salem. J.R. and I will follow in due time, as soon as we get this takeover bid under control.
    Victor: Will do. Take care of yourself and your family, my friend. We’ll talk soon.
    Bobby: Yes we will. Take care.

    Bobby and Victor hang up the phone as Maggie asks Victor if that was THE Bobby Ewing. Victor confirms that it was indeed. Maggie tells Victor that he wasn’t lying one bit when he said he had very powerful friends. Victor looks at Maggie and tells her that the Ewing Brothers are just the tip of the iceberg. He’s about to call in some very serious markers and there are some people who are going to pay.........

    And in the only fashion he knows how. A very determined Victor looks over at Stefano and walks off as Maggie stares at both men with fear and dread in her heart.

    Maggie then looks over at Julie, who watching Doug from a distance. Nico stops Maggie and tells her that Julie is not in the best state of mine. Maggie nods, saying she knows. Maggie approaches Julie, telling her that it's all going to be ok. Doug loves her and he will understand. Julie turns around and says she doesn't think he will. They both really screwed up and Julie admits Maggie was right all along. They should've told the truth. Maggie says it's no time for regrets. They just need to try to make amends and hope for the best. Julie and Maggie embrace as Doug watches from nearby.

    Meanwhile, Victor, who is informing everyone that the Ewing jet is on its way, sees Philip and approaches him. Victor asks how he is doing. Philip says the best that can be expected. He is just grateful that he is ok. Victor thanks him for that but tells Philip there is something on his mind that is bothering him. He asks Philip what happened to him after he collapsed and woke up in the cruise ship boiler room. Victor knows he was drugged but does not know what happened to Philip and recalls that Philip did not appear drugged. Philip insists he was and that he passed out shortly after. A few hours later, he received a phone call telling him that his father was behind held against his will and he was directed to go to the cruise ship alone.

    Victor nods and then asks how Philip knew he was in the boiler room when he came to rescue him. Philip says he simply overheard some guards talking about a prisoner. Victor recalls Greta finding out much the same way. Philip asks if there is a problem. Victor smiles and says it's nothing to concern himself with. It's something he can handle. Victor then walks off as a panicked Philip looks on.

    Frankie asks Greta how she is holding up. She says she is fine, given all that has happened. Frankie asks if something went down between her and Victor as she has been a little off since they found them. Greta says she is fine and there is nothing to worry about.

    Abe tells Celeste he is worried about Lexie. She was so angry with Stefano and he thought they finally had her back. Now, she is distant and seems angry with him. Celeste says she noticed that and thinks she is also angry at her. Abe notes that he has approached Lexie about what may be going on but she just walks off. Celeste says they will just have to wait for her to open up...hopefully sooner, rather then later.

    Tony is with Anna. Anna looks at Carrie and tells Tony she wants to comfort her but she doesn't know what to do and say. Tony tells her to just do what comes natural and to speak from the heart. Tony goes over to talk to Lexie. Anna is about to go over to Carrie when Sami, Lucas, Will, and Belle walk over to her, asking her if she and Evan are ok. Anna loses the nerve and walks off. Tony asks Lexie if she is ok. Lexie tells Tony she thinks he may be the only one who understands what she is going through. She embraces him. Tony asks her what is going on with her. Lexie says that now isn't the time. She will tell him when they get home.

    Carrie tells Sami, Lucas, Will, and Belle that Evan is fine for being through so much. Belle tells her that Marlena has been checked out and is exhausted mentally. She has been sedated. Carrie nods. Sami promises Carrie that she has people there for her to help and it will get better. Carrie thanks her but doubts it will ever get better. She then sees Nicole glaring at her. Sami turns and gives Nicole a cold look. Nicole turns away. Sami tells Carrie not to worry about Nicole. She is no longer a threat.

    Kate walks by a silent and stoic Nicole. The two exchange cold glances as Kate tells Nicole no one is going to feel bad for her. Nicole says the same to Kate and reminds Kate they have something in common. They both helped set off a chain of events that got someone they love killed. Kate's eyes fill with tears as she walks off. Nicole fights back tears and then says that the truth hurts.

    Hope asks Chelsea how she is doing. Chelsea whispers to Hope that she knows Billie isn't her real mom but she does care about her and hopes she is alright. Hope knows. She tells Chelsea to be careful as now is not the time for the truth to come out. Chelsea nods as Kate comes over, telling Chelsea it will all be ok. Billie will come home safe as she is a very strong person. Kate tells her they just need to be there for each other.

    Max watches Forrest/Fred continue to comfort Abby. Frankie asks if Max is ok. Max nods but says he isn't sure Abby is. Frankie asks about Fred. Max says he doesn't know much other then Chelsea is suspicious of him too. Max admits to Frankie he has a bad feeling about Fred.

    Roman sits by Marlena, who is laying on a gurney. Caroline comes over, asking how she is doing. Roman says she is still sedated. She is so exhausted mentally and that is why she was in and out of consciousness before they sedated her so she could rest. Caroline just hopes the "real" Marlena is back. They all need her more then ever. Roman agrees. They embrace as Cal watches nearby, seemingly upset over what he is seeing. Katherine puts her hand over his eyes and tells him to guess who. Cal takes her hands down and says he doesn't feel like joking around. Katherine asks if everything is ok. Cal answers that it's just been a rough few days and he has alot to digest. Katherine understands and says she is there to help and tells him to remember that. Cal smiles and says he knows. They are married, afterall. They kiss and then embrace as Cal looks back over at Roman and Caroline.

    Steve asks Bo what the chances are that Jack made it. Bo says it's been so long that it doesn't look good. He isn't ready to lose hope yet. Kayla urges Steve not lose hope either, as does Hope. Steve nods, saying he knows his brother. He is still put there and so is Billie. They just need to hang on to that and just wait for updates. Bo says that is the best way to go and they will continue to monitor things in Salem, as well.

    Victor then announces that the Ewing jet has arrived. Everyone begins to line up for boarding as a man dressed in a black top hat, a black trench coat, and black jeans watches. The man stands to the side. The camera then pans up to show that the man has a mustache and beard and is also wearing tinted glasses. The man then walks further away from the boarding area and removes his glasses...IT'S ORPHEUS!!!

    Orpheus watches everyone board and smiles, saying he has some nasty surprises in store for their homecoming.

    Orpheus: It will be a welcome home they never forget!!

    Orpheus then puts his tinted glasses back on and walks off as the screen fades to black.

    ON THE NEXT SALEM LIVES...

    NIGHT OF TERROR, PART III


    HORTON HOUSE

    As Michael brings the knife down, Lucas slams the door shut and braces himself against it. He then looks at Maggie, yelling at her to get herself and Alice out of the house now. As Maggie turns Alice around, a loud crash is heard and glass goes flying everywhere. Michael has punched through the glass on the front door and starts trying to grab at Lucas as Maggie reaches the back door with Alice. Lucas rolls across the floor as Michael comes crashing through the door, sending glass and wood frame everywhere.

    As Michael stands above Lucas, Maggie takes Alice around the side of the house and puts her in the car. Maggie then runs around to the other side of the car and gets in. As she sits in her car, she looks for her keys.............which she then terrifyingly realizes she left inside the house! Maggie looks at Alice and tells her the grim news as Alice says that they better get out of the car and try to get out of there the best way they can.

    As Maggie reaches for the door handle, she and Alice scream in terror as the door flies open...........to reveal a bloody Lucas standing in front of them. He jumps into the car, with blood running down the back of his right shoulder from a knife wound. He takes out Maggie’s keys and puts them in the ignition as Maggie and Alice yell for him to get going. When he starts the car and puts it in drive,............a huge hand crashes through the passenger car window, trying to grab at Alice. Maggie stops Michael from grabbing her as Lucas guns the engine.........

    And peels out of the driveway. Michael tries to hang on but Maggie and Alice fight for dear life...........and, as both women keep knocking his right hand away, they finally break free of him..........and leave him standing in the middle of the street as he coldly watches the trio drive off into the cold, dark night.


    UNIVERSITY HOSPITAL

    Bo comes running in and heads toward the ER rooms. Roman runs down the hall and stops him from going in, saying that Hope is resting but doing well. When Bo asks how bad she is, Roman says the doctor will be out to fill him in but that it doesn’t look serious. Just then, both men start to see police and paramedics bringing in Kayla on a gurney, with Steve following closely behind. As they take Kayla into another ER room, he joins the other men at the nurses station.

    Abe then walks in and Steve turns to see him. He stops Abe and demands to know.........

    Steve: Who in the HELL was that that who tried to off us tonight, man?!
    Abe: It’s a long story, Steve.
    Bo: Well, we have some time. Fill us in.

    Abe sighs deeply and starts to tell them what happened........

    Abe: Look. You know what happened on Halloween Night, 1978.
    Bo: Yeah. He flipped out, came back to Haddonfield, and started killing people for no reason.
    Abe: That’s not the whole story.
    Steve: GET ON WITH IT, MAN!

    Abe: Ok. Ok, Steve. I was working on the P.D. at the time and me and another officer were assigned to go to Haddonfield, read up on his case, and recommend if he should be locked away in prison or if he should transferred.
    Bo: And what won out?
    Roman: Guess. Based on...........OUR recommendation........

    Steve and Bo look at each other.........

    Roman: We thought he was going to stay at Smith’s Groove until the day he died. I guess some judge thought differently because yesterday he was ordered transferred.........and look where we are now.
    Bo: And you didn’t say anything?
    Roman: Aye, Bo...........how was I supposed to know he would escape?
    Steve: He escaped before, Roman. Damn, man...........he killed 16 people that night. You should have said something.
    Abe: I know, but..........out of sight..........
    Bo: Out of mind. I can see that.
    Abe: Roman........myself, Steve & Bo are going back to the P.D. to coordinate things. You stay here and watch over things from here, ok?
    Roman: You got it, Abe.
    Abe: Ok, let’s roll.

    The three men leave the hospital as Roman sees officers walk in. He says Commissioner Carver deputized him and left him in charge. He instructs them to set up a perimeter around the hospital and to make sure no one gets into the ER area without permission from the hospital staff. As the officers leave, Roman goes to find Marlena, who is sitting in her office finishing up.........

    Roman: Aye, Doc.
    Marlena: (Looking up) Oh, hi..........oh Lord. I’ve seen that look before.
    Roman: Doc, I’ve got to get you out of here and to a safe place.
    Marlena: Tell me what’s wrong.
    Roman: (After a pause) Ok. Michael Myers escaped police custody tonight.
    Marlena: Dear God, no.
    Roman: Yeah. So, we have to go.
    Marlena: Ok. Sure.

    Marlena starts packing up the rest of her things as a officer runs in, saying he’s glad he found Roman. When Roman ask what’s up, the young officer says that he just got a report that someone attacked the Horton's at their residence. Roman asks if they are alright and the officer says that they are on their way, under the orders of Detective Brady, to the Kiriakis Mansion. Roman then looks at Marlena and tells the officer to take his wife to one of the safe houses outside of Salem and to stay there with her until he hears from him. Roman then kisses Marlena and runs out of the room and disappears.

    The officer watches as Marlena gets her things and the two of them race out. The scene then fades to the...


    DIMERA PENTHOUSE

    Stefano watches the news reports on television. He sees that Myers has already caused death and destruction and cryptically comments.....

    Stefano: What a soldier he would have made.

    At that moment, Lincoln comes off the elevator and into the living room, filling Stefano in. He says that the Horton's and Johnson's have been attacked and the hospital is on lockdown. Stefano asks about Cassie. Lincoln says that police are everywhere and that, from what he understands, the National Guard is being called in. Stefano turns and walks towards the window, saying that he tried to tell the people at Smith’s Grove that Myers was dangerous and shouldn’t be moved. But........they wouldn’t listen. He now regrets funding the wing that was being built at the time. He doesn’t want to have any association with people who would carelessly house such a madman.

    As Lincoln shakes his head in agreement, the scene then fades to...


    SALEM POLICE DEPARTMENT

    The three men get out of the car and, as they close the car doors, they look toward the station,.........which is dark inside. They then look at each other and draw their guns as they walk slowly toward the station. They look around to see if anyone has followed them but, apparently, miss the figure dressed in green overalls and a white ghost-like Captain Kirk mask walking very slowly to a car parked down the street from the station.

    As the men enter the station,........they see something that makes their eyes grow wide with shock...........a officer stabbed to death, laying on the floor, blood running everywhere. The three men back each other up as they slowly go from room to room, checking for any survivors. They make their way up to the main squad room.........and the scene is chilling. Five dead police officers lay on top of desks and on the floor and, as they walk into Abe’s office.........

    They see another officer dead on the floor. Steve is the last one to walk in and, as he slowly closes the door behind him,.........all three men jump at the sight. A dead officer.......impaled on the door, eyes wide open. They look at each other as Bo takes out his cell phone and calls the hospital. Abe calls Roman and Steve calls Kayla. Just then, all three men hear something in the outer room. They all hang up and draw their weapons again. Steve slowly places his left hand on the door as Bo and Abe prepare to fire. When Steve pulls the door open..........

    All three men point their guns..........at Roman’s head, who is pointing his gun back at them. The four men breathe a heavy sigh of relief as Steve says........

    Steve: Damn. I hope I have a extra pair of pants and draws in the car.

    The other men breathe heavy as Roman tells them he put cops all around the hospital. He then wanted to come over and see what was up because he tried calling the station and got no answer. He didn’t know that all that had happened. Bo says that from what he read, Michael did the same thing almost 20 years ago when he escaped then. He killed seven officers, who apparently didn’t know what they had ran up against.

    Abe says that they need to get the National Guard and state troopers to the station and tells Roman and Bo to turn the outer offices into a makeshift morgue until the coroner can take the dead officers out. They follow Abe’s orders and Abe and Steve then start going through the rest of the station to see if there were any survivors of this brutal massacre.

    The scene then quickly goes back to...


    UNIVERSITY HOSPITAL

    Cassie gets out of her bed, still recovering from the explosion of the Dimera mansion. Cassie moans and groans, saying she will be glad when she finally goes home after the burns are healed and the infection from her infected wound is gone. She walks out into the hallway and sees all the commotion going on. She looks to her right and sees Alyson bringing Sam into the hospital. After hearing Alyson call Sam by name, Cassie asks her if she is that woman who had Eric's kid. Alyson nods. Cassie then asks what’s going on and Alyson tells her that some nutcase named Michael Myers has escaped and is in Salem right now. She also tells a shocked Cassie that people have been killed and that he attacked Steve, Kayla, Lucas, Alice and Maggie tonight. Before she can say anything, Alyson tells Cassie that she doesn’t know how they are. She just came to the hospital to keep her son safe.

    Cassie agrees it's safe at the hospital and goes back into her room. She starts to get dressed and Alyson sits down in the hallway, comforting Sam. Minutes later, Cassie comes out of her room and goes over to Alyson, telling her that they need to get to where the cops are. Alyson agrees and she and Cassie go to the elevators to take one downstairs.

    The scene then fades to the...


    KIRIAKIS MANSION

    A terrified Maggie helps Lucas bring Alice into the living room. A doctor and nurse that Victor hired goes over and checks all three individuals as Lucas thanks Victor for letting them come there. All Victor wants to know is if they are all ok. Lucas says yes but barely. He then says that he has never known fear like that. He says that Myers is unstoppable. Victor agrees, saying that he’s calling Bo and Roman and telling them what’s going on. Victor picks up the phone........

    And there is no dial tone.

    Victor tries to get his phone working but nothing. He then goes and picks up his walkie-talkie and calls the front gate...........but now, there is no answer there either. When the scene shifts to the front gate..........the guard, who was watching, is slumped over..........and his neck has been broken.

    The scene shifts back to the mansion where Victor calls Nico in and tells him to get Bo, Roman or Abe on the phone and to tell them to get some men out to the mansion........now. Nico races out while dialing his phone as Victor then goes to a door on the far side of the living room. He activates a control panel and the door opens........to reveal a room full of weaponry. Lucas runs over and asks why Victor has this room. Victors looks at him while handing him a gun and says........

    Victor: Why shouldn’t I have it?

    Lucas says they’ll talk about it later as Nico comes back in. He quietly tells Victor that he has called all of their guard stations on the grounds.........and no one is answering. Victor looks at Nico, asking if he got in contact with anyone. He says he reached Bo, who said he’ll tell Roman. He says he had just left the station and is making a u-turn to head to the mansion. Victor smiles, even though he doesn’t want Bo anywhere near Michael. Before Victor can say another word,.........the lights go out in the mansion and on the grounds. Victor tells Nico and Lucas to get the women out of the house. Nico says he will not leave Victor alone. Victor walks up to his most trusted ally and tells him........

    Victor: My friend. All of us are innocents in this. Michael Myers is a psychopath and I want you here...........watching over my family, if anything should happen. Now..........do as I say. Go, go..........

    Victor gently pushes Nico over to the ladies as Nico stares at him with sorrow. Victor then turns to look at Lucas, who does nothing........but hold his hand out. Victor shakes it as both men look at each other. Nico then goes over and picks Alice up, with her saying.....

    Alice: Take it easy now, son. Not as young as I used to be.

    Nico smiles and the four walk into the hallway with Maggie looking at Victor lovingly. She tells him......

    Maggie: I’m a lucky girl. To have had two very wonderful, brave men in my life.
    Victor: Hopefully that bravery will get me into Heaven.
    Maggie: Just do your best, my love.
    Victor: I will.

    They gently kiss and the four walk out the door into the cool night as Victor closes the door behind them.

    He then turns and points his gun in the darkened house. He slowly walks the hallway and, as he walks past a glass window down the hall,...........he sees that it is pushed open. He looks around the corner and continues down the hallway. He comes upon a sight that chills his heart.........one of the maids, dead on the floor, the victim of a deep stab wound in her stomach. He continues down the hallway to the stairs and slowly goes up.

    When Victor reaches the upstairs hallway, he looks both ways before slowly walking down the hall. And the scene then takes a point of view from Victor, looking into each room. The scene then shifts back behind him...........to see the deadly figure of The Shape slowly walking behind him. Victor stops dead in his tracks........as Michael turns and walks into a room beside him. When Victor turns,........he sees no one there. He then slowly takes a few steps back down the hallway.........toward the bedroom Michael walked into. When he reaches the bedroom, he slowly looks into the room.......

    And Michael is gone. As he steps into the bedroom,..........Michael walks up behind him, brandishing his butcher’s knife. He slowly lifts it up over his head and, as Victor turns back around, Michael brings the knife down hard..........

    And is tackled by none other than Roman Brady. Roman jumps back up and is handed a golf club by Victor. As Michael stands back up, Roman hits him hard in the face with the club three times........and Michael is unfazed. Michael stares coldly at Roman as Roman looks at the club and then back at Michael. Michael then reaches out and grabs Roman by the throat and right as Roman exclaims.....

    Roman: OH [!@#$%^&*]!!!

    Michael throws him over the railing and against the wall as Roman then falls to the steps, unconscious.

    Victor then takes aim and fires his gun.......but, even though Michael staggers backwards, he resets and stalks forward. Victor fires again..........same result. Victor fires a third time and misses Michael as The Shape throws his shooting hand to the side..........and stabs Victor deep in his right shoulder. Victor stumbles back and hits the wall and, as Michael moves in to finish him off.............

    Bo Brady jumps over his fallen brother and runs up the stairs. He takes aim and, as he screams......

    Bo: MICHAEL!!!!!!!!!

    Michael jerks his head to see Bo as a rifle shot rings out, hitting Michael and sending him back into one of the bedrooms. Bo looks down at his injured father, who nods his head, and Bo then stalks to the bedroom. He looks inside the room to see Michael standing there and he raises the shotgun once again. He fires seven more times, sending Michael backwards and through the glass door, causing him to fall to the ground below. Bo then starts over to the door but changes his mind and goes to check on Victor.

    Roman stumbles upstairs and both men reach Victor at the same time as they help him up. Bo asks.......

    Bo: What kind of monster is he?!
    Victor: Like to know that answer myself.

    All three men then walk slowly into the bedroom and over to the glass door and, when they reach it and look out..........

    Michael is gone. All three men are shocked at this sight as Bo asks.......

    Bo: Ok. So what do we do now?
    Roman: Get the !@#$%^&*] outta here............ and pronto.

    As the men hear police sirens coming up the way, they quickly exit the house as the scene pans slowly back to the ground below........

    And then to a slowly walking Michael Myers as he now heads toward the city of Salem. As he stalks down the street past the Salem road sign, the scene then slowly fades to black.

    ON THE NEXT SALEM LIVES...

    NIGHT OF TERROR, PART IV


    UNIVERSITY HOSPITAL

    Ninety minutes later, after leaving the Kiriakis mansion, Bo and Roman walk into Victor’s room. Bo asks how he’s doing and a bandaged Victor says it hurts like hell but other than that. He then asks if Greta is ok. Bo says she’s doing fine. But, they had to stop her from getting out of her bed to come and see him. Victor thanks Bo and Roman. Roman says that he has to go check on some people and he’ll be right back. After he leaves, Bo sits down for a moment, saying that he guesses the war with Stefano and Orpheus is put on hold. Victor says it is..........for now. Once this Myers business is dealt with, then the DiMeras get dealt with and, as the scene fades on Victor........

    It goes to an arriving Stefano, who storms right up to Abe in one of the outer hallways. He demands to know how all of this has happened. Abe tells him to ask the D.A. and the judge who let Myers out. As the men walk into the main waiting room, Stefano wants to know what Abe will do about it. Abe says first, he will walk away from Stefano...........before he forgets he’s a cop and, second, he’ll find Myers and bring him in,............dead or alive. As Abe leaves a steaming Stefano, Cassie and Alyson walk around the corner. Stefano and Cassie hug as he asks if she is ok. Cassie says she’s scared but other than that, she’s fine.

    Alyson gives Sam to a nurse and asks if they can look at him. He seems as though he’s burning up. The nurse takes Sam and leaves for the ER as Caroline walks in and hugs Alyson. Jean follows in as well and they both ask how everything is going. Alyson tells them that Myers has done some serious damage. People are either dead or injured. Steve then walks in and confirms what Alyson said. Caroline asks if Kayla is ok and Steve says she is, although she won’t admit how scared she is right now. Stefano says everyone is frightened, to which Steve responds that he’s surprised Stefano isn’t behind this. A shocked Stefano wonders how Steve could think of such a thing and Steve says for him to look at himself and Roman. Two men he tried to control.

    Before Stefano can respond, Bo wheels a groggy Hope out into the hallway. Everyone is happy to see her ok. She says she has Roman to thank. If it wasn’t for him, she might be dead. She then asks if anyone knows where Myers is. Bo says they left him for dead at the mansion but they were wrong about that. Steve then looks at Stefano and asks him how he would have felt if Hope would have been killed tonight. Stefano has had enough and lunges at Steve, who has to be held back by Bo. Lucas, Lincoln, Roman and Abe all run in and separate the men, with Lucas saying that they can resume their fight after Myers is caught. Lincoln agrees, saying there will be more than enough time for everyone to kill each other. Steve and Stefano stare daggers of hatred at each other.

    At that moment, out in the parking lot, Jack and Billie get out of her car and look toward the hospital. They see all the guards and news crews in front, reporting nationally on Myers’ escape and his rampage thus far. Jack thanks Billie for the lift and says this will be a huge story. Billie looks at him, shaking her head and saying that now is not the time for that. She’s surprised he hasn’t rushed over to see how Elizabeth is doing. As Jack looks at her, both Elizabeth and Alex drive up in his Lambourgini. As they get out, Billie throws up her hands, telling Jack..........

    Billie: Damn. Do they have me bugged or something?!

    The duo tell Jack that since they saw the news reports, they both figured it would be safe at the hospital. Jack agrees and so does Billie, reluctantly. The group then walk toward the hospital........

    As a dark figure stalks toward the back entrance. As The Shape slowly makes his way to the entrance......

    Jack, Billie, Elizabeth and Alex push past the police officers and into the hospital. National Guard troops are ordered to the police station. Roman and Abe come downstairs and stop the group, with Abe saying.......

    Abe: There’s no story yet, ok, Jack?
    Jack: Abe, come on now. A mass murderer is loose in Salem, people are turning up dead, one forth of your officers were killed tonight, Myers hasn’t been caught.........and you tell me there’s no story. Be real, Abe.
    Abe: I am, Jack! And I don’t have time for this.
    Roman: And also.........do NOT interview anyone inside. Just be a friend right now, Jack. Not a reporter.

    Alex looks at his father and admires what Jack says next........

    Jack: Then take this for right now (Handing Abe his notepad) and point me in the right direction.

    Roman tells them where family and friends are and the group separates as the scene shifts to..........

    Marlena, who walks in the hallway outside her office with the officer Roman assigned to protect her. The officer says they need to get going or her husband will have his hide. Marlena looks at him and tells him everything will be ok. At that moment, they both hear something down the hall. The officer tells Marlena to wait near the elevators as he goes and checks it out. As Marlena walks down the hall, she does not notice the huge figure standing perfectly still as she passes him. Michael looks at Marlena as she goes toward the elevators........

    And then turns the other way and slowly walks down the hallway...........toward the police officer. Moments later, the officer slowly walks down another darkened hallway. He turns a corner and sees.........nothing. Just a unused gurney. He walks into one of the empty operating rooms and looks around. He then walks over to a light and flicks it on...........not noticing Michael standing inside the room with him. Michael then reaches up..........and turns the light back off. This makes the officer’s blood run cold with fear as he slowly turns around to look toward the doorway. He doesn’t see Michael, who disappears into the cover of darkness. As the officer slowly walks over to the door, he turns his back to Michael...........and knocks over a tool tray. He bends down to pick it up and, when he stands back up, he places the tray on the desk beside him. He then turns the light back on.........

    And comes face to face with Michael Myers!!

    On the other end of the hallway, Marlena keeps looking down the hall, waiting for the officer. She then decides to go down the elevator by herself. As she pushes the button, she hears a loud crash that makes her jump and grab her heart with fear..........

    As the scene shifts to the outside,..........where the police officer has just been thrown through the window. He sails down to the ground below and hits a parked car, blowing out every window on the vehicle in a loud explosion. The dead officer’s eyes are still open as blood runs from open wounds on his body.........

    Especially his cut throat. The scene then shifts quickly back..........

    To Marlena, who starts to slowly walk down the hall. She starts to head toward where the crash came from. She clutches her purse as she slowly steps down the hallway. As she reaches the end of the hallway, she turns...........and sees the window that the officer was thrown through. She slowly walks over to the window and looks out,..........only to see the dead officer laying on top of a car. She gasps in horror at the sight and turns to run............

    And stares cold terror into the blackened eyes.............of Michael Myers!

    Michael reaches out and tries to grab Marlena but she ducks his deadly grasp. She then crawls along the ground and screams at the top of her lungs as she kicks her shoes off and runs down the hallway towards the elevators. Once she makes it there, she bangs on the buttons, trying to get the door to activate. Michael then turns and stalks down the hallway toward Marlena. She is using all of her strength now, crying and screaming for the damn door to open. Michael is close to her and, as he nears a terrified Marlena...........the door opens...........

    And in slow motion, out steps one Stefano DiMera, brandishing a gun!

    Marlena grabs onto Stefano as he takes his deadly aim........and fires at point blank range at Michael, once again, sending him down to his knees and then backwards,........as he collapses to the floor. Marlena faints in Stefano’s arms and he picks her up and carries her onto the elevator.

    Once the doors open to the ER floor, Stefano carries an unconscious Marlena to a gurney, calling for help. Doctors and nurses rush over and Marlena’s family and friends rush over to see what has happened. Roman and Abe walk in and Roman asks what Stefano did to his lady. Stefano simply says.....

    Stefano: I saved her life, Roman. That maniac was about to kill her. I was on my way up to look for Cassie when I heard her screaming.
    Roman: You expect me to believe that?
    Stefano: I don’t give a damn WHAT you believe.

    Roman walks over and stares directly into Stefano’s eyes. Abe then slowly walks over and stands next to him, followed by Steve and a returning Bo. Stefano is joined by some of his men........

    And Orpheus, of all people, who stands behind his newfound father. Everyone stares at each other and, after a few very tense moments,..........Roman nods his head at Stefano, who accepts his thanks by nodding back. At that moment, Tony, Anna and Max walk into the hallway. The men slowly disperse and Orpheus disappears around the corner. Abe says that Michael is in the building. Bo sees that and, as Hope is wheeled out into the hallway, he turns and tells Lucas that he has to get the women out of harm’s way.

    Lucas says he’ll take Maggie, Alice and Caroline out of Salem until they find and stop Myers. At that moment, the Commander of the National Guard Division that is in Salem walks in, telling the group that his men will evacuate as many people as possible. Abe thanks him and the Commander orders his Colonel to snap to it and get it going. The Colonel gets on his radio and starts ordering his men to start evacuating the hospital. Hope is wheeled out and her and Bo hold hands. They look lovingly into each other’s eyes...........because they know this may be the last time they see each other. After Hope is pulled away, Marlena is brought out. Roman walks over and kisses her on the forehead and she is then taken away. Kayla is wheeled out and sees Steve, who walks over to her and simply says......

    Steve: You take care, Sweetness. And know this..........I love you so very much.
    Kayla: I love you too, baby. I’ll see you soon.

    The nurse wheels Kayla away as Jean runs into the hallway. She is looking for Alyson, who then comes around the corner. Both she and Cassie are crying as Stefano runs up and grabs Cassie. He asks both girls where they have been and Cassie calms down long enough to answer........

    Cassie: Well, we got on an elevator and got off on the wrong floor. I had to go back up to my room, and Alyson went with me. We were walking in the dark........when we saw this huge man with a white mask walking down the hall. We ducked into a room and closed the door. The man stopped at the door.........and tried to open it. He opened it a little ways......and then must have heard something because he let the door close and walked away. Oh, Grandfather.........we were so scared........

    Stefano grabs Cassie and holds her while Jean goes and takes Alyson into her arms. She tells Alyson that they have to get out of Salem until this man is caught. Alyson agrees and Jean starts over to the elevators. Alyson walks close behind her but, after she pushes the button, the door opens.........

    And reveals a bloody Michael Myers standing in front of Jean!

    Jean lets out a scream as Michael grabs her by the head........and throws her against the elevator wall behind him. The door slowly closes as Michael grabs Jean’s head........and starts smashing it against the wall. Alyson lets out a ear-piercing scream and the men come running towards the door........but the door closes. Roman orders his men to get to each elevator opening and, as he pulls his gun and takes off running, Alyson collapses into Cassie's arms.........

    As the scene slowly fades to black.

    2008 PREVIEW EDITION OF SL INSIDER (WEEK OF JANUARY 7, 2008)

    SPECIAL REPORT: 2008 PREVIEWS!!

    "After an adventurous and action-packed 2007, things will shift in a different direction in 2008," says EP/HW Tim Lowery. "My partner and I feel it's a good time to focus on more emotional, family/traditional-type stories. That is not to say we still won't have adventure too but the first month or so of 2008 will be like nothing we have ever done. It's very emotional and can't miss. We will also begin building a HUGE umbrella story that will tie up alot of loose ends and that is filled with mystery, intrigue, and some returns as well."

    Bo/Hope/Steve/Kayla: "The aftermath of what happened on New Year's Eve will dominate the early part of the year. Bo and Hope's trust issues that seemed solved come back to the surface. Her infidelity and discretion present the biggest test Bo and Hope have faced and the consequences of the secrets that were kept and how they came out will affect many lives. Shawn will also fit into their part of the story down the line, as will a face from Bo's past. Meanwhile, Steve and Kayla face a similar plight. Kayla and her baby are at great risk and Stephanie can't even bare to look at her father. Steve is in for the fight of his life as he faces one of the greatest challenges of his life."

    Roman/Marlena: "Roman in in jail for Orpheus' murder and Stefano is pulling all the strings. Marlena and the Brady's will fight like hell to save him while Roman finds himself being overcome by memories of his past, so much so that he becomes immersed in it. That will play a key role in our big umbrella story this year."

    Jack/Billie: "Billie's life spirals out of control as she falls back into bad habits to deal with all the problems and revelations she has dealt with of late. Jack knows something is wrong but Billie continues to push him away. He is still determined to save her and to find out what is wrong. Kate and Miranda's relationship will come into play hugely here after Kate tries on her own to save Billie. She finds herself making things worse once again and having to turn to the last person she wanted to ask for help-her estranged sister."

    Frankie/Greta: "Frankie has confessed his feelings but Greta hasn't, not wanting to jinx it. That is pivotal in January as Greta races to tell a critically injured Frankie how she feels. They have some really beautiful stuff coming and it's classic love story stuff. Greta has finally found her happiness and so has Frankie. It's going to be an emotional journey for the characters and fans."

    Sami/Lucas: "Lucas is in a whole lot of trouble after Joelle's murder and things get worse when he is linked to other crimes. Sami launches her own crusade to prove him innocent and teams up with a shocking ally. Meanwhile, a paranoid Will begins to question his sanity."

    Alyson/Belle/Philip: "Philip and Alyson's drunken night of passion was supposed to be nothing more then a one night stand yet they can't stop thinking about each other. Philip's world will get rocked when he learns a shocking bit of info and he will also find himself involved in a world of trouble when he is under suspicion of a crime. Fate will keep bringing Alyson and Philip into each other's orbit while a case of the green eyed monster strikes Belle."

    Abby/Max: "They are together and are supporting each other. They will try to have a normal relationship but shocking info Forrest brings to them will rock their world. They will face a new threat and will be quite involved in the big umbrella story too, while also being involved with their families."

    Abe/Celeste/Lincoln/Lexie: "After Lexie gives the ok, Abe and Celeste will decide to embark on a relationship but it might not be as easy as they had hoped. Meanwhile, Lexie is back at the hospital and begins her surgical rotation. She will find herself striking Lincoln's fancy and a bond begins to develop."

    Tony/Anna/Stefano/Cassie: "Stefano learns of Lexie and Tony working together to bring him down and "fix" the Dimera dynasty, leading to them having to face down his wrath. Cassie turns her back on Tony and Marlena and is closer to Stefano then ever. Meanwhile, Anna and Carrie try to bond and proves how far she will go for her daughter."

    Victor/Maggie: "Victor and Maggie try to plan their future while also supporting and helping their family and friends. Victor's plans for Philip will be uncovered. There will be a big complete cast event in February as all of Salem gathers for the opening of Maggie's club."

    Nicole: "Nicole is in hiding as her list of enemies grows. She encounters someone who she thinks was sent from Eric and this person brings Nicole to a point where she realizes how far she has gone...but it may be far too late for redemption."

    Jean: "Jean and Alyson are on the outs and Jean will do anything to get back into her daughter's good graces. Expect her to strike up a shocking alliance and she still has at least one more skeleton in her closet."

    Mike: "He is sticking around Salem for awhile. His explained his reasons for doing so to his family...but is there another reason he purposely left out? There is more to this then meets the eye."

    Big Umbrella Story: "The seeds have been being planted for months and the buildup begins fully in January. It's a slow moving story to start but once it gets going it will involve a good deal of the cast and some big returns. It will answer alot of questions and will bring a finality to several ongoing stories. It's exciting, adventurous, and is truly edge of your seat drama that can't be missed. We are excited about it."

    Two Returns: Setsiders report that two familiar faces will return in January. See 2008 previews for more.

    Arloa Reton (Joelle Young): Reton last aired on January 2 when Joelle succumbed to her injuries. Reton has been recurring as Kate's secretary since 2002 but had been MIA for a lengthy period until being trust into a story with Lucas in August. "We loved her and the fans loved to hate her," says EP/HW Tim Lowery. "She will be missed."

    WHO'S STAYING

    Kale Browne and Jaime Lyn Bauer (Bill and Laura Horton): Both characters will be sticking around for a little while longer as Bill deals with his son, Lucas' (Bryan Dattilo), legal troubles. They have both been placed on recurring status.

    Patsy Pease (Kimberly Brady): Pease is sticking around a while longer to support her family through their current troubles. She has been placed on recurring status, much like she was in 2007.

    Judi Evans (Adrienne Johnson-Kiriakis): While Justin (Wally Kurth) has left, Adrienne is sticking around a bit to support her brother, Steve (Stephen Nichols), and his family. She has been placed on recurring status.

    Christie Clark (Carrie Brady-Reed): As previously reported, Clark is remaining on the show for an indefinite period of time and is recurring.

    Micheal T. Weiss (Mike Horton): As previously reported, Weiss is sticking around indefinitely and is on recurring status.

    Jake T. Austin (Joey Young): Joelle's son is going nowhere and setsiders say that fans should expect to see more of the young actor in 2008.

    JANUARY 7, 2008-EPISODE #409: FREEDOM


    UNIVERSITY HOSPITAL

    Mike tells everyone that Frankie survived the surgery........but his spleen was removed. He can live a normal life without it. Caroline asks if her son is going to survive and Lexie looks at Mike and steps forward, saying that with the injuries that he sustained that the chance for blood clots and other complications are high. Kimberly wheels into the waiting area, saying that everything is ok at the Pub. Max and everyone else fills her in on what took place and she can’t believe Nicole hasn’t been picked up yet for attempted murder. Kimberly adds that Roman can sit in jail but Nicole can walk free.

    The Brady's then take a slow walk to the I.C.U. and see Frankie laying still in his bed, with machines helping him survive. As Caroline cries on Bo’s shoulder, Bill and Mike walk up and tell them that Kayla and the baby are stable and she is resting in her room.

    That is when Bo tells Bill and Mike he’s surprised that they are still there. When Bill asks why, Bo says that Lucas was arrested tonight..........

    On rape and murder charges. Bill and Mike look at one another in shock as Bill says he’s going to the station to help his son. As Bill races down the hall, the scene shifts......


    SALEM POLICE STATION

    Carrie and Will walk in. Lucas is brought in dressed very nicely and Will gives his father a hug. As Lucas thanks Carrie for bringing Will in, Kate walks in in a huff, saying she wants to know why Lucas or no one else called her. Lucas answers, saying that he’s already looking at life. With her there, he didn’t see the need to sign up for the death penalty. Kate rolls her eyes and Lucas says that is exactly what he’s talking about.

    All she can do is throw her hair back, roll her eyes and treat everyone like they are so much crap on her shoe. Well.........time for her to know where they stand with each other. She can truly go straight to hell. Period. End of story. Kate says that no matter what, he is her son, and she will always be there for him, which makes Lucas agree. She will be there.......just like having herpes. Kate is silent as she looks around, turns and leaves.

    Once outside the office, she calls both Philip and Billie but gets no answer from either one. Carrie walks out, saying she is off to Roman’s arraignment. Right before she leaves, Patricia walks in, smiling. She tells everyone that Lucas is facing nine counts of rape. Kate says that this is absurd and Patricia answers, saying that these Midwestern rapes that have been occurring have now been linked to Lucas.......with the evidence that she has found in his apartment, including news articles, a black outfit, and other items........

    That will guarantee that this member of Salem’s finest family spends the rest of his life......behind bars. As everyone looks around shocked, the scene once again switches......


    MOTEL ON SALEM'S EAST SIDE

    Philip and Alyson wake up at the same time and look at each other. Both are hung over but still can’t believe what they did the previous night. They both slowly get up and start getting dressed, as they wonder what to do next. For his reputation, they promise to each other that whatever happened will stay their secret. They both then say that unwinding really felt great the previous night. As they finish getting dressed, they smile at each other and then leave separately. As each of them drive in the opposite direction, they wonder if what they did will affect them.....and if so, how. The scene then shifts to...


    SALEM COURTHOUSE

    Several hours later...family and friends sit in nervous anticipation for the proceedings to begin. Sami is helped into the courtroom by Max while Marlena sits in the front row. Sami and Marlena take each other’s hand as Sami tells her everything will be fine. Carrie, sitting on her other side, and Belle also encourage her to stay hopeful. As everyone sits still, the judge comes out and as he sits down, Roman is led in. He looks at the standing room only crowd that came to support him......his family, brothers and sisters, and longtime friends. He smiles at everyone and waves, as he and Marlena take each other’s hand. He kisses her on the cheek and then sits down, as Patricia calls the court to order.........

    Patricia: Your Honor........the defendant that sits before you today.......was once one of Salem’s finest. This court recognizes the many sacrifices that he has made in the line of duty......but, that does NOT excuse his wanted and blatant act of murder that he committed on the evening in question. After engaging in a fight to the death with a citizen of this community, he willfully caused his death by firing his personal weapon at a jetliner........causing it to crash on national television and burst into flames, killing both of the occupants and the flight crew in the process.

    It is my duty to inform the court........that this man, Roman Brady, be held without bail.......for four counts of murder.........in the first degree. If not, it will send a message that he and others like him are above the law.........and I hope that the court will grant this action.

    As Patricia sits down, smiling, Roman’s lawyer stands, but he says something shocking........

    Lawyer: At this time.......I use the right to recuse myself from these proceedings.

    Everyone gasps as the judge calls order and, at that moment, all eyes turn to the doorway......as Stefano walks in with Cassie, arm in arm. They sit at the back of the courtroom and, as everyone stares hatred at the pair, the judge asks Roman’s lawyer why he is doing this. The lawyer responds.....

    Lawyer: Because I was instructed to.......by Roman’s new attorney.

    In walks a very beautiful woman.....who sends chills down Patricia’s spine. The new lady lawyer looks at Patricia and says.....

    Special Guest Star Layla Ali: Nice to see you again.......Patty.

    Patricia doesn’t say a word, as the new lawyer introduces herself as.......

    Diana Winters, Roman’s new lawyer.

    The judge is very impressed, knowing that she is a partner in one of the country’s biggest law firms.......and is on Victor’s personal payroll. Roman turns and looks at Bo, who simply smiles back at him and nods his head. Roman silently says thanks to his brother, as Linda proceeds.....

    Diana: Your Honor.........my colleague was indeed right. This man has sacrificed a lot for his duty of being a police officer in Salem. I would like to enter into evidence Exhibit A......a picture of what this man looked like 24 years ago. His face was surgically altered by one of Salem’s........and the world’s......most notorious crime bosses. His memory was erased and he was separated from his family for many years. In 1991, a ruse was perpetrated on him.....when another man claiming to be the REAL Roman Brady surfaced and he lost everything that was dear to him.

    Well, over a year ago, he regained that which was stolen from him.......only to have a man who had once blew up his home.......with his wife, Marlena Evans Brady inside, no less.......and has, just recently, been responsible for the kidnapping and supposed death of his daughter, Samantha.

    Everyone is listening intently, as Diana continues......

    Diana: And now, when he had been pushed to the edge......when he felt that the man responsible would once again gain his flight to freedom, not answering for the crimes against the people of Salem......he took action. Anyone......who has been through what this man has been through, surely would have done the same. And, I ask the court to consider all of this....

    As it makes it’s decision. I thank you.

    Diana sits down as everyone on Roman’s side applauds and the judge once again calls order.....and threatens to clear the courtroom.

    Patricia stands and asks for a rebuttal. As the judge grants it, she says.....

    Patricia: Is this the same man who, with his brother’s help, his best friend’s help, and the help of one Alice Horton, escaped from this same jail over 25 years ago when he was rightfully arrested for the Salem Stranglings?

    Diana stands and counters.......

    Diana: Yes, he escaped......to prove his eventual innocence! He was almost framed for those murders, murders that were committed not by him......but by one Andre DiMera, nephew of crime kingpin Stefano Dimera......

    Who arrogantly sits in this court today!

    The judge calms both women down and reminds them to act civil in his courtroom. As both women stare at one another and sit down, the judge announces that he has heard everything and will now render a judgment......

    Judge Hardcastle: Well, both attorneys make very compelling cases. Please stand, sir.

    Roman stands and looks at the judge.....

    JH: And, I must commend you, Mr. Brady, on your many years of service to the people of Salem. That does not weigh lightly in my decision. You have saved these people time and time again.......and at the risk of your own personal safety.
    Roman: Thank you, sir.
    JH: But.........one of the things that really counts against you, sir, is the escape that occurred all those years ago. Even though you eventually gained your freedom, we simply cannot have one person who.....for whatever reason.....feels that they can use the law as they see fit.
    Roman: I understand, Your Honor.
    JH: And therefore, because of that, I have no choice sir........

    But to deny bail at this time.

    Everyone gasps in shock as the bailiff takes Roman by the arm. Marlena reaches out to him but they are separated too quickly. Sami is being comforted by Belle and Carrie as Bo and Abe stare at a smiling Stefano and Cassie. Tony then storms over demanding to know why Cassie came there today. Marlena stomps over, wanting to know the same answer.

    Cassie tells them both that they never have been parents and she has never been a mother, so Cassie owes them nothing. Tony tells Stefano that if he finds out he had anything to do with this.......and Stefano tells him to watch who he’s threatening. Diana walks over and says Patricia won this battle but that she doesn’t fight battles.......

    She wins wars. Linda walks off and tells Marlena she will be in touch later on today and Bo tells Stefano that this isn’t the last of anything. Stefano agrees. He says the last of it will end....

    Stefano: With Roman Brady locked away.......FOREVER!!!!!

    Stefano laughs as he walks Cassie out the courtroom and leaves a tearful yet defiant Marlena seething with anger.......

    And plotting her revenge. As the scene freeze frames on her tear-stained face and slowly fades to black.

    ON THE NEXT SALEM LIVES...

    NICOLE MAKES A DISCOVERY AND...WHERE IS BILLIE?!
