  1. On top of that, I just read that PBS and Bloomberg will no longer distribute his show. IOW, Charlie Rose's career is over. This is all starting to remind me of Chekhov's "The Cherry Orchard" and the recurring, off-stage sound of trees being chopped down and cleared ("the sound of a string breaking," as it's written in one translation) as the family who owns the orchard realizes (or doesn't realize) their entire way of life is disappearing. Whenever another notable gets exposed as a sexual predator, it's like hearing another string break. ETA: I'm hearing that CBS is looking to Oprah to fill Rose's chair on "CBS This Morning," if only temporarily.
  2. Now we see why the Scientologists told him he hadn't "gone clear."
  3. I'll say now what I said back then: if Bill Clinton did, indeed, force himself on Juanita Braddock and Kathleen Willey, then he needs to pay for those crimes and whatever other crimes he has committed against other women and men. Whether he pays by man's law or God's law or both makes no difference to me. But the fact remains that Bill Clinton left the WH not only having extinguished the national debt, but with a surplus in the bank as well. An immoral character, yes, but also, a pretty darn good president.
  4. Let's hope Bill Moyers was too busy drinking and driving to grope any women or force himself on them. I can't BELIEVE I just said that. Probably. Which is a shame, in a way, because I thought "CBS This Morning" really had something going with him, Norah O'Donnell and (yes, even) Gayle King. Damn. Say it ain't so, Charlie.
  5. Barack Obama and whoever it was at NBC who gave Donald Trump his own reality series are the reasons why we have Donald Trump. But people would rather say "Bill and/or Hillary Clinton" than admit they hate Black people and love reality TV stars. No, I'm not! I'll vote for conviction no matter what! "He might not have done THAT, but trust me, that mofo's guilty of something!"
  6. Between Monicagate and the O.J. Simpson case, the mid-to-late-'90's were 100% pure hell. Both were very public, very tawdry scandals that literally consumed all airtime (and in the case of the latter, was at least partially responsible for the decline of soap operas in this country). Of course, before all that, we had the LAPD/Rodney King mess, something ELSE we couldn't seem to get away from, no matter how hard we tried. Yes, it is. And really, where does it come from? Where or when did it get its start? That's what I'd like to know. Because, to me, it seems like people hated them from day damn one. And the irony, from what I understand, is that Anita Hill didn't even WANT to talk about the harassment. She wasn't breaking down any doors to be heard, because it was just that embarrassing to her; so they came to her (right here, in Oklahoma) and basically pressured her into testifying. All she wanted from the very beginning was to be left alone, but instead, not only did the panel not believe her, they literally shamed her for attempting to besmirch Clarence Thomas' "good name" in the first place.
  7. He must've been under the assumption that his last name was "Thrust," and not "Thrush."
  8. What I couldn't stand the most about Lena was her so-called defense against critics who asked why her show featured no POC. I can't remember her exact words, but the gist of her argument was, "I don't include POC on my show, because I haven't been around many POC, so I don't think I would capture their perspectives accurately." Okay, fair enough. But your show IS set in Brooklyn, which is not exactly "Leave It to Beaver"-ville. And you haven't been around many POC? Again, you live in NYC. What does that say about you when you live in one of the most racially, ethnically, and culturally diverse cities on Earth and you're STILL so insulated? Have you ever tried to get to know us, understand "where we're coming from"? And if you really cared at all about including POC on your show (which she did, later on, and from what I have been told, rather half-heartedly) and representing us fairly and accurately, then why not hire young, African-American women, or other WOC, to work on your writing staff? Heck, Issa Rae, I think, would have been PERFECT for "Girls," both as a supporting player and as a writer/producer. It's the same criticism I have lobbed against Woody Allen in the past whenever it comes up that he doesn't include POC in prominent roles (meaning, something other than maids and whores) in his movies: acknowledging that you know nothing about us does not automatically give you a pass to exclude us from your work. We don't have to be the lead in your movies and TV shows, but dammit, we don't have to portray the maid, the whore, or the "big, Black, beautiful buck" of a personal trainer with only one line either.
  9. Yes. She. Did. I, for one, cannot stand Lena Dunham. She is elitist, racist, and worst of all, unfunny.
  10. That poor kid. (The teenager, not Ralph Shortey.) It should come as no surprise to anyone that Shortey, as an OK state senator, was staunchly conservative and anti-LGBT.
  11. As they say on all the RH shows on Bravo: "Bloop."
  12. Here, Russell. I got this seat just for you. (Fortunately, I didn't buy it with one of your fake pre-paid cards.) Boo...wait for it...hoo.
  13. Some say that's because they hold elections on a workday rather than give people that day off or hold elections during the weekends. Others (who are more cynical) say it's because everyone in politics is dirty and that no matter WHO wins the election, they'll never truly represent the people who put them into office. Me? I'll admit that I stayed away from voting was because I didn't want to be called into jury duty. Okay, what's going on with Sean Hannity? None of his Twitter feeds make any sense without some context.
  14. Barack doesn't NEED to come back. He worked his ass off for eight years. He has more than earned his rest; and if we're feeling remorse now, well, that's our own, damn fault. 'Cuz he tried.
  15. To the surprise of absolutely no one, this is NOT the first time Wes Goodman has been busted. (IDK why, but for some reason, this particular story fascinates me.)
  16. I'm from Oklahoma. I'm used to the freaking cold.
  17. What the hell was Gene Simmons doing at Fox News in the first place? I always thought Christian conservatives looked at him and KISS as doing the devil's work.
  18. But seriously, folks, pay no attention to Gordon Gekko. I am SO moving to Ohio.
  19. It's just like what @marceline has said: the Republicans, when they are in power, always wreck the economy. Always.
  20. I came across this story earlier this evening thanks to one of my friends on FB. The part that irks me, of course, is his calling the affair "inappropriate conduct." If, by "inappropriate conduct," he means that he was wrong to cheat on his wife at all, or that he was wrong to do "on company time," so to speak, then okay, I'm fine with the language. But something tells me that's NOT what he means by "inappropriate conduct." Oh, well. At least it was consensual, with someone who was age-appropriate and not working FOR him or alongside him. So, when Wes is ready to come out officially, we'll be here and all will be forgiven (...I guess).
  21. Agree. So much for "The Al Franken Decade."
  22. Oh, God, not Al Franken, too?!
  23. I hope Kevin's new co-workers at McDonald's, where USA Today is prominently sold, are giving him a REALLY hard time over that article.
  24. I know.
