  1. Agree. Now, I'm no scientist or medical professional. However, IMHO, I think we're witnessing the birth of a new, HIV-like, chronic condition -- meaning, once you are infected with the coronavirus, you carry it for the rest of your life. Of course, if and when they do develop an effective vaccine, those who haven't had the virus will benefit from it. However, for those who've been exposed already, the vaccine won't do any good (and in fact, I predict that many who've had the virus will die after receiving the vaccine, thereby proving my theory correct). Those individuals who have had the virus will have to maintain some sort of anti-virals regimen to keep the virus dormant within their system -- again, for the rest of their lives. In the end, though, everyone who has been exposed will succumb to complications due to the virus. In the meantime, this will affect both available blood and organ supplies, as (just like with HIV) those who have been exposed to the coronavirus will be unable to donate either, for fear of passing the virus along to others. And, as I've said before, those who carry the coronavirus will eventually be declared disabled, thus putting even more people on the Social Security Disability, welfare and other "entitlement" rolls. To put it another way: yes, the middle class has effectively been erased, leaving America with a new and larger "welfare state." I always felt like this nation would have to pay one day for putting a man like Donald Trump in charge. And now, the bill has come due.
  2. Agree. Of course, the damage he'll leave behind will be almost insurmountable. But, gotta start somewhere, right?
  3. No way are we, as guns-and-freedum-lovin' American citizens, gonna social distance 'til 2022. We're already on the edge, and it's been only a month!
  4. "Coronavirus: Take It Like A Man!" This message has been brought to you by Brazil Department of Tourism. AFAIC, the media can kiss my fat, gay, black ass. You think Donald Trump's daily briefings on (his boasting of his "perfect" handling of) the coronavirus are dangerous and shouldn't be televised live or at all? Well, you knew what you were getting yourselves (and the rest of us) into four years ago, when you provided oxygen to the man's hints, allegations and outright lies. We are where we are, because, by your estimation, Hillary Rodham Clinton had to be stopped. So, as Julia Sugarbaker would say, if things haven't turned out as you expected, then you have only yourselves to blame.
  5. Agree. Who knows? Perhaps, one of the remaining soaps could use him now? Hell, he could even be another one of Brooke Logan's many, many, MANY conquests on B&B!
  6. Theatre director and teacher Wynn Handman, whom Susan Lucci thanked in her Emmy speech, has died from the coronavirus. He was 97. https://www.nytimes.com/2020/04/14/theater/wynn-handman-dead-coronavirus.html?action=click&module=Well&pgtype=Homepage&section=Obituaries
  7. Philip Brown (a.k.a. Buck) will remain my number-one soap crush forever. That is all.
  8. Oh, Lord, @ChitHappens. I'm definitely praying for you and your family this afternoon. Please keep us posted on your brother's status in the meantime.
  9. Not to mention, Tom Eplin sexually harassing several of the actresses, and Christopher Goutman's romp with Jennifer Landon.
  10. I pray it isn't number one. Because, if it is, then what are those who don't carry the virus supposed to do? Are we gonna have to wear gloves and masks and practice social distancing forever? Unless someone develops a vaccine, we may NEVER get back to "normal."
  11. I've always said that turning Barbara into a villain and a loon after she was disfigured in that fire was a mistake. If anything, they would have been better off having her die in that fire (which was Hogan Sheffer's actual, original plan, if I'm not mistaken).
  12. IA. Between the time J.R. and his thugs ran Val out of Dallas, and when Gary and Val finally reunited and moved to Knots Landing for a fresh start, almost anything could have happened to Gary. I mean, we saw, on KNOTS, a similar suggestion between Val and Cricket's father. Gary could have fathered another child or two in the interim. (I doubt he was celibate all those years without Val, lol). Hell, he could have even killed someone while driving drunk, and then years later, someone who was at that scene recognizes him, blackmails him, etc.
  13. Thank you, @DramatistDreamer, @Huntress, @I Am A Swede and others, for keeping us all informed on how the coronavirus outbreak has affected life globally. From my perspective, the U.S. media doesn't focus enough attention on how the virus has devastated people outside our borders. Oh, and everyone would be wise to ignore the poster who keeps coming around here and inciting drama with his racist and off-base assumptions.
  14. Not to take anything away from the legendary Miss Mary Stuart, but...we coulda had "Baby June" as Meta Bauer?
  15. Same. Like I said upthread, I just don't believe this country could tolerate ANY leader who isn't a white, (pseudo-)Christian male. Disgraceful, yes, but those are the facts.
  16. IKR? It's tragic how the last four years have brought us to the moment where everything is riding on Joe Biden and Ruth Bader Ginsberg staying alive through November and beyond. Donald Trump and his ilk have destroyed America so much.
  17. Translation: Stop blaming the Chinese for the "Chinese virus"; and start blaming your damn selves for this mess. Exactly. I don't trust that the government has done or will do everything it could to contain the coronavirus once and for all, because as far as the Imogene Salingers who control our government are concerned, this virus is killing all the right people. I must admit that when I heard Boris Johnson was doing better, I shook my fist at the Lord and cried, "WHY??".
  18. On the one hand, I would have LOVED to have voted for someone like Kamala Harris. However, after witnessing how this country had treated the Obamas for eight years, I wasn't eager to put another POC -- and a woman, at that -- through that kind of hell. I'm sorry to say this, but I don't believe most Americans today DESERVE experienced, intelligent leaders who just happen to be not white and/or not male.
  19. Well, he's gone. For now. We can breathe a sigh of relief 'til 2024, when I'm sure the itsy bitsy Bernie will climb up the spout again.
  20. It's just a tragedy (and a TREMENDOUS failing on this nation's part) that Kamala Harris didn't become the Democratic nominee.
  21. But, Don Hastings has always been more...agreeable about these things. And I say that as someone who considers Larry Bryggman the finest actor ever to work in daytime (next to Michael Zaslow).
  22. Why, Opal, of course, lol!
  23. I'll be gobsmacked if Larry Bryggman agrees to do one of these reunions, lol.
  24. For sure, I think the early emphasis on large families from different walks of life was due to Doug Marland's influence. Like Richard Culliton said in some soaps-related book, Marland tended to create families with tons of relatives. You could see that even on his first HW'ing job, with THE DOCTORS, when all of M.J.'s siblings showed up for her and Tom Carroll's nuptials. Agnes Nixon, on the other hand, tended to create quirky, larger-than-life characters, which probably explains Tom Ligon's character (the college football coach, right?) and his wife. As much as I adore Marland's contributions to the genre, I can't see him coming up with characters like Billy and Rita Mae Bristow on his own.
