  1. Do we know Tudor didn't leave the business on her own? I was gonna say we did get Kim Stanley on a soap but I was actually thinking of Kim Hunter In hindsight maybe it was a mistake to have thePilot movie focus on characters missing from the show (its storyline didn't even really set up all that much on the show)
  2. HAHA i love her. Yeah even most fansof the series didn't seem to think the pilot movie was all that good.
  3. I watched very heavily back then and don't even remember Neal I dunno, I actually think the last 6 months of City were *very* good (this was Spring 1997 and at the time I felt my other shows--AMC and OLTL were slipping while City was finally improving--it actually was the only one of ABC's shows to have ratings gains week to week too, albeit tiny ones and the show's cancelation was already a done deal). OK Tony wasa bit one note but by the alst few months I liked nearly all the characters--I much prefered Angie on City to Loving as well where she never really felt part ofthe canvas tome.
  4. I didn't have a history with Curtis but I admit as a horny young gay teen I found Mercantal an odd fit--he just isn't as soap opera handsome as I guess I expected--in hindsight though I see what a good actor he was and the show was already doing really well with male eye candy by this time (I still think Trucker, who disappeared from acting pretty soon after--is the best looking of rhte cliche "romance novel cover guys" on any soap of the time)
  5. So is that youtube creditless episode of Jack and Stacey's rehearsal dinner from 86 under Nixon?
  6. Yeah that was shortly before the original Curtis returned, under Nixon, as Dante's "pet"
  7. But was it any good? I think one soap critic said it showed she should stick to soaps--still I'd love to see it. *edit* it must not be too obscure and seems to have lots of fans (probably partly cuz of the actors) as youtube is litered with clips and fan vids to it.
  8. It was briefly available on NTSC VHS--I rented a copy from a local Blockbuster when i was first soap obsessed so around 1991. It may have had a slightly different title. I wish I could track down that historical miniseries Agnes wrote around the same time.
  9. The first clip (re Lily's mom alcoholism) says it's from the first episode--I wonder if the postr has the full episode and could be politely persuaded to post it all or just has her mother's scenes. (I have seen the pilot movie, with Lloyd Bridges or whoever and Geraldine Page -- which aired in primetime the night before--though I wish I could see that again as well) The way I had read it I assumed Lily's incest story was dropped altogether--I'm glad it at least got some sort of payoff in the court scenes. the first year or half year of Loving seems very good to me--a good mix of old school AMC (which I think was part of Agnes Nixon's concept for creating it--and may have been its undoing as no one really wanted early 70s style AMC as a soap by then) with some of Marland's trademarks. It does seem in the 90s, with Addie Walsh and then Agnes writing in a way they returned to this style--the show at least seems more like the very early Loving I've seen in feel in those 93-94 eps than the 1987 Loving clips here (when one of the writers was Amy Lippman who went on to create Party of Five).
  10. Wow thanks for those clips! So that was some of the infamous incest storyline they were apparently forced to botch?
  11. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=99WPvhSp8vk And some random crappy video of Ava from '88
  12. More classic Loving has been posted, for those who may not have seen Luke Perry! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=il28pj48Cyo http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vp9Y4HV1acg
  13. I had never seen a preview or anything for it before! (third one on here) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9w99_UlaMmw
  14. I'm disappointed none of the AMC cross over that got me hooked on Loving, with Carter Jones (john wesley shipp) etc has made it to youtube--actually none of that story on AMC has made it either.
  15. HAH I didn't even notice that--it does seem to be pretty close! Awww all the stories that The City coulda gone on with
  16. LOVE the Bad Seed--that's great. I always like it when stars tell of good experiences at their soaps lol. I have such a hate on for Lipton that this show has never had ANY interest for me--and while out of soaps from that 10 year era I'm still more sdesperate to see ANY of Where the Heart Is and Friends and Lovers/For RIcher for Poorer, I have to admit these promos have me very interested in seeing more. It feels like a very sophisticated show for its time, maybe too sophisticated (especially for an early morning time slot). Just compare it to this promo for AMC at the same time (which is I admit a GREAT promo--it woulda hooked me) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KXwMBKsdPgI
  17. I've never thought much of this soap seeing as it was created by the awful James Lipton (soap killer extraordinare, Broadway musical writing hack, who now inexplicably, and famously, hosts, along with his massive ego, Inside the Actor's Studio) but I admit these youtube promos intrigue me--it seemed pretty racy for 1970 and had a very strong cast (lotsa Oscar talent). Was it canceled just cuz itand World Apart didn't do as well as AMC out of te new ABC 1970 soaps? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PfKrrd8NLBM http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=flZ14xZylsQ
  18. Out of boredome was trolling youtube for more Loving clips (it can be hard to find something as genericlly named as Loving lol) and got all excited to find all the ones this guy posted, only to find out they're not in English. Not sure what era they're from (late 80s early 90s?) Early 90s I think cuz it seems to be Jack and Stacey the first time around http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h4xAmJNteM0&feature=related
  19. I hate reading his interviews (especially as he mentioned in the past that he NEVER watched Loving, and now is acting liek a huge fan lol) but I gotta read--I assumed she left on her own too. In hindsight IMHo it was a mistake but maybe with diva Morgan fairchild coming on and the desire to really shake up the cast (none of the really core Corinth family members made the move) they thought to drop her
  20. HAHA thanks--you're too good to me HAHAH Dei Pini used Simply Red as its theme!
  21. LOL Oh I was still using the old way from a few years back-- that's much easier to remember lol http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D3lbj6MOriQ
  22. Well then I'm in that minority with you I have the Loving pilot TV movie and 2 90s eps and one 80s one on .rm media somewhere--I'll try to find it and maybe get it on youtube if I can figure it out...
  23. SIGH I give up doesn't seem to want me to embed though I think I'm doing it right . Here's the link http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D3lbj6MOriQ And Faltermeyer must have been hired as some sort of promotion--he did a whole soundtrack with some of the love themes (sung in English--0super dated) and score that is up on youtube: Roman and Diana's theme http://www.youtube.com/user/RomanDianaFan29#p/u/4/1mIfIAJhut0 This user has them all http://www.youtube.com/user/RomanDianaFan29#p/u/4/1mIfIAJhut0 (Zeit der Sehnsucht soundtrack)
  24. HAHA found some. Here's the full version of his theme song (which is VERY mid 80s synth--sounds a bit like his movie themes lol very dated but I kinda like it... lol) I actually have this album it's on--his greatrest hits and didnt really realize where the track was from... <object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D3lbj6MOriQ&hl=en_US&fs=1&"></param><param'>http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D3lbj6MOriQ&hl=en_US&fs=1&"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D3lbj6MOriQ&hl=en_US&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>
  25. I believe they had a different dub for Quebecois france--we still get Y&R and B&B int he afternoons and B&B is called Top Models I believe (like that--in English as it's common slang...) I always see it in the tv listings and briefly wonder what show that is... Loving was big in France and Italy I know can't remember the name (Italy had AMC for a long time as Pine Valley though--well except whatever Pine Valley is in Italian)
