  1. That is fair, but I just want to see something dramatic and messy (like another poster mentioned). Plus, we know and like Kat, Jacob, and Naomi, so it would be more interesting. Hayley was already a homewrecker when we met her, and her limited backstory was all exposition. As far as young love, I would have Tyrell fall for the daughter or son of a rival congressman/woman of Martin's. Try a classic soap opera Romeo and Juliet story with a DC twist.
  2. I would make Jan, Ashley's mom, Anita and Vernon's maid. It would lock in to why Leslie would choose to befriend both her and Mona. It also gives Ashley a connection to the Duprees and explains how she befriended Naomi. I would have had Derek start the show as a cop to explain his connection to Jacob. Kat needs to realize that she is MADE to be a detective. Have her go through police training, making the appropriate comments about the uniform along the way. Have her prove she is so much more than a rich princess, even to herself. Then, when Jacob's partner is proven to be dirty, Kat is assigned as Jacob's rookie trainee. At the same time, Naomi does finally get a case she can follow through on. Her client is a person that Jacob arrested. This puts them at odds because Jacob knows this person did it, as does Kat, but Naomi only sees the extenuating circumstances and believes he deserves a lighter sentence and a second chance. THAT is when Jacob will turn to Kat in frustration and she will lose her virginity to him.
  3. That would really just be a redux of the Leslie/Eva story. I really hope they don't go there. My guess for the storyline with Anita that we have "never seen before on daytime" is that it may be a "me, too" story. Anita did unspeakable things to get ahead because of some disgusting producer, and the other person she left behind was a boyfriend who cared about her very much.
  4. Kelly was a horribly-written character overall. Just think, two Emmy-winning actresses (including Cynthia Watros, Nina, GH, and Annie, GL) couldn't make it work. Pamela is campy, but so are Dani, Vanessa, Leslie, and Joey. And, I don't want to be too judgy because my love for camp changes depending on the show. OLTL, DAYS, and some eras of GH had me rolling with the camp. However, Passions was overkill and I hated it. And, here, I can take it or leave it. It's ok in small doses (note to RC). I see this show as more of a serious drama.
  5. I agree that she isn't Dixie or Rosanna and shouldn't be acting like either. I just found it strange that she had a naive Southern character and a wealthy urbane character in the past and didn't experiment with accents before (unless I missed it, correct me if I'm wrong). She used to do improv characters on YouTube. She's probably doing something similar here.
  6. Her accent sounds horrible and doesn't fit in line with the character or the dialogue. I was just messing around on YouTube and perusing early Tad and Dixie videos. Notably, Dixie, a resident of Pigeon Hollow, West Virginia, has no discernible accent. i have no idea why she would add a defunct accent to this character now. I want to do an honest survey here. I watch BTG every day and I love it. It's not perfect, but I find it 99% entertaining. For those that find fault with it - what is actually bothering you? I'm not going to argue at all, or disagree with you. I just want to know what others are seeing that I'm not.
  7. I said the same thing about Dani Dupree. That's when you know the writing is good because a complex character has been written that can be taken in multiple different ways.
  8. Leslie was crying today after Eva left the apartment.
  9. I like the middle-of-the-road characters, though. Like Bill himself... He is more a complicated Roger Thorpe than a Stefano DiMera or Helena Cassadine. Bill, like Roger, is never a cartoon. He loves Naomi and Chelsea just like Roger loved Blake and Hart. That being said, Leslie is headed for DiMera/Cassadine territory, and I love Trisha as much as the next viewer, but I getting tired of Leslie now. The only time she is really tolerable is with Eva. I don't understand why she keeps pushing her away when it is obvious that she still loves her deeply. Obviously, there is more to the story. I would rather they build on the backstory of Leslie/Eva/Alan (once the blowback from the anniversary party plays out).
  10. I'm not the person this was asked of, but I can answer with my opinion. Dani had my sympathy at first, but as time went on, without her moving on, she became quite tiresome. I mean, in order to sway viewers' favor away from the wronged party, and toward favoring the homewrecker, says a lot about Dani's character and her portrayal on the canvas. Please note, this is not a swipe at the writers or Karla. I think the Dani we've been getting is exactly who we were meant to get. See, what I love about Michelle and her team of writers is the way they write characters that are well fleshed out. Dani is not a one-dimensional victim, as she would look like on paper. She is annoying, opinionated, far from accurate in her thoughts and actions, manipulative, obsessed, and has no inhibitions. She seems angry about the circumstances of being cheated on, but we then learned that she didn't care about the same scenario in the past, as long as Bill stayed with her. She is pissed because she was abandoned. Not only that, she was traded in for a younger model orphan, presumably from the wrong side of the tracks. Dani's parents convinced her that her name makes her special. That is why she doesn't understand how anyone could be more appealing than her. We also heard her cry about giving up her career because Bill wanted her to and he wanted her to focus on having his children. However, Bill tried that ish with Hayley and she wasn't having it. And, even now that Hayley is expecting, Bill hasn't mentioned her giving up work, throughout the pregnancy or afterward. Could Bill have simply suggested that Dani give up modeling and she just quickly folded for her man because she has no backbone (and now she blames him)? Or, did Bill really coerce her? Again, there are no black and white characters, so who knows where the truth lies? So, it's not the fact that Dani has reacted to this situation that makes her annoying. It is HOW she reacted and continues to act. She needs to take a page out of Nicole's playbook and calm down. But, she can't. That's not who she is. And, that is what makes Dani a polarizing character. For some of us, our sympathy has run out. Others are 100% behind her antics. That is the paradox the writers purposely created and it works like a charm, because she is neither a villain nor a heroine.
  11. I think Doug needs to get his own sidepiece, but not Dani. Dani is only tolerable with Andre (and her daughter Chelsea), so let's keep her there. How about Shanice? She seems like she really cares about him as a person.
  12. See! We didn't get to see this, but we got endless scenes of the alternative to Ambien known as Ashley and Derek.
  13. Thanks, Jane. Good lookin out...
  14. I was saying that they may not bury gays like other shows, but we never see them kissing or making love in a way that rivals the straight couples on the show. And, it hurts because the opinion of "Helen, the 75-year-old evangelical from Alabama" matters, but our strong gay fanbase doesn't seem to matter to the PTB as much. Probably because they know we will watch no matter what. It feels like P&G is still reacting in its 2000s Nuke and Otalia mode.
  15. I don't know. I'm sorry if you're offended. I really have no idea.
  16. I googled "Brandon Claybon wife" and I got a 3-year-old trailer for the "911" TV show on Fox from his Instagram. The lady who PLAYED his wife fell from a building and was rescued. Claybon came off as the gay bestie in the clip.
  17. As a gay woman, I disagree. I guess we will have to agree to disagree. When they were having lunch with Vernon the other day, I swear, Smitty and Samantha looked you like two good friends, hanging out, throwing shade at an oblivious Vanessa and Joey.
  18. One of the actresses certainly has a similar voice. I was wondering the same thing.
  19. Its really good, Shadows. I can't tell you what to do, but I started from the beginning out of curiosity and I have watched every episode without regret. It is actually a daily treat for me now, because I really love it now. If you have the time, I'd watch the whole run. I just said the same thing to my friend (another BTG fan) when she saw me reading this board earlier. It's a real shame, but my memories of Otalia (Guiding Light 2009) and Nuke (As the World Turns 2007) come to mind. You would think P&G would have grown up by now.
  20. Arielle does just fine!
  21. Since we need to see Tide placed in the show at least 4 times a week, Derek should be acknowledged as what happens when one accepts the Tide Pod Challenge.
  22. I dressed exactly like Kat at her age. Have you been there? I lived there for a decade and I miss it.
