  1. "And on a scale of 1 to 10 how dull are you as an actor"?
  2. Marj only went to AMC as they offered her a three month contract (I think it went longer) and on GL she was recurring with no upcoming dates to film (too busy creating the next wildly successful Reva story.) So a bird in the hand....Too bad as they were finally writing an Alex that Marj could play.
  3. You also have to be really young..as DeeVee said, after 911 he skyrocketed to popularity for both right and left voters, as he was (or appeared) to be very much in command and comforting during a time of obvious national crisis. He even opened the SNL first live episode after 911 with the actually funny answer to Loren Michael's question on "But can we be funny" by saying "Why start now?" He really screwed himself by his later..political alliances. This was the beginning of GL grasping at straws tho this one at least makes a bit of sense as I can see Alex knowing him (sadly they would rewrite that later duiring Weston and Kreizman with Alex being antogonistic to Harley.) At least it makes more sense then a soon to be seen appareance during the dumbest trial GL ever had.
  4. And with one of the Village People no less! I can see why GH and GL were not busy quaking in their boots over the competition.
  5. Im not even going to ask WTF that is...okay, yes, I am! Someone on here said that Reva and Buzz had crazy sexual chemistry but I did not see it, (manic energy yes, that had the residents of 5th Street plugging their ears no doubt with those two big mouths..)I can see them being friends and once Alan kicks her to the curb and Josh and Annie get married then I can see him giving her a job..so yea the marriage thing did not work especially as her deal with chipmunk Marah was to just let Josh and Annie marry. Three men with hard ons for Reva was not needed.
  6. Ha...I don't mind the..idea of it...despite trashiness of it...there can be really a lot of drama that could be wrung out of this as the cuckold husband can't just dump the woman (as he would in real life once finding out) as he still has a bio kid involved. Also there is history of Blake mirroring her past, there is Ross not only being betrayed by Blake but by Rick who he has become an uncle figure to, throw in Ed knowing the truth and feeling for all sides (feeling conflicted and dredging up his own pain of his past, maybe tempted to hit the bottle again) Ross feeling betrayed when he finds out his best friend kept it from him, Holly also remembering her past but still helping Blake to cover it up..maybe enlisting Roger's help in it, and finally Roger, not a fan of Ross, but not happy at all that his oldest enemy is now going to share grandfather status with him. But none of that was played out...it was actually played like a bad sex farce at first..playing into MOL's worst tendencies, and making Rick out to be a real prick as they called him on the boards, not the least bit guilty on what he did. Ed wasnt around for the baby part of it, and the past was never mentioned. Plus, it makes Ross look so stupid, that he....uh, could not tell that Blake...recently had been with someone...which is really as Abby says, "GROSS"!
  7. Actually, McTavish read in the paper about a similar case, so she copied it for GL.!!!
  8. I think the artifice of the Rauch years being gone helped, but also I think Kimmer just got tired, which matched what Reva would be feeling..and Kimmer didnt have an EP up her ass all day so she just had to allow them to make Reva more of a supporting character and it worked. Imagine if Ruach had not been insistent that he could create a whole show using his old ideas (the island) as long as he had Jeva front and center. A new web series, Tired Tulsa Tramp.... Reva marrying that rapist is more unbelievable to me than the clone. Just what kind of pictures did Cole have of TPTB to keep him on so long?
  9. I think Zimmer, if she could put her ego aside for once would have enjoyed playing that!
  10. That was a great period for the character, (Kim got another Emmy) buying a house, getting a job...being bullied at work (Claire) interacting with characters outside the Lewis sphere, having a guy friend that wasnt in love with her (Fletcher.) This is why I hate when they brought her back she was not eager to make her own life outside of Josh..she relies on Alan's money (and he has reason to be pissed at her, he is bankrolling her life and return) then Buzz for the dumb marriage thing. I wanted to see her back at the Journal working or doing something besides having a man worship her. The next time she has a job she is a talk show host !!!! Reva is self centered, its part of her character and Long wrote it as a bad trait and she had people ...not liking her (Alex, India) where Rauch has her self centered and holier then tho, and NO one but Annie says a word against her. Once Cassie comes along there are two self righteous shrews running around town!
  11. Yes, I think they have these two on contract, so they put them in this throw away story with no consequences..ala the Nola/Buzz/Jenna story. Its clear at this point that all energy is to go to the next Reva story, and actually Van gets off easy as opposed to the dumb stuff they give Jeva to do to stay on 4 days a week. I never understood anything about Matt, does he have a life besides Van? The only other character he interacts with is Josh, and that is rarely of any substance. He never seemded much interested in what Bridget, Nola or J. were up to, besides thinking he had the moral high ground in the Nola/Buzz dumbness. He had little to no interaction with Bill, he just berates Dinah, all the while wanting to f*ck her , which if they had gone that way earlier would be make him sleazy but at least a bit more interesting, and given Van Eason to kick both to the curb. Instead of bringing India in as a third we know is not going to last (I LOVE India she deserved more then this) they should have gone with Van Ross turning to each other ( we all know that Jordans issues at this point are going to keep him off contact so Billy is out.) I just watched a scene of Reva during the Cain storyline, as it was just outed that she was the woman on the bridge in Fletcher's stories, and while the material is still bad Kim is so much better then she is this go around. Reva is still the woman that all these men and characters revolve around (Maeve even apologizes to Reva for marrying Kyle..WTF) but Kimmer doesn't make Reva the sanctimonious bore she is during Rauch..she keeps Reva on earth, and isn't afraid to let us know that Reva is not perfect. The writing isnt as slanted as it is during Rauch so that helps, but what a difference Kimmers' acting is.
  12. Ha... I love ice cold Van...she is the natural successor to BevAlex..but they never would let her go "full powerful cold bitch matriarch" which they should have. And for once, someone in the soap press protects journalistic ethics and goes ahead to report what happens. I know it's a plot point to set somehting else up, but good for Van...plus, if every soap journalist refused to not report something because they know that person, there would be nothing in the paper but ads. By the way, how does Van own WSPR???? Jill Hurst said that the Beth/Matt thing was to take advantage of what they thought was the chemistry between the two, but it was never intended to go through, which was a major problem with soaps at this time, TPTB didn't have the balls enough to go against the fanwhackos so no storyline had an consequences. The Matt/Beth think actually would make sense if written well, without the ageism and giving Beth some motivation other then being a hungry hobag..it could be a triangle with no villains. With this and the Ross/Blake thing going on, it was the perfect time to get Van and Ross together, both spending time over the crazy daughter and dumping their younger partners. Why have Ross screw a nobody? I know people hate it but I love the Stalker story and Holly going over the edge..they needed to have Ed come and pull her off the bridge, not once again Reva sainvg the day.
  13. What Long said was, "That woman is sexy as HELL" when she saw her on screen during the Christmas Eve episodes.. so she brought her back....(they did Holly's hair in a bun kind of thing to make her look old enough to be Blakes mom. I actually like Long's version of Holly best...smart, funny, sexy, ambitious with the chink being Roger...( One of my favorite lines when she came back after her guest shot, going to see Blake at the Spaulduing mansion..."This isn't a home...this is BERUIT!"
  14. I remember thinking that Bea should have a harder edge. She raised 7 kids on her own, turned her house into a business....and that big nice house must have cost some cash..so Tom was over extended or he was up and coming, and to have that end and think your husband ran out on you must have been hard and made you hard to survive. When they recast Mo with Parker they had Bea back for one day to make the transition, it would have been a good time to bring her back with Charita, but I would have made her tougher...(I see her giving Hawk hell, as he was living in the BH at that time, and also putting Claire in her place, Irish moms may come off sweet but f*ck with their kid and the rosary beads become a weapon.) but could Lawson have played that? Long was stuck with a happily married couple who had one of the first crazed fan bases. Add that in , the stories Nola could have been involved in (the cabing msytery.) were going on during maternity leaves, etc. Nola 2.0 was the perfect time to bring back a more edgy Nola...despite what the Qualos think, anybody could have an affair and Quint cheating could have done that. But they chose to make Nola a depressed looser instead. That would also have been a great time for her to find out Mo died because Ed and Lillian f*cked, and have her hell bent for leather on both of them.
  15. Well...it's not really a defense since Wheeler gave us all of those characters..hanging out with the Super Dooper Coopers. And no Aubrey...(I loved her Marina, I have no idea why they didn't make her a new Nola..chasing after a correctly cast Shane....giving Reva hell.....Kimmer would have another costar to hate..this one WAY younger!
  16. Agreed, I think Blake became a woman who learned from her mistakes and grew up. I too wanted them to be the core couple after the Tori thing, as a matter of fact, around Wheeler after Simon left I wanted them to move into the Bauer house..( I would have Blake say that this is the closet thing she knew as a home )SORAS the kids, and bring Sam back..Dinah would have a very contentious relationship with her, as she would be jealous of Ross and Sam's relationship, and Blake and Dinah would have that tension (ya, know cause she killed his brother) it would be a core family that had some fissures leading to good drama. But now, Wheeler and company though the Coopers should be the core.
  17. I think she was especially galled that once again, the story isn't about Reva, it's about Annie as it was during Watros time. Reva becomes a plot point and had no internal life or sparks things on he rown as she did pre resurrection. Reva is a plot point, and that really must have p*ssed Kimmer off. But she and RN have no one to blame but themselves as they insisted on being on almost everyday and when it was time for them to move on to being the B story for a bit. I have no doubt San Crud was meant to make her happy..two men chasing after Reva...and a whole set of new characters created just for her. But then Rassie hit and Kimmer was back with Jarsh. I love the Signy mentions the scene with Marj..they are both great there, and Marj finally gets a scene that works for her Alex (harder, louder then BevAlex...) Again, this woudl have worked better if Signy was just some nut sent to cause havoc for Annie..cause Signy does make a good "nut" as she says.
  18. Where did Drew get the money for it?When you build a set that big, it costs a lot of money, not just to create it but putting it up and taking it down each time it is used...so they need to show all the characters using it. Which is why is was stupid to have all the young character talk about it being "Their" place...hold on to your hat, cause they are going to have Thanksgiving there! But its going to disappear as fast as ti came. I wanted Nola to build a club or just take over the Towers Club, and to it very Artdeco like an MGM musical...the wait staff dressed in retro clothes along with Nola. A running joke would be Nola forcing people to watch a song and dance performance "I'll only go if it past the time Nola sings!"
  19. The infamous "SIT DOWN, Josh" that even RN made fun of in a Locher Room! The show is officially going off the rails when it could have gotten back on after the clone. Thanks for the synopsis...I forgot about that damn coin, which, spoiler alert, goes nowhere...(such sloppy writing from now on in..) And yes, how did Annie change her voice, her height, and actually lug a dead boy out of the morgue....(guess what...it doesn't matter cause it's really all stupid.) I do love the Millennium set.
  20. LOL! Yes, and Jay could have turned the tables on him by walking by, doing the "ole switcheroo" and Brad would be doing the walk of shame the next morning by limping out of the manager's office!
  21. Ha...and actually medium sized Central Illinois towns (which is what Oakdale had to be..a few hours from Chicago, with farm land surrounding it) did have "discos" ours was "Macon County Light Company" lol..so I can see one being there, but yes, just mentioned, or a special set for a sweeps event when someone is invariably shot. But yea, I can't believe they didn't have Lisa open one, but maybe I am imaging the entrepreneur of the year she became later with Melinda coming every night and Jay as her manger, no doubt doing drug deals and giving blow jobs in the parking lot. I can see sleazy Brad squishes around the place for sure. And for the special sweeps episodes, Joyce holding Lisa hostage...with Donna Sumer's "The Hostage" playing over and over.."Nancy "Oh dear, I told Lisa opening that dance hall would be nothing but trouble!"
  22. That would have been interesting. I think they would have liked writing for a more community based show then a core family centric show like ATWT (which is why I never understood why Long failed at Search and went against type and created a new core family for the show..) and enjoyed writing the platonic matriarch patriarch couple of Jo and Stu. I remember how boring Alan was redeemed. But Marland pusses out all his males like Ross, who married the unsexy "Carrie Todd" and was running around in matching jogging suits and drinking veggie shakes.. Interesting the history of Amanda, I just remember her as Marland's sad wimpy victim...so their was a basis for Poser's "mean girl" Amanda from the Dobson era.
  23. I know the Dobsons didn't want to take over ATWT, and in one way I can see that..if I wasn't writing one of the PG shows I would hate to take over an ABC show, or Days or the Bell shows. But ATWT was so close to GL and who wouldn't want a crack at what had become an American institution and Irna's baby? I think instead of using their projections for GL they just (unsuccessfully) copied their past storylines on GL...Brad/Dee/John from Ed/Holly/Roger (which is a shame as there was some real drama in having Dee in love with John, with his history with Dan/Kim.) and James/Babs from Alan/Hope..again, though James was a one note villain, who had any charm it came from AH. I think the real way to for the Dobsons would have been AW..which had always been a bit of a more psycho/sexual storyline then Apple Pie/core family ATWT. I do agree that the pressure was on them to make ATWT more ABC like, and since they had no real love for ATWT, they just did it and collected a paycheck while creating SB.
  24. Haha..the only disco on earth that is a HOT spot at 5:30 p.m.
  25. Yea, the Dobs did NOT move ATWT to the 1 spot. MAYBE it won its timeslot a couple of times. Compared to GL, their ATWT was a cartoon mess..more plot than nuanced characters like GL (Mr. Big anyone?) Bridget is a character who seemed to really live in her own head, and sees reality that way. I would love what she had to say about obscuring the Hughes family, especially Nancy and Chris. It's just interesting that they wrote the Bauers so well with Bert being the center of things. I would think they would like more conflicted matriarch like Nancy, who did not have the "good nature, discussing a spine of steel" that Charita played but was colder and more outwardly controlling. Also she wrote Mike and Ed so well, and on ATWT she had two brothers with Bob being the galant one and Don being the more conflicted one. It woudl hav been interesting if they leaned into Nancy being controlling and her adult children pulling away from her a bit so she softens ( or as Marland retro wrote..give her menopause (was she too old for that). Love to hear the backstage movements going on at the that time.
