  1. The Eli simms storyline was my introduction to this show and I have to admit as newbie to the show and very much younger that I didn’t cared if some didn’t made sense how they all got together and stuff. The mystery and Tony having a big story (who I found very likeable) getting to the bottom of it and ALL families being involved was so intriguing. Like seriously. I watched a lot of other soaps before GL and the others didn’t had that much involvement between all families of that show. That really hooked me. The biggest shock to me was Bill’s murder ! That’s when I started to look up his character and was surprised he was such a big one back in the day before that. As a newbie u would’ve never known.

  2. GZSZ really annoys me lately. I can’t believe that a men like Gerner would let himself get treated that poorly by Yvonne. His wife.

I miss the old 90’s and 00’s Gerner. He would’ve shown Yvonne her place lol Since the 30th anniversary story and Gerner vs Linostrami and Yvonne snitching on Gerner to the police coz he was on the run coz he was wrongly accused of murder was the last straw. Yvonne is dead to me and Gerner should never have taken her back

  3. Michael Gavin got a whole special about him as a person and his shorty time!

Even though fans are so critical about this show and the decline on that quality of it I ADMIRE Michael for being the biggest and most loyal hype man for it! He really appericiate his show and all. That special even made me realize that if they from TVNZ would’ve asked him for cutting his salary or leaving to save this show from being cancelled that he would’ve done that. That Men is shortland street ! I will give him all his flowers that he deserves!

To be fair he got the best out of the storylines from 2024 lol

I really think that the writers thought they hit the jackpot with Reece and him being a killer now. They tried him being a nice guy with a secret sick wife but the audience didn’t enjoyed it. So they had to come up with something .. But even that flopped. What a shame coz the actor was great in the other stuff he was in

Interesting that Eric didn’t accept the Ashley replacement and I watched a few clips of them after I read that. It showed lol From now on I can’t watch Y&R without looking at Eric/Victor and the way he’s acting around others lol

I found this promo because of that and Jack’s return! Played by Peter from now on. This promo is so corny and cheesy but I love it!
Does someone know the name of that guy announcing his return? I can’t place him. Was he a cast member or just a random announcer? Lol

I can only offer my opinion (for what it's worth) but I think the 30s-60s were the glory days for GL. However, I would say that the 70s were great and I found a lot to like in the 80s and 90s. While it wasn't GL at its best, I wouldn't classify the whole decades of the 80s and 90s to be garbage, although a lot that went on during those decades I WOULD classify as garbage. The 00s, however, is a different story. I struggle to find any redeeming qualities of that last decade.

Thank u for answering. Your opinion is worth a lot. I really like hearing other Peoples opinions and different takes.

I Can See why Long time viewers struggled with the last decade and I won’t repeat m love for that decade again Right now but I do get it.

I was too Young for the 80‘s and 90‘s but I Loved 83 Where I started when I got my First GL Dvd‘s. I’m surprised Some Say This Is the Starting Point of the decline. I mean the Four Musketeers, The Lewis Clan, Kelly +  Claire Ramsey, Early Reva, Eli Simms and Tony Reardon+Annabelle Adventures, Bradley Raines, Alan-Phillip‘s Story. There was so much going on and everyone was involved and it really had a strong Community feel and a lot of those cast changes helped that show in my opinion. But it started to Change drastically Late 84.

I wish there was more available from 1937-1952. I Can Only assume It was a Great time coz Irma was into her Show with her whole Heart. The 100 Radio episodes that are available are so amazing and I listened to all of them. I’m just surprised that nothing more from GL‘s Radio episodes are available especially after 1950. Every other Radio Show from Late 40‘s Til 60‘s are available.
I was able to get my Hands on the GL Books that were released like that Reverend Ruthledge book or the Novel about Paul Fletcher from 67. Those made me so fascinated by those Old Years from GL

    YEA, just joking!!!!!

What happened '84-'86? Remember I was a late bloomer to finding this lovely soap.

A lot of cast changes , weird Recasts and some questionable stories. It had a good Portion of storylines but u lost a Lot of core cast Members and some of the familiar feel.

I have had an epiphany. I have FINALLY realized why it is that I cannot discuss the end of GL with y'all without getting into a massive bad mood. Most of you have so much blame for one Person & overlook 2 other persons - Conboy & Weston - who should be getting a heaping helping of blame. But then I come to what I think has the ultimate responsibility and blame & who might that be? P&G you fools! They were the ones who did not provide the needed budget and the ones who chose to put a totally inexperienced EP into a position where she was going to be in over her head from the first week, on. Now, I feel so much better. Rant over, BTW. It's safe to come out again.

True. P&G wanted out of the soap Business and that’s why 1 year later Atwt followed. I mean If that Big House ain’t behind your Show and providing Budget, Vision etc. How are they to make it. Writting is one Thing and the cast another but they tried. They had to work with like nothing lol I will always give them Credit for making the show til the last Episode even under those circumstances.

i mean what were the actual glory days. Coz i hear nothing but complaining about the 80‘s/90‘s/00‘s. Even some 70‘s got criticized. To me it Looks Like The Last 30 Years were garbage to the majority of GL fans

That's all that's available? Hmm. Wish it were on something that could be watched on TV. I'll have to check them out.

Yeah I know but at least the first 1773 or so episodes are up. At least 7 Years.

some Of the other episodes that were re-aired on Seven two are out there too online! I still don’t get why they cancelled it mid 96

Well there was Jessie of course, whom Lee was dating when she fell pregnant after being raped by Phil and offered to raise the child (Nancy) as his own but they had already broken up by the time Nancy died (after struggling in the hospital for three months).

    Then Meg of course.

And while married to Meg, there was Iris, Meg's old school friend who was an alcoholic, ran away from town several times and almost married Lee's brother Tom but jilted him by not showing up at the wedding. I don't think Lee and Iris ever had a full-blown affair or even a ONS and Iris seems to have abruptly been written out after three years when Lee and Meg reconciled following Scotty's kidney transplant.

Brooke, Meg's stepdaughter tried to come onto Lee when she returned following her divorce from Noel Clinton, Meg's ex-fiance. Brooke was later murdered.

Then there was Mary, a nurse Lee dated while Meg was institutionalised. She had an abusive ex-husband.

and then finally Carolyn, the adoption agent Lee married. Her son Bobby was college-aged and had been misdiagnosed with a fatal illness. Bobby eventually married his girlfriend and they were expecting a baby when they were all written out with Lee and Carolyn in a happy ending. Only for that happy ending to end in tragedy when both Bobby and Carolyn were killed off in a boating accident when Lee was brought back to the show. Happily, the wife and child were left alive (I don't think they were in the accident), bucking early GH's trend of killing babies off left right and centre.

Which reminds me that Lee was also apparently married in backstory and had a son Chuck who died onscreen in 1965 just as Lee and Jessie were starting to date.

Now I can see why Lee actually really hates Laura for breaking Scotty’s heart LOL

  11. It took me a while but I finally managed to get through May 2015 completely!

I really love Adam-Justin Hartley. He was driving the show man! His chemistry with everyone on that show was insane!

Shame Avery will be leaving soon and they broke up Dylan and Avery just like that. BUT the time they took with Sharon and Dylan as friends becoming more was awesome!

But the story I was really into was Nikki battling her alcoholic addiction! I know, I know that Eric as Victor is the heart of the show and everyone loves him to pieces! BUT I think this whole godfather persona and villain is laughable. He ain’t that much of a good villain tbh. I know the audience loves Nikki and Victor so much but I do think she deserves better! Like for real! I even would’ve been fine if Nikki and Neil became a real thing. Their friendship is so precious! I know this ship has been gone and niktor will be forever together til they both leave this show. But I really would’ve loved for Nikki to get a men that treats her right. What this men drove her to would anyone to the bottle lol

Jack and Nikki were always my secret favorite ship tbh!

That Jack/Marco storyline is insane! Like seriously out there! Y&R never done those weird out there storylines like DAYS or GH but this one right here is so far out there and not like this show lol I mean we had that Adam storylines when he pretended to be Sabrina or the whole baby story with Sharon but Jack/Marco! But I do love Peter and I could tell that he had a blast with it. It’s weird that they even gave Marco some sort of personality and backround storyline. I don’t know if they were trying to make us like him or not lol

The intervention episode of Nikki was one of the best episodes ! I really feel sorry for Nikki!

one of the strongest character developments had Neil in 2015! I still don’t get that such honest men like Neil would actually be back working for Victor knowing what kind of a men he is lol I hate that this show is trying so hard to make Victor an anti hero

1991 was another big cast change year.

Departures: Grant Aleksander, Beth Chamberlin, Kassie DePaiva (then Wesley), Robert Newman, Michael O'Leary

Arrivals: Melissa Hayden, Melina Kanakaredes, Nia Long, Jeff Phillips, Jocelyn Seagrave

    Return: Vincent Irizarry

Damn all All those big names leaving in 91. That’s wild.

Me and my husband's struggle with the absolute abyss that is 2003 continues. Every episodes feels like a drag... these 20 minutes feel like 2 hours.

It's not working on any level.

I actually liked 2003 and the introduction of Nick ! I enjoyed Macy-Amber-Rick-Deacon and they carried that year.

The massimo-Stephanie-Ridge-Nick story was kinda… ODD! To put it nicely. But it got better as the year progressed and 2004 made up for it.
