So just 6 more months of the crap we're getting now???

In other news, that Sloan threat to Nicole at the end of today's show was so poorly delivered. Too fast, too lacking in emotional power and impact. Rushing out of the room was a bad choice, and it would have been better for Sloan to warn and threaten Nicole and just stand there staring at her.

Jessica Serfaty just has to do better.

I love Ron’s writing. Albert Alaar was scabbing the scripts until he got fired. Can’t wait until Ron’s back!!

Have any of the other current actors posted ANYTHING to support Krista or just to wish her good luck at the Emmys? There has been a creepy silence in the Bold camp.

Unapologetic that I did not like her in the role. She’s no Hunter Tylo. Krista can go back to porn if need be.

  3. In Jeff Giles book Llanview in the Afternoon, Erika Slezak very clearly refutes Ellen Holly's claims about the quote. The book doesn't have page numbers so I can't give you that but yes, absolutely, Erika Slezak comments about the false accusations from Ellen Holly. Vee is wrong.

Don't presume Ellen is lying. I don't. Ellen would have more to lose than Erika would. I read Ellen's book. It does not matter. Calling a woman who is dead less than a week a liar is really unseemly. RIP Ellen Holly. At least she does not have to put up with garbage anymore.

I was not referring to Ellen's book. I was referring to Jeff Giles' book in which Ellen was quoted as saying that at OLTL's 15th Anniversary party in July 1983, Erika Slezak said to Agnes Nixon to get those 2 black (swear word redacted) out of my face, referring to Ellen and Lillian Hayman.

In Jeff Giles' book, Erika claims that never happened. I believe Erika. That is what I was referring to when I said that I think Ellen lied. Anyone who knows Erika would never believe that she would say such a thing and it was vehemently denied by Erika in many pargraphs.

And as an aside, Ellen said that overnight after that party, Jean Arley was gone and Paul Rauch was in. Wrong! Paul Rauch didn't arrive until a year later.

RIP Ellen Holly but don't tell lies about my Erika Slezak!

Despite Guiding Light ratings during Calhoun's run (remember that time slot rival General Hospital was 2nd for most of Calhoun's run), I think he left the show in pretty good shape when JFP took over. Yes JFP got the ratings up but as we are seeing in this thread, the ratings rise is overlapping with General Hospital tanking.

Yes, Calhoun did leave GL in good shape. And JFP took off from that and made it even better.

If only the ratings rise happened under Robert Calhoun's watch and not JFP's.

I will forever maintain that Robert Calhoun laid all the groundwork but JFP took all the credit.

Disagree. JFP took credit for HER work, not Robert Calhoun's. The best was yet to come. The blackout week was brilliant and had nothing to do with Calhoun. Calhoun's ratings speak for itself. Not that great.

You're right. It definitely starts at the top.

Which is why I'll never understand why anyone thinks Jamey's writing is good.

Giddens is back already??? Damn. He’s right up Ron’s behind. Bad news.

I’ve been saying all along that Janet should not have been named Co-ep. She was there the whole time that the crap was going on and did nothing to help the situation. You know that people went to her because she was next in line from the fired guy.

  8. Unfortunately, people think that just because it's in a book it must be true. Harding Lemay's book is just his opinion. Harding's book is filled with wrong information and his ego. Same with Schemering's book. Yet people quote these books as fact. Research before you post.

Ha...that was Wheeler also talking about Harley opening her kitchen cabinets and you can see real pots...huh..they did that on sets too (not to mention Harley's crap house with the walls not drywalled.) And she compared it to Desperate Houswives and you can believe the show as it films outside...nothing about DH was realistic or wanted to be...that is even if you could compare the junkey backyard of Harley to the meticulous take on a fantasy upscale suburb where everything was perfect..on the outside.

No one would take the HW job at that time...not work the hassle or the bad pay. I do say JLH really loved GL and "got it" and she was mostly responsible for the last week of returns, etc. Kreizman just sucked.

Ok Mitch. I challenge you. Who was the headwriter job offered to during that time and who declined the offer?

JLH had nothing better to do so of course she accepted. What has she done since GL? At least Kreizman is still writing at Days.

Ellen Wheeler becoming emotionally unmoored and going off the rails at the time of the transition to Peapack occurred at the worst possible time for the show.

Hiring Ellen Wheeler as EP was the end of GL. She was inept to say the least. Pairing her up with the god awful Jill Lorie Hurst and Kreizman was trouble from the beginning. A recipe for cancellation.

Did Irizarry and Beecroft have many scenes together?  I'm surprised they'd have much conflict otherwise.

Yup. Lujack lived in the Reardon boarding house. And they had physical scenes.

Anyone who could survive Ellen Wheeler and her stupid idea of Peapack deserves a medal!!

  12. Sally Sussman was a disaster as a soap writer. Her Generations failed big time and her other headwriting stints lowered the ratings (Days, Y&R). Sally should just go away and stop talking about soaps. She failed in the soap world.
