And, off to the side is the monstrous failure that was AW going to 90 minutes. After it the NBC programmers "admitted" that they tried it BECAUSE THEY COULDN'T THINK OF ANYTHING ELSE TO TRY.
opportunists with tinker toys
Why didn't NBC expand The Doctors to an hour before expanding AW a second time?

Ed and Maureen at the Bauer cabin. Earning EP the EMMY award. GL.
Phillip finding out that Justin, not Alan was his father and that basically the whole town knew. "I never had a father. I never did." GL.

They've listed the entire cast for each show for some reason.
Are they necessarilly wrong though? I know b&b only have like four or five people that really drive storyline

Maybe they meant compared to before.

LMAO it’s so funny because Hilary was supposed to have been revealed as a secret daughter of Gus Rogan and Dru, but the show chickened out and we have the preposterously silly results we have today.
Source? I believe you but I still like to see where inside dirt originates. Thanks
Ashland and Diane may click well together, but do we really want Dianne sucked back into Newman politics?

Dwight should be shady character, keeping up Esther's horrible taste in men. Maybe get Kevin or Chloe shot or harmed.

Never got into them, they always just seemed like rely good friends. Never saw any romantic characters, also the writers wrote it that way to not agitate the older viewers perhaps. It is CBS, and seniors love CBS.

Love the first one, she also looked and seemed more Irish than the others. She's gorgeous and reminds me of AW's Julie Osburn (Kathleen) who I crushed on as a kid and was devastated when she was written off.
Did not care for the other two AT ALL.

I'd still love to see Evan revealed as the child of Marlena and Orpheus. See Marlena be the mother of a real monster. See them try to humanize him like Ben.

Seems very believable that she COULD'VE just said that to get a rise out of Abby. Gwen was leaving her alone, but it was Abby who went out of her way to expose Gwen in a matter that had nothing to do with her.
Whether Gwen killed Laura on purpose, it wouldn't surprise me if they try to keep it ambiguous.

Here's another one. Did anyone really "follow the search"? In other words was the (small) NBC SFT audience, mainly NBC loyalists as opposed to migrated CBS viewers?

100% agree, I mean read the room, the McCleary brothers were not lighting the audience on fire enough to devote that much time in the montage to their shenanigans.
However, let's give a little notice of the youthful hotness of one Mr Matt Ashford; smoking...
And how'd they get that circus horse into the studio?
I'd rather jo and stu be at the start of the intro, being senior cast members, definitely not lost in the middle. For example,, Bob, Kim and Nancy usually were the first shown in the 1999 ATWT intro. Then you have a modern fan fave like Lilly appear last. That's how it should be done.
First and last spots being the important people.

As a non-viewer, I always got the impression that it was all about Erica, like Reva on GL. SL being on magazine covers and name dropped in pop culture venues like the Regis Philbin show.

Why didn't NBC expand The Doctors, 2-3pm after Days and AW expanded to one hour? You think it would've been a safer option than expanding AW to 90 minutes.

I hope it's a legacy female who's now a female cop, ala Hope.

Oh it begins to make sense thank you for the info, i wonder if they knew each other from Texas, Tina had a brief tenure there

One of My all time favorite GL couples for sure, makes me sad when many greats go away at once, makes one feel like the world is about to end
Calla withheld information about Dinah as she feared that Vanessa and Ross would grow closer if she was found.

So sad. Wanted to pay my respects. He grew to be the heart of the TV show GL. His Christmas "eyes of a child" message was a hallmark of GL for many years. I tried taking up One Life To Live just because of him. He was very missed from GL, the show never the same.

IIRC, Y&R was on a serious upswing, starting around mid '98, not too long after ED returned as Ashley.
Of the soaps I watched, I remember ATWT being in a pretty bad slump in '99 before becoming real good for the following 4-5 years.

Maybe it ends up being an homage to the movie Soapdish.. remember the producers brought back a character who was decaptated. "He Has No Head"

They were under the delusion that Zimmer and to a lesser degree, Newman, were the end all and be all of GL. Zimmer had her fans bombarding the studio and the boards every time she came on set that she "Knocked it out of the ballpark again!" etc, and both of them went to the press and cried if they had two straight days off. The ratings went up during the Annie trial (more Annie and Watros more the draw, plus there was a lot of stuff going on with other characters then..) and then the Clone got a lot of press, (believe it or not MADD chalked that up to their greatest success) and the ratings subsided a bit when they gave Josh and Reva a much needed rest after the clone..(all of those lookey lous were not going to stick around for anything as they were not interested in GL..just the Clone freak show..) .so net execs being lazy and dense from there were afraid to give Jeva a break. Rauch believed in a super couple to be the face of a show so with Roger and Holly gone it was Jeva.
Under Rauch new supercouples Rassie and Manny became popular, at a detriment to the show. They needed a bigger emphasis on the core families instead of just having one or two Bauers, and a handful for the other families.
Too many random, unrelated characters when they should've mined the various family trees. Jim and Tony Reardon could've had children, Bridget and Matt definitely had more siblings. Then of course there's Bea Reardon's other daughter that was never cast. Nola's daughter Anastasia should've been cast and maybe a plot involving Floyd being released from jail and wanting a relationship with his grown daughter.
If Rick, Phillip and Beth were there, Melinda Sue should of been there. Alan-Michael also should've been back after two or three years away.

I found the first half of the clone story very good. Joie Lenz was captivating as teen Cleva, and RN had some really great scenes portraying his grief and desperation. At the end of the day it was just another lame doppelganger storyline.

Others have said it, but I agree. Best 2002: Guiding Light. The Interim hiring Team of Millee Taggart and Carolyn Culliton finally got the show back on track after the dark age of B&E running the show into ground. Unfortunately all the improvements were flushed down the toilet the next year with John Conboy. In 2003 the show was way worse than Brown/Esenstein, perhaps the worst ever.
Worst of 2003. Perhaps the worst year ever for the show. Serial killer Ben Reade, Alex stalking Reva in a painful mid-story re-write, Marilyn Carrouthers. wasting Peter Simon after finally getting him to come back the year prior and never giving us the teased story about his time in Africa.

With a little better writing, Maggie on Days could fill that role. Maybe Jennifer if the shows still on in ten years.
A lot of Katherine bashing of late. First as her portrayal as a business power player then as a matriarch. Guess some people hated to see her evolve at all from. Just an observation, I don't have "a horse in the race."
I still say Abuella Santos could've been positioned as Bert 2.0
