  1. Dear God.

    Dear God.

Sorry if this has been discussed earlier (I've read posts from mid January now that I'm all caught up) but what is with Denise Black's right hand? It seems damaged and withered. It was very obvious in an episode a few months ago but she seems to keep it obscured most of the time. I've only been watching Emmerdale regularly since November. Has this been explained via Joanie's character?

I know it's early days but I like Isobel Steele, who plays Liv. She has potential. She reminds me of Jodie Foster when she was her age. I'm curious how she does in the courtroom scenes.

  2. I do think Rana will be unveiled as a total psycho who's been in and out of mental facilities for the past few years. And, for some reason, she's intent on destroying the Nazirs. I look forward to Yasmin delivering a right hook to send Rana spinning.

And even though I know it seems cliched how can the Phelan storyline end without him being found lying in a pool of blood as a result of being attacked with one of Charlie's chisels by a seemingly endless array of suspects?

  3. This week I read somewhere that the actress playing Theresa (blanking on her name) will play Miss Brahms in the BBC TV remake of Are You Being Served? I can also see her as the dim bulb Brooke in the hilarious farce Noises Off if someone ever tries to do a proper film version of it although I'm not sure anyone could. Maybe if it was shot like Birdman?

  4. I predicted here and elsewhere back in November that Maddy Hill could quit EE to play Jane Tennison in ITV's 1970s set prequel to Prime Suspect. I wouldn't be surprised if ITV made an announcement this week that Hill will be playing the role. She'd be great as the young version of Helen Mirren's Jane.

  5. Vincent might be Phil's half-brother? A Livergate storyline with Vincent as the potential donor? Oy.

I agree that Ellen Thomas is a decent actress 100% defeated by the material she was handed. Claudette's tits do deserve a BAFTA, though.

  6. I think Antony Cotton socialized with Tony Warren from time to time. I've seen a few photos of them standing next to each other at various functions. Sean was the CS character who most closely resembled Warren in a superficial sense, wasn't he? So it makes sense that they were friends.

I was shouted down at DS for daring to suggest that Cotton's job might be in jeopardy down the road following Warren's demise. Oh, please. I made a point of how sad it was that Warren has passed but perhaps a silver lining  in this cloud could be that Sean might finally be sent packing.

ETA Is it becoming obvious now that Pat Phelan will be found with one of Charlie's chisels sticking out of his back? I think he'll end up seriously damaging Jason's business so Jason and Eileen can be added to the list of suspects which includes Anna, Michael and Gary. I hope Michael is revealed to be the killer and we won't have to endure Les Dennis anymore.

And...uhhh...is it possible that Rama's not who she seems to be? Why is she insinuating herself into that family and why is she focussing on Zeedan? Is it at all possible that she's radicalized and is out to recruit him? I know that seems a tad far fetched but still...

  7. I agree about Jamie Borthwick probably not having much of a shot at working steadily on US TV and/or in feature films. As much as I don't like Jacqueline Jossa I always thought she had "the look" and could see her on some youth-oriented shows for The CW like Reign or The 100.

I think Rakhee Thakrar has the biggest future ahead of her in the US, if that's where she wants to go.

  8. I'm still scratching my head over those episodes in the hotel with Tracey withholding Carla's pain medication. I think it was fairly easy to see that Allison King was struggling to make those scenes believable but was fighting a losing battle.

One of the directors tweeted last week that he'd finished a very strong episode with Catherine Tyldesley, Shayne Ward and Daniel Brocklebank. Call this wishful thinking but isn't it possible that Aidan is bisexual and could be caught in bed with the vicar by Eva? And once Aidan is revealed to be "flexible" then maybe Todd will set his cap for him? And anything resembling a Sean exit storyline would be fine with me.

  9. I think SOC's arrival will be good for two people-Jessie Wallace and Ann Mitchell. He produced The Deep Blue Sea which Ann was in and he's known for valuing the more "mature" characters on his shows. And he wrote a lot for Jessie Wallace in his previous stint as a writer. I really hope he'll bring Kat back in the autumn/winter as a wealthy widow who ends up buying the Vic and running it with her grown son Luke/whatever. And if a wealthy Janine returned to fight her for it all the better.

  10. Daran Little actually could have "saved" AMC, in my opinion, but he was working under Chuck and then his visa ran out. I think Mal is a very strong personality and will wield influence at Y&R. Can't wait.

I think that the painting of Zoe as a heartless bitch in last week's episode was merely a set up for her to make a surprise appearance on Friday. I wouldn't be surprised if she utters something like "Go find him, Kat. Find my brother. Find your son."

  11. Hollyoaks Does Come Dine With Me aired last week in the UK (was it a repeat?) and it turned out to be very entertaining. The "dinner hosts" were the guy who plays Jimmy, the gals who play Tegan and Leela, the gal who plays Simone, Jessica Fox and Kieron Richardson. Richardson was as obnoxious and ignorant as it gets but he seems to be liked by his fellow cast members and in fact shared first place with Jessica Fox, who really did deserve the win. Richardson pronounced "souffle" as "soofel," which made me snicker no end. The gal who plays Leela (Kirsty something) was very cute and seems like she'd be a hoot to be around. The old guy playing Jimmy came off as an absolute idiot and his offerings were disgusting (frozen cottage cheese, anyone?)

  12. Geez Louise, Margaret's "Walford. What a dump." on tonight's episode was campy as hell. She seemed like a decent person all this time and then on tonight's episode she came off like a 70s superbitch. I did enjoy the line about the yacht, though-an obvious nod to the actress Jan Harvey's time on the sailing soap Howard's Way.

I actually don't think it's a retcon that Den was in a gang back in the late 60s which robbed banks. He planned the robbery in 2004 which led to Phil going on the run. It's perfectly plausible that Den gave all that up once he had his "princess" and became more of a family man with the playing away aspect still going on, of course.

I really like Paul Nicholas as Gavin. I predicted his casting on this and other boards months before it happened! I think it will turn out that "Hello, Princess" was sheer manipulation on his part.

  13. Stumbled upon a 1970 episode and there was veteran actress Frances Sternhagen. I was in a play with Franny back in 1984 and she was the very best to work with. I'm wondering how much older than the actor playing her son on The Doctors was-like, maybe 5 years? I think soon after that she ended up doing a series of Colgate commercials where she was a babysitter-well, she always did have an impressive set of choppers!

  14. LOL, Carl, re the dead eyes. I myself would hate-f***k the thoroughly obnoxious, inexplicably arrogant Ste but take my time with the dreamily handsome, dumb as a plank callow youth that is Harry.

OK, now that Sophie Austin (Lindsey) will soon be available for other work I can expect her agent to be getting a call from EE in ten, nine, eight...
