  1. So Chrissie decided to frame Andy for a potential murder charge because she heard him leave a somewhat vague message for Bernice and then he lied about it? Really? I'd understand if she'd caught him in bed with Bernice. Uggh.

She already knew by that point that he slept with Bernice. It pays to watch everyday.

Uhhh...excuse me...I DO watch every day. I guess I just didn't know that Chrissie was aware they'd slept together.

P.S. Sorry about multiple posts-this site is a technical challenge on an iPhone.

The poker scenes were bearable only because of the palpable, and I think unintentional, sexual chemistry between Pierce and Rakesh. Wowza. I'd like to see Pierce collect his debt by making Rakesh his bottom b**ch but I'm pretty sure they won't go there.

Is it possible Belle could suffer a "hysterical pregnancy" if her "conversations" with "Ellie" are any indication? Stranger and stranger.

Still WAAAAY too much of Tracey Sharon Shankley on this show. I guess she's the pet of the new producer.

  4. This week's episodes really do seem to me to be a good indication of Sean O'Connor's regime and it's good news. That scene between Donna and Kim alone convinced me that when SOC got his first look at the show he thought no f**king way would he let that horrible baby storyline continue. I really do hope this is the first example of his de-fusing one of DTC's "bombs."

I was enormously moved by Tuesday and Thursday's episodes, largely because of Lin Blakley's perfornance. She broke my heart time and time again. And God knows I've loathed Roger Sloman's work but he did a lovely job, too. It's always more touching for me to see a grown man fighting back tears than to suffer through blubbering faucets like Charlie Slater. Harry Reid has been impressive, too. And Martina Laird as DS Angie Price was hugely touching. The sensitivity DS Price showed toward the Cokers as well as her watchful, sad eyes quietly imploring Ben to tell the whole story as justice for Paul's death was quite special. Incidentally Laird was married to Ann Mitchell's son Che Walker. And in 2001 Che played Ross, the Brit who Sharon brought back to Walford from Florida as her fiance. I posted here a few times previously that Laird would be great casting as Paul's mother Jenny but I'm glad she ended up in this role, instead.

My only very slight criticisms of this week's episodes is that Babe was strangely nowhere in sight-I'm assuming her blackmail scheme will be exposed very soon-and that it didn't seem terribly realistic that Paul's door would have been closed shut from the time he left with Ben. They could have somehow explained that away with Les or Pam saying they'd shut it in the middle of the night to give Paul a lie-in. It just seemed a bit contrived to me that it was shut in order to facilitate the "big reveal" that he actually hadn't come home and would never be coming home.

  5. The last two episodes have been a gurnfest of epic proportions. Absolutely atrocious.

Trawled through Netflix last night and happened upon a Channel 4 comedy series called Scrotal Recall. In the very first scene the leading character is diagnosed with chlamydia and is told that, untreated, it could cause infertility.

Hmmm. Lee is still unaware that Abby transmitted chlamydia, right? Therefore he could be rendered infertile. Therefore Whitney could have been impregnated by another man? Andy? Kush? Or...to make it really hilarious...Jack?

  6. I don't think Sharon's found out about Mark's parentage through the letter. I think she's already known for years. How could Mark, Martin and Pauline know and she didn't? She and Michelle have been very close, like sisters. I think what was in the letter was Michelle telling Peggy about Mark and that she's about to tell him who his biological father is and what the circumstances were.

  7. Good God, Anthony Cotton was atrocious in Sean's "big scene." His line reading of "By yelling 'Stop!' in the cab on the WAY to the airport?' made me roll my eyes. If I was directing that episode I'd yell "Cut! Uhhh, Anthony, luv, far be it from me to give you a line reading but the stress needs to be on the word 'airport,' not the word 'way." I mean...come on.

  8. Well, DTC just couldn't resist it, could he? He used the exact same music for Peggy's funeral mass in the church that he used for Jean and Ollie's wedding last summer...and this happened to be the exact same music that was used for the infamous royal wedding massacre in Moldavia on Dynasty. Naughty boy! Heh heh.

  9. Martin's reaction to Carmel mentioning that Shakhil played the trumpet was priceless. The rest of the episode was dire. This show is totally spinning its wheels until Sean O'Connor starts.

ETA Friday's episode seemed ENDLESS. And what a shame that it seems they won't be including London Pride what with Ben and Paul together and Johnny being back.

They must have filmed a scene to insert in tomorrow or Tuesday's episode about Brexit, right?

  10. I respectfully disagree-the "boys" getting caught in tonight's episode was particularly irritating and Rodney's standing over little Angelica while she lay on the ground was extremely creepy! And for God's sake, will he PLEASE get rid of that mini ponytail? He ain't 20 anymore-or frigging Paul Revere.

That was pretty much the end of the story though, wasn't it?

    I do agree about Rodney.

I liked the later scene where Arthur told Ashley he'd be his friend.

    Yes, that was very sweet.

  12. Well, Carl, it's nice when there's a sense of community on this show but this pirate ship stuff, although it's using a lot of inter-generational cast members, is UNBEARABLE. I realize this is a bit of light comedy relief for Ashley before the dementia well and truly takes hold but all the "pirate" shouting and forced merriment by middle aged/elderly men and young children is still working my last nerve.

It's seeming more and more clear to me that Dr. Bailey has been playing the long game with Belle and has been setting her up to take the fall for the murder of his rich wife.

  13. Genuinely terrible episode tonight. Hard to believe Daran Little actually wrote this dreck. First of all 2005 wants its salsa class storyline back. I hated pretty much everything except for a sweet moment between Pam and Donna and Pam's impulsive method of chip disposal. This really doesn't bode well for the summer of 2016.

  14. I noticed that mistake too. I think Steven makes for a more interesting character than Peter. Hope they recast him if he ever comes back.

Do you think they weren't able to write good for Peter once Ben Hardy played him or was it like that when Thomas Law played him too?

Peter has never been a character. He was always overshadowed by Lucy, which is one of the reasons it was a mistake to kill her.

What about that line of Kathy's about Steven having parents who loved him. Who exactly was she referring to? Cindy and Simon? Ian and Laura?

I imagine it's yet another writer who just skims Wikipedia rather than knowing the history of the show. Why else would Kathy say Steven had "round trips" to New Zealand throughout his childhood?

    Exactly, Carl. Wow. That's awful.

  15. I'm starting to think that Dr. Bailey has been setting up Belle for months now, always intending to frame her for his wife's murder. By all indications she's an heiress of some sort-I doubt that fabulous house was bought on his salary-and he's been after her fortune since he married her. He can use Belle's mental health history/Gemma's murder and the stalker angle to make his dream come true.
