  1. I never even noticed it being a "thing" in the UK until this year. I know Halloween has become a big deal in the past few years and last year I heard of British families actually sitting down to Thanksgiving dinner!

What's the UK version of "a day late and a dollar short"? Because that applies to Madison. She was written into a despicable corner way too long ago to be sympathetic in any possible way. At least she wasn't revealed to be Hattie Tavernier's long lost daughter.

  2. On another board there's speculation that Max actually gave Roxy the drugs, indirectly causing both her and Ronnie's deaths. That possibility had crossed my mind recently. It would explain why he rushed to her hotel room and hid the drugs-he might not have been  protecting her (as we'd thought), he might have been protecting HIMSELF. It's definitely possible.

The Branning and Mitchell families also had incest storylines

Remember when Dennis and Sharon being together was considered an incest storyline? They weren't related by blood at all and didn't grow up together so it most certainly wasn't.

  4. I recently had the great pleasure of meeting Sally Dynevor and her daughter Phoebe for coffee here in NYC. Phoebe has been here shooting several episodes of a NY based television series I'm not sure I'm at liberty to mention.

Sally could not be a nicer lady. I knew better than to ask her about storylines. We did talk about my first time ever seeing her on TV, which happened to be Phil Donahue's talk show around 1985 (?), probably to promote its all-too-brief broadcast on the USA network-it was USA. right? Donahue was actually broadcast from Manchester and I remember how even never having seen Coronation Street equating it with Cheers was silly. Coronation Street was obviously a soap and Cheers was a sitcom. Sally reminded me that Woody Harrelson was even there at the Manchester studio for Donahue. I loved being able to tell her how much I loved Sally and Tim as a couple. Sally had nothing but praise for Joe Duttine-she's extremely happy with the relationship that's been developed between their characters. And it's obvious she still loves working on the show.

  5. SOC has claimed that Kathy will finally feature in a big storyline later this year. Any ideas what it could be?

I'd like it to be something to do with wherever the hell she and Gavin lived when they fled from South Africa after faking their deaths in 2006. Surely they weren't in just Spain--yawn.

I also wouldn't mind it if, after Walford Towers is demolished, human bones are discovered and they turn out to be the remains of Kathy's rapist, the one who fathered Donna. Maybe Kathy's brother Ted murdered him? Or Ted Murray, who harbored a quiet obsession with Kathy? She only once spoke about her rapist once and claimed he was a random stranger but maybe he wasn't?

    Look at you, buddy! ^_^

I hope they do use your idea b/c God knows this show needs a better family in Home Farm. The Whites need to get the f-ck out immediately once Lawrence leaves the show.

Thanks very much! I couldn't agree more about the Whites, too.

  7. It's a good thing I corrected my mistake about the year of the plane explosion before I sent it to one of the Emmerdale writers! He actually wrote back that the basic idea of the Reskovs was "excellent" and he'd pass it on to his colleagues. That would be nice of him although I certainly expect nothing to come from it since it's an unsolicited idea.

  8. Now that Claire King has apparently quit Coronation Street here's my idea of how she could return to Emmerdale:

    The Reskovs:

Nicky (Nicolai) Reskov-early 50's , handsome, wealthy, charismatic Russian who's lived in the UK for the past ten years. From a very powerful Soviet Russian family. Finds it easy to present himself as a warm
and amusing gentleman but is actually cold as ice and downright ruthless at times.

Yelena Reskov-early 30s. Nicky's daughter by his first marriage. Beautiful, sweet, kind, hard working. Could be a love interest for Pete, Ross or David.

Sasha Reskov-early 30s. Yelena's twin. Quirky, a "do gooder." Also gay. Could be a love interest for Finn.

Petr Reskov-late teens. Nicky's son by his second marriage. Likeable and easygoing but gives as good he gets when provoked. Would be a love interest for Belle. Possible casting: Martin Anzor (Preston, EE)

Gaia Reskov-mid 40s. Nicky's younger sister. Stern and somewhat blunt but actually a good, moral sounding board for Nicky. Will be in his corner no matter what because Nicky stood up to their father who was physically abusive to her.

Oh, yes, Nicky's current wife would be Kim. She would be dragged kicking and screaming back to Home Farm with them and ultimately reclaiming the throne as Queen Bee. She is deeply in love with her husband. There's a lot of tension between her and Gaia, though. They assimilate into village life well enough but then their place in Emmerdale reaches a melting point by the time the passenger jet explosion approaches its 30th anniversary in December 2018. Nicky's first wife was on that plane. And Nicky (or his family back in Moscow) might have had something to do with it...

  9.  The WLIW/PBS episode on Wednesday began with Pauline gazing at a photo of newborn Dennis. There was a close up shot of Mark's photo on the shelf. Later in the episode she told Joe that she still felt intense anger that she had outlived one of her children. I guess it's the last time Pauline was ever shown in anything resembling a sympathetic light.

In the same episode Ian was taking Bobby to the creche and Bobby emerged from the house wearing Lucy's old Cinderella costume. Tee hee. Maybe he clocked her because he found out she'd given it to Oxfam?

Britbox has Redwater-first episode is already up.

  10. The episodes of the final season of The Leftovers which were shot in Australia are now starting to air. Just when I was starting to wonder if any former Neighbours actors would pop up there was Meyne Wyatt (Nate Kinski) on my screen. And one of his first lines was actually "I know Chris"!

@TimWil, Angela Thornton as Lisa Kincaid is back and she's not taking it anymore!!

Ooooo, thanks for the heads-up! I will definitely watch Lisa Kincaid's return.

Sorry for the delay responding to your two earlier questions: I think Adam might have been just finishing his gig on SFT when I became friends with Angela. We never really chatted much. To be honest I found him to be somewhat cold and snobby. He was a privileged Upper West Side NY kid and I suspect he thought his s##t didn't stink. Angela obviously adored both her children, though. She was a great mother and I feel terribly sorry for them now-they were both very, very close to her. As to Geri's feelings about James Pritchett I think she liked him fine. He was a thorough professional and a family man who was grateful to have a steady, relatively lucrative gig. One little detail I remember Geri telling me: Armand Assante had terrible body odor. Some of the cast actually walked up to Joe Stuart's office to complain. It took a while but Assante eventually took care of the problem. I remember when Geri got that Kate & Allie role-she was so excited to do it. She was really hoping to break out of soaps to do more primetime work but it just wasn't plentiful in NYC in those days.

  12. What was with the excessive make up on Jonathan Wrather (Pierce) in tonight's episode? It was distracting. He's a fine specimen of a man, I don't think he needed a truckload of rouge to look good for the wedding episode.

Does anybody else think it might turn out that Pierce had raped Tess on their wedding night, too? That could have been what Pierce's mother was referring to?
