The 5th circuit has reinstated the Texas abortion ban. Surprise, surprise. NOT. The 5th circuit is the GQP on steroids.

The old, rich, white male Republicans win...AGAIN. Yeah, who didn't see that coming?

  2. I'm still trying to figure out exactly what the 1/6 committee's endgame is. They keep saying they don't want anything like that to ever happen again. But they don't really say anything about accountability, or prison. I don't know what to believe.

Ooof to the Summer stuff.  Now that you are telling me this it is sort of coming back to me.  It was just a very b story at the time.   Didn't Summer tragically die?

Yes. It turned out that Nikolas had hired Summer to come to town in the first place. (Which made no sense, but nothing about the entire story did.)

Meanwhile, Stefan was not a fan of Nikolas (Tyler had just returned to the show - his first return) falling for newly returned Emily (Natalia Livingston) and was determined to stop it. There was some party and Stefan, trying to bump off Emily ended up killing Summer instead. Lucky (Greg Vaughan at the beginning of his GH run) found her. That's all I remember.

Jax dumped Brenda at the altar after she kissed Sonny and she left town.  It wasn't all that dramatic, but a crappy thing for Jax to do knowing her history.

    Thanks. What a cop-out.

Getting back to Summer, the absolute lowest point of an already low story was she and Luke re-enacting the legendary night at Wyndham's Department Store. 🤮 Yes, they danced to "Fascination". It was completely gross, and I think the message boards at that time had a field day!!

Do you think the show was willing to let Genie go easily because they got Vanessa?  Worked out well lol

It worked out well in the short-term, for sure. I don't even remember how Brenda left in 2003.

GH definitely has a long history of not appreciating Genie. She should and deserves to be to GH what Susan Lucci and Erika Slezak were to AMC and OLTL. I always thought that Laura was a much more interesting character than Luke (or Stefan, for that matter).

I don't remember the details of the story but I remember it being awful.

I believe it started out with Luke hiring Summer to dress and act like Laura (Genie Francis had just left the show after playing the reviled mental breakdown story). It never got better. 🤮

I think Lemay's original instinct that Steve/Rachel/Alice was played out was correct.

They were front and center for about 7 years, right? It's amazing that they kept that up for so long. It probably was past time to move the characters into other orbits.

Almost every story was decent too except for the Lucky/Luke/Summer stuff.

That whole story was such a dud. No offense to Brittney Powell. She could have been good with Greg Vaughan, but he made his GH debut too late to save that story.

She would come in, mix it up and leave. That I'm fine with and it suits her; there's a proud tradition of that with characters like Tracy, Marco Dane, etc. She should still be doing that tbh. But on contract as an 'honorary Quartermaine' or with Luke - please God, no.

She'd be a much of a beloved character as them if that had happened.

To me, RC is very cold as an actress.  Very old Hollywood.  I never really connected with her as Skye.  And while I liked Jax/Skye and thought they had good chemistry, the whole romance felt super rushed so they could be married before Brenda came back.   On the other hand, the Brenda/Jax/Skye stuff really gave RC some of her best material on GH and some of her best scenes are with VM.  The scene where Brenda hands a drunk Skye a drink is one my favorites.  It was a brutal and bitchy take by Vanessa, but Robin was excellent.

RC never originated a soap role, to my knowledge. She was the second (but not last) Skye on AMC and had the unenviable task of filling Alicia Coppola as Lorna on AW. It would have been nice to see her take on a brand-new character.

It's a shame RC never got another chance for an Emmy because she really was a good actress.

Yes, she was. She was often understated, which I think was often lost on Emmy voters. RC wasn't flashy like VM.
