The alternative is they're going to try living in Malibu or Santa Monica or Santa Barbara for a year and see how they like it and, if so, sell in Bel-Air. Each of those areas is far enough away from the Bel-Air lifestyle/commute that you might consider trying before buying.

Yes, except you can't get permits to film a reality show in Malibu or Montecito unless your last name is Bell. So, unless she's planning on the leaving the cast, one would wonder why she would consider moving away from the westside?

  2. I understand that Keke Palmer's boyfriend was wrong for criticizing her for dressing too sexy on social media.  I also get, after reading the tweets from Jonah Hill's ex that this type of behavior may indicate larger concerns about boundaries and control.

However, I think there is room for a discussion that it seems ridiculous to break up with the father of your child because they tweeted something stupid.  I mean, which is worse publicly shaming a celebrity spouse, or abandoning a relationship because of what social media followers may perceive about your lover?  I'm just saying, it seems like a rather immature response to bend so easily to social pressure when there are children involved.

I read this story yesterday.  My first thought was that the decor was so specific that it couldn't have been their original plan to use it as a rental, which made me question if it is a money issue.  Then, I read her reasoning that she wants something like a fresh start, which made me question if they are getting a divorce.  Finally, as a RHoBH fan, I wondered if they ever finished their basement reno.

I never realized that they bought a tear-down in upper Bel Air, and then built their home from scratch.  Taste is subjective, and I don't appreciate theirs, yet that is an impressive amount of wealth. I guess she didn't only marry Rob for his good looks...

  4. I wonder if this means we'll see less of Sloan in the future (which would be a shame because she was growing on me).

We hear Del Vecchio, 28, one of the world’s youngest billionaires, popped the question while they were vacationing at the five-star Borgo Santandrea Luxury Hotel on Italy’s Amafi coast. - sounds nicer than spending time in Burbank...

  5. Leo & Gwen working together to turn the tables on Dimitri would at least give them some agency.  They both get abandoned or ignored by every crush that they have in town.  They've got to use those journalism skills for something.

Also, unpopular opinion, I get that many of you don't like the show.  I mean, you say it every single day.  But, perhaps we can find more unique ways of announcing your displeasure?  There's some irony that those who denounce the quality of the writing the most are often the least creative in their critiques.  I'm not trying to gatekeep or silence anyone, I just want a bit more amusement when reading the posts.  May I suggest a pun or a poem?

But, to anyone who would take personal offense to my feedback, I didn't mean you.

  6. Unpopular opinion (maybe), but I hope Leo rejects Dimitri in an effort to maintain his friendship with Gwen.  I enjoy Leo and Gwen's banter, and even a suspected mother-killer needs at least one alliance.  Although I don't understand why Gwen and Xander can't just be friends, she got over her crush on him rather quickly and their office animosity seems unjustified.

I knew it the second I heard Peter Porte was coming back

The character was definitely coded as gay, he's close to his mother, fascinated by jewelry, enjoys strapping guys to chairs, not married by 40, and, European (tee hee).

But, his prior flirtation with Billie and number of times that he's had sex with Gwen are definitely misleading.  I just hope that we are not being set up with a story of a straight man "pretending" to be gay in order to maintain his con.  Or, more regressive, a nefarious bisexual character who uses intimacy with either gender as a means to an end.  But, I wouldn't put anything past Jamey, whose knowledge of sexual liberation seems stuck in the first season of Queer Eye.

  8. The makeup department is doing the most when it comes to making Shawn's eyes look bloodshot and drunk.  Meanwhile, the hair department is doing the least when it comes to Nicole and that ponytail.

The Von Leushners make no sense whatsoever.  Why would they randomly choose Dimitri's 40th birthday as the date for him to be married?  And, why would they write it down for Leo to find?  BTW, in the US these types of codicils where people have to be married or have a baby to inherit property aren't legal, but I guess the will was written in the mythical land of Soap-Europa, where every small town business has a foreign office.

Also, Lani's been let out jail to go to the funeral, but she's been everywhere but the memorial this week.

What's the point of yesterday's mention of Pine Valley, just after a scene featuring Martin?  Anyone think Martin is going to actually be Tad from AMC?  I hate that idea, but something must be afoot.   Any speculation???

    My bet is

    Spoiler

Hayden Barnes is Martin's ex-wife, the other Pine Valley doppelgänger who once lived in Port Charles, and would cause trouble for Ava, Finn, and Elizabeth if she returned

  10. I wonder if we'll get Dimitri's backstory now that Megan is gone?

One imagines Leo will finally stop exploring the tunnels (where Dimitri has never been), and at least Google the Von Leushners?  I am interested to know if/when we'll find out who are his parents.

I'm always fascinated by the ages on DAYS, just because time moves so weirdly.  We know Dimitri is almost 40, and given that Gwen is older than Abigail, she could be in her mid30's.  But, does this make them significantly older than Chad?  Is he older than EJ?

  11. I guess Steve Burton isn't concerned about getting typecast as a mindless goon who is easily manipulated into becoming a contract killer.  Someone should tell him that it is not a compliment to his talent that he keeps getting parts as an emotionally detached guy recovering from brain surgery.

When Marlena's hypnotic abilities become a magical healing power?  She's like the good-Rolf, without the need for all that equipment.

Speaking of equipment, is anyone going to investigate how Li got a hold of plutonium for Rolf?  Certainly, that's a crime in and of itself.

When did Kristin decide to wear black leather every day, in the summer?

Speaking of fetishes, DAYS has a thing with handcuffing people to beds.

  12. The Threads setup was super simple, it automatically imports all of your Instagram follows and followers.  I don't have many concerns about data mining, in fact, I prefer ads tailored to what I am searching for.  It looks exactly like twitter, and because it comes from Meta, all the news and information sites are already proving information.  So far, so good.

I wonder if it will be a VHS v Betamax thing because Instagram doesn't allow nudity, but twitter does?  If history tells us anything, porn always wins.

Yeah, I mentioned that already upthread.

You know what they say, "great minds think alike, and fools seldom differ."

Also, I went back to vault to see the previous year's July 4th episode, and there's a notable difference that Mamie is no longer stuck in the kitchen in her uniform for the whole party by the time this episode aired.

  14. Do the ages add up?

If Jerry/Faux Theo was on Body & Soul during Abe's mayoral campaign, wouldn't he have been a teenager?

I find myself amused by the Abe story, except for the conceit that he doesn't like Whitley, but still accepts and forgives everything she says on a daily basis.  Like, the whole story hinges on him not leaving the apartment, and now that he's healed and mobile, there's no logical reason why he wouldn't venture outside while she's gone.

It added so much resonance to what Neil was saying and I understood perfectly why it had to be Neil/Kristoff delivering the speech. It could really only be him.

And, of course, to put it in perspective this was just a few months after the LA Riots, so the issue was in the public conscience.

Today's episode featured the debut of the new DiMera Study set, which means the end, at least for now, of the DiMera Mansion set, which had been a "Days" staple since it first debuted as the Donovan Mansion set on October 3, 1988. After Shane left town in 1992, Kimberly (and later Bo and Carly) lived in the mansion in 1993. It became the DiMera Mansion when the family was first seen there on February 3, 1994. In recent interviews, Lauren Koslow stated the new study set is being used because it is smaller and quicker to build and take apart. The DiMera Mansion's final appearance was for Sami's last scene on October 30, 2014. It had been the second longest-running set in use on "Days", besides the Horton Living Room set, which has been in use since the show's pilot episode in 1965

My memory is that the original mansion (where Renee was murdered, and it had the tunnels to Doug's Place) had been Stuart Whyland's (Sarah's biological grandfather) house, but Tony forced him out of town.  Then, after Stefano died the first time, Liz and Neil lived there (meaning that Sarah should have some rights to that house).  Finally, when Stefano returned his company bought a different mansion, formerly Shane's home, which according to cannon is owned by whomever is the CEO of DI, that was used to explain why Gabi owned it for a short time.

In my imagination, this is the same space where Susan and John got married, (and her teeth flew out), but since the renovation in 2021 we are seeing it from the opposite side of the room, which is why the entrance is now stage left.

I 'm pretty sure Ron was just being lazy and didn't want to pin Laura's death on Gwen.  He just might bring it back later.

It reminds me of the story of Phyllis's therapist on Y&R who "fell" out of the window over a decade ago, but the case has never been solved.  Because the audience didn't see him die, we are left with the impression that Phyllis (and Gwen) are capable of lethal vengeance, but there's enough plausible deniability to avoid consequences.  Although we hate to see Laura go, it is so much juicier knowing that only Gwen knows how she met her demise...

Ron has an odd relationship with fans.  I think because he is so accessible on social media, people have developed a parasocial relationship where they project all kinds of crap on him while really only knowing very few details about his character.  The fact that he's gay gets somehow conflated with a desire to want to show hunky men, as if Bill Bell didn't write men in Speedos for decades at a time.  I mean, it is funny to think how Ina or Agnes would've admonished fans if they were able to clap back at the audience.  But, I've never had the sense that Ron is either lazy, burnt out, or dismissive about trying to create an entertaining show.

I can't wait to see if they celebrate the 4th in Salem, especially because it seems like Juneteenth was two days in their timeline.

  18. Sonny advising Drew how to survive in prison was preposterous. Sonny has a panic attack any time he sees someone in an orange jumpsuit, he's hardly an expert on the subject.

Which may be why Drew made the type of mistake one could see from a mile away by taking anything from Cyrus (are there no surveillance cameras in this prison?).  And how does he not know Cyrus, who just terrorized Spencer a few months ago?  Also, did they need to write in the judge thing so we wouldn't question why a white collar criminal is in the same prison are murders and drug traffickers?  Because somehow Heather Webber's lounging in a country club jail as a serial killer, while Drew's doing hard time.

Also, Carly lost 5 million dollars?  I wonder if they'll follow up on that detail, or just pretend like Carly's got good credit and move on.
