  1. If they exist at all it's in the beginning of their career. Even then they are "unicorns".
  2. I do. I even see it in this healthcare bill. Sure, he isn't murdering the disabled, but he's making it a lot more likely that they'll die. I can't get over how despicable it is, although I think Paul Ryan is even more responsible in this case. We all know he's just been waiting for his chance to bleed the poor, old and disabled.
  3. ^ I think Hitler killed 11 million. I hope that doesn't seem like a nitpick.
  4. I agree. They will all be bought off or pressured into complying. I hope not, but it just seems like that's how it goes.
  5. Looks like he's going to try it though. Damn, some men just have endless nerve. http://www.msn.com/en-us/news/other/bill-cosby-to-hold-‘town-halls’-on-sexual-assault-following-mistrial/ar-BBD320X?li=BBnbcA1
  6. Maybe Hillary should have lied more about jobs, but I do think she touted issues like inclusiveness, immigration and the right to choose. I don't think she had it in her to just tell people what the want to hear when it comes to the economy. In other news, Iowa seems to be going the way of Kansas and Illinois. Severe budget problems with a governor who thinks the answer is tax cuts. How many times does this strategy have to fail before common sense prevails? http://www.stormlake.com/articles/2017/06/21/iowa’s-budget-mess
  7. Haven't they done that? I feel like what the party stands for overall is pretty clear. IDK, maybe they do need to break it down into catchy phrases. One of the things I took from the 2016 election is that people want to be lied to. That seems really clear on the job front. Jobs for everyone would probably be a great slogan even though I don't think anyone believes that's possible.
  8. So you agree with someone using the word c*nt and then talk about sexism? Not sure how that works. Reducing a woman to her vag because you don't like her political stance is classic sexism.
  9. 15 years is a long time. Not just old white people are going to die unnecessarily in that time and by then climate change may be so far gone that the world as we know it is gone forever. The democrats need to find the right message in 2020 or one hell of a lot of unnecessary suffering is going to occur. Well, even more than is already coming from four years of 45. Let's not make it eight.
  10. I'm starting to wonder if there's even going to be an election in 2020. The way this WH is getting away with blocking the press is insane. http://thehill.com/homenews/media/338458-cnns-acosta-spicer-is-kind-of-useless
  11. It's looking like he's going to get away with it. If so, I hope his victims can look at the fact that he stood trial as some kind of victory. He almost got away with raping all of these women with his reputation in tact, so at least that didn't happen.
  12. Maybe, but I still understand the impulse.
  13. ^ It shouldn't have even taken that long, although I agree that's historic. Electing him to office will always be a blight on the Republic.
  14. ^ It was always out there, but I always expect them to be idiots and they aren't. Ben Carson is the most famous recent example. I just don't get it.
  15. I find myself thinking this fairly frequently. I grew up admiring people in academia and there weren't any nut jobs at my undergrad college, but there are some nuts out there, often at bigger schools where they can fly under the radar. It took me too long to realize people can be book smart and still totally off the rails.
  16. Yep. Completely disgusting.
  17. I find the shooting of an elected official disturbing under (almost) all circumstances. I agree this won't help gun control though. I feel it's lost cause for at least a decade. If little kids getting gunned down at school didn't change hearts and minds this won't either.
  18. He doesn't look well at all. CNN just had a clip of him being interviewed by a gaggle of reporters and he looks ill and a bit disoriented. I hope nothing happens to him. He's not perfect, but at least he wants an investigation. We need Republicans who are behind this effort. I just looked up his age. I had no idea he's already 80 years old. Ugh.
  19. Looks like Trump's foundation might have used a children's hospital charity to launder funds. http://thehill.com/homenews/administration/336564-trump-foundation-funneled-100k-in-donation-into-revenue-for-trump?rnd=1496776145 How is this man our president? It's been months and I still feel like I'm in the matrix. Didn't she actually say something like "I'm not in favor of a living wage?" How do you vote for someone who says that?
  20. ^ My deepest apologies.
  21. But he's sooo awful. I'm sure I would have had my price when I was younger and poor AF, but I was too naive to realize the power of that 18-28 range when I was in it. I'd say it's better to social climb with a guy who's much older, but just a decent upper middle class guy. If I were married to someone like Trump I'd always be wondering how good the CSI team in my city really is and I'd be in an orange jumpsuit soon enough.
  22. I don't think I could do it once even for a billion dollars.
  23. Plus Hillary isn't in public office. Trump is. When people bring up HRC now it's just a deflection. Nothing she did or may have done justifies anything the President has done.
  24. The Kathy Griffin thing was pretty disturbing to me. It's also hard for me to put in context because I hate Trump so much. I think if someone had done the same thing to one of our other presidents I would be even more disgusted with them. I know Ted Nugent made terrible comments about President Obama, but talking about it seems different than doing a photo shoot with a mock severed head. WTF was she thinking? Also, TN is another person I wrote off as a crackpot ages ago. I will say its ridiculous that Trump has invited him to the white house after he made threats against the last President. @MissLlanviewPAI think this thread needs optimistic voices. I can't really be one of them, but none of us know what's coming. Maybe this horror show will feel like nothing but a bad dream 10 years from now.
  25. I've disliked Bill Maher, since he thought it was cool to defend that teacher who raped (and got pregnant by) her 12 year old student because "boys are different". Then he took such obvious glory in saying that women didn't care how many little kids were left without arms as long as they got their diamonds. By the time he got around to denigrating Muslims, I had written him off, but this latest event comes as no surprise.
