BTG: February 2025 Discussion Thread
There were many positives about the first week such as the sets, the costumes, and the actors. Overall the acting on the show was above average compared to other daytime soap operas premieres. The character that intrigued me most was Leslie. I agree about the dialogue being a mix bag: especially the exposition dialogue. Lines like "Are you the Salami Police?" and word choices like "shabbily" does comes across as campy or odd. I worried about Karla Mosley and her acting choices. She plays the lowkey scenes great, but once she goes "over the top", the acting is all over the place (and not in the fun campy way). I haven't watch 5 episodes of a current daytime soap in years. I'm excited to see what comes next.

ARTICLE: Soap Central Acquired By India-Based Absolute Sports For $1.4 Million, Founder Dan Kroll to Exit
Update: Days of Our Lives 90's daily recaps have been either confirmed or saved General Hospital 90's daily recaps have been all saved under their new web address. General Hospital is the only soap that has the new updated design as of today. The yearly recap webpages have not been updated with the new design but the daily recaps pages have been updated with new design and have brand new webpage address. This is causing a problem with the Internet Archived. Within Internet Archived, any daily recaps that were not previous saved with the old web address is currently not linking to the new web address making it appeared those recaps were not saved. Unfortunately as of right now, the only way in the future to see the newly saved daily recaps within Internet Archive is changing the dates at the end of the web address. For example; For January 04, 1999 - https://web.archive.org/web/20240807204513/https://www.soapcentral.com/general-hospital/general-hospital-weekly-recap-for-990104 For January 11, 1999 - https://web.archive.org/web/20240807204505/https://www.soapcentral.com/general-hospital/general-hospital-weekly-recap-for-990111 In other words, you might just want to use HTTTrack or saved pages that you want to keep.

I just finished One Life To Live. I have either confirmed or saved the Daily Recaps for all the canceled soaps that was on the site (there were broken links that could not be saved but mostly from One Life to Live). I just finished One Life To Live. Update: Completed all of The Young & The Restless + The Bold & The Beautiful 90's Recaps. Another World Sunset Beach Passions Port Charles Guiding Light As The World Turns All My Children One Life To Live Interesting side notes: *Passions was the only canceled soap that had all their daily recaps previous saved. *Guiding Light and As the World Turns seemed to had the least saved. *Recaps from the 1990's were almost never saved from all the soaps.

I just opened the links in the wayback machine to see if they have been archived. I saved it that way if it hasn't been saved. However, I sometimes used the extension. I finished up As The Word Turns yesterday, started on All My Children (just finished up to 1996).

I have internet archive all the recaps that had valid links for Another World, Port Charles, Sunset Beach, and confirmed all for Passions. I'm currently working on Guiding Light (I'm up to 1999). Most of 90's recaps from these soaps were not archive.

The Doctors Discussion Thread
I found this interesting. March 21, 1968 - Days of Our Lives was preempted due to Nelson Rockefeller Dropping out of the Presidential Race. Both the New York Times and the L.A. Times (#1 & # 2 markets) had listings for the pre-planned conference. New York Times listed a game show called The Baby Game in the 2:30pm listing instead of The Doctor. The LA Times lists The Doctors "may be pre-empted." A Newspaper article states that Rockefeller had 8 minutes for his conference. I still have no idea if The Doctors was preempted that day or not

I believe the Doctors was only Pre-Empted on the April 9, 1968. MLK JR was assassinated on April 4, 1968 at 6:01 pm Central Time. The coverage of the assassination most likely didn't impact any of the NBC soaps in the lower 48 states, unless Another World aired at 4pm in the Pacific Time Zone in some markets. I have noticed, the app switches between airdates and production/tape dates, how often I'm not sure. The most noticeable that i have found so far is in October of 1971; the app shows no episodes between 10/23/1971 - 11/01/1971 (6 airdates). According to the jason47.com/days/preemptions, the Playoffs and the World Series aired on 10/4/1971, 10/5/1971, 10/6/1971, 10/11/1971, 10/12/1971, 10/14/1971 (6 airdates); the app shows episodes of the Doctors aired those days. The Doctors was most likely was preempted during the Playoffs/World Series and production took a break from filming on 10/23/1971 - 11/01/1971.

It's a complicated mess trying to figure out which episodes have aired on Retro, episodes that have been uploaded in the app, and which episodes are just missing. The first episode currently missing from the app is what IMDB list as: S1.E1403 ∙ Episode #1.1403 Wed, Apr 17, 1968 Maggie becomes reacquainted with Ed. Althea labels Ralph a fanatic cultist. Matt questions Nick about the exact words Lila used when Nick and Althea thought she wanted them to treat her. Ed asks Nick about rumors around the hospital regarding the Andersons. Nick and Ed argue about getting involved with patients. Althea fills Maggie in on the details of the Andersons and potential legal problems for Hope Memorial. Maggie vows that this time, she'll be beside Matt when he needs her.

Has anyone have a guide/list of the missing episodes that have not been uploaded to the It's real good tv app. It appears that some episodes that aired on Retro channel are not uploaded. For example, June 24, 25, 26, 1968 episodes are missing and June 27, 1968 is uploaded twice as 27-28. By coincidence I have these missing episodes from this week, so i know that they aired on Retro.
