I would love to know, but I am sure we never will. Like you said, Jason is not a character that the show has ever been cavalier about especially with love interests. I wonder if post-Covid the tension and chaos was too much behind the scenes and some things got rewritten. Even if KT was talking up Jason/Britt in her exit interview perhaps she was uncomfortable working with Steve until he was vaxxed?

I considered the fact that they knew Steve was going to be let go and they went all in on Carly because MB's story needed to be ramped up since he was going to be the main leading man again? Perhaps it had something to do with the uncertainty of KT's contract status at the time? I know people said she was recurring, doing a short stint, then reupped, but I am not sure when that happened and how it lines up with story. Perhaps they were eventually going to circle back to Britt and Steve got fired. Another odd thing to me is that once Sam/Jason broke up there wasn't any hint there were still feelings nor has there been much to Sam/Drew since CM came on.

Days: January 2023 Discussion Thread
Well, I guess Alex has become the heavy is this Chad/Stephanie/Alex triangle. Can't say I am mad about that. So, I may be way off base here, but this story about the poison feels like a John/Marlena story that the other two couples were inserted into after someone initially pitched the story. Or maybe even a Beyond Salem 3 plot that got scrapped or drawn out in a weird way. The quickness of the deaths of Kate and Kayla and the marginalization of Steve/Roman's point of view just makes me feel like this was really only supposed to be a John/Marlena arc and the other women were thrown in to give them story. It's like we are getting Kate/Kayla out of the way to get to the main plot (John vs. Orpheus and Marlena's death) instead of it actually being about three couples/three families. Even Kristen having the orchid feels more focused on John/Marlena/family. Anyway, I know Kate/Kayla have been part of the story since the beginning, but they feel like side characters instead of equal parts in this and it's just weird to me. The main point in Kayla dying today was to give Stephanie/Alex angst and the main point of Kate dying was to give Lucas angst and to give JT some moments to sob?/act?/moan? for a scene. Outside of pacing something about the structure of this story is just very odd. @Vee Beyond Salem was better than Beyond Salem 2 unless you are big Bo/Hope fan. It was good, but I definitely enjoyed the first one more.

Yes, I seem to recall KeMo tweeting a few things about it and perhaps passive aggressively speaking to mags in a way you knew she was unhappy about his firing. The Carly/Jason thing is perplexing. Steve was so against it like you said. I wonder if he thought going along with Carly/Jason when it was written would help him with his vax stance since he was being a team player about storylines. Or he lost his power after they fired him the first time and his objections were ignored. As to why it was written the way it was, I can't even begin to speculate.

It always seemed Kelly was checked out of Jason/Sam once SBu returned. She seemed to enjoy working with Billy Miller/Drew. Maybe she though that a Dante pairing would give her more to do? It didn't though lol. I am just not sure if Kelly who is someone who cares enough to push an agenda or a new pairing when Jasam earned her most of her fans. I always thought it was SBu. He did seem to be into the Britt/Jason pairing. That was the most I have seen SBu into a love scene in years. No idea why they shifted to Jason/Carly. I would assume for maximum impact when Sonny returned, but it really just fizzled instead.

Dex told Joss not to come forward. Dex shot at the Hook and used a gun Sonny gave him. She didn't want Dex to get in trouble for shooting the gun and/or working for Sonny. That was how Dex explained it before Britt died when everyone seemed to be okay. I am not saying that makes a ton of sense, but that was the logic Joss/Dex were using. He also said he got the bullet casing so there was no evidence of a shot. I am not really sure why they aren't coming forward now.

Yes. I mean, technically we don't know for sure, but I am sure something will bring her back.

It would have made sense if someone poisoned Kate's martini and then she died. But she was talking about feeling okay and beating the illness and croaked by episode's end. It was all very unintentionally humorous. Rex worked for about 1 scene to revive her and was like "nope..too late dead. Sorry dad."

Days: January 2023 Discussion Thread
I was happy people were laying into Kristen too, but she got Rachel back 5 minutes later so meh...I don't really understand why John/Marlena were acting out their fight beforehand with water lol. It's not like the two of them have never gotten into a fight before over Kristen. Obviously we discuss pacing all the time, but Kate was drinking a martini then died of her illness in the same episode. Talk about taking all the tension out of everything. This episode could have been stretched out for days (except for the stupid Alex/Stephanie stuff)

Wow! Thanks! That was excellent. I have really liked LD in clips I have seen especially relating to her alcoholism. I guess it just didn't translate that well to ABC soaps lol. @KristinI personally never knew how many people used the phrase 'daddy' as adults to their parents or how strongly people felt about it until I mentioned it on here that I didn't like it. I literally thought it was a phrase used on tv way more than in real life until others corrected me and said it was very normal and common. It's still weird Skye said it to Alan for a lot of reasons mostly because it happened so quickly after she found out, but it's not near the top of my list as to why I can't stand her.

Lol! At least I can talk about how much I hate Carly and Crystal Chappell again without fear of several hundred posts telling me why she's amazing! Like I said upthread, I do think RC's a good actress too. I just don't think she had any standout material except for her 2002-2003 stuff on GH.

I can't recall watching either Lorna with LD because I didn't watch much AW either. Only the last few minutes before Days started back in the day, so I have no frame of reference. Through soap mags and propaganda, I just assume RC/LD were great together because ABC made them a mother/daughter duo again. I was surprised to find out that wasn't exactly the case and a lot of people didn't like RC's take on Lorna. Carrie Genzel was my first experience with Skye as well and I liked her a lot. It's a bit difficult to reconcile her portrayal and RC's though.

I have always thought disliking Skye was a minority opinion as well and it probably still is. For years I would go on boards or around the web and hear how robbed RC was of an emmy and how Skye deserved all the stories and how amazing she was lol. This is the first board where I have seen posters articulate the way I feel about Skye and RC. I had never heard RC was a bad fit on AW until this board either. The thing is no matter how lovely or great RC is she didn't work on GH or OLTL. Anyway, now you know you have a safe place to hate Skye here with myself, @Vee and @Darn lol.

Days: January 2023 Discussion Thread
The pacing of the show is insane and ridiculous, but technically Kristen overheard him talking to Eric. He said he was going to tell her when he asked for the ransom, so I think Brady was going to come clean pretty fast anyway. He had to. There was no way him/Eric would get away with it for long since Rachel is with Eric. The plan was just very silly in general and Eric/Brady are the world's worst kidnappers.

That researcher who found that blurb about Mac/Dominique deserves a raise lol! It seems so silly to bend all credibility to give Mac/Dom a child. I am pretty sure no one ask for that in the entire current viewing audience (possibly in viewer history)! Just give Mac a kid from some nameless lass in Australia. Didn't Mac meet Dominique before she came to PC or was that all shown on screen too? For some reason I thought she follow him to Port Charles or something.

General Hospital: January 2023 Discussion Thread
I don't think most of what happened in PC is considered cannon on GH except some marriages/divorces and Karen's death. And anything Rex Stanton did shouldn't be because he was awful. Poor Wayne.... How would you have written Cody as a Barrett? Julia could be his mother I guess (he's actually a little old or at least Josh Kelly is), but she didn't hook up with Mac. He could be Bill Eckert, Ned or AJ's son and Ned would really be the only character of relevance currently. It would be much more plausible if he was an unknown Barrett sibling that was out to get the Barrett fortune, but again there's no relevancy without Julia or Brenda and the show already passed up that oppurtunity with the bizarrely unrelated Cooper Barrett 15 or so years ago. Anyhow, that's going down a Barrett family rabbit hole and I was just actually curious how you would see that playing out lol Regardless, I want to know what he and Dante did in his crazy past, but that's all. The show would be better served bringing back established characters that age like Lucky or Zander or even Sly over Cody. Agreed. Mac could have had a son before he appeared in PC that was a con without tying it to Dominique.

I have always had issues with Joss's (and Michael's) Sonny hate. Characters should hate Sonny, but Joss was always one of Sonny's biggest cheerleaders even against her own father. So when she decided to hate Sonny/Nina it also felt hypocritical because there was always a sliding scale of Sonny's crimes especially when Joss benefitted from them.

The show started toning Alex down a bit from being one big giant red flag, but now that Alex is back. Everything about that conversation was so cringe and possessive that I think Alex is one Chad/Stephanie hug away from kidnapping Stephanie and strangling Chad with a necktie.🤣

Days: January 2023 Discussion Thread
Insecurities is one thing, but Alex has been nearly obsessed with Stephanie from the jump and it's creepy. They have dating for about 5 min and Alex thinks he has a right to tell Stephanie what to do with her time? Or tell her she was leading Chad on?

Short Term, Big Impact
I feel like Isabella on Days may own this. I think she was only on for 3 years (maybe 4), but she was relevant for at least a decade after her death. While someone like Carly who ate the show for her 3 years in the same time period was barely spoken about 6 months later (until they brought CC back).

Lol! Whoops. I thought you were okay with Skye being a Q. I got used to it after a while, but if Skye were an independent character I would have liked her with BW's AJ. I thought they had great chemistry and it would have been fun for AJ to get an upper hand and screw over Edward. I actually thought TG suggested RC/Skye as his love interest though. Or he especially enjoyed working with her or some nonsense. I mean, there were four soaps. At least pick one age range. They were plenty of 40 year old characters to choose from. Too easy. Linda Dano would have only needed to go to one soap in that case. Sonny finally found a character more slutty than himself lol.

I would have been fine with keeping Skye a Q too. RC worked the best with members in the family even if it was stupid. I also think it would have been fine if they kept Skye mostly in the Jax/Carly/Sonny orbit. She hated Sonny, played off Carly well, and Jax/Skye were always weirdly unfinished post-Brenda. Once they threw her at Luke I was out. Lila Rae should come back though as a little trouble maker Lol at Guza just leaving her parentage unfinished. It was such a messy story from start to finish. Rae didn't know if her child was male or female or even the right age range lol.

Skye's arc and backstory were just bananas. I don't even know who her actual father is. Someone would have to tell me. Her throughline to me is being a drunk and that's not good, but it's the most consistent thing about her character lol. I think the consensus is she worked best on GH because that's where she still tended to show up after she left acting. Alan adopted her. Like legally adopted a grown woman officially. I am also pretty sure Guza de-Qed her to pair her with Ned for all of ten minutes lol
