Up to July 3rd, 1992. 🐦 "Lady in red." 🔷 Back to my regular 1-2 episodes a day schedule. ❤️ So what is going on right now? 🔷 Blair finally slept with Asa. He pressured her into it... and the whole thing was incredibly inappropriate. Now he has an even bigger agenda - 1 time a month is not enough... he wants something more - a baby! A true Buchanan heir who will be his dynasty successor. Then he promised he will "release" Blair from this "arrangement". Jesus Christ. This is becoming more and more disturbing each day. Asa treats Blair like she is a paid prostitute. A trophy wife he can use and dispose of when he wants. I pray to God she either poisons him or takes all his money. HE NEEDS TO FALL ON HIS ASS! 🔷 Andrew did something astonishing and beautiful - he turned one man's memorial into a way to connect with all of Llanview society. He used this as an opportunity to open their eyes to something all of them are scared to look at. The elephant in the room. He started talking about the AIDS epidemic and the fact that the virus can touch anyone - no matter their gender or sexual preference. He wanted to de-stigmatize it. But... the effect was quite the opposite. Many people left disgusted... his own father Sloan went into a rage... and then Andrew was borderline attacked by Billy's parents who saw this as a sign that Marty told them the truth - that Andrew is seducing Billy. I can't repeat myself enough when I tell you that I HATE the "Marty" people of this world. What a despicable VILE LIAR. What this girl did is inexcusable. She basically destroyed Andrew's life. 🔷 Leanne did the unthinkable - she confessed to Kevin that little Duke is not his son... but Max's. But is he? I'm not so sure. Maybe karma has one last surprise for her. One thing I know is that Leanne is like a toxic leech that sucks the life out of anyone she touches. She is incredibly selfish, unstable and opportunistic. Now that Jason is her next fixation, I fear what he'll have to endure. I prefer him with Dorian. 🔷 The 4th of July party is beginning. In the center of attention are the two women in red - Blair and Dorian. Dorian Lord is red... not only in clothing, but in temper too. She is having a verbal altercation with anyone she meets. First it was Alex, then it was Blair - her current arch nemesis - the two Alpha-females who despise each-other and yet have so much in common. You can even say... one is the younger version of the other. Blair, the other beauty in red... is wearing a dress that Asa gave her as a present, a dress she mocked and ridiculed before putting on. When they are alone... she is passive aggressive and cold. But when they are in front of other people... Blair puts on the mask and she suddenly becomes the perfect wife. Only one person sees through this - Max Holden. 🔷 In contrast to all of this toxicity, one surprising pair of characters is sharing more and more tender moments. Moments that bond. Victoria Buchanan can't stay away from Sloan Carpenter and I can see it coming. The affair that will rock her marriage. AND I'M HERE FOR IT. Maybe it's the fact that I've never seen her past with Clint... but I'm excited Viki is getting her own storyline that is not just a meddling mother. 🔷 Overall - 10 out of 10! I just saw this post. I'm so happy I'm not alone in my excitement. I remember watching the show as a child, but the storylines are blurry. I hope I can rewatch it from the beginning.

The only real "death" I see in soaps these days is... lack of creativity and good head writers. And I want to underline the word "head". With few exceptions... we just don't have what we used to have. I'm not putting everyone in the same box, there is the good, the bad and the ugly... but... I think some people just refuse to let it go... they've ran past their usefulness and talent (or lack of it)... deep down they KNOW it... but won't give new fresh voices a chance. That's a big, big topic that can go many directions. I just don't understand how some people can continue repeating 3 storylines for 10-20-30 years and think it's okay. There's no way for the genre to evolve and improve when it's the same trite every single year. Other than that... I believe in my heart of hearts that soap operas are a genre that has much life left in it. BTG's premiere this year proved this. The reality show phenomenon has slowly lost it's initial attraction, people crave scripted drama again... and are tired of watching 24/7 reality shows. People want to be entertained the good old fashioned way - they crave the drama, the suspense and the culminations of these stories. Aaaand in the age of the "hungry for quantity" viewer... who wants more and more and more content... soaps give that opportunity to binge watch in the "whatever" streaming platform as much as they want. They retain the viewers for a longer period. Yeah, it's great when a platform attracts new subscribers who want to watch a 10 episode a year show... (they made me subscribe for couple of months to watch AJLT) but what happens when that show ends and these viewers start cancelling their subscription? Soaps keep people FED and satisfied longer. I speak for myself. I prefer to watch a longer storyline (more episodes), I don't mind the 10-20 episodes shows, but I also crave that soapy never-ending sweetness and that feeling that I can always count on playing the next episode. Soaps also have the huge advantage of being able to tell a story with lots of points of view and play out every beat. It's not like a character meets someone and marries them in 2 episodes... and then divorces them in episode 8. Soaps give us the opportunity to bond with the characters - we see how their relationship starts, we see their troubles, we see their every-day dynamics, we see the humanity in depth. (If it's written adequately) Not that prime-time can't do that in their own way, of course... but soaps have much more time and opportunity to do this. Again... the biggest fear for me is that lack of creativity and writing talent will degrade the genre into something vile and stupid, where it will start completely losing it's appeal till one day it's a parody of the golden era and people don't even remember what it used to be. That's just my 2 cents.

Morgan (played by the wonderful Sarah Buxton) tells Ridge that his wife Taylor has written a letter specifically asking HIM to sleep with Morgan... LOL... so that she can "mourn the loss of her dead baby" 20 years ago... And this is only the beginning. Ridge actually took that printed letter as something that his wife would actually ask of him... and proceeded to penetrate and impregnate Morgan. Imagine sleeping with your wife's best friend, because she wrote you a letter asking you to help her mourn. Of course Taylor did not write any letter and any sane person who is not a creep or an idiot would know that their wife will never ask of them to f-ck another woman. This is the exact type of stuff that makes people cringe when they hear someone say "soap opera". Bradley Bell has done so much damage to this genre.

Up to June 30th, 1992. ⭐ "One little... lie... can destroy lives." 🔷 Long time no see... Maxim had a bit of a stressful week at work, so I haven't had the time to sit down and write everything down. But I did not stop watching. I'm nearly 10 episodes further into the drama. So what is going on right now? 🔷 Billy (who I just recognized is the actor that stars in "I know what you did last summer") confessed he is gay to Joey. The boy's reaction was the expected one. He was quite confused and didn't know what to say... but being the good little fellow that he is... he managed to utter something like - "We are still friends." The problem is that this Marty-snake person, who I'm slowly beginning to despise... heard their conversation. Later when she stopped by Andrew, she tried to seduce him in a very inappropriate scene - isn't she like... in her late teens or something?! Or did I get her age wrong? Ugh... Andrew, of course... rejected her offer, so she got incredibly sour and bitter... and then proceeded to do something beyond despicable. I MEAN BEYOND DESPICABLE. She called Billy's parents and LIED to them that she saw Andrew trying to MOLEST Billie. THIS SHOCKED ME TO MY CORE. Marty is acting like an "East From Eden" antagonist. She is vile. I get that she is broken, toxic, young... etc... but THIS IS HOW she repays Andrew for trying to help her? NO GOOD DEED GOES UNPUNISHED. 🔷 Leanne broke new-Kevin's heart by revealing to him she loves Jason and wants to spend her life with him. This was way over the top, even for Leanne and I really don't get where they are going with her character. She is illogical and messy. Maybe that's how she is... but I don't get it. At this point, I'm not rooting for her, quite the contrary. And I pity that Jason will be the next of her "mistakes" even though he is deeply in love with her and their "teach me how to read" storyline was very nice. So yeah, Kevin is being played by a new actor... Kirk... I think his name was... and I actually prefer him to the old one. The old one was cute, but too kid-like. This one seems more mature and... just... more-real. For now. We had some amazing scenes with Viki greeting him and talking to him about Leanne. Then Leanne suddenly gave birth to a baby boy. Now she has another stupid plan to win custody of her child - she will just tell Max that it may be his and not Kevin and that way she think she can make Kevin leave her alone. Oh, Leanne... you are clueless. 🔷 The Sarah Buchanan trial went through all the motions and in the end we got Julia Medina getting roasted on the stand. She couldn't control herself and in a complete soap opera meltdown... stoop up from her chair and revealed that she could walk. Surprise, surprise. The witch is mobile! That hysteria was not enough to change the jury's mind and for now... Sarah is still going to prison. (I prefer she dies slipping on some stairs or something). So yeah... this dragging storyline of "Who Killed Carlo?" continues. 🔷 Blair and Asa came back from their honeymoon. And it was the opposite of a honeymoon. Blair once again refused to sleep with Asa. He tried threatening her again that if she refuses to provide sexual intercourse... her mother may end up in a home. Jesus Christ, Asa... you've hit ROCK BOTTOM. You are starting to act like a despicable perv. Blair couldn't wait a second after getting back... before making an excuse to see Max. This time to "warn him" to not visit Addie again. But honey... we know you went there to catch a glimpse of his butt, so you can imagine it later when you have to lie next to Asa. 🔷 Cain Rogan's new plan sounds quite absurd - he wants Tina to infiltrate Blair's life and pose as her friend... so that they can find evidence or stuff to break her marriage with Asa. As if Blair is that stupid to believe Tina could be her friend?!! 🔷 And last but not least... Sheila made a huge mistake... - she broke Troy's heart by telling him she does not want to marry him anymore. Of course... Hank was there to pick up the pieces and his mustache was more perky than usual. I am all team Troy... so Hank better watch out! Sheila disappointed me. Troy was and IS the better man. But... hey... love doesn't pick and choose. It just IS. So who can blame her? ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Scene of the day! Grumpy grandpa Asa wants to play with his wife, but she says NO.
