  1. MsQ, you are truly a Rennaissance gal. Writing, vids, graphics, espanol, statistics, oomphy hair commentary! I am constantly amazed by you. :D

BTW, speaking of constantly amazed by people, I just wanted to take a moment to say thank you to all of you who participate in the Ficathon and who write Tracy fic. I know it sounds corny, but our little Ficathon is such a safe place to play and explore, and it's that way because of all of you. I'm grateful that, in the heart of a little fanfic community, I've found so many writers willing to give of themselves, share, educate, and encourage each other. I feel braver as a writer there, because I know I can push myself, take risks, have fun, and I will get feedback (good and bad) that helps me grow. I hope you guys know how much I appreciate you, even though I'm in a dry spell right now. You are a truly amazing group of people. And to the readers who keep us going? *SMOOCHES* You are awesome, too!

  2. Summary of Long Weekend:

    1. Accomplished no writing.

    2. Accomplished no web work.

    3. Accomplished no chatting with friends online.

    4. Accomplished no laundry.

    5. Accomplished nothing.

    Yay.

And I left work with the Alabama warehouse in crisis and the on-site manager planning to work the entire weekend, so I can't wait to see what I walk into this morning. Ain't life great?

I didn't watch the rerun of GH yesterday. I think it's civilized that they give their employees the holiday off without making them work overtime to get a new episode in. I just wish they would have chosen a better episode to repeat. And then, MinervaFan looks back over the last six months of GH and realizes, wow, they really don't have much to choose from, do they?

Hey, I did see that MsQ added SCADS of YouTube links over on JE.com for Jane as Carrie (Guiding Light). That's positive, right? Right???

ETA: Ooh, I just saw MsQ's new video to the Martina McBride song! Yummy!!!!!!

  3. MsQ, your banner ROCKS! I love it. Trying to wrap myself around my brain this morning--feeling sluggish and hungry and stupid and we have to go to the bank to get checks to pay ALL our bills so things don't start getting shutting off since I was too frazzled this week to do any of it and I dreamed about Excel Spreadsheets ALL NIGHT LONG and my brain doesn't want to be awake but I'll shoot something if I go back to sleep and dream about another damned report!

    How are you guys?

PLEASE, Lainey, if you're free--Breakroom? I need the company of SANE people. I just freaking unsubscribed from an LJ community I CREATED because the new mods were just...well, I can't believe I left it. I'm just blown away.

  4. MsQ, I just read the latest chapters of "Oh, Baby!" Responded on The Vole Pit, but just wanted to emphasize how much I enjoyed them. I'm amazed at the way you can keep track of so many characters in one scene and still not have complete chaos. (I try never to have more than three characters in a scene if I can help it, two if I'm lucky.) And the last paragraph made me Squee!

Today is Friday before a long weekend, so work can go either one of two ways--it can be frantic and a nightmare, or it can be slow to the point of tears. Let's all root for the tears, okay? Because yesterday like to KEEL me! :D

I'm taking the weekend off from the DI site, because my Code Wizard (aka, Fey) is sick. So I will try to get the Masterlist organized and maybe some more fanfic written. If I'm lucky, maybe I'll get to chat, too. Cross your fingers, folks!

  5. The Geek must ask: Ms.Q, was your brother solving for T, Q, or TQ? I mean, was TQ one entity, or was it actually T times Q? So basically, what you'd be asking for is T times Q equals 7 times x minus 9? I'm assuming he needs to solve for T, Q, and x, then?

Oh, dear, gawd, it's too early in the morning to even admit I know that.

When the hell is Tracy coming back? We've devolved into discussing freakin' ALGEBRA on this thread?

I can see Tracy--"Algebra? You're discussing algebra on my thread? Business math at least, perhaps finance or statistics, but ALGEBRA?" I've been asked to return my Official Long Floaty Jacket for the rest of the day; I don't deserve to call myself a Tracy Fan at the moment.

ETA: Geometry. You're solving a geometry problem, not an algebra problem, which makes it all different. (I haven't worked a geometry problem since 1982, so your brother's on his own as far as I'm concerned.) Now Tracy wants me to fork over my Official Big Bulky Necklace along with my Official Long Floaty Jacket, because I didn't read the post clearly enough. Pretty soon, I'm going to permanently lose my Official ELQ Parking Permit, if I'm not careful.

ETA2: Help me, please. Help me, because I think I just remembered how to work that geometry problem. *handing over Official Martini Shaker in shame.*

  6. Is this spoiler some kind of a joke?

    Mindy's Mix

    From Mindy

    Hello GH Fans!

Welcome to another edition of Mindy's Mix

Grab a cool glass of lemonade and have a seat. Do I have some news for you. Just as Tracy heads back to Shadybrooke she gets pulled over by

the police. Seems she stole that wig from the wig botitque and didn't pay for it. She just might find herself at Pentonville next to Jason if she doesn't watch out.

Guza, stop taking that crack! You're making your mama CRY.

  7. Hi, gang: I have a serious jonesin' for Tracy fic, now that you have all whet my appetite. Whoever posted the plot bunny about ghost-Tracy...any chance I can take a stab at that? It sounds like it could be so much fun.

Please forgive this OT plug, but OLMV is a project that is near and dear to my heart. As a Louisiana native (born in down-town New Orleans and raised just an hour away), the events of Hurricane Katrina were a living nightmare to watch. I am not in a financial situation to be of much use to people, but I know that in my own little way I can help. I have donated my writing talent in exchange for charitable donations, and have worked to help raise awareness for Hurricane Relief.

One easy way to help with this ongoing situation is to buy a copy of One Life, Many Voices (see my sig line for a link), starring many of the actors on One Life To Live. This is one of my favorite CDs, with incredible performances by Renee Goldsberry, Kathy Briers, Bree Williamson, Robin Strasser, Erika Slezak, Ilene Kristen, Kassie De Paiva, and more.

If you are interested in learning more about this project, or ways you can help the people of New Orleans and the Gulf Coast who are still struggling in the aftermath of this national tragedy (don't get me started on The Administration Who Must Remain Unnamed), please read the following email from The Robin Strasser Group:

This week life changed forever for thousands of

residents along the Gulf Coast. We need your help to raise both

money and awareness… we can't help rebuild the Gulf Coast without

money or without raising the awareness that the need for help is far

from over. People are still homeless, 2 YEARS LATER!

You may be asking "what can I do to help?" Each and every one of

you has the opportunity to help spread the word about this

exceptional CD and the meaningful cause and fundraising effort that

    inspired it.

Please help us get the word out this week, and going forward.

    Tell EVERYONE you know!

Send out one of those annoying mass-emails to everyone in your

address book! (well… try not to make it annoying… but you get the

    drift… ha ha)

    Add us as a friend.

Put us in your list of top friends.

Post a bulletin to all of your friends!

Leave a message on our page… talk about your favorite song, etc.

(thanks to those who have already done this... )

Write or call your local TV stations (especially your local ABC

affiliate!). They will surely be doing stories on the 2-year

anniversary. See if they will mention the CD.

    Buy a CD or 5, or 10!

To quote the author, everyone should care "...it could be your

hometown that is abandoned when the crisis is yours..."

Use your imagination and thank YOU!

  8. Ah BSG, you made my day with your observations. Squib might even be too much. She's a flat out Muggle - a la Petunia. (Respectfully, MF, the character, not the actor)

I flove Petunia, and I'll wrestle anyone who says anything bad about her. Okay, so she's a child-abusing social climber with serious self-esteem issues, but she's a misunderstood child-abusing social climber with serious self-esteem issues. And Fiona Shaw is da bomb and da diggity.

Hooked, girl, WHERE did that new story come from? It's absolutely wonderful. Man, man, oh, man that was good! Makes me want to write. I just may do so. Wow. Just beautiful.

LMAO, BSG! Oh, and I freakin' LOVE Running Up That Hill by Kate Bush--I think I even did a LuNacy vid to it!

Tracyluver, happy birthday, kiddo! Hope you have a terrific day!

  9. MinervaFan: You are too funny. I love your pics. I can see Bobbie as Slytherin back in the day. Love that Bobbie. She was a schemer. And such a nice counterpoint to my very favorite EWCBO. Who in my opinion, by the way is a total Hufflepuff in the very worst sense of Hufflepuffdom.:)

Who is EWCBO? And watch those comments about Hufflepuffdom, Wench! I sort Hufflepuff about 90% of the time (with Gryffindor/Ravenclaw tied for second. I have never sorted Slytherin.)

Collette! Massive wonderfulness on your grandfather waking up. I'm so happy for you.

MsQ: http://i16.photobucket.com/albums/b33/Ms_Q...ne/JE-young.jpg I know exactly where this picture is from! It's when Jane starred on Charlie's Angels, of course. She played Angel Muffy, the transplanted New Yorker who wanted to be a country girl, but decided to move to LA when she realized that Wal-Mart is no fun at all, despite the clever commercials. She got along well with Kelly and Chris, but clashed with Sabrina because, well, how many smart Angels can there be at one time? Bosley was her BoySlave, and Charlie sent her autographed 8X10 glossies....

  10. I'm assuming from the decided lack of talk here, that TQ was not on today.

I'm bored, so let's play the GH Sorting Hat Game:

What Hogwart's house would your favorite character be sorted into?

    Tracy: Slytherin

    Alexis: Ravenclaw

    Georgie: Hufflepuff

    Dillon: Gryffindor

    Alice: Gryffindor

    Edward: Slytherin

    Monica: Ravenclaw

    Alan: Gryffindor

    Luke: Slytherin

    Bobbie: Slytherin

    Lila: Hufflepuff

    Any discussion? Laughing at me?

  11. TL and MsQ--fics!!!!! :D I loved yours, TL, but you already knew that. MsQ, read the first two chapters last night and was LOL. STORY SPOILER:

Sports Announcer: Tracy Quartermaine! You've just busted out of Shadybrook! What're you gonna do? Tracy: I'm going to Disney World!

  12. *waves at Hooked* I'm here, I'm here! It was a busy day in ADDITION to having Fey's mom over for dinner, so I'm a little behind. I know I've been really stepping back on the whole TQ thing, and I wanted you guys to know that IT'S NOT YOU and IT'S NOT TRACY! I still love our girl, but wow. There is nothing at all right now to keep me interested in GH. I've gotten to the point of just checking the board, downloading the clips of Tracy, and that's the extent of my GH watching. I know when Tracy gets back into the front (or at least middle), I'll be more involved. Please bear with me in the meantime.

On a related note, did any of you watch OLTL last week? Fey and I taped the whole week Sunday morning on Soapnet and watched it in two viewings. Do you realize I did not hit FF once through the entire week of episodes? (Except for commercials, of course!) Every single scene kept my interest, and there wasn't one single character who I didn't want to watch. Friday's episode was classic--just one of the best all-around soap episodes I've ever seen. How they handled Asa's death was so respectful, so classy, and 10,000 times heads and tails above how GH handled Alan's death. Every single member of that family (and extended family) who was on the show got at least one good scene and guess what? They focused on the deceased's family, NOT the mob or Who My Baby Daddy or whatever. It was amazing. Just amazing. Vicki and Dorian got great scenes, Clint and Bo were amazing, Renee and Nigel broke my heart, and Clint and Vicki's four kids were just wonderful. (I loved them mocking Joey about "Mrs. Robinson.")

GAWD, Frons! Won't you PLEASE overhaul the writing staff at GH like you did at OLTL? Please? Please, please, please?????? I want writing like that on GH. I do, I do, I do. I'll send you a batch of chocolate chip cookies. Home made.

  13. Hola, chickies! Man, I can't leave you guys alone for ONE weekend, and the DRAMA goes through the roof. I'm speaking, of course, of HellaGate 2007 ™. On my list of things to worry about, this is like, 10,348 and falling. It was fun playing along and joking about it, but wow. Is it me, or is this being taken a little too seriously by too many people?

Sorry I missed you guys on Sunday. I got up around 7 am to work on the Dana Ivey site (it's TOTALLY coming along), checked to see if anybody was online, then went back to sleep around 8:30 am. After that, Fey was up, and there was really no online for me. We had a good weekend--went for a spot of tea on Saturday, and had a Disney video fest. The weather cooperated, and I was able to do my errands yesterday without suffocating.

MsQ, the icon/banner set looks FABULOUS, and the birthday list is great--except you forgot two important names: Jane Elliot and Tracy Quartermaine. :D

    MegaSite spoilers say

Tracy is going to own up to the forgery after Jake's paternity becomes known.

Yay. (Note the heavy sarcasm in that "yay.") It's also says something about Luke coming back, but that's hardly soon and hardly a spoiler. Thank goodness for this place, or I would have lost interest in GH altogether by now.....

  14. Guess who wrote a fic this morning? It's short and sweet and introspective and stars--ta-da- ALMOST ghost!Lila.

100 Situations #53: That Human Frailty URL: http://community.livejournal.com/tq_ficathon/91360.html

TL, I'm so not losing sleep over the Character Game on HG. I mean, come on. If they have to go to those lengths to win, just let them. We have the real numbers here at the LoveFest--look how many pages of posts we have here! Tracy outclasses, outshines, outsmarts every character on that show--but she's rarely allowed to "win." Why should the fannish world be any different? I mean, people usually have to be underhanded and conniving to beat her on the show, as well! I know our girl is a winner, so that's good enough for me.

Collette, thanks for the nice words on Shaker Song. Ms. Q, here is the link for the downloadable version: http://www.sendspace.com/file/gwf8wn

EDIT: Remos--Elphaba and Fiyero are characters from the Broadway musical, Wicked. Fiyero was Glenda the Good Witch's "fiance" (she strong-armed him into it) who was really in love with the (not-so) Wicked Witch of the West (Elphaba).

  15. Just back from the Hairspray 5 Year Anniversary Party! It was a good time. Harvey Fierstein didn't show up, but Kathy Brier did. Love that girl, she's so sweet.

It's times like this that I remember how terribly jealous I am of you. I flove Kathy Brier. I listen to her two songs on One Life Many Voices about three times each before heading to the next songs. I am so going to buy her CD sooner or later...she's got a tremendous voice.
