  1. That was the contract and the rumors at the time were that he tried to get out of it and stay at GH. Nobody was happy, and the show used his outlines deep into the fall after he was gone. I still give ABC, Riche, and Labine a lot of credit for finishing the Stone/Robin story even when the ratings were dropping because it was hard to watch and some viewers were turned off by the show doing any story about HIV. The rest of the show did suffer during the last few months of Stone being alive, but they were rebuilding before Guza got there and he did bring the ratings back up. After he stepped down but was still credited as EP at Y&R, Bell gave an interview where he said he thought they could take those first two years of Y&R scripts and update the way the characters speak, but mostly just film them intact with a new cast and have a hit all over again. I remember comments at the time saying he basically already did that with B&B.
  2. I assume her next character didn’t resonate as well. She’s great at Caroline from what I have seen.
  3. That has possibilities (the characters, not the name), but what about Lulu? It’s still a problem and they should be a couple. I just do not get Frank’s vision for the couples on this show at all. I have felt this way for years.
  4. I am not a huge fan of Bold and have watched very little of it over the years. But Caroline was a great character and her relationship with Ridge was so compelling from what I saw. And a few years later it’s all Brooke/Taylor and nobody really mentions her at all anymore. Was she always intended to be written out within a few years?
  5. The rumors at the time were that he was so happy at GH he wanted to stay there but he had a lucrative creator contract and also didn’t want to piss off Spelling. At the time IIRC ABC tried to keep him. It seemed to me that Gary Tomlin’s bright lighting and the look of the show were at odds with what the writers were going for, including the original theme being more sexy and moody. I still think had the show been sexier and filmed/staged more like classic Y&R it would have worked better.
  6. Which is bad enough, let alone if he turns out to be Peter in a new body, who was obsessed with Maxie. You would think they would want to spend time with her!
  7. Wouldn’t this be a spoiler, and what the hell is eldante? What ship name is that supposed to be?
  8. Laura has murdered! Accidental murder is still murder! Sometimes you just have to accept the conceits of the genre. Any fan of DAYS has had to swallow a lot of questions about Roman/John Black to enjoy the show. They made him a priest! Mac was a mercenary, a PI, and owed the Outback when they made him Chief of Police. At least Robert, Anna, and Sean were WSB agents, although two of them worked both sides.
  9. Yes, thanks @Paul Raven Her AMC was a mixed bag, but I thought it was better overall than Burke or JHC. ABC really wanted Wendy Riche to succeed at GH. They clearly stacked her show with talent. Key directors that were from the Monty era stayed. Shelley Curtis came back to the show after being at DAYS a long time. Francesca James, Claire Labine. All those talented women who knew the genre, drama, and Curtis who knew the DNA of what Monty did there in her heyday. And they gave her time to get it right. Had she arrived after 1995 the entire experience would have been different. I loved when Olivia Rodrigo was first blowing up and was on GMA (or the Today show, cannot remember which), wearing the dress Kimberly McCullough had worn at the Emmy’s as a teen when she won, which was a wedding dress Francesca James wore on All My Children. Kimberly has talked about how important James was to her during the Stone storyline. I just found that so cool.
  10. I am kind of bummed, I was hoping for something more like Y&R did for Jeanne and Kristoff.
  11. He was the wrong choice to me back then, and I still think it was wrong. There was a way to soap hunk the recast Lucky without losing that more sensitive part of the character. Instead he became a generic angry pretty boy. But the casting was rough anyway around that time, Wendy Riche should not have been EP at both GH and PC, it clearly burned her out. Everything about that story was a flop. It made sense to me that Felicia would be involved, she had scenes with Faison during his original run. But not while being paired up with Luke as a romantic storyline. What was missing to me was Laura. Faison terrorizing Laura instead of Felicia would have put Stefan and Luke at odds, been more about Lucky being missing, and made Helena angry if he was becoming obsessed with Laura instead of punishing her.
  12. But what you said was the problem. There wasn’t really a story to play because they intended Maxie be there the whole time. So it just stalled out, and instead of Nathan having scenes rebuilding like that was the actual story it just went nowhere.
  13. IIRC what Racina brought to the table was the Carbonic Snow and weather machine. I assume she created the WSB though because as soon as she came back they dug into Robert’s past as an agent. PFS hated Monty when she left, even though she said she was a genius. She must have made a fortune when she came back and decided to play along to get along better.
  14. This would have been so much more successful. Add in Ruby too, knowing the secret. Interesting way to reintroduce Faison to the audience just before he kidnaps Lucky.
  15. I felt one of the few cliche things to happen on GH in the last few years was Emma not being yet another vixen/angry at the world teen to a nice parent. Giving her a cause for why she was acting out and following Dalton to another school was straight out of Anna’s playbook, although quieted down to reality from super spy. Her continuing those traits while helping Tracy during the silly crypt story was great. Because there is more going on there and she is a good actor, she is the first younger woman on the show that I believably see as a lead in ages. Joss hasn’t ever been it, and they won’t let Trina.
  16. I saw some rumors that it is a health issue but not specified. I hope she is okay. That is telling, and quite honestly shameful. Isaiah should be Tommy Jr. I would love for there to be a Doctor Hardy on staff again.
  17. When I was a teenager I thought Jagger on GH was the hottest man I had ever seen on soaps. ASJr has ruined his appeal now for me, but back then he was so fine. I totally get the appeal of Shemar Moore, but for me it was Kristoff. I thought he was beautiful even if Neil could be a little boring as time went on. I can’t stand Nick Newman, even back then, but Morrow was and still is a very pretty man. I never really watched Another World but thanks to soap mags I thought that cast was full of hot guys in the mid 90’s. Joe, Matt Cory, Morgan, Ryan, Tomas, both Nick Hudson’s.
  18. Terry Brock is one of those soap characters that gets a lot of airtime and then once they are gone the impact was negligible. And I liked her fine back then and when I see her. But she just isn’t meant to lead an entire corner of the show.
  19. Thanks for posting this! The other Grant really needed a better hairstyle than that slicked back mess! I loved the music when he was dragging that body around. Very 80’s, but it works for me. Some of the late 70’s, very early 80’s background music from Monty sounds cartoonish to me when I watch episodes now.
  20. Maybe he can team up with Willow, give Portia the same drug as Drew lol!!
  21. Yep! Also the Nathan talk- KS’s return was delayed so they just stalled that story. We could have had months of Nathan doing anything remotely human in a situation like this. Bonding with James, being a co-parent with Spinelli, anything to make it seem believable that this guy is Nathan. But nope.
  22. I am one of those not a fans. But I cannot argue that he’s incredibly attractive and he does have a lovely voice. Truthfully, I blame the show for his ill fitting onscreen character and connections. Designing Women and Twin Peaks in the same GH thread! Wonderful! All this talk about hot Dante reminded me he used to have a swagger that was part of why he was attractive. I miss old school Dante.
  23. I am always here for a Designing Women quote.
  24. He was so attractive, and I didn’t watch Loving, my ABC affiliate didn’t air it. I only saw him in the soap press back then. And Robert Tyler’s Trucker. Chase is attractive but he is so self righteous and frankly stupid that I can’t wait for him to realize how wrong he is.
