Nevertheless, the fact that it remains so close between Joe Biden and Bernie Sanders proves (to me) that Sanders' supposed stronghold over Latino voters isn't all that strong after all. If it were, I think we'd be more sure about the results there.
If Elizabeth Warren were to drop out tomorrow, to whom would her followers shift their support? Would they align themselves with Biden, or with Sanders? On the one hand, it seems like a no-brainer that they would go to another progressive, like Sanders. But, on the other hand, Bernie Bros have been so toxic that I actually see Warren's followers' support shifting toward Biden instead.
Some of the big Bernie backers have been trying to blame/shame Warren for tonight's losses (you will see a reply from Brie Gray, Bernie's press secretary and proud Jill Stein voter - moments like her going on national TV to tell us that asking about Bernie's health = birtherism helped get the result we saw tonight)
It's a copout. Many Warren supporters were never for Bernie - they are not driven by emotion and they don't want to burn everything down. Bernie himself said Warren wasn't like him because Warren is a capitalist. His supporters have spent months attacking her and attacking her supporters, including a man who is battling ALS.
This so-called movement continues to squander itself on purity contests and peacocking. I read tonight that a Bernie and AOC backed challenger to Henry Cuellar, a conservative Texas Democrat in Congress, has likely lost. As so many that they support do. That's because it's never real support - it's lip service. I can't help wondering how many who could have made a real difference in the party in the long-term have been suckered and demoralized by this so-called "revolution," leaving politics and social justice behind.
Anyway, Texas is huge for Biden. I give credit to the voters, but I have to give a lot of credit to Beto, someone whose questionable decision to run for President seemingly killed his career. Clearly he still has a voice and knows how to use it. The vitriol leveled at him from hacks like David Sirota all along was noticeable, as they were terrified of him. Tonight, he gave them a reason to be.

She lived a long life. I'm sorry most of her work is gone as I loved what I saw of it on GL. You also have to credit her for coming into a soap to play the central heroine nearly a decade in and managing to win fans over.

🤣 But seriously...who is this man's fanbase? Loud kids on Twitter?
If I had a vote, I think I'd probably go for Warren, but Joe Biden seems like an honest, decent, good man. Sanders reminds me all the grifter politicians in South Africa that ran in every election when I was a kid who talked a lot but had no means of backing up anything they said.
But besides that, Biden is obviously turning out the vote and has the passion and support from everyone he needs to hopefully take down Trump. I don't get the whining from Sanders supporters. I thought the most important thing was beating Trump but I guess for some of them it's not.
It's a very toxic mix of con artists, anarchists, naive and easily manipulated kids, and trust fund types who have big podcasts and want to look badass. They didn't just want their fool's gold promises about student loans and health care, they wanted to crush their enemies into the dust.
This is what one of the biggest Bernie supporters had to say before Iowa. I have had this in my head ever since because to me it is the face of his movement, and I wanted to savor it if a night like tonight happened:
My response to these people is:

Looks like again if tonight Bidens campaign takes the full turn around, we again have AA voters to thank for it. Or as the Sanders camp refers to AA voters, the elites.
I'm still wary about him but even moreso about Bernie.
I am still seeing people jeer older black voters and going on about how they don't matter because Biden won't get young voters or Latinos. The thing is - where are they now? Weren't they supposed to be Bernie's bedrock? Young voters have consistently failed to show up, even for him. It's a big problem but it's not just Biden's problems. Cultists won't address the reality that being an [!@#$%^&*] on Twitter doesn't mean you get votes among young demos.

I was going around looking for an old tweet I wanted to jeer at tonight while I still can, and I stumbled on this. Ooh it annoys me, especially given some of his past writings. I know Laura Palmer united the White Lodge and Black Lodge and used all her powers on the interdimensional planes to [!@#$%^&*] [!@#$%^&*] up after she saw this.

Massachusetts can't be called and its Warren state.😂

So MA is basically between Joe and Bernie? That's not a good sign for Liz Warren yet I'm not surprised tbh. Unfortunately, Warren took the bait with the DNA results reveal and it seems as though people have been nervous about her prospects against Trump ever since.
I think Warren got boxed in by both sides (liberal and moderate), especially once she mishandled her healthcare plans. It's unfortunate because other than Kamala she's the only candidate I would have genuinely wanted to vote for rather than having no real choice.
She was losing to Bernie in other polls. If she finishes behind both Bernie and Biden I wonder if she will drop out.
Looks like they called North Carolina too soon.

I know I'm looking forward to hearing about how black voters in those states are self-hating and right wing, and that neither state represents America.

Honestly Janet was the prettiest thing in that video for me, but I'll admit this, a few GH scenes, and his guest spot on Melrose (or truncated regular spot - whatever that was) were his high points. Too bad about everything past 1996.
(you notice Kimberlin Brown, who is also a Republican and has run for office in recent years, isn't going around bitching nonstop to get free press...)

Antonio Sabato Jr. should be glad he has a gig in construction. Back in the 90s, he was pretty to look at but talented thespian, he was not. The ugliness of his rhetoric transferred to the outside and his appeal fell by the wayside years ago. He needs to hold onto that construction job, from what I read, it's not as if he's doing hard labor, hauling huge planks of wood, he's in a supervisory role. So, he needs to count his blessings that he can pay his bills and keep it moving.
Not to be shallow, but he always had a flat ass anyway.

@DRW50 I keep forgetting about Bloomberg. I have no idea the impact he will have. Polls have been so wrong I don't trust them and the amount of money he has invested it's just hard to know how things will fall for him. The thing with these endorsements is I do think they would've had a big impact if they were sooner. It's hard to judge how much of an impact they'll have the day before Super Tuesday with so many people voting early. I wonder how the results will be listed considering so many people have dropped out.
The timing is definitely a good factor for Biden - a 1-2-3 push days before voting. There are a lot of votes already cast, of course, but still, it's a good media earner and momentum booster. I suppose Warren did him a huge favor by goring Bloomberg on national television the way she did. If not for that I think Bloomberg may have been the main rival to Bernie, even with SC.
(speaking of SC, I read that Michael Moore was on MSNBC yet again whining about how South Carolina voters are not representative of America - not so subtle coding going on there from someone who was last relevant in 2004, and didn't even deserve to be relevant then).

I had MSNBC on as I was cooking and I was confused when Hardball went right into the opening credits instead of his usual opening quip into the credits. I turned my head and he announced it was his last show and apologized for the allegations against him. It seemed like he was going to finish the show, but they immediately went to commercial and when they came back Steve Kornacki was at a news desk damn near in tears and clearly confused. They had to go to ANOTHER commercial so he could get it together and take over the show. It was a total mess! By the end of the show Kornacki WAS crying and he had to apologize to the guests who were scheduled and on standby and couldn't appear due to all the confusion. Now I agree Chris Matthews was long overdue for an exit, but I was shocked at just how it happened. You could tell the network wasn't prepared for that.
In other news, I was stunned to see Amy drop out today! I enjoyed Amy, Pete and Beto's speeches at Biden's rally. It's overdue and I hope it has an impact. I think Pete has grown throughout the campaign and has a future if he continues to grow and learns from this. Warren did a speech afterwards saying that the people who dropped out were "Washington elites" trying to convince you to vote for Biden. She has been such a disappointment and as this campaign goes on you can't tell what she truly believes. She just seems to want to win and seems very self-centered. She has less votes and delegates than Amy or Pete, yet is trying to stay until the convention for what?! Even if it was a brokered convention she wouldn't have a chance. It would obvious be between Biden and Sanders.
I didn't see Kornacki's remarks at the end but did see the initial clip. He was clearly very upset and even though I had no use for Matthews, I did feel for him. The magic of live TV.
I'm not too sure where Warren's strategy is at this point - she's obviously not just playing spoiler to Bernie as she chose to go after Biden instead. Maybe she's waiting to see what Bernie will offer her?
I don't know if the trio of endorsements will help Biden much (I was genuinely surprised to see Beto among them, and the meltdown on Twitter from those who have irrationally loathed him for ages was great fun [with a bonus Shaun King drag]), but at least it gives him some of the momentum he desperately needed going into Super Tuesday. Now the question is whether Bloomberg's money and ads will be enough to keep him afloat and splitting the vote or if it is fully Bernie vs Biden.
If Bernie didn't have such awful supporters and wasn't running such an arrogant campaign this might be over already. I guess we'll see what happens today.
Anyone in a Super Tuesday state who is voting in current conditions - good luck to you.

I'm pleased the Brain of Morbius is now completely canon.
Sacha Dhawan is gorgeous and I'm glad he has continued Michelle Gomez's work of making me forget that Anthony Ainley or John Simm ever existed.

Well, Flavor Flav has left the group before so there are likely underlying philosophical issues brewing there. This Sanders rally situation was probably the proverbial straw that broke the camel's back.
I too applaud Buttigeig for leaving the race to make way for a clearer path for coalescing around a viable candidate. I follow (and am followed by) quite a few gay men of color and none except for one, was actually checking for Pete. In their tweets many expressed a kind of weariness, if not exasperation that Pete did not speak to their issues or issues such as the mortal peril that transgendered and transwomen, of color especially were facing as well as protection of their civil liberties. I will say that even though I mostly avoid subtweets and comments, which are often vitriolic and nasty, I did see some homophobic comments that I blocked as I don't want that venom anywhere near my social media. I reflexively learned to do this when I came across the disgusting comments I'd see about Kamala Harris as well (some of which I had to report because they were threatening as well as disgusting).
I think the criticism of Buttigieg not representing most lgbt people (and beyond lip service not even trying to represent anyone who was not just like him) was valid. It's unfortunate that those concerns were overshadowed by those who hate themselves and have to hate everyone else in order to get validation. Ben Mora, Bernie's ex-field director, was back on Twitter and talking about how conservative men who are caught in hotels with rent boys are better gay representation. (he was then suspended again and went on about how they'd taken so much from him...too lacking in self-awareness to know that perpetually trying and failing to audition for a Topeka adaptation of Boys in the Band is why he is where he is, not Twitter). Many of these same types of Twitterati also hated Harris and went out of their way to attack her in the ugliest terms. They do nothing but drag down everyone around them, and I have a feeling they're one of the main reasons their dear leader has underperformed this entire primary.

Those are such powerful images I almost don't even want to tarnish them my talking about the general election talk...
I too thought Buttigieg would drop out after Super Tuesday, but he was going nowhere and he's never been going anywhere. He should have dropped out last year. I hope that he at least dropped out in time to help Biden a little more in the Super Tuesday states.
While I don't think most of the reasons people opposed him were down to homophobia, the amount of homophobic commentary I saw about him reinforced my longtime views that much of the Democratic Party is very happy to go along with anti-gay talk and views, especially if it's someone who is seen as "the wrong kind of gay." And many gay members of the party are happy to as well. They don't ever understand that the people who hate gays hate ALL OF US, not just the "wrong kind." They will see that when the people they are empowering come for them.

I know Super Tuesday will take us back to the norm but boy am I enjoying the meltdowns from the cultists tonight - especially the idiots who are getting upset because the win was called at 0% (with no mention of Bernie's Nevada win getting an early call). Cynthia Nixon was even angry over that - poor poor Bernie. Just sad.
8 minutes ago, DramatistDreamer said:I suspect that the Bernie Bros are losing their sh*t over this one, lol. They were already bringing out the "low-information voter" trope that Bernie trotted out during the 2016 primaries. 'Low information' being dog-whistle code for 'blacks in the South'.
I haven't checked the results so I have no idea how the candidates placed other than Biden placing first.
I'm also hearing a lot of "black voters in South Carolina are old and conservative and don't speak for us."

I saw that. And he's still going. Yesterday he was claiming that people told him how upset former Beto staffers were and that people told him Obama was meddling. No idea of who these people were, but of course many lapped it up.
I don't think Bernie is as bad as his supporters, but my goodness he has the absolute worst supporters outside of Cult 45. I just hope if Biden is the nominee he won't need these lunatics, because he isn't getting them. I saw them all over Twitter tonight talking about how young people will start killing because of Bernie not getting the nomination. And they were proud of this idea.
That was a very nice tribute to Warren. I had my ups and downs but I do wish she could have been the nominee. Other than Kamala she was the only one I ever really thought had the right spirit and could accomplish what we need to move forward.
In other news, other than one of Jeb's Trump-loving sons in Texas, the Bush dynasty continues to choke out.
