  2. Did the Brittany/Peter pairing ever make any sense? Lewin seemed to have some screen presence but casting her in a major role was an odd choice. Then again, Vicky was more of a supporting role at this point, right? I wonder how she would have been as Marley. AW had a lot of character and the most three-dimensional, "real," characters I've ever seen on a soap. Rachel, Cass, Felicia, these seemed like real people - good, bad, ugly. I think that's one of the reasons it hung on for so long, and why it still has something of a presence today.
  3. Romney just seems to love to remind people how much money he has. He's thrilled with someone having to mortgage their home to run against him. http://www.buzzfeed.com/buzzfeedpolitics/romney-politics-for-the-rich
  4. In the 1980 episode VickRobCal posted, Carla talks about them briefly, or is asked about them, and there's the implication that there could become more than friendship. Too bad it never happened.
  5. I'm watching the 12/19/86 episode and I can't believe all the beautiful music they used for the Cliff/Nina scenes, stuff I rarely hear on soaps, ever! Barefoot in the Park, An Unmarried Woman (one of the most underrated movie themes ever). The scenes where they're goofing around in the park are so much fun. It's nice to see a side of this couple - or any soap couple - which isn't all angst and regret and mistakes. This is the second Christmas where Joe and Ruth talk about what failures their sons are. Who said they were a happy family? They seemed to make the outfits for Myra, Natalie, and Julie out of the same material. Natalie and Myra are backup for Julie's Solid Gold dancer. What was Adam blackmailing Natalie over?

  8. People who read spoilers would have known. I'm not sure if viewers at home would have known, although the character did gain some weight and became more tired, etc. Sonia was about 16 or 17, and her family had split apart, she was upset because her boyfriend had left, etc. She and Martin Fowler had sex (her first time I think). They wanted nothing to do with each other after that and she eventually began dating Jamie Mitchell, the show's young heartthrob in those years. She suddenly went into labor and Mo Slater, the matriarch of the Slater family who had just moved into Walford, delivered her baby. This led to a long story where she gave the baby up for adoption and years later decided to take her daughter back.

  10. I'd like to see them too, mostly because I enjoy watching Jacquie Courtney...it seems like they found a better place for her for a while with Bo. I wonder if she felt insulted when they moved him on to Delilah.
  11. Is it me or do most of Pat's stories from around the time the Tony/Pat/Paul stuff ended sound like huge pieces of [!@#$%^&*]? Paul injured and not wanting her to know he's still alive, the Adam stuff which seemed to go nowhere, the evil twin or cousin or whatever, a stalker. Kind of odd that they were pushing her as one of their main heroines in these years and they were so clueless about what to do with her.
  12. Thanks so much. I just dug up another 1979 synopsis. I really did try to post them in order... July 24, 1979 Digest
  13. I thought this one was from late 1980 but actually it's from January 29, 1980. So just put this back towards the start of 1980.
  14. I wonder if it's like the old spy stories where a bug is in a brooch or whatever. I'd never heard of this type of contest - I mostly just remember 500 people crapping their pants so one can get a Buick.
  15. They had such incredible characters back then. In a way it's almost a challenge because how can you write a story for these people? I think that era had such fascinating and complex people. I can kind of see why it seemed like "normal" characters like Viki, or Pat, may have blended into the background.
  16. Huntsman's mistake was running at all. He never had a chance. He is not a flame-thrower, he has little record or organization, and he worked for Obama. I truly have no idea why he believed he would have a chance. As for Paul, I don't think he takes voters from Huntsman. Paul is just a bit crazy, in his own way, and he says a lot of things many people feel but are often not said out loud by either party, especially regarding Israel.
  17. Thank you for reading and commenting. I hoped you'd still been able to see them. December 9, 1980 Digest.
  18. 5/21/85 Digest Tony Rizzo Did he get a role? Looks like he was cast as a stage manager, at some point in 1986. http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0645932/#Actor He's a casting director now. I wonder if he was ever interviewed about staying in the glass - that must have been quite an experience.

  23. Sorry about that Thank you for still reading these. I have had an awful time piecing these 1980 issues together, the ones I have - I guess it's easier when they just had monthly issues. I posted the Edwina one three separate times. That's the most publicity poor Margaret Klenck has had since the NYT falsely claimed she'd died.
