  1. Rodney Van Johnson, The Bold and the Beautiful, B&B, Bold & Beautiful, Bold and Beautiful, #BoldandBeautiful

Fans of “Passions” alum Rodney Van Johnson are in luck! The actor is returning to daytime this week, joining “The Bold and the Beautiful” as Sheila’s Attorney who will be representing her as she appears before Judge Craig McMullen (Joe Lando).

“I was offered to come and play in their sandbox, which is just amazing,” said Van Johnson in the latest issue of Soap Opera Digest, on newsstands now.

Van Johnson makes his debut on the daytime soap beginning Monday, January 9. He’s also set to appear in the Tuesday, January 10 and Wednesday, January 11 episodes.

While daytime fans best know him for his portrayal as T.C. Russell on “Passions,” Van Johnson actually made his daytime debut on “The Young and the Restless” in 1998, playing Trey Stark over several episodes. He later went on to appear in episodes of “Port Charles” as Sebastian duPres before becoming a contract player on NBC’s cult classic drama series.

Additional credits for the actor include appearances in “Girlfriends” and “Without a Trace,” among others. He was more recently in the BET+ original movie, “Holiday Hideaway.” The movie also starred Vivica A. Fox (“The Young and the Restless”).

For more on Van Johnson’s turn on “The Bold and the Beautiful,” check out the next issue of Digest on newsstands Friday, January 13.

  2. Joe Lando, Judge Craig McMullen, The Bold and the Beautiful, B&B, Bold & Beautiful, Bold and Beautiful, #BoldandBeautiful

Best known for his portrayal as Byron Sully on “Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman,” or to daytime viewers for his stint as Jake Harrison on “One Life to Live,” actor Joe Lando is returning to CBS’ “The Bold and the Beautiful” this week as Judge Craig McMullen. He first appeared on the soap in 2018.

Appearing in the Monday, January 9; Tuesday, January 10; and Wednesday, January, 11 episodes, Judge McMullen will be on hand to decide Sheila’s (Kimberlin Brown) fate as she stands accused of shooting her biological son, Finn (Tanner Novlan), and his wife, Steffy (Jacqueline MacInnes Wood), among other crimes.

Speaking to Soap Opera Digest in the magazine’s latest issue, on newsstands now, Jacqueline MacInnes Wood teases, “Well, I can’t give away what is decided in the judge’s chambers, but I can say that Steffy is very conflicted about whether to testify or not to testify.” She adds, “Ultimately, Steffy believes that even if she doesn’t testify against Sheila, the judge will see what a horrible human she is, and how horrific her crimes were, and put her behind bars, regardless.”

That being said, as Bill (Don Diamont) throws his support behind Sheila will Judge McMullen be persuaded to set the villainous free or will Sheila finally pay for what she’s done? Considering this is Sheila, we’ll assume the former.

  6. Prince Harry, 60 Minutes, #60Minutes

In advance of his full “60 Minutes” interview, airing tonight, January 8 at 7:30 p.m. ET on CBS, immediately following the network’s NFL coverage, the veteran news program has released clips of Anderson Cooper’s conversation with Prince Harry. In them, Harry talks about how he was “incredibly naïve” about how the British press would treat his relationship with his now-wife Meghan Markle. Harry also noted the relationship has given him a new awareness.

“What Meghan had to go through was similar in some part to what [Princess] Kate and what [Queen Consort] Camilla went through – very different circumstances,” Harry tells Cooper in one clip. “But then you add in the race element, which was what the press, British press jumped on straight away. I went into this incredibly naïve. I had no idea the British press were so bigoted. Hell, I was probably bigoted before the relationship with Meghan.”

In a follow-up, Cooper asked Harry, “You think you were bigoted before the relationship with Meghan?” In his answer, Harry says, “I don’t know.” He further notes, “Put it this way, I didn’t see what I now see.”

Harry’s sitdown with Cooper is his first on American television where he talks about the contents of his new memoir, “Spare,” which is set for release on Tuesday, January 10.

In talking about why he and Meghan’s move away from the royal family became so public, Harry says, “Every single time I’ve tried to do it privately there have been briefings and leakings and planting of stories against me and my wife.” He then pointed out, “You know, the family motto is never complain, never explain, but it’s just a motto.”

On that note, Cooper comments, “There’s a lot of complaining and a lot of explaining … being done through leaks.”

In his answer, Harry says, “They will feed or have a conversation with the correspondent.” He adds, “And that correspondent will literally be spoon-fed information and write the story. And at the bottom of it they will say that they’ve reached out to Buckingham Palace for comment. But the whole story is Buckingham Palace commenting. So, when we’re being told for the last six years, ‘We can’t put a statement out to protect you’… But you do it for other members of the family. It becomes – there becomes a point when silence is betrayal.”

Prince Harry’s interview with Anderson Cooper on “60 Minutes” airs tonight at 7:30 p.m. ET on CBS and will also be available to stream on Paramount+.

  7. Nancy Lee Grahn, Alexis Davis, General Hospital, GH, GH ABC, #GH, #GeneralHospital

Nancy Lee Grahn (“General Hospital”) has been tested positive for COVID-19, the actress announced in an Instagram post on Friday, January 6.

While sharing a picture of herself lying up in bed, Grahn captioned her post, saying, “Why anyone would willingly and cavalierly put themselves into a position to catch or spread Covid is so unquestionably stupid regarding their own health and thoughtless regarding others. 96% of planes have passengers with Covid.

“Very few ppl are masked anywhere now. Americans have made it clear they don’t want to be inconvenienced by them. Ok, but unfortunately it’s not over yet. Thankfully science has found ways to mitigate a lot of dangers but still to not do ur part in preventing the spread of it is callous. No one knows how Covid is going to land on you. In any case, it ain’t fun and you don’t want it. At the very least keep ur masks on in public places. BTW, I’ll be fine… just thought a visual of what Covid looks like in a relatively good scenario would be motivating ( scare you) into putting ur masks back on.”

The actress received numerous supportive comments, including Christian Le Blanc (“The Young and the Restless”) who responded to the news with heart emojis.

“General Hospital” co-star Tabyana Ali (Trina) said, “Feel better soon.”

Former “Santa Barbara” co-star A Martinez commented, “So sorry, sister. Been there, and just gotta say, your voice throughout the seige has been a great inspiration to those of us — like my family — who refuse to roll over to vigilance fatigue. We don’t know what’s down the road. But letting this thing hang around, cuz it’s easier than resisting it, seems insane. Much love to you, homegirl. May you get well soon.”

Rebecca Budig (“All My Children” et al.) stated, “Feel better Nancy. It’s intense out there!”

With the show still on holiday break, it’s unlikely producers will have to temporarily recast the role of Alexis like they were forced to do in March of last year when actress Stephanie Erb stepped in for Grahn over several episodes after she took time off for back surgery. Grahn returned to work in late April and was back on air in May.

    Check out Grahn’s message below.

  8. Lisa Rinna, The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, Real Housewives, #RHOBH, #RealHousewivesofBeverlyHills

Lisa Rinna (“Days of our Lives,” “Melrose Place”) is concluding her eight-season run on “The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills,” PEOPLE magazine is reporting. She first joined the reality series in 2014 during the show’s fifth season.

In a statement released to PEOPLE, Rinna says, “This is the longest job I have held in my 35-year career and I am grateful to everyone at Bravo and all those involved in the series.” She added, “It has been a fun eight-year run and I am excited for what is to come!”

A representative for Rinna notes that after her contract expired at the end of the show’s 12th season, she began “weighing her options and business obligations,” and both Rinna and the NBCUniversal-owned network “mutually decided that she would not return” when the show starts shooting season 13 in the coming weeks.

Reportedly, during the most recent BravoCon event, Rinna was greeted with boos from audience members and she flipped them off in response. These acts allegedly stem from an on-air/off-air dispute with co-star Kathy Hilton during filming.

Before turning to reality TV, Rinna was best known for playing Billie Reed on “Days of our Lives” and Taylor McBride on “Melrose Place.” She competed on “Dancing with the Stars” during the show’s 24th season and co-hosted SOAPnet’s “SoapTalk,” alongside Ty Treadway (“One Life to Live”). Rinna appeared as a presenter at “The 48th Annual People’s Choice Awards”  alongside her “Real Housewives” co-stars on December 6, 2022.

  9. Fire Country, #FireCountry

“Fire Country” will be back for a second season, CBS announced today.

Averaging eight million viewers per episode since its October 7, 2022 premiere, “Fire Country” is the top new broadcast series of the season among Total Viewers. With the inclusion of Live+35 multiplatform viewing, the show’s average goes up to more than 10 million viewers an episode across Linear + Streaming platforms (CBS, linear playback, VOD, Paramount+ and the CBS app).

“It’s pretty remarkable to see a new series resonate like this with both broadcast and streaming audiences right out of the gate,” said Amy Reisenbach, president of CBS Entertainment. “‘Fire Country’ has so many appealing entry points for the audience. It combines high-stakes action with small town charm, mystery and romance, and a family franchise at its core. We’re blessed to have an incredible team in front of and behind the camera led by amazing producers and writers and an exceptionally talented cast.”

“Fire Country” stars Max Thieriot (“Seal Team”) as Bode Donovan, a young convict seeking redemption and a shortened prison sentence by joining a prison release firefighting program in Northern California, where he and other inmates are partnered with elite firefighters to extinguish massive, unpredictable wildfires across the region. It’s a high-risk, high-reward assignment, and the heat is turned up when Bode is assigned to the program in his rural hometown, where he was once a golden all-American son – until his troubles began. Five years ago, Bode burned down everything in his life, leaving town with a big secret. Now he’s back, with the rap sheet of a criminal and the audacity to believe in a chance for redemption with Cal Fire.

The series also stars Billy Burke, Kevin Alejandro, Diane Farr, Stephanie Arcila, Jordan Calloway and Jules Latimer. Tony Phelan, Joan Rater, Tia Napolitano, Max Thieriot, Jerry Bruckheimer and KristieAnne Reed are executive producers. The series is produced by CBS Studios.

Brand new episodes of “Fire Country” returns to CBS beginning tonight, Friday, January 6 at 9:00 p.m. ET/PT. The network will air an additional episode on a special day and time immediately following the AFC Championship Game on Sunday, January 29 (tentatively set to begin at 10:00-11:00 PM, ET; 9:00-10:00 PM, CT; 8:00-9:00 PM, MT; 7:00-8:00 PM, PT). Viewers will also be able to stream live and On Demand on Paramount+.

  20. Marcus Coloma, Nikolas Cassadine, General Hospital, GH, GH ABC, #GH, #GeneralHospital

When news first broke in early December that Marcus Coloma would be exiting the role of Nikolas Cassadine on “General Hospital,” it was reported the actor had been let go from the series and refused to tape his final scenes. Now, via a spokesperson, Coloma is setting the record straight, stating, “due to health issues with his recent Covid exposure, the network graciously agreed that he should not film the remaining few days of the year.” The statement was released to Deadline and further notes that the timing of Coloma’s upcoming departure from the soap happened to coincide with the actor concluding the requirements of his three-year contract with the soap opera.

“I was immediately taken with the family feel of the ensemble cast,” Coloma says in a statement reflecting on his time on the series. “I fell in love with the extremely passionate fanbase. This is great and I even suggested the same thing a while back.

A Spanish soap opera is currently doing this except the guy mourning is gay and has just lost his boyfriend. His best friend from childhood has been there for him. He had a girlfriend who did him wrong but got pregnant. He is now a single dad and has developed feelings for his childhood friend who he's considered a brother. He hasn't revealed his feelings to him but a new guy has appeared showing interested in the gay friend.

The two childhood friends have kissed but the gay guy was so drunk he doesn't remember it. He also kissed him on his death bed when he thought he was losing him due to attempted suicide.

    😂😂😂

What soap is this? Sounds interesting. Is it on YouTube or somewhere online?

But... it was already confirmed Coloma had COVID, by himself, in November... unless he got it another time after?

I doubt Disney-ABC would accept a falsified proof of vaccination. If it were that easy, two other former cast members would have stayed.

He said in that post he got Covid in October. He returned on-screen a week after that article was published. His final scenes would have been taped this month. Per the statement, he had “health issues with his recent Covid exposure,” so it sounds like there were contined issues from when he last got it, which IMO, coincides with the SOD matter.
