LATEST RATINGS: June 16-20, 2025
Collectively agreed it had to be due to the Juneteenth holiday. No other reason makes sense since nothing outstanding was expected to happen on the day. Plus, Friday was its second-best day of the week, so maybe whoever didn't usually tune in liked what they saw?

BTG: Encore Discussion Thread
Waiting to hear more on the "why" of it all, hence why I said y'all would learn the news tomorrow. That said, I doubt I'll hear anything back as I've been questioning the PR strategy for a while now.

BTG: Encore Discussion Thread
Y'all are doing what I usually do. Overthinking. I'll just go ahead and say it. The show will be airing a week of repeats next week, so tomorrow will be your last original episode for June to discuss.

IMO. Not smart. No. Nothing salacious, just a bad decision, IMO.

DAYS: Y&R actor joins as recast
It's unlikely they give a crap about the character. Unless the character is on contract, I don't see why they even need to find money in the budget to pay a day player for a character they haven't given any real attention to, regardless of who the head writer or executive producer is in charge.

LATEST RATINGS: June 2-6, 2025
Hopefully it continues as soaps could go the way of late night with no original episodes on Fridays if that day can't sustain good ratings. Nice change of pace for all four shows. Proof cliffhanger Friday is still a viable option.

GH: HUGE CASTING NEWS!
Considering the head writer who wrote for them on General Hospital, I agree. Outside of killing Starr's little family, which could have happened on One Life to Live at some point had the show continued, they really didn't do too much damage to the characters in the general sense, IMO.

GH: HUGE CASTING NEWS!
While a connection to Monica would be an interesting choice, considering the show has yet to acknowledge the death of the character or her real-life portrayer, the late Leslie Charleson, I would think the show is bringing Slezak back as Viki, considering Lulu works for The Banner. It would be stupid to mention that detail only to have a look-alike of the person who runs/ran the fictional newspaper/website appear in Port Charles.

Can't post embedded tweets
@dragonflies @janea4old, Since Sunday, June 8, I've been trying to combat a bot attack that had been impacting the soapoperanetwork.com domain and resulted in a major spike in traffic that originated from China, Singapore, Vietnam and Hong Kong. I checked every setting available to me through Cloudflare, a third-party internet infrastructure and website security company we've used to protect the domain since at least 2011. As a result, some of the settings overextended and blocked the use of scripts by visitors, including myself, such as those used by social media sites like X (formerly Twitter). Following your post, I removed those settings. Additionally, earlier this morning, I was also able to successfully reduce/eliminate traffic from the aforementioned countries by other means. Let me know if you are having any further issues.

GH: June 2025 Spoilers
Saw a screengrab of Mathison's alleged response to the post on Instagram. If true, not sure why he even bothered to respond, regardless of the outcome of the storyline. Not very smart. As for Bradford Anderson, he's a recurring actor. You don't "fire" recurring actors. If he's unavailable or they need someone to play while he's unavailable for whatever reason, that doesn't mean he was "fired." People who get fired are contract actors like Evan Hofer, Kelly Monaco, Michael Easton or Roger Howarth, though, in each of those cases, their characters weren't replaced with another actor. ---- To be clear, when I say "fired," I mean "let go." Generally, the same thing, but one of those carries a rougher meaning when it comes to disruption in employment.

B&B: From Television City to Sunset Las Palmas Studios
Well, a good number of sets were up when I was there, but there was a limited number of people around. Even Y&R seemed dead, but maybe everyone was out for lunch at the time? I remember driving from the parking lot and preparing to enter the roadway when I saw Michelle Stafford and Christian LeBlanc returning from what I think was their lunch break. Not sure where they went or were coming from.

B&B: From Television City to Sunset Las Palmas Studios
The TVC Studio 31 that they used for 38 years was only about 13,730 sq ft., according to the TVC website specs: https://televisioncityla.com/stages-offices/ Sunset Las Palmas Studios has 11 sound stages, which go up to 20,000 sq ft., though we're yet to learn which of those sound stages will house B&B. Depending on which one, the specs for it can be found here: https://www.sunsetstudios.com/los-angeles/las-palmas-studios/ Sound Stages 4, 5 and 9 are available for use starting September 1, 2025. It's unclear if either of those stages would be used by B&B since they begin production there starting Tuesday, August 19, 2025, which would be before the date shown on the website, but we shall see. Of those three sound stages, only Sound Stage 4 and 5 make sense since they are larger than the specs the show had at TVC, while 9 is quite smaller. Sound Stage 4 would be the best option overall for B&B since it has 18,819 sq ft., the largest individual sound stage at the lot - Stage 3 and Stage 8 share space, which combined makes the space 19,900 sq ft. --- Forgot to add, unless there was an issue with storing the sets, the changes at TVC should have had no issue with production on the show, resulting in fewer set use as there has been no movement in terms of construction that would impact either show (B&B/Y&R). Of the 2-3 times I've been at the studio, the most recent for Don Diamont's 40 years at CBS, it was the most dead I had ever seen the space, but that could be due to vacations, holidays, or the preparation of the B&B move.

ARTICLE: ‘General Hospital’ Star Jonathan Jackson Sets The Record Straight About His Departure From Daytime Drama Series
Putting to rest a slew of rumors and speculation that sprouted after last week’s news of his upcoming departure from “General Hospital,” actor Jonathan Jackson (Lucky Spencer) said in a recent interview that his decision to leave the daytime drama series stems from too much travel between his home in Tennessee and the show’s Los Angeles studio. Released on Monday, Jackson said in an interview with TV Insider that the plan was always for the Daytime Emmy Award winner to continue playing his popular character long-term, and he had never intended to leave the series just nine months after returning on-screen. “It was more of a real, sincere attempt from myself and from ‘General Hospital’ to make it work for a longer period of time. The hope was to be able to stay on longer,” said Jackson to the outlet. “There was always that possibility because it was a bit of an experiment on my part to see if I could make it work with the family dynamic. There were moments where I thought, ‘I think I can find this balance with the family and time back and forth,’ and then you just have to pray about it and try to do what you feel is right. We gave it our best shot, but we weren’t able to keep it going.” A father of three and married to former “General Hospital” cast member Lisa Vultaggio (ex-Hannah Scott) in real-life, Jackson is set to depart the soap opera later this week following a decision that was made fairly recently behind the scenes. “I was trying to stay in the moment as much as possible,” Jackson notes of how his departure came to be. “That’s really where my mindset was, taking it one day at a time, but also one month at a time, and just seeing how it was feeling. I have to say that none of this would have happened at all if Frank [Valentini, executive producer] wasn’t so open and helpful to even get it this far. So that’s definitely something I’ve been extremely blessed by.” “We were so glad Jonathan was able to reprise the role of Lucky, even if was for a limited time,” said Valentini in a statement following news of Jackson’s exit from the soap opera. “We wish him nothing but the best, and the door is always open for Jonathan to return.” Jonathan Jackson, Maurice Benard Christine Bartolucci/Disney Although his return to the show was brief, Jackson shared that he enjoyed reuniting with some of his castmates, including Genie Francis (Laura Collins), Maurice Benard (Sonny Corinthos) and Rebecca Herbst (Elizabeth Webber), as well as Kate Mansi (Kristina Corinthos-Davis), who joined the show in 2023. Jonathan Jackson, Rebecca Herbst Bahareh Ritter/Disney “When I was here in 2009 to 2011, it was more of the implosion of Lucky and Elizabeth, and it was just kind of full-on tragedy,” recalled Jackson. “This time, there was a lot of goodness and a lot of sweetness amidst the drama, and it was fun to be a part of that. And the response from the fans was really precious as well.” Although this is the end of the road for Jackson in the role of Lucky Spencer, for now, the beloved actor is looking forward to what’s next, including an upcoming tour, the release of a solo album and a book of poetry and an anthology of poems, set for release later this year. The book is called “Anthology of Longing” and is the second installment in a concept by Jackson that began with the 2014 release of “The Mystery of Art.” Outside of his other achievements, next year Jackson will also reunite with some of his former “Nashville” cast members for a tour set to take place in Europe, which includes performances in the United Kingdom. ARTICLE: ‘General Hospital’ Tops Hulu’s Top 15 Today Rankings Chart
Marking what appears to be the first time it has reached the milestone on the streaming service, during the week of June 2-6, 2025 ABC’s “General Hospital” ranked No. 1 on Hulu for three out of five days, topping the likes of “Nine Perfect Strangers” (Hulu), “The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives” (Hulu), “The Handmaid’s Tale” (Hulu), “Adults” (FX), “Family Guy” (FOX) and “Bob’s Burgers” (FOX), among others. Starting the month as the ninth most watched series on the service on Sunday, June 1, “General Hospital” ranked 12th on Monday, June 2. By Tuesday, June 3, the show suddenly surged to the number one spot, topping “ABC 20/20” (ABC), which ranked second, and “The Handmaid’s Tale,” which ranked third. The trend continued on Wednesday, June 4, with the soap ranking No. 1. On Thursday, June 5, it had fallen to second place as it was displaced by “Nine Perfect Strangers,” which ranked fifth the previous day. However, by Friday, June 6, “General Hospital” took back the top spot, again ranking No. 1, this time ahead of “Gordon Ramsay’s Secret Service” (FOX) and “MasterChef” (FOX), each of which placed second and third, respectively. “General Hospital” kept its position at the top on Saturday, June 7, topping “Gordon Ramsay’s Secret Service” in second and “Family Guy” in third. Hulu While the accomplishment can’t be ignored, it should be noted that widely watched primetime fare like “9-1-1,” “Grey’s Anatomy,” “Abbott Elementary,” “Will Trent” and “The Rookie” are currently on hiatus, having completed their most recent seasons.. That said, only the rolling 10 episodes of “General Hospital” remain available on the service daily, while several of the previously mentioned series have either several hundred or several dozen episodes available as part of their TV library. General Hospital On Hulu Ranking DateHulu RankSunday, June 1, 2025#9Monday, June 2, 2025#12Tuesday, June 3, 2025#1Wednesday, June 4, 2025#1Thursday, June 5, 2025#2Friday, June 6, 2025#1Saturday, June 7, 2025#1Source: Hulu Launched September 14, 2023, the Hulu Top 15 Today list is a collection of trending movies and TV series on the service, which is built off a formula that takes several factors into account, including viewership and the launching of new content, a press release noted at the time. Overall, its purpose is to help show what is trending on the service at a particular moment in time, with Hulu’s entire On Demand catalog eligible for inclusion, regardless of when the title premiered on the platform. The list is updated daily between 11:00 a.m. and 12:00 p.m. PT. According to Hulu, the Top 15 equation is made up of total views at the episode level within a 24-hour period and considers the growing popularity of new shows/movies released during that time frame. Meanwhile, although multiple episodes of a series help a show get into the top rankings, only the highest episode will count towards the ultimate ranking position of the series. “That way, a series won’t be featured more than once in the Top 15,” the service points out. The Hulu Top 15 Today list is separate from the service’s performance reports for select titles, which are based on views (total stream time divided by runtime available). Note: Unlike the regularly published Live+Same Day ratings reported here on Soap Opera Network, the Hulu rankings are provided directly by the service but without viewing figures, such as total minutes watched. Live+Same Day ratings are provided by Nielsen, an independent tracking service. ARTICLE: Veteran Soap Opera Producer & Lifetime Achievement Award Recipient Edward J. Scott Retires After Nearly 50 Years
Yeah, so Ed retired because he is LITERALLY 80 years old. But okay then, Reddit. He started at Y&R and wanted to retire while at Y&R. They gave him a specialty title to do so. There is nothing more to it. Sometimes that is the case, and that is the case here. As for JFP, again, as I said previously, she's not there with any authority. A line producer would have authority.

ARTICLE: ‘The Bold And The Beautiful’ Departing Television City, Sets Move To Sunset Las Palmas Studios
With their lease up, “The Bold and the Beautiful” is moving out of Television City and heading to the Sunset Las Palmas Studios, just a few miles northeast, keeping production in Los Angeles. Production on the half-hour series will resume on Tuesday, August 19, after its summer hiatus. Produced at the facility since its premiere in 1987, the soap opera is the second CBS daytime program to relocate following “The Price is Right,” which set up shop at the brand-new, state-of-the-art Haven Studios in Glendale in 2023. According to Deadline, which first reported the news, “The Bold and the Beautiful” was one of several other shows, including “The Young and the Restless,” whose leases are coming up and needed new digs as its long-time home, Television City, prepares to undergo major renovations in the near future. In March 2021, Hackman Capital Partners, which purchased the property from CBS in 2018 (finalized in 2019) for $750 million, announced plans to build additional studio space and renovate areas all around the 25-acre property, costing roughly $1.25 billion, in the hopes of feeding “the enormous appetite of streaming services and visual effects whizzes.” Part of the plans include increasing the number of soundstages to 15 from the currently available eight. “It’s been an extraordinary 38 years at Television City, where we have produced over 9,600 episodes of ‘The Bold and the Beautiful,’” said head writer and executive producer Bradley P. Bell in a statement. “As we look ahead, we’re excited to begin this next chapter at Sunset Las Palmas Studios — continuing our production in the heart of Hollywood and the great state of California.” Bradley P. Bell Cliff Lipson/CBS “We are honored to welcome ‘The Bold and the Beautiful’ to Sunset Las Palmas, where we will deliver world-class service to ensure the entire cast and crew have an exceptional experience,” said Sean Griffin, SVP of Sales for Sunset Studios and Quixote. “Their long-term recommitment to Hollywood at this pivotal moment is an important symbol for the industry, and we hope others will follow their lead.” Owned by Hudson Pacific Properties, Sunset Las Palmas is part of the Sunset Studios complex. Currently in its 38th season, “The Bold and the Beautiful” remains the world’s most-watched daily series, seen by millions of viewers in over 100 countries. In April, CBS renewed the series for an additional three seasons, keeping it on the network through the 2027-2028 television season, which is on par with sister soap “The Young and the Restless.” Produced by Bell-Phillip Television Productions, the series continues featuring original cast members Katherine Kelly Lang (Brooke Logan) and John McCook (Eric Forrester) in major storylines. Bradley Bell has also been with the series since its first episode. The senior producer title for Scott was specifically created for him. Jill Farren Phelps is back at the show in a non-producing capacity.
