“Days of our Lives” star Jackée Harry (Paulina Price-Carver) will appear as a guest star on the Netflix comedy “A Man on the Inside,” starring Ted Danson (“Cheers”), when it returns for Season 2 later this year on the streaming service. While details on the character she’ll be playing are being kept under wraps, Deadline, which first reported the news, says that Harry could return for more episodes should the show be renewed for a third season. Based on the documentary “The Mole Agent,” which received an Oscar nomination in 2021 for Best Documentary Feature, the series follows retiree Charles (Danson), who gets a new lease on life when he answers an ad from a PI and becomes a mole in a secret investigation. Per Deadline, Season 2 of the show will follow an anthology format with Charles tackling a new case each season. In Season 2, he’ll go undercover at a college as a guest lecturer, something first teased in the Season 1 finale. Besides Harry, the upcoming season’s cast also include such names as Constance Marie (“With Love”), David Strathairn (“The Bourne Legacy”), Gary Cole (“NCIS”), Jason Mantzoukas (“Taskmaster”), Jill Talley (“Mr. Show”), Linda Park (“Bosch”), Lisa Gilroy (“Interior Chinatown”), Madison Hu (“The Brothers Sun”), Max Greenfield (“The Neighborhood”), Michaela Conlin (“Bones”) and Sam Huntington (“Superman Returns”). Danson’s real-life wife, Mary Steenburgen, is also joining the cast in a lead role, playing Mona Margadoff, a former musician who factors heavily in the case Charles is trying to solve. Eddie Peck concluded his run as Cole Howard on “The Young and the Restless” after his character failed to respond to treatment for Legionnaires’ disease and passed away on the Thursday, July 3 episode. Surrounded by his loved ones, including daughter Claire (Hayley Erin) and long-time love Victoria (Amelia Heinle), Cole said his goodbyes and shared one final kiss with Victoria, with whom he had a romantic connection since the early 1990s. Legionnaires’ disease is a type of serious pneumonia caused by a type of bacteria called Legionella, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). Hayley Erin, J. Thankfully, the show recovered, but the decision to pull originals had already been made and they wouldn't have known that just yet since overnight ratings for daytime always appear lower until finals are released - the ratings Toups and I report each week.

SAG-AFTRA, the union representing professional actors, announced on Thursday that it has reached a tentative agreement with the major broadcast networks and other producers on the National Code of Fair Practice for Network Television Broadcasting (Network Television Code). The agreement generates more than $239 million a year in covered member earnings and includes all non-dramatic programming on broadcast as well as digital media. The Net Code covers such programs as morning news shows, talk shows, serials (soap operas), variety, reality, game shows, sports and promotional announcements. Current programs covered by this contract include “Good Morning America,” "The Price is Right," “The Young and the Restless,” “Beyond the Gates,” “Jeopardy!” “Saturday Night Live,” “The Voice,” “Dancing With the Stars,” “Last Week Tonight With John Oliver,” “General Hospital,” “Days of our Lives,” “The Bold and the Beautiful,” the Academy Awards and the Super Bowl, among others. The agreement will now go before the SAG-AFTRA National Board for consideration, with details contained in the tentative agreement to be released following the Board vote at an upcoming meeting. After last year’s extension of the 2021-2024 agreement (through June 30, 2025), the networks and producers were committed to beginning negotiations on a full three-year successor agreement, which culminated with today’s tentative agreement. Nicole Paggi (“Hope & Faith”) was back in Port Charles as Maxie Jones on the Thursday, July 3 episode of “General Hospital.” Reportedly, Paggi is stepping in for the character’s regular portrayer, Kirsten Storms, for at least three episodes due to the actress having a scheduling conflict, according to TV Insider, citing a show spokesperson who confirms the casting change is only temporary. The outlet also notes that, due to the show’s taping schedule, which involves filming multiple episodes a day and sometimes out of order, the next episodes featuring Paggi as Maxie are set to air on Wednesday, July 30 and Wednesday, August 13. Storms will be back in the role sometime during the week of August 18-22, 2025. The last time viewers saw Paggi on the show was in January 2024, when she filled in for Storms for two episodes, the first of which aired December 27, 2023 and the second airing January 5, 2024. Incidentally, confusion ensued during that time as Storms appeared in at least one episode in between In a post on Instagram at the time, Paggi commented on her debut on the series, saying, “So fun playing Maxie Jones on ‘General Hospital!’” In addition to her post, she also shared several screenshots of her appearance on her Instagram Stories timeline. ABC quietly rebranded “GMA3: What You Need to Know” to simply “GMA3,” keeping things more streamlined for the third hour of “Good Morning America.” As a result, the retitled news hour saw its best performance among Total Viewers in seven weeks, best Women 25-54 rating in 12 weeks (since week of March 31-April 4, 2025) and best Women 18-49 rating in 10 weeks (since week of April 14-18, 2025) during the week of June 23-27, 2025. With 1.275 million viewers tuning in, “GMA3” topped its afternoon news competition – “NBC News Daily” (1.081 million) – among Total Viewers and in the key demos, while staying close to year ago levels across the board among Total Viewers (1.275 million vs. 1.291 million), Households (0.8 rating vs. 0.9 rating), Women 18-49 (0.15 rating vs. 0.16 rating) and Women 25-54 (0.22 rating vs. 0.25 rating). The Hollywood Chamber of Commerce on Wednesday announced the names of those set to receive a star on the streets of Hollywood Boulevard and Vine Street as part of the iconic Hollywood Walk of Fame. “The Young and the Restless” star Melody Thomas Scott (Nikki Newman), Sarah Michelle Gellar (“All My Children,” “Buffy the Vampire Slayer”) and Demi Moore (“General Hospital”) were among the names unveiled as part of the class of 2026, a list comprising of 35 individuals overall in the categories of recordings, motion pictures, television, live theater/live performance and sports entertainment. Scott and Gellar are recognized for their television work, while Moore is recognized for her work in motion pictures. Although not all individuals were honored in recognition of their soap opera characters, the internationally recognized honor has included such soap icons as Judith Light, Kate Linder, Susan Lucci, Eric Braeden, Jeanne Cooper, Macdonald Carey, Kelly Ripa, Rick Springfield, David Hasselhoff, John Stamos, Deidre Hall, Ruth Warwick, Anna Lee, Anne Jeffreys, Tommy Lee Jones and Michael B. She later won the Best Actress at the Soap Opera Digest Awards in 2001 and received four Soap Opera Update Awards for Outstanding Lead Actress in 1992, 1993, 1995 and 1996. Scott began her career at age three. From tormenting Erica while attempting to seduce Dimitri Marick (the late Michael Nader), Kendall became a prominent fixture in Pine Valley as she went on to embrace her Kane heritage and create a bond with both her mother and her sister, Bianca Montgomery. According to updated TV listing guides for next week, WTSP, the TEGNA-owned local CBS affiliate covering Tampa Bay and Sarasota, the 11th-largest TV market (DMA) in the United States, will be introducing an expanded noon newscast beginning Monday, July 7. As a result of the change, the station will be shifting its daytime schedule with “The Young and the Restless” and “The Bold and the Beautiful” moving to new time slots. As expected, nominations for “The 52nd Annual Daytime Emmy Awards” are set to be announced on Thursday, July 10, the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences (NATAS), the governing body behind the awards, confirmed on Wednesday. The announcement of which of your favorite daytime stars and shows will be nominated for their work during calendar year 2024 will be made at noon ET/9:00 a.m. PT on X (formerly Twitter) via the handle @TheEmmys and on TheEmmys.TV, the official website for NATAS. Earlier this year, it was announced that this year’s telecast would take place in October, swapping the ceremony and submission timeline with “The 46th Annual News & Doc Emmy Awards,” which took place last week. New categories being introduced this year include Outstanding Emerging Talent in a Daytime Drama Series, and the splitting of the Culinary Series category into two separate categories, as well as splitting the Travel, Nature and Adventure category into different lines. The new Culinary Series categories are Outstanding Culinary Instructional Series (at least 51% focus on the “how-to” of cooking, e.g., recipes, equipment, techniques, etc) and Outstanding Culinary Cultural Series (at least 51% on the culture of food, e.g., food/beverage tours, restaurants, cultural and ethnic dining, etc). For the third week in a row, CBS’ “The Young and the Restless” saw week-to-week growth among Women 25-54 and was also up among Total Viewers for the second consecutive week, marking a 17-week high in the latter category during the week of June 23-27, 2025. Hank Northrop, whose casting was first announced in February of this year, is set to make his “Days of our Lives” debut at the end of October, a representative for the daytime drama series has confirmed to Soap Opera Network, although character and storyline details remain under wraps. Northrop is the son of “General Hospital” star Lynn Herring (Lucy Coe) and the late Wayne Northrop, who played the iconic role of Roman Brady on “Days of our Lives” from 1981-1984 and again from 1991-1994. From 2005-2006, the Elder Northrop returned to the series once more but took on the new persona of Dr. Alex North as Roman had already been recast with actor Josh Taylor since 1997. “I did the audition and I felt good about it, but my focus was on my father,” the younger Northrop recalled in an interview with TV Insider, thinking back to the time when he was mourning the loss of his dad, who passed away on November 29, 2024. “It kind of took the back burner in my mind. And then I got a callback and didn’t hear for a little bit. And then the most magical thing happened on my birthday, January 9. I got the call saying, ‘Congratulations, you’ve booked ‘Days of our Lives.’ And I just immediately broke down in tears.” “It was so cosmic. It was almost like my dad had given me a birthday present, the first birthday after his passing, to help me through the trauma of dealing with his passing,” shared Northrop to the outlet at the time. “You can’t script it. It gave me the ability to cope with it a little more.
