ARTICLE: ABC Announces 2024-2025 Fall Primetime Schedule

ABC recently unveiled its 2024-2025 primetime schedule, which sees the network airing just five scripted series, including new dramas “High Potential” and “Doctor Odyssey.” “Grey’s Anatomy” will shift one hour to the 10:00 p.m. slot on Thursdays while the network will mark the return of “The Wonderful World of Disney” to its schedule.

“Dancing with the Stars” will be moving to Tuesday nights so that the network can air consistent programming that won’t be interrupted by “Monday Night Football” broadcasts scheduled for select Mondays. Said Monday night programming options will be announced at a later date.

Following “Dancing with the Stars” will be “High Potential,” written by Oscar-nominated Drew Goddard and based on the popular French series. The crime procedural stars Kaitlin Olson as Morgan, a single mom with an exceptional mind whose unconventional knack for solving crimes leads to an unusual and unstoppable partnership with a by-the-book seasoned detective.

Set to finish the season as the No. 1 entertainment network among Adults 18-49, ABC is banking on a new iteration in the “The Bachelor” franchise with the launch of “The Golden Bachelorette,” which starts off Wednesday nights at 8:00 p.m. with 90-minute episodes leading into “Abbott Elementary,” the only half-hour comedy on the network’s fall schedule.

With 43 million viewers tuning into the debut of “The Golden Bachelor” across all platforms last fall, “The Golden Bachelorette” highlights Joan Vassos as the first-ever Golden Bachelorette. Vassos is a 61-year-old grandmother and school administrator from Rockville, Maryland, seeking a second chance at finding love. Viewers will recall Vassos from “The Golden Bachelor,” where she self-eliminated herself from the competition when a medical concern with her daughter arose.

Closing out Wednesday nights at 10:00 p.m. will be the ABC News Studios documentary series “Scamanda.” Based on the No. 1 podcast of the same name, “Scamanda” tells the story of Amanda Riley — a wife, mother, blogger and Christian — whose tragic cancer tale captivates thousands. But Amanda has a secret that she’s dying to keep, and after an anonymous tip to an investigative reporter, her own words may prove to be her downfall.

On Thursday nights, the network will kick things off with a two-hour block of Ryan Muphy-produced productions led by “9-1-1,”  back for an eighth season (second on ABC), followed by the new series “Doctor Odyssey” at 9:00 p.m. 

Starring Joshua Jackson (“Fringe,” “Dawson’s Creek”) and Don Johnson (“Nash Bridges,” “Miami Vice”), “Doctor Odyssey” is a high-octane procedural that takes place aboard a luxury cruise ship where the staff works hard and plays harder. It’s all hands on deck for Max, the new on-board doctor and his small but mighty medical team as they navigate unique medical crises and each other miles from shore.

Rounding out the network’s schedule are the returns of “America’s Funniest Home Videos,” which celebrates a monumental 35th season, and “Shark Tank,” as well as popular films under “The Wonderful World of Disney” umbrella. Friday staple “20/20” will remain in its two-hour Friday night slot.

Other series set to air on the network at some point next season include returning dramas “The Rookie” and “Will Trent,” which will debut midseason, along with the celebratory farewell season of legacy comedy “The Conners.”

Also returning midseason are “American Idol,” “The Bachelor,” “Celebrity Jeopardy!,” “Celebrity Wheel of Fortune” and “What Would You Do?” The network will also see the return of “Extreme Makeover: Home Edition,” this time from executive producer Reese Witherspoon and hosted by world-renowned organizing duo Clea Shearer and Joanna Teplin of “The Home Edit.”

As always, all-new episodes of ABC programming will be made available for viewing next day on Hulu.

The network noted that fall premiere dates will be announced in the coming weeks, and additional midseason announcements will be made later.
