Y&R Cast

every time i hear CBS or Sony cry about Budget costs I laugh because it's the large cast that increases the budget and the sets they create for them. why does The cast has to be so big? you don't need 30 cast members just the core family's having a cast of 30 takes away from the stars of the show Newmans, Abbotts and the main vets. ditch half the cast aka Lily,Cane,Devon and extend the scenes with Victor, Jack, Nikki, Paul and others vets. the show needs to cut prob half the cast and only pay characters when needed per show. characters like Austin, Devon should not be on contract. I look at shows like 24 and the Walking Dead and no way do they have a cast the size of Y&R only the main characters. so why do you think Y&R and other daytime shows need such a large cast?
