Prominent, meaning that Angie and Frankie are firmly ensconced in story right now -- not like Reggie, just having an U/5 scene while babysitting his blonde, caucasian Autistic sister who has more love interests than he ever did. Or like Dre who balled up his fist on 9/11 and hinted that something bad happened to him that day and then never talked about it for months.

As far as having a purpose in six months, the show is being written by those strike-breaking hacks, B&E... I'll be amazed if even the show itself has a purpose in six months. It hasn't so far.
