Luckily, I avoided spoiler so I was shocked it was Lexie who was in the pod. I don't know about this but we'll see how it goes. On one hand, I'm glad nobody spoiled it here in the discussion threads, but on the other hand, you guys spoiled her timeline. Please be more careful with that. I had to go back and edit it out. If it hasn't happened on air yet, there's no need to post in here.....or you could put it in spoiler tags. It's not that hard to remember that.

ALL: The First Year of a Soap - Growing Pains, Teething Issues, etc...

PC's biggest problem in those crucial first few years was how much the show gave the vibe of something that was created just to be created, rather than having an identity. I have seen various fans say the show did improve around 2000 but by then it was too late. Maybe 6 years is all they were going to get anyway - many better shows have not lasted that long.

Thanks. I had never seen this. No wonder they wanted to be unknown - that's some real tea. Dan Hamilton was hot but (allegedly) he was a little too aware of how hot he was...
I can't see Geraldine Court faring any better as Miranda than Judith McConnell did (the problem went beyond being too similar to Iris - she existed solely as a placeholder in a dull, dull period), but I am sorry she didn't find some role after June Laverty. Maybe Elena?
Sad to hear how funny she was when she was always given drab parts onscreen. Given that Marland was reportedly very funny and bitchy, I suppose you had to be the same to keep up with him.
I had never heard anything of Lemay's 1988/1989 story plans. Or I forgot about them. I can see why the baby broker story didn't go anywhere, although it would have been very juicy. I imagine this would have tied into Felicia and her child.

You've pretty much described India's entire history on GL: besides being a spoiler in Phillip/Beth's romance, they didn't know what to do with her. I really like MKA, she had good chemistry with John Bolger and Chris Bernau (she never clicked that much with Grant, IMO). Sort of like what happens with the San Christohell bunch, or the music business people during Lujack's era, she stuck out like a sore thumb in SF. What was she even doing in that rinky-dink town? (Beyond making Alex's life miserable, that is).

Whatever stories planned for Vicky and David seemed to cut down by this time. Given GL's history with black characters, sometimes I'm surprised they even bothered with tokens by this point. It's especially annoying with David because they had made the character a complete shell - the David viewers first met hated cops and had good reason to feel the way he did. There was never a journey onscreen to make him a cop. After Monti Sharp the character ceased to exist.

This is from a few months ago -- I came across a mention on the AWHP that Victoria Wyndham had not liked the actor and had refused to continue the storyline with him.

The unknown actor mentions auditioning for Dennis and Jamie -- I had not known that Dorothy Purser had been a casting director before she wrote for the show.
